• Escaping quotes twice in PHP

  Hello, I have a complicated form where I first have to take some _GET parameters and obviously I have to do a mysql_real_escape_string() on them since I look stuff up in the database with them. Them problem for me is after the initial db lookup. When the user submits a form, I send them along as a _POST request and obviously have to do this mysql_real_escape_string call again just in case someone tries to hack my site with a faked form submission. Then the problem I have is the arguments are escaped twice and my queries begin to look strange like this: select field1 , field2 , from my_table where some_id = \'.$lookup_id.\' ... So the system seems to be adding \' and it is messing me up :) Also, in my other forms I have not seen such behavior. Any ideas on what may be causing this? One weird thing is that I tried to send unescaped parameters to the post, and the same problem happens. That is a clue, but not a sufficient one for me. :( Thanks, Alex

• Referencing surrogate key

  I have a table that has an autoincrement surrogate key. I want to use it as a foreign key of my other table. The thing is, I cant figure out how I can reference it to that table, because it is nearly impossible to determine what I have to reference(the actual value of the surrogate key). Please be noted that what I am trying to do is adding a tuple/record through my program(outside the dbms). The process is: Add a new record in Table1 and generate an autoincrement key. Update Add a new record in Table2 and reference its foreign key to the primary key of Table1. Update My question is : HOW do I store the foreign key if I didnt know what is it?

• What's the correct way to represent a linear process in CocoaTouch (UIKit)?

  I need to represent a linear process (think wizard) in an iPad app. In principle I could use a UINavigationController and just keep pushing new controllers for each step of the process. But this seems rather inefficient since the process I'm modeling has no notion of navigating backwards so all previous views would pointlessly stay around and use up resources. At the moment I keep adding and removing a subview to one "master" viewcontroller and basically swapping out the contents. This works but feels rather clunky and I hope there is some nicer way to achieve this. Additionally there needs to be an animated transition between the views. (I have this working at the moment via beginAnimations / commitAnimations)

• PowerShell: How to add XmlElement to a non-root element

  I'm having trouble adding an XmlElement to a non-root element in PowerShell. Basically, given this xml: <clubs> <club name="boca" position="1"> <field>bombonera</field> <field>bombonerita</field> </club> <club name="racing" position="19"> <field>cilindro</field> </club> </clubs> I create an element, $new = $clubs.CreateElement("Barracas") When I try to add this element to a non-root node i.e. $clubs.clubs.club += $new I get Cannot set "club" because only strings can be used as values to set XmlNode properties.   I am developing a Python module with several source files, each with its own test class derived from unittest right in the source. Consider the directory structure: dirFoo\ test.py dirBar\ __init__.py Foo.py Bar.py To test either Foo.py or Bar.py, I would add this at the end of the Foo.py and Bar.py source files: if __name__ == "__main__": unittest.main() And run Python on either source, i.e. $ python Foo.py ........... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 11 tests in 2.314s OK Ideally, I would have "test.py" automagically search dirBar for any unittest derived classes and make one call to "unittest.main()". What's the best way to do this in practice? I tried using Python to call execfile for every *.py file in dirBar, which runs once for the first .py file found & exits the calling test.py, plus then I have to duplicate my code by adding unittest.main() in every source file--which violates DRY principles.

• Changing dalvik/libcore causes rebuilding the whole framework

  I'm adding some interception routines to Dalvik libcore methods (e.g. file open method in libcore/luni/src/main/java/org/apache/harmony/luni/platform/OSFileSystem.java), which I think only changes basic sharing libraries. But to my surprise, every time I run make after modifications, it rebuilds nearly everything of the framework, such as Calculator application, W3C DOM parser, etc. It really takes time to build the framework after a small modification. I'm wondering if it is possible to reduce number of rebuilt components after modifying dalvik libcore? Thanks.

• Using Dom Objects in PHP, the default namespace is redeclared in some nodes.

  I'm working on a template engine, having migrated from regex driven to DOM driven. It appears though, that whenever I create a DomDocumentFragment to encapsulate some portion of a document temporarily, the namespace attribute is added to each node in the fragment. Since my default namespace for a given document will 99% of the time be XHTML, it's adding the XHTML namespace declaration. Being the default namespace, this seems fruitless, and ultimately nodes in any other namespace will be stripped out at render time anyways. Aside from iteratively removing namespace attributes, is there some way I can prevent this from occurring to begin with? Its quite problematic, as this will likely increase render time filesize considerably, as large portions of a given document may be stored in a fragment. I've tried $doc->normalizeDocument(), but as I assumed, it did nothing.

  in my app i have an image view and above that i added an button.And also in button click event i am calling a method.But i am unable to click on the button .whenever i try to click the button then the row of the table vie win which my image view is present is selected .Is there any method from which i can get the click event of the button which is placed on the image view.I do not want to use UIbuttons for setting the images in place of image view .Also if i am adding button as a subview of the table view then the click event is working but when i change the subview to image view then i get unsatisfactory result.Please help. • jQuery focus on content of input / textarea - not working properly in IE8

  I want the input fields on my site to select all the text when the user first clicks on them, but in IE8 the text is selected for a split second then reverts back to normal. Works fine in FF.   In the SRP, a 'responsibility' is usually described as 'a reason to change', so that each class (or object?) should have only one reason someone should have to go in there and change it. But if you take this to the extreme fine-grain you could say that an object adding two numbers together is a responsibility and a possible reason to change. Therefore the object should contain no other logic, because it would produce another reason for change. I'm curious if there is anyone out there that has any strategies for 'scoping', the single-responsibility principle that's slightly less objective?

• Issue with storing items in session in MVC

  I have a customer page on which user can enter multiple locations for customer. I am using telerik ajax grid to display locations, and when a new location is added, I am adding it to session and returning back to the grid. Finally, when user submits, customer and all locations using customerid as reference key gets inserted. I am clearing the session, when user enters create/edit page and on successful commit or any exception occurs. Problem is when user adds the locations for one user and then opens another tab, to create another user then all locations get cleared for previous user. Coz of session, this issue is occuring. Something of viewstate would be page specific. But for ajax grid actions, viewdata/viewbag is not working. Any thoughts on how to implement this. Thanks in advance.

  I am adding a new GUID/Uniqueidentifier column to my table. ALTER TABLE table_name ADD VersionNumber UNIQUEIDENTIFIER UNIQUE NOT NULL DEFAULT NEWSEQUENTIALID() GO And when ever a record is updated in the table, I would want to update this column "VersionNumber". So I create a new trigger CREATE TRIGGER [DBO].[TR_TABLE_NAMWE] ON [DBO].[TABLE_NAME] AFTER UPDATE AS BEGIN UPDATE TABLE_NAME SET VERSIONNUMBER=NEWSEQUENTIALID() FROM TABLE_NAME D JOIN INSERTED I ON D.ID=I.ID/* some ID which is used to join*/ END GO But just realized that NEWSEQUENTIALID() can only be used with CREATE TABLE or ALTER TABLE. I got this error The newsequentialid() built-in function can only be used in a DEFAULT expression for a column of type 'uniqueidentifier' in a CREATE TABLE or ALTER TABLE statement. It cannot be combined with other operators to form a complex scalar expression. Is there a workaround for this ? Edit1: Changing NEWSEQUENTIALID() to NEWID() in the trigger solves this, but I am indexing this column and using NEWID() would be sub-optimal

• After grouping by, can I refer to the elements of the original IEnumerable in a LINQ query?

  Example: from OriginalObject in ListOfOriginalObjects group new CustomObject { X = OriginalObject.A, Y = OriginalObject.B } by OriginalObject.Z into grouping select new GroupOfCustomObjects { Z = grouping.Key, C = OriginalObject.C, group = grouping } In the select part of the query, I'd like to add a property (OriginalObject.C) to the type GroupOfCustomObjects. But it seems that OriginalObject is out of scope in that part of the query. I can sort of understand why, since I am not grouping on that property and I am also not making that property part of CustomObject that I'm grouping. One workaround is to add a property C to CustomObject and the in the GroupOfCustomObjects read the value of the first CustomObject in the grouping. My issue with that is that I'm adding a property to an object that doesn't need it (CustomObject), just to be able to add it to the GroupOfCustomObjects. I hope I have explained this properly! Is there a way to refer to the OriginalObject that the query starts with? Thanks!

• How to Embed/Link binary data into a C++ DLL

  So I have a Visual Studio 2008 project which has a large amount of binary data that it is currently referencing. I would like to package the binary data much like you can do with C# by adding it as a "resource" and compiling it as a DLL. Lets say all my data has an extension of ".data" and is currently being read from the visual studio project. Is there a way that you can compile or link the data into the .dll which it is calling? I've looked at some of the google link for this and so far I haven't come up with anything - the only possible solution I've come up with is to use something like ResGen to create a .resources file and then link it using AssemblyLinker with /Embed or /Link flags. I dont think it'd work properly though because I dont have text files to create the .resources files, but rather binary files themselves. Any advice?

  Hello all, I am trying to make use of JQuery's remove attribute like this: $('#rom-img_1').removeAttr('mouseover'); $('#rom-img_2').removeAttr('mouseout'); However, it does not remove the effects of the events as the events are still triggered on mouseover and on mouseout. I have tried adding "on" before the events names too but JQuery doesn't use it like that. Why isn't this working and how can I remove those attributes. • How to create a lookup column that targets a Doc Lib and uses the 'Name' of the document?

  How do you create a lookup column to a Document Library that uses the 'Name' of the document as the lookup value? I found a blog post that recommends adding another custom field like "FileName" and then using a item reciever to populate the custom field with the value from the Name field but that seems cheesy. • Figuring out the resource a lock in SQL Server 2000 affects

  I am adding a simple web-interface to show data from a commercial off the shelf (COTS) application. This COTS issues locks on any record the user is actively looking at (whether they intend to edit and update it or not). I have found sp_lock and the Microsoft sp_lock2 scripts and can see the locks, so that's all well and good. However, I cannot figure out how I can tell if a specific record I am about to update has been affected by one of these locks. If I submit the update request and there is in fact a lock, the web-interface will wait indefinitely until the user closes the window in the COTS. How can I either: a) determine before issuing an update that the record has been locked OR b) issue an update that will immediately return with a LOCKED status rather than indefinitely waiting on the COTS user to close their window on that record?

• Rails Variable across all controller actions

  Hello, This should be a very simple rails question. I have a variable like the following. @administration = Administration.first I want this variable to be accessible through every controller action across all my controllers so for example if I have a Product controller and inside of it I have the usual CRUD actions, I want the @administration variable as defined above to be put into all the CRUD actions. (It would not be needed in destroy or create or update). I have many controllers throughout my project and I was wondering if there is an easier way than adding it manually through all of the actions that I want it in. I tried a global variable $administration = Administration.first but I run into an issue where it is not updated when I update the actual content of the Administration.first table. Also, I would like to avoid global variables. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

By adding all kinds of Log.xx I found that the code after if(bindService(...)) actually goes BEFORE ServiceConnection.onServiceConnected is being called - that is, when downloader is still null - which gets me into trouble. All the samples in ApiDemos avoid this timing problem by only calling services when triggered by user actions. But what should I do to right use this service after bindService succeeds? How can I wait for ServiceConnection.onServiceConnected being called reliably?
