• ASP.NET MVC - Refresh PartialView when DropDownList changed

  I have a search form that is an Ajax form. Within the form is a DropDownList that, when changed, should refresh a PartialView within the Ajax form (via a GET request). However, I'm not sure what to do in order to refresh the PartialView after I get back my results via the GET request. • JavaMail not sending Subject or From under jetty:run-war

  Has anyone seen JavaMail not sending proper MimeMessages to an SMTP server, depending on how the JVM in started? At the end of the day, I can't send JavaMail SMTP messages with Subject: or From: fields, and it appears other headers are missing, only when running the app as a war. The web project is built with Maven and I'm testing sending JavaMail using a browser and a simple mail.jsp to debug and see different behavior when launching the app with: 1) mvn jetty:run (mail sends fine, with proper Subject and From fields) 2) mvn jetty:run-war (mail sends fine, but missing Subject, From, and other fields) I've meticulously run diff on the (verbose) Maven debug output (-X), and there are zero differences in the runtime dependencies between the two. I've also compared System properties, and they are identical. Something else is happening the jetty:run-war case that changes the way JavaMail behaves. What other stones need turning? Curiously, I've tried a debugger in both situations and found that the javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage instance is getting created differently. The webapp is using Spring to send email picked off of an Apache ActiveMQ queue. When running the app as mvn jetty:run the MimeMessage.contentStream variable is used for message content. When running as mvn jetty:run-war, the MimeMessage.content variable is used for the message contents, and the content = ASCIIUtility.getBytes(is); call removes all of the header data from the parsed content. Since this seemed very odd, and debugging Spring/ActiveMQ is a deep dive, I created a simplified test without any of that infrastructure: just a JSP using mail-1.4.2.jar, yet the same headers are missing. Also of note, these headers are missing when running the WAR file under Tomcat 5.5.27. Tomcat behaves just like Jetty when running the WAR, with the same missing headers. With JavaMail debugging turned on, I clearly see different output. • Adding ComboBoxItem to ComboBox Issue in Silverlight 4

  I recently upgraded my Silverlight app from 3 to 4. After a few hours of bashing my head against the wall, trying to resolve an issue, I've narrowed down the problem to this: I have a user control, with a ComboBox inside it. The ComboBox has a single ComboBoxItem child. The user control exposes a get accessors that returns the ComboBox's Items object, allowing me to add additional ComboBoxItems via xaml. This all worked fine in Silverlight 3, however it's not working in Silverlight 4. • Reset scale/width/zoom of Safari on iPhone using JavaScript/onorientationchange

  I am displaying different content depending on how the user is holding his/her phone using the onorientationchange call in the body tag. This works great - I hide one div while making the other visible. The div in portrait mode looks great on first load. I use this to get the right scale/zoom: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;" /> Even if the content in portrait mode run over, the width is correct and the user can scroll down. The display in landscape mode is perfect too. However, if content in landscape mode requires the user the scroll down, then when the user returns to portrait mode, the screen is "zoomed out" so to speak. This happens whether or not the user scrolled down while in landscape mode. I've tried many different things to try to get the scale/zoom/width of the screen right, but no luck. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

  I'm trying to update one value of a compound primary key from within the entity framework and I'm getting this error: "The property 'CustomerID' is part of the object's key information and cannot be modified. " Here is my code: Dim customer As Customer = (From c In db.Customer Where c.CustomerID = "xxx" AndAlso c.SiteKey = siteKey).FirstOrDefault customer.CustomerID = "fasdfasdf" db.SaveChanges() It seems too simple. Is it true you can't update a primary key within the entity framework? I can't find any documentation on the topic. Thanks!

• findViewById undefined

  Eclipse is marking findViewById(int) as undefined; it was doing the same thing for getResources(), but I was able to get around that by calling context.getResources() instead (as seen below) and can't seem to find a similar workaround for findViewById. • controller path not found for static images? asp.net mvc routing issue?

  I have an image folder stored at ~/Content/Images/ I am loading these images via <img src="/Content/Images/Image.png" /> Recently, the images aren't loading and I am getting the following errors in my error log. What's weird is that some images load fine, while others do not load. Anyone have any idea what is wrong with my routes? Am I missing an ignore route for the /Content/ folder? • Timeout Expired error Using LINQ

  I am going to sum up my problem first and then offer massive details and what I have already tried. Summary: I have an internal winform app that uses Linq 2 Sql to connect to a local SQL Express database. Each user has there own DB and the DB stay in sync through Merge Replication with a Central DB. All DB's are SQL 2005(sp2or3). We have been using this app for over 5 months now but recently our users are getting a Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. Detailed: The strange part is they get that in two differnt locations(2 differnt LINQ Methods) and only the first time they fire in a given time period(~5mins). One LINQ method is pulling all records that match a FK ID and then Manipulating them to form a Heirarchy View for a TreeView. The second is pulling all records that match a FK ID and dumping them into a DataGridView. The only things I can find in common with the 2 are that the first IS an IEnumerable and the second converts itself from IQueryable - IEnumerable - DataTable... I looked at the query's in Profiler and they 'seemed' normal. They are not very complicated querys. They are only pulling back 10 - 90 records, from one table. Any thoughts, suggestions, hints whatever would be greatly appreciated. • Ajax Minifier Visual Studio include all javascript files

  I am using the Ajax Minifier http://www.ajaxprojects.com/ajax/tutorialdetails.php?itemid=766 and have embedded it in the csproj file for use in Visual Studio 2008 (not the free version). I have two folders, Content and Scripts, directly under the root of the project. Also, the Content folder has subfolders, and would like to include all of these as well (if I have to manually add each subfolder that is fine as well). Currently, my csproj file looks like this (and is included within the Project tags as instructed). There are no build errors, the files simply do not get minified. • Sendmail Failing to Forward Locally Addressed Mail to Exchange Server

  I've recently gained employment as a web developer with a small company. What they neglected to tell me upon hire was that I would be administrating the server along with my other daily duties. Now, truth be told, I'm not clueless when it comes to these things, but this is my first rodeo working with a rack server/console.. However, I'm confident that I will be able to work through any solutions you provide. Short Description: When a customer places an order via our (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) website, a copy of said order is supposed to be BCC'd to our sales manager. I say supposed because this was a working feature before the old administrator left. Long Description: Shortly after I started, we had a server crash which required a server restart. After restart, we noticed a few features on our site weren't working, but all those have been cleaned up except this one. I had to create an account on our server for root access. When a customer places an order, our sites software (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) is configured to BCC the customers order email to our sales manager. We use a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server for our mail, which is hosted on a different machine (in-house) that I don't have access to ATM, but I'm sure I could if needed. As far as I can tell, all other external emails work.. Only INTERNAL email addresses fail to deliver. I know this because I've also tested my own internal address via our website. I set up an account with an internal email, made a test order, and never received the email. I changed my email for the account to an external GMail account, and received emails as expected. Let's dive into the logs and config's. For privacy/security reasons, names have been changed to the following: domain.com = Our Top Level Domain. email.local = Our Exchange Server. example.com = ANY other TLD. • Yii: Multi-language website - best practices.

  Hi, I find Yii great framework, and the example website created with yiic shell is a good point to start... however it doesn't cover the topic of multi-language websites, unfortunately. The docs covers the topic of translating short messages, but not keeping the multi-lingual content ... I'm about to start working on a website which needs to be in at least two languages, and I'm wondering what is the best way to keep content for that ... The problem is that the content is mixed extensively with common elements (like embedded video files). I need to avoid duplicating those commons ... so far I used to have an array of arrays containing texts (usually no more than 1-2 short paragraphs), then the view file was just rendering the text from an array. Now I'd like to avoid keeping it in arrays (which requires some attention when putting double quotations " " and is inconvenient in general...). So, what is the best way to keep those short paragraphs? Should I keep them in DB like (id | msg_id | language | content ) and then select them by msg_id & language? That still requires me to create some msg_id's and embed them into view file ... Is there any recommended paradigm for which Yii has some solutions? Thanks, m.

  We're stuck with using buffers on the SocketAsyncEventArgs object. With have strings arriving from the client in chunks and we can't seem to work out how the buffers work so we can process an entire string when we find a char3. • CSS div/overflow Question: Why does the first HTML file work but not the second?

  Notice how the first HTML/CSS works when you re-size the browser horizontally. It will shrink no further than around 800 pixels, but it will expand as far as you drag the right edge of the browser. It will also correctly overflow the table at the top and scroll it horizontally. The thing I don't like about the first code snippet is where the scrollbar is. I want it to show up within the borders of the fieldset, so even if I narrow the browser down to 800 pixels wide, I can see both the left and right sides of the fieldset's border. The second code snippet is exactly the same as the first except I add another div tag to the mix, inside of the field set and around the grid. Notice how the top fieldset's width won't correctly shrink when you make the viewport of your browser narrower. Any ideas on why it doesn't work, what I can do to get it to work like the first code snippet? I don't think I'm describing this clearly, but if you run the two side by side, and expand and contract the horizontal edge of your browser windows, you'll see the differences between the two. I'm pretty new to CSS and HTML layout, so my understanding of why CSS handles sizing the way it does in some situations is still really confusing to me. • Linq To Sql Concat() dropping fields in created TSQL

  This is strange. I am moving a stored proc to a service. The TSQL unions multiple selects. To replicate this I created multiple queries resulting in a common new concrete type. ProductID int Name string PriceA money PriceB money PriceC money In SQL Server Integration Services, I need to split this in to multiple records: ProductID int Version string // A, B, or C Price money // PriceA if A, PriceB if B, etc. This would be within a Data Flow, I presume as a Transformation between Excel source and OLE DB destination.   Looking for an better understanding of how an mvc project should define javascript and css includes. I'm working with sample code where includes are defined like: <head id="Head1" runat="server"> <title><asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="TitleContent" runat="server" />Affiliate Checkout</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache"> <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js"></script> . . . <asp:ContentPlaceHolder runat="server" ID="HeadContent"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </head> I'm reading that to be that _all pages looking at this MasterPage will get jquery and jqueryUI and, additionally, each page will have the opportunity to add head elements thankx to the content placeholder HeadContent tag. The specific problem i'm troubleshooting is an instance where my rendered page is not including the 'prama no-cache' tag - as you see, it's defined in the upper level header section. Other .js and .css elements are making it into the rendered page so it very confusing to see that the no-cache tag isn't. When execute a 'View Generated Source' - the 'charset' is present the 'no-cache' is not.

• Cache the result of a MySQLdb database query in memory

  Our application fetches the correct database server from a pool of database servers. So each query is really 2 queries, and they look like this: Fetch the correct DB server Execute the query We do this so we can take DB servers online and offline as necessary, as well as for load-balancing. But the first query seems like it could be cached to memory, so it only actually queries the database every 5 or 10 minutes or so. What's the best way to do this? Thanks.
