• Taking screenshot with Win32 API (C# pInvoke) not working in IIS

  I want to take a screenshot of an external website. Currently my workflow is to start a Firefox instance with the specified URL and take a screenshot using PrintWindow in the Win32 API When I run this application in IISExpress it works fine but when I run the same application in IIS on a windows VPS it is not working (screenshot is blank). I don't know what I'm doing wrong?   Hi, I'm writing an application in WPF, using the MVVm toolkit and have problems with hooking up the viewmodel and view. The model is created with ado.net entity framework. • WPF Using commands to slow to update UI controls

  Hi, I bind a command to a button through command property and doing a command binding in the page it is placed. In execute method I create an instance of a class that contains the background worker and I start it (this is a long task). The background worker (bw) class contains a variable isRunning that it is set to true before DoWork method is executed and to false when RunWorkerCompleted is executed. So from the code behind of the page where button is placed, in CanExecute method I set e.canExecute to true if bw is no running (isRunning = false), and e.canExecute to false if isRunning = true. WHen I press the button, it launch bw process for a long time and the button gets disabled. Ok this is correct, but when background worker (bw) finishes, the button doesn't returns to enabled until I press it again. When it is disabled and I press (when bw is finished) it gets enabled. • WCF Certificate issue

  I am developing a WCF service on my local computer using Visual Studios built in ASP.NET development sever and I'm having issues creating and using temporary Certificates. I have created a cert call TempCA and added it to the Trusted Root Certificate folder and I have created another called SignedByCA which has been added to the personal folder. The service config file has been set up to use SignedByCA but when I run the service I get the following error. The certificate 'CN=SignedByCA' must have a private key that is capable of key exchange. The process must have access rights for the private key. I have tried using WinHttpCertCfg.exe to give other users access to the key but I have since found out that WinHttpCertCfg.exe has be deprecated in windows Vista. Has anyone had this issue before in a similar circumstance??

  I want my ViewPager implementation to cycle between views instead of stopping at the last view. For example, if I have 3 views to display via a ViewPager, it should return back to the first View after the third View on fling instead of stopping at that third view. • Paging over a lazy-loaded collection with NHibernate

  I read this article where Ayende states NHibernate can (compared to EF 4): Collection with lazy=”extra” – Lazy extra means that NHibernate adapts to the operations that you might run on top of your collections. That means that blog.Posts.Count will not force a load of the entire collection, but rather would create a “select count(*) from Posts where BlogId = 1” statement, and that blog.Posts.Contains() will likewise result in a single query rather than paying the price of loading the entire collection to memory. Collection filters and paged collections - this allows you to define additional filters (including paging!) on top of your entities collections, which means that you can easily page through the blog.Posts collection, and not have to load the entire thing into memory. So I decided to put together a test case. • Java: error handling with try-catch, empty-try-catch, dummy-return

  A searh uses recursively defined function that easily throws exceptions. I have tried 3 ways to handle exeptions: to ignore with an empty-try-catch() add-dummy-return stop err-propagation due to exeption throw a specific except. (this part I don't really understand. If I throw except, can I force it to continue elsewhere, not continuing the old except-thrown-path?) Some exceptions I do not realy care like during execution removed files -exception (NullPointer) but some I really do like unknown things. Possible exceptions: // 1. if a temp-file or some other file removed during execution -> except. // 2. if no permiss. -> except. // 3. ? --> except. The code is Very import for the whole program. I earlier added clittered-checks, try-catches, avoided-empty-try-catches but it really blurred the logic. Some stoned result here would make the code later much easier to maintain. It was annoying to track random exeptions due to some random temp-file removal! How would you handle exceptions for the critical part? • WinForms Form won't close on pressing X or Close() in C#

  I'm having a bit weird problem with WinForm which seems to refuse to close for some weird reason. I've got very simple gui which sometimes doesn't react for me pressing X or when i use events on buttons it even reaches Close() and does nothing.. private void buttonZapisz_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string plik = textBoxDokumentDoZaladowania.Text; if (File.Exists(plik)) { string extension = Path.GetExtension(plik); string nazwaPliku = Path.GetFileName(plik); SqlMethods.databaseFilePut(plik, comboBoxTypDokumentu.Text, textBoxKomentarz.Text, sKlienciID, sPortfelID, extension, nazwaPliku); Close(); } } There are no events assigned to FormClosed or FormClosing. So how can I find out what's wrong. Sometimes X will work after the GUI is loaded but after i press Button to save some stuff to database it reaches Close() in that button event and it still is visible and does nothing. Can't use X, nor ALT+F4. I can go around GUI and choose other values for ComboBox without problem.   I'm writing an app that allows users search and browse catalogs of widgets. My WidgetCatalog class is serialized and deserialized to and from XML files using DataContractSerializer. My app is working now but I think I can make the code a lot more efficient if I started taking advantage of data binding rather then doing everything manually. Here's a stripped down version of my current WidgetCatalog class. [DataContract(Name = "WidgetCatalog")] class WidgetCatalog { [DataContract(Name = "Name")] public string Name { get; set; } [DataContract(Name = "Widgets")] public List<Widget> Widgets { get; set; } } I had to write a lot of extra code to keep my UI in sync when widgets are added or removed from a catalog, or their internal properties change. I'm pretty inexperienced with data-binding, but I think I want a BindingList<Widget> rather than a plain old List<Widget>. Is this right? In the past when I had similar needs I found that BindingList<T> does not serialize very well. Or at least the Event Handers between the items and the list are not serialized. I was using XmlSerializer though, and DataContractSerializer may work better. So I'm thinking of doing something like the code below.   After performing a FormView.InsertItem, I am unable to read the new values from the bound object within the LLBLGenProDataSource that the FormView is bound to. I have tracing turned on, I can see the insert happen, and the data does make it into the database, yet when I examine the contents of LLBLGenProDataSource.EntityCollection(0) (there is only one item in the collection) I do not see the values from the FormView.....yet, they are somehow being inserted into the database. • How should I provide access to this custom DAL?

  I'm writing a custom DAL (VB.NET) for an ordering system project. I'd like to explain how it is coded now, and receive some alternate ideas to make coding against the DAL easier/more readable. The DAL is part of an n-tier (not n-layer) application, where each tier is in it's own assembly/DLL. The DAL consists of several classes that have specific behavior. For instance, there is an Order class that is responsible for retrieving and saving orders. Most of the classes have only two methods, a "Get" and a "Save," with multiple overloads for each. These classes are marked as Friend and are only visible to the DAL (which is in it's own assembly). In most cases, the DAL returns what I will call a "Data Object." This object is a class that contains only data and validation, and is located in a common assembly that both the BLL and DAL can read. To provide public access to the DAL, I currently have a static (module) class that has many shared members. A simplified version looks something like this: Public Class DAL Private Sub New End Sub Public Shared Function GetOrder(OrderID as String) as OrderData Dim OrderGetter as New OrderClass Return OrderGetter.GetOrder(OrderID) End Function End Class Friend Class OrderClass Friend Function GetOrder(OrderID as string) as OrderData End Function End Class The BLL would call for an order like this: DAL.GetOrder("123456") As you can imagine, this gets cumbersome very quickly. I'm mainly interested in structuring access to the DAL so that Intellisense is very intuitive. As it stands now, there are too many methods/functions in the DAL class with similar names. One idea I had is to break down the DAL into nested classes: Public Class DAL Private Sub New End Sub Public Class Orders Private Sub New End Sub Public Shared Function Get(OrderID as string) as OrderData End Function End Class End Class So the BLL would call like this: DAL.Orders.Get("12345") This cleans it up a bit, but it leaves a lot of classes that only have references to other classes, which I don't like for some reason. Without resorting to passing DB specific instructions (like where clauses) from BLL to DAL, what is the best or most common practice for providing a single point of access for the DAL?
