    I would like to dynamically allocate memory from the machine_init function in my arm linux kernel. Calling kalloc can result in a complete failure of the system to boot. My debugging tools are very limited so I can't give much more information regarding the failure. Simply put, is it legal to call kalloc from a machine_init function in arm linux, and, if not, is there an alternative?

    Hi, I want to create a script that checks an URL and perform an action (download + unzip) when the "Last-Modified" header of the remote file changed. I thought about fetching the header with curl but then I have to store it somewhere for each file and perform a date comparison.   • How do you get the width of an element without a defined width?

    How would you find out the width of a element that is wrapped by 20 odd other elements, but the only fixed width I know is the main wrapper's which is 800px. All child elements are generally blocks, floating or not, with different paddings and margins. I don't really need the answer to a specific case, I'm just wondering if there are tools or tricks to quickly calculate such things. Thanks
