• How to self-update PHP+MySQL CMS?

  I'm writing a CMS on PHP+MySQL. I want it to be self-updatable (throw one click in admin panel). What are the best practices? How to compare current version of cms and a version of the update (application itself and database). Should it just download zip archive, upzip it and overwrite files? (but what to do with files that are no longer used). How to check if an update is downloaded correctly? Also it supports modules and I want this modules to be downloadable from the admin panel of cms. And how should I update MySQL tables?

• Dates that intersect

  Hi everyone, I've been researching this problem for awhile now and I can't seem to come to a solution, hopefully someone here can help. Currently I'm working with Microsoft SQL server management, I've been trying to do the following: Previously, the old query would just return the results that fit between two dates Heres the previous query: SELECT e.Name, o.StartDate, o.EndDate FROM dbo.Name e, dbo.Date o WHERE where e.Name = o.Name and o.StartDate <= '2010-09-28 23:59:59' and o.EndDate >= '2010-9-28 00:00:00' and e.Name like 'A' Example table that is produced after the query runs (The real table has a lot more rows obviously :P) : Name Start End A 2010-09-28 07:00:00 2010-09-28 17:00:00 A 2010-09-28 13:45:00 2010-09-28 18:00:00 A 2010-09-28 08:00:00 2010-09-28 16:00:00 A 2010-09-28 07:00:00 2010-09-28 15:30:00 However we need to change this, so that the query does the following: find the dates that intersect for a day x find the dates that don't intersect for a day x I've found a real useful site regarding this http://bloggingabout.net/blogs/egiardina/archive/2008/01/30/check-intersection-of-two-date-ranges-in-sql.aspx However the date to compare against is inputted, mine on the other hand has to all dates that intersect/don't intersect. • Is there any tool which can show the call tree for SQL stored procedures

  I have a huge SQL script which i need to analyse. It would be really helpful if i could find a tool which can generate a call tree; ie, to see which all procedures are called from a particular procedure. a perl based example is here, http://sqlblog.com/blogs/linchi_shea/archive/2009/10/23/find-the-complete-call-tree-for-a-stored-procedure.aspx but i need a tool to analyse the text file (.sql file), not the procedure stored in the database. due to some reasons i will not be able to create the whole set of procedures in the database and use the above mentioned tool. please respond if you have come across any ide/tool with this feature.

  i have this code to fetch emails from gmail using imap with the zend framework. i go back 2 days in my search (as i do not want all messages) all works well but it takes forever to load the messages and i need to do this for 5+ users, it seems like the search goes through the entire gmail message archive in getting the newest ones. my code looks like this: $dato = date('j-F-Y', strtotime($Date. • Is there a tool that will show diagrams of my SQL database in real-time?

  I've created some diagrams of SQL tables using the "Reverse Engineer" feature of Microsoft Office Visio. I like being able to visualize my relational databases in this manner. However, what I get is just a static document that I can print, e-mail to colleagues, and click widgets on. Earlier this year, I saw at a demo that the new version of Visual Studio 2010 has a new feature called the "Architect Explorer", which allows developers to view relationships among .net classes on the fly. It has many features for filtering the data that the developer is interested in. It would be really awesome if I could visually browse my tables and stored procedures and see what is related to what by primary key, foreign key, and referenced in stored procedures. I realize that I'm talking about two entirely different technologies and it's not a perfect analogy, but is there some similar tool that would allow me to visualize tables in my SQL database?

• Running commands though PHP/Perl scripts as a priviledged user on Linux.

  Background: I am writing a script for a company that will allow users to create FTP accounts through a web interface. In the background, the script must run a bunch of commands: Add the user to the system (useradd) Open and edit various files mail the user via sendmail and a few other things... I'm basically looking for the most secure way of doing this. I've heard of the setuid method, the sudo method, and of course, running httpd as a priviledged user. There will be sanity checks on the data entered of course before any commands are executed (ie. only alphanumeric characters in usernames) What is the method used by the popular scripts out there (webmin for example), as it must be fairly secure?

  I am trying to prepare a complete list of behaviour that Gmail POP3 exhibits, that you wouldn’t expect to generally find in a POP3 server. For example, Gmail appears to ignore the DELE (delete) command from a POP3 client. Instead, it implements its own delete and archive strategy. The purpose of preparing a list is to avoid developers testing a POP3 client against the Gmail POP3 server and then assuming that all POP3 servers behave in the same way. Can anyone provide a more complete list of non-standard behaviour?

• Linking error in OMNeT++ using Boost serialization library

  I'm very new to OMNeT++ and I'd like to use the serialization-library contained in the boost framework. However, when trying to use it, I get quite many errors such as: Description Resource Path Location Type undefined reference to `boost::archive::archive_exception::~archive_exception()' OmCCN line 36, external location: /home/alexander/UniBE/BT/simulator/boost-compiledLibs /include/boost/serialization/throw_exception.hpp C/C++ Problem . I guess the problem is that I didn't yet link the compiled library in OMNeT. I've had a look at the makefile but any changes there are worthless since it is generated automatically by makemake. Furthermore, trying to access the menu item 'makemake' in project properties OMNeT++ IDE throws an error (The currently displayed page contains invalid values). Can anyone give me a hint concerning what the error could cause or how to link the compiled library correctly? Any hints are very appreciated! cheers alex

  Hi guys. Long time viewer, first time question asker. I'm trying to have my personal website parse through my mail box for attachments from a certain subscription list, and then be able to view the PDF attachments as images, preferably jpg. With the help of this: http://www.linuxscope.net/articles/mailAttachmentsPHP.html I'm currently using imap_base64() to decode the MIME data and create the PDF. However, I hate using PDF readers in general and I thought it would be a lot more streamlined if I could just view it as an image instead. I've heard for convert with ImageMagick, but would I need to actually write the PDF to a directory before using this, or can I convert somehow directly from the MIME data in the email? • Mercurial - How do you export your repo's source to a production site?

  I've tried using archive in Tortoise HG by opening my repo change log. This doesn't seem to be anything like SVN's export command, where I can simply export a remote repository to the current directory. I use this to get a clean copy of my source for production (without notes and repository data). How can I do something like this in HG? Or, should I just use clone and deal with the repo related data manually? BTW, I need to do this all via command line since I'm not going to be using Tortoise HG on my Linux server. Any help is much appreciated.

  I recently was trying to add errors.add_to_base code in the middle of some model logic and was wondering why it wasn't showing up in my view that was iterating over all errors. I then ran across this e-mail which explains why: http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-talk/browse_thread/thread/e045ec1dead1ff06?pli=1 The question is then, how does one add errors with add_to_base if it doesn't make sense to put them into a validate method? I have some complex logic. The model needs to talk to a has_many relationship which has its own relationships that go through a myriad of conditionals to figure out if a request makes sense. It's nothing that can be tied to a validate method easily. How does one add errors then accordingly?

  Does Facebook provide access to any real time APIs so that you can respond to events as soon as they happen? If not, what alternatives are there and what are their limitations? For example, if I use polling instead, will they limit my api calls? And if I try using RSS feeds, about how much delay can I expect?   "How do you hang up incoming calls (in Android of course)?" First, I know this question has been asked and answered several times, and the response is always "you can't". But if we look in the market we get a few applications (all private software, no access to the source code... :-( ) that do this action, such as CallFilter, Panda firewall and others... So... does somebody know how these apps do the hang up action, (or terminate, or disconnect or whatever you call it..)? And other question, if the first don't get a response.. does somebody know how send an incoming call to the voice mail? Of course, all questions are about how to do it programmatically. So with the voicemail question I know there's a flag in contacts that is used for that, but like I said, I'd like to know the programmatical way. Thanks all!

  I have some kind of object model and I need to filter and sort it's nodes for some kind of property. What kinds of automated systems exist to generate and select properties of the object model that correlate to what I want? (I'm intentionally being abstract and non-specific) I'm thinking of a system that works kind of like spam filters or supervised classification systems in that given an example data set it identifies rules that find nodes of interest. However I'm looking for a more general system in that it shouldn't require any design time information about the object model. It should work equality well as a spam filter on e-mail, a bug finder on a code base, an interest filter in a newsgroup or bot accounts finder on a social networking site. As long as it can explore the object model via reflection and be given a set of "interesting" nodes, it should be able to find rules that will find more nodes like them.

  This is FIrst time i try to create Cocoa Touch Static Library and follow these steps. Create New Project with Cocoa Touch Static Library named it By default i got single class with Demo.h and Demo.m. 2.Create a public function in .h and implement it in .m. 3.Select iOS Device and press cmd + B. 4.Copy Demo.a from products and the .h file drop it in my iOS App where i want to use it. 5.Then Import Demo.h and try to call the function that i wrote.   How is it possible to auto start my application or run a process when the user turns on the phone. If you look at ex. Outloock WP7 included in the operating system then updates the icon so that you can see that there are new mail. This is a process in the background running.
