• How can I embed images within my application and use them in HTML control?

  Is there any way I can embed the images within my exe (as resource?) and use it in generated HTML ? Here are the requirements: A. I want to show dynamic HTML content (e.g. using webBrowser control, VS 2008, VB .Net, winForm desktop application) B. I want to generate the HTML on-the-fly using XML and XSL (file1.xml or file2.xml transformed by my.xsl) C. The HTML may contain IMG tags (file1.gif and or file2.gif according to the xml+xsl transformation) and here comes the complicated one: D. All these files (file1.xml, file2.xml, my.xsl, file1.gif, file2.gif) should be embedded in one exe file. I guess the XML and XSL can be embedded resources, and I can read them as stream, but what ways do I have to reference the image within the HTML ? <IMG src="???" /> I do not want to use absolute path and external files. If the image files are resources, can I use relative path? Relative to what? (I can use BASE tag, and then what?) Can I use stream as in email messages? If so, where can I find the format I need to use? http://www.websiteoptimization.com/speed/tweak/inline-images/ are browser dependent. What is the browser used by webBrowser control? IE? what version? Does it matter if I use GIF or JPG or BMP (or any other image format) for the images? Does it matter if I use mshtml library and not the regular webBrowser control?   Hi, I added the interfaceOrientation to my app. It works fine concerning the views. Some of the table-cells I defined by CGRects to position the text in the cell. In portrait-mode the cell is 300px long, in landscape-mode 420px. I've also try loading the whole html instead of only #content: $('#apDiv2').load('ePhone.html'); but it still doesn't work. Please help, thx

• How does scope in Javascript work?

  I can not understand how scoping works in Javascript. E.g. <html> <head> <script>var userName = "George"; </script> </head> <body> ...... <script> document.write('Name = ' + userName); </script> </body> </html> The variable userName is declared in another "section" of a script. As I understand it the browser renders html and executes code in the order it finds it. So how does userName in the second script tag gets resolved? Does it go to a global setting? Anything I declare earlier is global? I noticed the same happens if I do something like: <html> <head> <script> do { var userName = "George"; //bla } while (someCondition); </script> </head> <body> ...... <script> document.write('Name = ' + userName); </script> </body> </html> Even when userName is declared inside {} it is still resolved in the second script. How is that possible?

• Git: HEAD has disappeared, want to merge it into master.

  The top image is the output of: git reflog. The bottom is what GITK in GIT GUI (msysgit) shows me when I look at all branch history. The last few commits do not show on GIT GUI. Why do they not show on GITK (at least as a branch or something)? How do I merge them into master? I gather this happened when I checked out tag 0.42. Why is that not the same as master? (I had tagged the master in its latest state) When I click push, why does the remote repo claim to be up to date.. shouldn't it try to update these commits into whatever branch they are in? The first of the questions is important - I would like to begin to understand what GIT is thinking. It's more oracle than logic at this point. If it makes a difference to see the earlier history, the project is a [pretty powerful] JS color picker that can be viewed here in its entirety.

  They usually involve generics. But some methods with generics don't have them, and not all extension methods have them. They've just "been there" since day one, we've all seen them; but I realized I still don't know what they mean, and I can't find the answer anywhere. Now it's really bugging me. Google just turns up results that are about XML, etc. Is this officially documented anywhere? Thanks. EDIT: Well that's just great. Since I just created an account to make my first Stack Overflow post, to get an answer for this burning question; I'm not allowed to post my pretty Intellisense picture, or create a new tag "angle-brackets". • Chrome renders button links completely screwed up when placed inside a paragraph

  I am fairly proficient in CSS but now I am running into a very strange rendering issue in Google Chrome 9. I am trying to create some fancy looking link buttons (basically heavily styled anchors). Here is some example markup: <a href="" class="button"> <figure class="sprite icon icon_back"></figure> Link button with icon</a> This markup may look a litte strange to you, there's a few things you should know: I am using HTML5's figure class to include an icon as part of the button. I have the proper reset CSS applied and Chrome can render this tag for sure. Instead of actually pointing to an image I am applying CSS classes to the figure element. Within the CSS I am using the spriting technique to show the correct portion of a single large sprite image. All of this is working fine in Firefox, and actually also in Chrome. The correct rendering can be seen in the following image: It renders like that in both Firefox and Chrome. Here comes the problem, if I place such a button within paragraph tags <p></p> this is what happens in Chrome only: Notice how the button is ripped apart? Only in Chrome and only when placed inside a paragraph. It gets even stranger: this only happens for the first button inside the paragraph, if I would place three buttons inside a paragraph, only the 1st one is screwed up. Your first question would probably be about the CSS. • Subversion freaking out on me!

  I have two copies of a site, one is the production copy, and the other is the development copy. I recently added everything in the production to a subversion repository hosted on our linux backup server. I created a tag of the current version and I was done. I then copied the development copy overtop of the production copy (on my local machine where I have everything checked out). There are only 10-20 files changed, however, when I use tortoise SVN to do a commit, it says every file has changed. The diff file generated shows subversion removing everything, and replacing it with the new version (which is the exact same). What is going on? How do I fix it? First of all, When you have a model called Movie, is it better to use Ratings as a model and associate them or just keep Ratings in an array floating in space(!). • Using struts 2 with no tags

  Hi everyone, I wonder if you could guide me on this struts issue - I feel hopeless on this... I am working on migrating our web application to a Struts 2 portlet (I'm using Struts 2.1.8). The thing is, I am forced to avoid struts tags because our application relies on Dijit widgets, which are omitted when using struts tags. So now I should implement the <s:form tag using scriptlets. My question is: how you would suggest I imitate the way struts handles the "action" attribute? Right now it appears I should: Create a regular html form in my jsp. Get/create the ActionConfig object during onsubmit and set on it values which match my desired destination: class+method+result jsp. Execute the action I set in 2. Would you recommend this? If so - is ActionConfig obtained from the session? Can I initiate an action execution from ActionConfig? (Aletrnatively... generating an action url using struts' form.vm file - what do you say?) I would appreciate any help on this - Thanks a lot in advance!!!

  Hi - thanks for clicking. I am trying to get status feedback using an IFrame for file uploads. I am not trying to get progress or percentages - just when a file is done uploading and if it was a success or failure. THE PROBLEM is that I can't seem to get the server response to appear on the client. I have to following design: I have an iframe on my page: <iframe id="target_frame" src="" style="border:0px; width:0px; height:0px"></iframe> The form tag points to it: <form enctype="multipart/form-data" id="fileUploadForm" name="fileUploadForm" action="picupload.aspx" method="post" target="target_frame"> And the submit button starts a file upload via the iframe: <input id="submit" type="submit" value="upload" /> In the picupload.aspx.cs file, I have a method that returns dynamic data. I then send it to the client: message = data; Response.Write(String.Format("<script language='javascript' type='text/javascript'>window.parent.handleResponse('{0}');</script>", message)); On the client, I have a response handler: function handleResponse(msg) { document.getElementById('statusDiv').innerHTML = msg; } My intent is to see the msg value change for each uploaded file but I never see anything appear in statusDiv, let alone dynamically changing messages. • Glassfish 3: How do I get and use a developers build so I can navigate a stack trace including Glas

  I am migrating a JSF 1.1 application to JEE 6 Web profile, and doing it in steps. I am in the process of moving from JSP with JSF 1.1 to Facelets under JSF 1.2 using the jsf-facelets.jar for JSF 1.2, and received an "interesting" stack trace when trying to lookup a key in a Map using a "{Bean.foo.map.key}" where the stacktrace complained about "key" not being a valid integer. (After code introspection I am workarounding it using a number as the key). That bug is not what this question is about. In such a situation it is essential to be able to navigate the source of every line in the stack trace. In Eclipse I normally attach a source jar to every jar on the build path, but in this particular case the Glassfish server adapter creates a library automatically containing the jars. Also there is to my knowledge no debug build of Glassfish where sources are included in the bundle. Glassfish is a non-trivial Maven project, and a bit picky too. I am not very familiar with maven, but have managed to checkout the code from Subversion and build it for the 3.0 tag according to http://wiki.glassfish.java.net/Wiki.jsp?page=V3FullBuildInstructions#section-V3FullBuildInstructions-CheckoutTheWorkspace - it appears to be the code corresponding to the official released 3.0 version. After finishing the "mvn -U install" part, I have then tried to create Eclipse projects by first using "mvn -DdownloadSources=true eclipse:eclipse" and then import them in Eclipse JEE 3.5.2 and specifying the M2_REPO variable but many of the projects still have compilation errors, and I cannot locate any instructions from Oracle about how to do this. I'd appreciate some help in just getting a functional IDE workspace reflecting the 3.0 version of Glassfish. I have Eclipse 3.5.2, Netbeans 6.8 and 6.9 beta, and IntelliJ IDEA 9, and Linux/Windows/OS X do do it on.

• When I Add <DIV> Bottom Scroll Bar Appears, Even Though It Is Not Greater Than The Page Width

  I have searched for this with no answer. My page loads up perfectly when I load the header, navigation and then center image...all 3 different divs. However I have more I need to add and the div tags change the size of the page even though the css I'm using isn't larger than the page. I have no idea what is happening.   I have this php code. As you can see i query a mysql database through a function showallevents. I return a the $result to the $event variable. I try to return all rows of the data that i take with the msql_fetch_assoc. I don't get response even when i encode the $response variable. It returns null to all fields. Can anyone help me on what i am doing wrong. • Ant build script executing <sql> task using java code

  Any idea, why none of the debugging comments are printed once after executing the ANT build script's SQL task via java code? I noticed this issue only when i try to execute a sql task using java code. The ant script has the following simple transaction tag in it. <transaction> <![CDATA[ select now() ]]> </transaction> Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

• Google Chrome is doing things wrong again

  Chrome is wrongly reporting width and height values for images during, or just after, load time. Jquery is used in this code example: <img id='image01' alt='picture that is 145x134' src='/images/picture.jpg' /> <script> var img = $( 'img#image01' ) img.width() // would return 145 in Firefox and 0 in Chrome. img.height() // would return 134 in Firefox and 0 in Chrome. </script> If you put the script in a onload function, the result is the same. but if you run the code a few seconds after the page has loaded, chrome returns the correct result. <script> function example () { var img = $( 'img#image01' ); img.width() // returns 145 in both Firefox and Chrome. img.height() // returns 134 in both Firefox and Chrome. } window.setTimeout( example, 1000 ) </script> Also if you specify the width and height values in the img tag, the script seems to work as expected in both Firefox and Chrome. <img id='image01' src='/images/picture.jpg' width=145 height=134 /> But as you cannot always control the html input, this is not an ideal workaround. Can jQuery be patched with a better workaround for this problem? or will I need to specify the width and height for every image in my code?
