    On Linux, we can simply do: cp -pr directory How to do that in Windows? Can it be done in Windows Explorer? Any GUI tool suggestions? It would be the best if I can keep the NTFS permissions and creation/modification/access time. At a minimum, I need to preserve the modification date for the files and the directories. Windows Explorer's copy does not preserve the modification date for directories.

    I have cpp files peppered with comments such as the following before every function: /** * @brief Set the normal and expansion handshake timeouts. * * @param wm Array of wiimote_t structures. * @param wiimotes Number of objects in the wm array. * @param normal_timeout The timeout in milliseconds for a normal read. * @param exp_timeout The timeout in millisecondsd to wait for an expansion handshake. */ I assume from the format that there has to be some way of exporting this into a "friendly" format, perhaps html, which can then be read in a manner similar to the Java API. How would I do this? (I'm on Windows 7, running MS Visual Studio 2010)

In the LVM volume on server A, there is all average 500M avi wmv mp4 etc. I tried mounting /dev/mapper/vg_avdvdfiler-lv_root on server A to server B through NFS, then use cp to copy. It is clear I failed. Because the LVM volume is too big, I do not have good idea why. I hope a good solution here.

  • How can one make the title bar text have better contrast on dark colors in Windows 8?

    When Windows 8 color setting are set to a very dark color, such as black or navy blue, the title bar text and the minimize/maximize buttons are nearly invisible. This makes dark colors difficult to work with. In Windows 7 there was an advanced color options, this is gone in 8. The registry keys associated with this seem to still be present, but they have no effect. Is there a way to change this? Or a third party application that can do it? I don't want to use the ugly high contrast theme, I want to use the nice Win 8 theme with a dark color.

    Sorry for the confusing question, I'm not sure how to word it right: here's a mock sample of my data Name: Cheeseburger Date: 1/20/2011 Stock: 30 Price: 200 Name: Hamburger Date: 1/20/2011 Stock: 12 Price: 180 Name: Cheeseburger Date: 1/21/2011 Stock: 31 Price: 210 ... I will have to make a table in excel or access capable of looking up the stock and price trends of a particular brand through time. Trouble is, I have two independent variables (Stock, Price) and two known dependent variables (Name, Date). So, I cannot use a simple table where the x axis is the name, y axis is the time, and the cells represent a quantity - each cell have to represent two quantities (Stock, Price) Does anyone know how to do that?   • Can one use Airport (Time Capsule) with an external DHCP server?

    I currently share my DSL connection using a wireless router with DHCP disabled, and dnsmasq running on a Mac Mini serving DHCP & DNS. This setup is important because I have clients doing PXE boot, and I need the control over DHCP that dnsmasq provides. There is also a Time Capsule on the network that's used purely as a backup device; its wireless functions are disabled. The wireless router is starting to get a little flaky, and since it doesn't support 802.11n I'd like to replace it. Rather than buying a new router, I'd like to just use the Time Capsule. But I see no way to disable its DHCP server; when I set the connection type to PPPoE, it insists on serving DHCP. Is there any way to use Airport PPPoE with a DHCP server elsewhere on the network?

    So, ok. I have many php files and one index.php file. All files can't work without index.php file, because I include them in index.php. For example. if somebody click Contact us the URL will become smth like index.php?id=contact and I use $_GET['id'] to include contacts.php file. But, if somebody find the file's path, for example /system/files/contacts.php I don't want that that file would be executed. So, I figured out that I can add before including any files in index.php line like this $check_hacker = 1 and use if in every files beginning like this if($check_hacker <> 1) die();. So, how can I do it without opening all files and adding this line to each of them? Is it possible? Because I actually have many .php files. And maybe there is other way to do disable watching separate file? Any ideas? Thank you.

    Let me start by saying that I am not a DBA, but I am in a position where I am responsible for moving just under 100 MS-SQL 2008 DBs from our current development server, to a new/better/faster development server. As this is just a local dev server, temporary downtime is acceptable, but I am looking for a way to move all of the databases (preferably in bulk). I know that I could take a bak of each, and restore it on the new server, but given the volume of DBs, I am looking for a more efficient way. I am not opposed to learning a new piece of software, writing code or any other requirement, so long as it speeds up the process.

    Hey guys, I have 2 LANs in my own PC & 2 Routers (TP-Link WR941N each) with 2 internet accounts (512Kbps each) connected to the same ISP signal & company using NanoStation 5 from ubnt. As you know the connections work separately by default! (I use Windows 7 64bit) Can I merge them to get double speed (download/upload simultaneously) using regedit or special software or any other method? It can be important that: 1) You never know it is in an inconsistent state, so you try for 2 hours trying to debug the code for what's wrong. 2) With all the framework code -- potentially hundreds of files -- if some files are inconsistent with the other, can't the rake db:migrate or script/generate controller cause some damage or inconsistencies to the code base?

    I need to save the selected row and the vertical scrollBar's position after a refresh. This is how I do it: int currRow = myGrid.CurrentRowIndex; int vScrollPos = ((ScrollBar)myGrid.Controls[1]).Value // some code that refreshes the data among other things myGrid.CurrentRowIndex = currRow; // this sets the property myGrid.Select(currRow); // this selects in UI (both commands required) ((ScrollBar)myGrid.Controls[1]).Value = vScrollPos; Here's my problem: The grid always jumps to a place where the selected row is at the bottom. setting the current row makes it happen - similar to EnsureVisible of newer grid implementations. But after that there's the vScrollBar repositioning - and it just doesn't work right. In debug I see that the scroll bar value gets updated. In the UI, if I hit the down/up arrow on the scrollbar it suddenly jumps to the right place - But if I don't click anything the grid is just in the wrong position. I tried refreshing the grid/scroll bar to force a redraw, but it doesn't help. The actual grid position is just not in sync with the vertical ScrollBar's value. Any ideas?

    I have gone ahead and selected the Windows Classic theme in WIN7's "Window Color and Appearance" to turn off Aero. I'm looking to replicate the "windows XP style" theme due to some screen recognition software that was built on an XP machine. Is it possible to edit/import the "windows XP style" theme file and use it in WIN7? I am mostly looking to get the colors/fonts similar. Windows/buttons would be good too.
