  • Trying to configure samba share with office server

    Hi, i'm trying to set up fstab to automatically connect to my office shared server. I'm undoubtedly doing something silly here as the username and password and server name work fine in the first code snippet below, just not the second - any help would be appreciated!   • Ubuntu 14.04 Notification incorrectly displayed

    I have a problem with my notifications on Ubuntu 14.04 x64. The notifications are just plain text with a colored background, and are also strangely placed in the top left corner. I have no idea on how it changed. After one reboot it was just there.. Here is a picture of the problem in question.: As you can see the notification appear over the unified menu. How can I restore the original state of the notification bubble? Due to the complexity of the single page, particularly the JavaScripts used, I've think creating a dedicated project for the client side of web development and another for service side will organize and simplify the development. solution | +-- web / client side (single html page, js, css) | - contains asp.net project, and nancy library | to host the modules in application ptoject folder | +-- application / service (nancy modules, bootstrap for other layer) | . . . and other layers (three teir, domain driven, etc) . Is this a good way of organizing a complex single page application? Am I over-engineering the web app, incurring too much complexity?

  • Passing Parameters Between Web-Services and JSF Pages

    This is another quick demo that shows a common scenario that combines several demos I did in the past. The scenario – we have two web services, one returns a list of objects, the other allows us to update an object. We want to build a page flow where the first page shows us the list of objects, allows us to select one, and then we can edit that instance in the next page and call the second web service to update our data source. The demo shows: How to select a row and save the object value in a pageFlowScope. (using setPropertyListener). How to create a page that allows me to modify the value of the pageFlowScope object, and how to pass the object as a parameter to the second Web service. Check it out here:

  • Having good domain name and using domain aliases ( I use notlong.com)?

    I use only free servers and after creating my website: http://pundaquit.republika.pl I decided to make access to that domain by simple domain name . I decided to use domain alias http://notlong.com/ service and have simple domain name http://pundaquit.notlong.com The second advantage of using alias here was to be independant from my file host which I will have to change. I haven't found a better alias service like notlong, because notlong.com is easy to remember. After that I encounter many problems: * most of forums or social services treat notlong adress as a spam, * Bing so far hvn't accepted http://pundaquit.notlong.com domain and others. Is it another way to have good free domain name? How about the situation when your hosting server will inform you to expire? Only a lasting layer of domain aliases make you independant from the real file hosts.

  • forked-daapd without avahi

    I'm trying to setup forked-daapd, but i'd prefer it if i could run it without avahi (or rather define my own avahi service instead of using the dbus api). The reason is that i want a netatalk share for my time machine backups and a samba share for the symbolic link support (netatalk doesn't support symlinks). Those two are defined as different services in avahi. To make that work, i have to disable avahi's dbus api, or else netatalk tends to take over all the services (osx prefers afp over smb). If I now try to start forked-daapd, it just doesn't. Forked-daapd requires avahi's dbus api to be enabled and running. Is there some sort of way around this limitation, so that i can manually define my own daap service in avahi. Maybe something like enabling but ignoring the dbus in avahi, or launching a duplicate avahi daemon with a different config file?

  • Network does not connect at boot

    I am on Ubuntu 12.04, fresh install. When I boot a machine, the boot screen says Connecting to network, later it is changed to something like Did not connect, trying for another 60s. However, the network does not connect at the boot. But I can then log in without a network connection, and if I start a network manager service manually from the terminal (sudo service network-manager start), the network is connected without any problems. Please, does anybody know where the problem could be? I don't want to wait more than two minutes every computer restart :-). I am new to Ubuntu (and also to upstart) so I am a bit lost. There is no /var/log/messages, in dmesg I found this record, though it may not be related: init: network-interface (eth1) pre-start process (492) terminated with status 1 init: network-interface (eth1) post-stop process (548) terminated with status 1 Thanks Daniel

  • Unity works on my PC but not on the Server. What did I miss?

    I have a web service using Microsoft Unity to hook the pieces together.  It all works fine on my PC but when I put it on the web server, I receive this error message: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: The value of the property 'type' cannot be parsed. The error is: Method 'GetClaimsForUser' in type 'WebService.Implementation.ClaimsRetriever' from assembly 'WebService.Implementation, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=62cac0f1a908971a' does not have an implementation. In each case I asked two questions:Can you provide me with a fixed IP Address?Is the equipment to be provided compatible with IPv6?None of the question was satisfactorily answered. One of the persons answering even suggested that granting a fixed IP Address would be a breach of security!I find it very disturbing that two companies that present themselves as innovative should still not be preparing for IPv6. The answer I would have expected was that all new equipment being supplied was IPv6 compatible and that plans were in hand for a switchover to IPv6. Instead new equipment would be supplied that would have to be replaced when IPv6 comes. Equally disturbing was that the call center people who answered did not know why a fixed IP address was important or why the change to IPv6 would have to come.I would rather not name and shame the two companies, however I will be looking elsewhere for my next Internet Service Provider.
