    Hello, I have two tables in a master-detail relationship. The structure is more or less as follows: Master table: MasterID, DetailID, date, ... masterID1, detailID1, 2010/5/1, .... masterID2, detailID1, 2008/6/14, ... masterID3, detailID1, 2009/5/25, ... masterID4, detailID2, 2008/7/24, ... masterID5, detailID2, 2010/4/1, ... masterID6, detailID4, 2008/9/16, ... Details table: DetailID, ... detailID1, ... detailID2, ... detailID3, ... detailID4, ... I need to get all the records from the details table plus the LAST record from the master table (last by the date in the master table). Like this: detailID1, masterID1, 2010/5/1, .... detailID2, masterID5, 2010/4/1, ... detailID3, null, null, ... detailID4, masterID6, 2008/9/16, ... I have no idea how to do this. Can anybody help me?   • Attaching an event to an Iframe that contains more iframes

    I have an editor which is in my window that contains a wrapping iframe and then 2 more iframes inside like (the HTML inside the <iframe> element is inserted via write() in JS, not hardcoded like this): <iframe class="parent"> <div class="wrapper"> <iframe class="editor"></iframe> <iframe class="previewer"></iframe> </div> </iframe> One is an editor, the other is a previewer. The first one that contains the two (we'll call this the parent) has an eventListener for mousemove attached to it, but nothing is firing. If i add a 5px border for example, the event will fire when I move my mouse on the border of the parent, but not when i hover over the middle which contains the editor or previewer (previewer is display:none while the editor is visible, and vice versa). So, the blue area in the following i can mousemove, but the rest I can't. It's most likely because of the stacking order, but how can I attach an event to fire on the entire frame? I need mousemove because on mousemove I display a menu in the bottom right. I want the same menu to display whether or not the editor or the previewer is visible.

    I'm having real difficulty with a query involving 3 tables. I need to get the 3 newest users per department grouped by department names. The groups should be sorted by the users.dateadded so the department with the newest activity is first. The users can exist in multiple departments so Im using a lookup table that just contains the userID and deptID. My tables are as follows. I simply try to render a js.erb template to an Ajax request for the following action (in publications_controller.rb): def get_pubmed_data entry = Bio::PubMed.query(params[:pmid])# searches PubMed and get entry @publication = Bio::MEDLINE.new(entry) # creates Bio::MEDLINE object from entry text flash[:warning] = "No publication found."if @publication.title.blank? and @publication.authors.blank? and @publication.journal.blank? respond_to do |format| format.js end end Currently, my get_pubmed_data.js.erb template is simply alert('<%= @publication.title %>') The server is responding with the following alert('Evidence for a herpes simplex virus-specific factor controlling the transcription of deoxypyrimidine kinase.') which is perfectly fine except that nothing happen in the browser, probably because the content-type of the response is 'text/html' instead of 'text/javascript' as shown by the response header partially reproduced here: Status 200 Keep-Alive timeout=5, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding chunked Content-Type text/html; charset=utf-8 Is this a bug or am I missing something?   • Suppressing the language select button iPhone

    I'm working on an application now that contains an account register section. One field with secureTextEntry = NO (for registering only). The idea is this make registration faster and hopefully increases the number of signups. It's simple enough for me to just place a regular UITextField but if the user has any additional language keyboards then it's possible for the user to enter non-password friendly characters. Unlike in when secureTextEntry = YES. I know I can do textField.keyboardType = UIKeyboardTypeASCIICapable to get the text field to display the ASCII keyboard first, but the user will still have the keyboard switch button which will allow them to get to undesirable characters. Is there a simple method for suppressing the international button or forcing ASCII only keyboard with no international button? [EDIT] Another perhaps better option might be to suppress multi byte keyboards or even to display the text in the case that secureTextEntry = YES any ideas here? [EDIT AGAIN] I've decided it's a really bad idea to suppress the international button as non-multibyte characters should all be allowed.

  • after .htaccess url rewrite, cannot perform logoff in some of the url rewrited page

    Recently, I was doing .htaccess url rewrite, make all my php url into html, in some page, the logout button wont work properly. for example, in page ‘quotedetails/Q9999.html’ (rewrited from ‘quotedetails.php?quoteID=Q9999'), when I click logout button in this page, it wont do the trick, but when i use the old php url of this page, it works again, other rewrited pages like index.html (index.php), search.html(search.php), all works perfectly. I use firebug to debug, after I click the logout button, it stays in the same page without redirect me to the index.html, but I saw the the ‘logoff’ params has been passed through, but just dont let me logout and redirect to index page. I’ve changed all the relavent file path to absolute path, still no luck…..help please. I’ve also noticed from firebug, that page cannot get the redirect ‘location’ as I tried in other pages, their response headers come with ‘location: index.html’, but in that no-workin-page, there is no such line called ‘location: index.html’ in its response headers.     I am having a problem with selecting a certain child node. What I want to achieve: I you have this treeview for example (one parent with two child nodes): Parent -Child with a value 5 -Child with a value 2. I want to add these two values and assign them to Parent node: Parent result 7 -Child 5 -Child 2. Of course, a bigger treeview would have several parents and lots of children and they will all add up to one root node. How can I do this?? pls help. thx, Caslav

    I have a list that I want to precede on each line with a small image. The CSS: .left div.arrow{background-image: url(../images/design/box.png); float:left; height:15px; width:15px; margin-right:2px;} .left a.list:link, a:visited, a:active {color:black; font-size:0.8em; text-decoration:none; display:block; float:left;} The HTML: <div class="panel">My quick links</div> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/messages.php?p=new" class="list">Send a new message</a> <br /> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/settings.php#password" class="list">Change my password</a> <br /> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/settings.php#picture" class="list">Upload a new site image</a> <br /> As you can see, each image should go before the writing. On the first line, the text "Send a new message" has the preceeding image. However, each line afterwards has the image at the end. So "Send a new message" has an image at the start and finish. It is like the images are staying at the end of the previous line. Any ideas?

The reason I want to do this is so if there isn't much content to display, the vertical border still goes all the way down.   • Is it bad use "display: table;" to organise a layout into 2 columns?

    Hello, I am trying to make a 2 column layout, apparently the bane of CSS. I know you shouldn't use tables for layout, but I've settled on this CSS. Note the use of display: table etc. div.container { width: 600px; height: 300px; margin: auto; display: table; table-layout: fixed; } ul { white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; display: table-cell; width: 40%; } div.inner { display: table-cell; width: auto; } With this layout: <div class="container"> <ul> <li>First</li> <li>Second</li> <li>Third</li> </ul> <div class="inner"> <p>Hello world</p> </div> </div> This seems to work admirably. However, I can't help wondering - am I obeying the letter of the "don't use tables" rule, but not the spirit? I think it's ok, since there's no positioning markup in the HTML code, but I'm just not sure about the "right" way to do it. I can't use css float, because I want the columns to expand and contract with the available space. Please, stack overflow, help me resolve my existential sense of dread at these pseudo-tables.

    I have a Ldirectord server and two real servers. My ldirectord used to check the request page on real server once in every interval, but now I found that it check four times. I have monitored the log on both real servers, they have the same problem. Here is my ldirectord configuration: checktimeout=10 checkinterval=5 autoreload=yes logfile="/var/log/ldirectord.log" quiescent=no virtual=192.168.1.100:80 fallback=127.0.0.1:80 real=192.168.1.10:80 gate real=192.168.1.20:80 gate service=http request="lb.html" receive="still alive" scheduler=sh persistent=60 protocol=tcp checktype=negotiate Ldirectord will connect to each real server once every 5 seconds (checkinterval) and request 192.168.0.10:80/test.html (real/request).   • Why is the colspan not working properly in this script? js bug or IE ?

    This question is related to this question I asked a little while back. The updated code is posted here. This to note is that i am looking to create a HTML table dynamically that looks similar to this: <table> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right">Header</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right">Header</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="right">Header</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Col1</td> <td>Col3</td> <td>Col4</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Col1</td> <td>Col3</td> <td>Col4</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> I can get this done in markup but when I do it in js the colspan does not seem to work in IE7. Any hep will be greatly appreciated.
