    There are lots of articles and discussions about the differences between ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC that compare the relative merits of the two frameworks. I have a different question for anyone who has experience using WebForms that has since moved to MVC: What is the number one thing that WebForms had, that MVC doesn't, that you really miss? Edit No-one has mentioned the WebForms validation controls. I am now working on some code that has a few dependant validation rules and implementing client-side validation for these is proving slow.

  • SQL to join to the best matching row

    I have a wiki system where there is a central table, Article, that has many Revisions in their own table. The Revisions each contain a created_at time and date column. I want to update the Articles to contain a denormalized field sort_name from the most recent Revision's name field. What SQL command can I issue to fill in each Article's sort_name field with its most recent Revision's name field? For what it's worth, I'm on PostgreSQL.

  • Why Internet Explorer can not display an image on the site?

How does it compares to using a traditional dependency injection framework such as Spring for wiring classes together. Is the resulting object graph (based on mixins rather than classes) easier to deal with from a maintenance point of view?

  • Localized License Agreements in Visual Studio Setup Projects?

    I've added a EULA using VS2005's built in License Agreement UI form in a Setup Project. This form has a LicenseFile property that you set to an RTF file that displays the EULA. Assuming I have a number of translated RTFs, how can I make the EULA that is displayed point to the appropriate RTF localized to the user's Windows CurrentCulture settings? I've seen some articles on WiX but at this point I need to stick with our current installation setup. Thanks!

  • Menu floating to the right on IE and to the left in FF

    I am working on a website that has a menu which behaves correctly on FF but not on IE (as usuall). On IE it floats to the right while it should float to the left, however if float is set to none it behaves almost correctly, attaching the onto the top of the container.     I've been trying to learn PHP OOP and have looked at multiple articles, but have yet to find a good resource for learning. I want to learn from the user of setters and getters, $this-, constructors, and so on...! Can anyone please suggest me something? I noticed MOST teachings leave out the explanation of $this-. I want to learn magic methods, decorators, encapsulation, etc... Feel free to suggest something that I haven't explicitly listed.
