  • How to get real-time status notification with Facebook SDK via listener

    I'm using Twitter4j and the Android Facebook SDK to fetch status messages. With Twitter4J I get real-time notifications whenever a new status has been added to the stream via StatusListener (Twitter4J). In the Facebook SDK I cannot find a similar way, I can only fetch entire streams over and over again in a fixed time interval using RequestListener (Facebook SDK) as far as I see it. Is there any way to get notified of new statuses in realtime with the Facebook SDK in a similar way as with Twitter4J? For example, If I add a new file into a directory, I would like to get some notification of that event.     Hi all, In my application, I'm having functionality like twitter that when you have not refreshed your screen, and if there're new messages then you get this message that "You have n new messages" and a refresh button, which on press will refresh the screen. I'm basically fetching all the data from an xml with some url. In case of thread, I need to call a timer after some time period which might affect the app performance. Can anybody please suggest wheather what will be better to use push notifications or thread with timer? Thanx in advance.

    Hi, I'm trying to get notifications in a CouchDB change poll as soon as pre-defined field is set or changed. I've already had a look at filters that can be used for filtering change events(db/_changes?filter=myfilter). However, I've not yet found a way to include this temporal information, because you can only get the current version of the document in this filter functions. Is there any possibility to create such a filter? If it does not work, I could export my field to a separate database and the only poll for changes in that db, but I'd prefer to keep together my data for obvious reasons. Thanks in advance!

    Hi I am looking at pines notify(http://pines.sourceforge.net/pnotify/) and it looks good but it seems to have little actual documentation so I am wondering is there anything more established and worked on out there? Like I don't want to spend time trying to figure out how to use pines and then find out it is missing some feature that I needed a few months later that I needed to change to a different plugin. This happened to me with tablesorter 2.0 I was using it then I needed the filtering but theirs kinda sucked so I found datatables what had such a bigger api and developed more. So I am wondering if there is something like datatables(in terms of development and features) just for notifications instead.

  • Notify user of message arrival in another mailbox

    This is very similar to this question but has a few differences. Basically we have a user dealing with a conflict of interest case. To separate the mail from prying eyes (and the draconian routing system we have in place) the user has been granted access to a second conflicts mailbox that is only accessible to him via OWA. This has worked fine for years but now the user would like a notification to be sent to him when a message arrives in his conflicts mailbox. Initially I thought an Outlook rule would work but of course the client is never logged in so the Outlook rules are never processed. This led me to think that an Exchange Transport rule might work but the only options I can see are to Forward or Copy the message to another user. this would bypass the conflicts setup. All I really need is a notification and not the actual message to be sent. Is this at all possible with Exchange 2007? Or if not is there any thirdparty addition or workaround that anyone has come across?

  • Writing a docx file to a BLOB using Java 1.4 inside Oracle 10g

    I'm trying to generate a blank docx file using Java, add some text, then write it to a BLOB that I can return to our document processing engine (a custom mess of PL/SQL and Java). I have to use the 1.4 JVM inside Oracle 10g, so no Java 1.5 stuff. I don't have a problem writing the docx to a file on my local machine, but when I try to write to BLOB, I'm getting garbage. Am I doing something dumb? Any help is appreciated.
