  • Mailer issue, PHP values do not change

    I have a script that runs once every month and send out stats to clients, now the stats are displayed in normal text and in the shape of a Pie Graph, now if I run the script mannually from the command line all info on the graphs are correct, but when the cron job executes the script the values for the first client are displaying on the graphs of all clients. but the text is correct.     I'm trying to program a Hebrew site with a search option. I am using php 5 with Apache 2.2, on a Debian 5 (Lenny) with appropriate code pages enabled. I am using _POST to pass arguments to a script. If I pass English word to the script everything works, but when I use Hebrew nothing is passed through the POST function. When I use ECHO to show _POST, the variable is empty. What might be the problem?

    This is an array of objects showing a user uploading photos: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photo] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) ) [44] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:37:15 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photo] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) However instead of showing: mr smith uploaded one photo mr smith uploaded one photo I'd like to display: mr smith uploaded two photos by grouping similar items, grouping by user ID and them having added them within, let's say 15 minutes of each other. So I'd like to get the array in this sort of shape: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photos] => Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) ) preserving the first item of the group and it's created time, and supplementing it with any other groupable photos and then unsetting any items that were grouped (so the final array doesn't have key 44 anymore as it was grouped in with 12). The array contains other actions than just photos, hence the original keys of 12 and 44. I just can't figure out a way to do this efficiently. I used to use MySQL and PHP to do this but am trying to just use pure PHP for caching reasons. Can anyone shed any insights? I thought about going through each item and seeing if I can group it with the previous one in the array but the previous one might not necessarily be relevant or even a photo. I've got total brain freeze :(

  • PHP: Simple, Validate if string is hex?

    I have no clue how to validate this string. I am simply supplying an IV for an encryption, but can find no "is_hex()" or similar function, I can't wrap my head around it! I read on a comment in the php documentation (user contrib. notes) this: if($iv == dechex(hexdec($iv))) { //True } else { //False } But that doesn't seem to work at all.. It only says false.     hi everybody, yesterday, I posted a question about "Hom to change a DIV id with a php function" and someone found the right answer with a regular expression. The problem is that I wanted to use this answer to aplly the method on other same problems. But, as I'm very bad at regular expressions, I couldn't.     The code below works as far as inserting records from a file into MySQL, but it only does so properly if the columns in the file are already ordered the same way as in the database. I would like for the user to be able to select the drop down the corresponds to each column in their file to match it up with the columns in the database (the database has email address, first name, last name).   • Can't concatenate 2 arrays in PHP

    I've recently learned how to join 2 arrays using the + operator in PHP. But consider this code... $array = array('Item 1'); $array += array('Item 2'); var_dump($array); Output is array(1) { [0]= string(6) "Item 1" } Why does this not work? Skipping the shorthand and using $array = $array + array('Item 2') does not work either. Does it have something to do with the keys?

    The user can enter a math problem like 5 + 654, 6 ^ 24, 2!, sqrt(543), log(54), sin 5, sin(50). After some reformatting (e.g. change sin 5 into sin(5)), and doing an eval, PHP gives me the right result. However, this is quite unsafe. Can anyone point me in the right direction parsing and solving a math question like the examples above, which is safe? Thanks.

    Is there a way to write the PHP file_exists function so that it searches a directory for a file with an arbitrary extension. For instance, suppose I knew that a file were called "hello", but I didn't know the extension, how would I write a function that searched for a file called hello.* and returned the name of this file? As far as I can tell, file_exists will only search for a string. Thanks.

    I currently have a PHP form that uses AJAX to connect to MySQL and display records matching a user's selection (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2593317/ajax-display-mysql-data-with-value-from-multiple-select-boxes) As well as displaying the data, I also place an 'Edit' button next to each result which displays a form where the data can be edited. My problem is editing unique records since currently I only use the selected values for 'name' and 'age' to find the record. If two (or more) records share the same name and age, I am only able to edit the first result.
