• I Cannot retrieve ARPINSTALLLOCATION so we know where to install a new version

  I am trying to retrieve the ARPINSTALLLOCATION during the installation of a Major Upgrade version of the software. Following this info I managed to set the ARPINSTALLLOCATION to the custom path. However, retrieving it again isn't working. • Joining Tables Based on Foreign Keys

  I have a table that has a lot of fields that are foreign keys referencing a related table. I am writing a script in PHP that will do the db queries. When I query this table for its data I need to know the values associated with these keys not the key. How do most people go about this? A 101 way to do this would be to query this table for its data including the foreign keys and then query the related tables to get each key's value. This could be a lot of queries (~10). Question 1: I think I could write 1 query with a bunch of joins. Would that be better? This approach also requires the querying script to know which table fields are foreign keys. Since I have many tables like this but all with different fields, this means writing nice generic functions is hard. MySQL InnoDB tables allow for foreign constraints. I know the database has these set up correctly. Question 2: What about the idea of querying the table and identifying what the constraints are and then matching them up using whatever process I decide on from Question 1. I like this idea but never see it being used in code. Makes me think its not a good idea for some reason. I would use something like SHOW CREATE TABLE tbl_name; to find what constraints/relationships exist for that table. Thank you for any suggestions or advice.

• Solr/Lucene Scorer

  We are currently working on a proof-of-concept for a client using Solr and have been able to configure all the features they want except the scoring. Problem is that they want scores that make results fall in buckets: Bucket 1: exact match on category (score = 4) Bucket 2: exact match on name (score = 3) Bucket 3: partial match on category (score = 2) Bucket 4: partial match on name (score = 1) First thing we did was develop a custom similarity class that would return the correct score depending on the field and an exact or partial match. The only problem now is that when a document matches on both the category and name the scores are added together. Example: searching for "restaurant" returns documents in the category restaurant that also have the word restaurant in their name and thus get a score of 5 (4+1) but they should only get 4. I assume for this to work we would need to develop a custom Scorer class but we have no clue on how to incorporate this in Solr. Another option is to create a custom SortField implementation similar to the RandomSortField already present in Solr. Maybe there is even a simpler solution that we don't know about. All suggestions welcome!

  Ok, let me explain it little bit better. Here is one example how to create formula/functions http://blogs.msdn.com/b/eric_carter/archive/2004/12/01/273127.aspx?PageIndex=1#comments I implemented something like that, I even added values in registry, so that this Automation AddIn doesn't have to be added manually in Excel, but automatically.. I created SETUP project for this project and it works GREAT. Then.. After some time, I wanted to create buttons in Excel for functions that I use. Those are custom functions, using some web services. I created Excel AddIn and added Ribbon with buttons - one button = one custom function. I can publish this project and I am creating VSTO, so this way, I can install excel ribbon buttons in custom group of mine. Now, I have 2 installations, first for Automation AddIn and second for Excel AddIn. How can I connect them? I tried to include VSTO to Setup - something like this: [I WILL ADD IT LATER] When I install it, it works great, it installs both parts. But when I install on my friends computer, it doesn't shows Ribbon buttons. What could be the problem? If there is some other way to integrate those two, I would be very grateful!!!!! Thanks! Tijana

  Hi. I'm trying to upgrade my current application to use an abstract parent entity, with specialized sub entities. I've created a custom NSEntityMigrationPolicy, and in the mapping model I've set the Custom Policy to the name of my class. I'm initializing my persistent store like this, which should be fairly standard : NSError *error=nil; persistentStoreCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel: [self managedObjectModel]]; NSDictionary *options = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES], NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption, nil]; if (![persistentStoreCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:storeUrl options:options error:&error]) { NSLog(@"Error adding persistent store : %@",[error description]); NSAssert(error==nil,[error localizedDescription]); } When i run the app i get the following error : Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 134140.)' [error userInfo] contains "reason=Can't find mapping model for migration" I've verified that version 1 of the data model will open, and if i set NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption i get a migration, although my entities are not migrated correctly (as expected). I've verified that the mapping model (cdm) is in the application bundle, but somehow it refuses to find it. I've also set breakpoints and NSLog() statements in the custom migration policy, and none of it runs, with or without NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption Any hints as to why it seems unable to find the mapping model ?

• Handling form from different view and passing form validation through session in django

The reason why I went with this approach is because comment form is handled in a separate app. In my scenario, I render objects such as article and all I do is invoke the templatetag to render the form. What would be an alternative approach for my case? You also shared with me the django comment app, which am aware of but the client am working with requires a lot of complex work to be done in the comment app thats why am working on a new one.

  Hi guys I have an instance where I have a logo image as part of some artwork.. If a user uploads a new logo I have a form field which is larger than the default logo. I then use that form field to position the new image. • Sharing runtime variables between files

  I have a project with a few files that all include the header global.hpp. Those files want to share and update information that is relevant for the whole program during runtime (that data is gathered progressively during the program runs but the fields of data are known at compile-time). Is this the correct way to do this? NOTE: For this specific project no threading is used. But please (for future projects and other people reading) clarify in your answer how this (or your proposed) solution works when threaded. Also, for this example/project session variables are shared. But this should also apply to any other form of shared variables.

• String or binary data would be truncated -- Heisenberg problem

  When you get this error, the first thing you ask is, which column? Unfortunately, SQL Server is no help here. So you start doing trial and error. Well, right now I have a statement like: INSERT tbl (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) SELECT A, B * 2, C, D, E, q.F, G FROM tbl ,othertable q WHERE etc etc Note that Some values are modified or linked in from another table, but most values are coming from the original table, so they can't really cause truncation going back to the same field (that I know of). Eliminating fields one at a time eventually makes the error go away, if I do it cumulatively, but — and here's the kicker — it doesn't matter which fields I eliminate. It's as if SQL Server is objecting to the total length of the row, which I doubt, since there are only about 40 fields in all, and nothing large. Anyone ever seen this before? Thanks. UPDATE: I have also done "horizontal" testing, by filtering out the SELECT, with much the same result. In other words, if I say WHERE id BETWEEN 1 AND 100: Error WHERE id BETWEEN 1 AND 50: No error WHERE id BETWEEN 50 AND 100: No error I tried many combinations, and it cannot be limited to a single row.

• Objective-C properties are not being recognized in header file?

  Hey folks, I wonder if I'm doing something completely stupid here... I'm clearly missing something. I've gotten used to the pattern of defining properties of a custom class, however I seem to be hitting a point where extended classes do not recognize new properties. Case of point, here's my header file: import import "MyTableViewController.h" @interface MyRootController : MyTableViewController { NSMutableArray *sectionList; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *sectionList; @end Now, for some reason that "sectionList" property is not turning green within my interface file (ie: it's not being recognized as custom property it seems). As a result, I'm getting all kinds of errors down in my implementation. The first is right at the top of my implementation where I try to synthesize the property: import "MyRootController.h" @implementation MyRootController @synthesize sectionList; That synthesize line throws the error "No declaration of property 'sectionList' found in the interface". So, this is really confusing. I'm clearly doing something wrong, although I can't put my finger on what. One thought: I am extending another custom class of my own. Do I need to specify some kind of super-class declaration to keep the architecture from getting sealed one level up? Thanks!

• Testing InlineFormset clean methods

  I have a Django project, with 2 models, a Structure and Bracket, the Bracket has a ForeignKey to a Structure (i.e. one-to-many, one Structure has many Brackets). I created a TabularInline for the admin site, so that there would be a table of Brackets on the Structure. I added a custom formset with some a custom clean method to do some extra validation, you can't have a Bracket that conflicts with another Bracket on the same Structure etc. The admin looks like this: class BracketInline(admin.TabularInline): model = Bracket formset = BracketInlineFormset class StructureAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines = [ BracketInline ] admin.site.register(Structure, StructureAdmin) That all works, and the validation works. However now I want to write some unittest to test my complex formset validation logic. • Jquery Returning values to original

  So my script works perfectly, but here is the issue, I have buttons (Sprite action here) that are 40px height, but the top 20 only shows perfectly. When you click the button ie img the bottom 20px show perfecto! but... Issue, i included in my script a way to return all others to there default (only one should be selected) now, how can I fix this issue that I seem unable to correct as I can select multiple of them ** USERS can switch ** The last part of the script that is the issue.   I'm developing an application, which is looking for optimal route and timetable in public transport. I have some experience about Doctrine1, but it's my first time with Doctrine2. There is soem new fields to describe relations (mappedBy and inversedBy) and also some new ways of mapping. • Sizing issues while adding a .Net UserControl to a TabPage

  I have a complex Windows Forms GUI program that has a lot of automated control generation and manipulation. One thing that I need to be able to do is add a custom UserControl to a newly instatiated TabPage. However, when my code does this I get automatic resizing events that cause the formatting to get ugly. Without detailing all of the different Containers that could possibly be involved, the basic issue is this: At a certain point in the code I create a new tab page: TabPage tempTabPage = new TabPage("A New Tab Page"); Then I set it to a certain size that I want it to maintain: tempTabPage.Width = 1008; tempTabPage.Height = 621; Then I add it to a TabControl: tabControl.TabPages.Add(tempTabPage); Then I create a user control that I want to appear in the newly added TabPage: CustomView customView = new CustomView("A new custom control"); Here is where the problem comes in. At this point both the tempTabPage and the customView are the same size with no padding or margin and they are the size I want them to be. I now try to add this new custom UserControl to the tab page like this: tempTabPage.Controls.Add(customView); When making this call the customView and it's children controls get resized to be larger and so parts of the customView are hidden. Can anyone give me any direction on what to look for or what could be causing this kind of issue? Thanks ahead of time.

The issue that I have is that I don't understand what is the boundary, where do I get it from (because it doesn't appear in the html document that generates the POST and how should I make the post . • WPF: Binding an integer to a TextBlock with TemplateBinding

  I have a custom control in WPF. In this I have a DependencyProperty of the type integer. In the template for the custom control I have a TextBlock, I and would like to show the value of the integer in the TextBlock. But I can't get it to work. I'm using TemplateBinding. If I use the same code but change the type of the DependencyProperty to string it works fine. But I really want it to be an integer for the rest of my application to work. How can I do this? I've written simplified code that shows the problem. • Add class to textbox when invalid, using .Net Validators

  I'm working on a multipage form in .Net using AJAX (UpdatePanels). I am stuck right now trying to get a class added to the textbox that is invalid to basically highlight it red. For some reason this code does not ever fire in Firefox. I've looked up the DOMAttrModified event and it sounds like this should work in Firefox, hence it being in the code. I must be missing something though because it does not work. I'm open to other solutions for what I am trying to accomplish here if anyone has something good. Basically the form is 3 pages right now. Page 1 has a variable number of fields that require validation. It could be 5, or 13 fields, based on a checkbox. Page 2 has another set of fields that need to be validated separately. Obviously when I am on page 1 it should not try to validate page 2, and vice versa. Pleas help with either some help to fix the code I have, or an alternative.

• Extjs - Loading Grid when call

  I have form and grid. the user must enter data in form fields then display related records in the grid. I want to implement a search form, e.g: user will type the name and gender of the student, then will get a grid of all students have the same name and gender. So, I use ajax to send form fields value to PHP and then creat a json_encode wich will be used in grid store. I am really not sure if my idea is good. But I haven't found another way to do that. The problem is when I set autoLoad to true in the store, the grid automatically filled with all data - not just what I asked for - So, I understand that I have to set autoLoad to false, but then the result not shown in the grid even it returned successfully in the firebug! I don't know what to do. • Where to define a filter function for a form field in my Joomla component's preferences

  I am creating a component in Joomla 2.5. This component has some options that are defined in its config.xml, so they can be set in the preferences of the component. Now I would like to apply a filter to one of these option fields, using the attribute filter="my_filter". In the source code of JForm I saw the following lines at the very end of the implementation of JForm::filterField(): if (strpos($filter, '::') !== false && is_callable(explode('::', $filter))) { $return = call_user_func(explode('::', $filter), $value); } elseif (function_exists($filter)) { $return = call_user_func($filter, $value); } That's what I needed for using a filter function defined by myself! I managed to do this for form fields used in the views of my component. I defined the filter function as MyComponentHelper::my_filter(), where MyComponentHelper is a helper class which I always load in the very base of my component. And in the form's xml I added filter="MyComponentHelper::my_filter" to the fields that have to be filtered. However... when I am trying to apply the filter function to a form field in my component's preferences, I am not in my own component, but in com_config instead, so my helper class is not available! So, therefore, my question: where to define my own filter function in such a way that it can be found and called by JForm::filterField() in com_config?? Help is very much appreciated.

• Magento: Attribute always returns default value in catalog view, works fine in product view

  I've created a new Yes/No attribute for products. I've extended the Product model to do some custom logic and the custom functions are working everywhere. When I initially tried getting the custom attribute value, I ran into some issue. Magento wasn't loading it for me, so calls to $product-getMyAttributeName() did nothing. In the product views, I got it working with this additional function: public function getAttrVal($attr_name) { return $this->getResource()->getAttribute($attr_name)->getFrontend()->getValue($this); } So that worked great when viewing a product on the frontend. It would fetch the assigned value if set, or the default if not. When I view any Category (grid of all products in that category), the same exact code is being executed. But my getAttrVal() function always returns the default value, even if I've explicitly set this value for my product. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why the attribute loads correctly in the Product view but the Category view always grabs the default value, despite running the same exact code. Any thoughts?

• Form validation

  Hi guys, I need to create a form that has many of the same fields, that have to be inserted into a database, but the problem I have is that if a user only fills in one or two of the rows, the form will still submit the blank data of the empty fields along with the one or two fields the user has filled in. How can I check for the rows that have not been filled in and leave them out of the query? or check for those that have been filled in and add them to the query. . . The thank_you.php file will capture the $_POST variables and add them to the database. <form method="post" action="thank_you.php"> Name: <input type="text" size="28" name="name1" /> E-mail: <input type="text" size="28" name="email1" /> <br /> Name: <input type="text" size="28" name="name2" /> E-mail: <input type="text" size="28" name="email2" /> <br /> Name: <input type="text" size="28" name="name3" /> E-mail: <input type="text" size="28" name="email3" /> <br /> Name: <input type="text" size="28" name="name4" /> E-mail: <input type="text" size="28" name="email4" /> <input type="image" src="images/btn_s.jpg" /> </form> I am assuming that I could use javascript or jQuery to accomplish this, how would I go about doing this? • Use of 'super' keyword when accessing non-overridden superclass methods

  I'm trying to get the hang of inheritance in Java and have learnt that when overriding methods (and hiding fields) in sub classes, they can still be accessed from the super class by using the 'super' keyword. What I want to know is, should the 'super' keyword be used for non-overridden methods? Is there any difference (for non-overridden methods / non-hidden fields)? I've put together an example below. public class Vehicle { public int tyreCost; public Vehicle(int tyreCost) { this.tyreCost = tyreCost; } public int getTyreCost() { return tyreCost; } } and public class Car extends Vehicle { public int wheelCount; public Vehicle(int tyreCost, int wheelCount) { super(tyreCost); this.wheelCount = wheelCount; } public int getTotalTyreReplacementCost() { return getTyreCost() * wheelCount; } } Specifically, given that getTyreCost() hasn't been overridden, should getTotalTyreReplacementCost() use getTyreCost(), or super.getTyreCost() ? I'm wondering whether super should be used in all instances where fields or methods of the superclass are accessed (to show in the code that you are accessing the superclass), or only in the overridden/hidden ones (so they stand out).
