• Stream post URL security and wall post links

  Our app's mobile client can create wall post links to our app's web-facing pages. Since this happens in the context of a mobile app, we do this on behalf of our user using the Graph API's feed/message endpoint. I noticed that the links showing up in the wall posts are being routed through our app's auth dialog, which is NOT what we want. We just want transparent links, without forcing the client to auth our app, similar to what happens when you share to FB in Path. I went ahead and disabled the "Stream post URL option" several hours ago, but we still seem to be getting the re-routed links for wall posts. The target URLs for these links are within the domain we've registered for our Facebook app. Is there anything else I need to do fix this?

• C# failing LDAP queries

  I'm trying to access an LDAP directory via the SearchRequest object in C#. I can make the same calls via an LDAP library running in and iPhone app, as well as directly via a terminal session. However, the C# queries all seem to fail. var search = new SearchRequest("ou=calendar,dc=ualberta,dc=ca", "term=*,course=094398,class=*", System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.SearchScope.Subtree, attributeLst); This returns a list of terms for the course calendar. However, making the following calls won't return results for specific courses var search = new SearchRequest("ou=calendar,dc=ualberta,dc=ca", "term=1330,course=094398", System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.SearchScope.Subtree, attributeLst); The attributeLst object has proper attribute names included, but the query always returns with zero results. Any suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi guys, I would like to know if it is possible to re-size and re-position a greybox or shadowbox window to display in a certain div element? I am creating a template for a wordpress site, and I am using the default calendar, but when you click on a date inside of the calendar, the default action is to open it up in a new window. Would it be possible to mod greybox or shadowbox in such a way that when you click on a date, the box opens up over the calendar displaying the contents in it, instead of a new page? Or is there another way of achieving the desired result, maybe with jQuery or Javascript? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx in advance!

  I try to use AlarmManager to setup an alarm that happens after some seconds from now. Here is my code: AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager)context.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE); Intent intent = new Intent(ALARM_ACTION); PendingIntent alarmIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(getBaseContext(), 0, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT); Calendar rightNow = Calendar.getInstance(); rightNow.add(Calendar.SECOND, NumOfSecond); am.set(AlarmManager.RTC, rightNow.getTimeInMillis(), alarmIntent); For example, if rightNow is 8:00AM and I hope my alarm happens after 14400 seconds, that is 12:00PM, so NumOfSecond will be set as 14400. But when the code runs what happens is the alarm not always happens exactly at 12:00PM, sometimes it will be delayed by 1 or 2 minutes, or even 5 minutes! Does any one know what the heck is happened here?

I have a feeling its because of the fact that 4.3 is not using /Developer folder but instead the /Applications/XCode.app/... • How does Rails find models and controllers? How can I get it to load more models?

  I'm trying to create a non-ActiveRecord model in app/models/gamestate.rb. Then inside my controller (PlayController) I should be able to do GameState.new, right? No go: NameError (uninitialized constant PlayController::GameState): app/controllers/play_controller.rb:23:in `play' (at least in the development environment) But! If I do have a model called app/models/play.rb, then it's automatically loaded and I can do Play.new. So my question is: how does Rails know which classes to load? What sort of name mangling does it do to get from play#action to PlayController to app/controllers/play_controller.rb to app/models/play.rb? It seems awfully fragile, but maybe a better understanding of how this works would help. And finally, how can I get it to load app/models/gamestate.rb?

  Hello, I'm trying to build my own custom control for a windows forms application in C#.Net. Currently I paint some rectangles and other graphic elements using the paint event. When I now resize the app form to fit the desktop size, all elements are repainted (which is exactly the behaviour I need) but the old one's are shown in the background. • RAD Visual Web Application Creator/ Builder/ Designer for PHP

  Hi all, I want to see if any of you know a (free and open source will be ideal) tool/ app that can help build a php web application very quickly without investing too much time on writing codes, preferring drag and drop/ point and click work-flow designer for logic design (see Agile from Outsystems below). Plus, visual designer for the business logic is great since it can help a developer visualize the logic better. There are a lot of GUI builders, form builders out there, but I am looking for one app for the entire web application development process. My goal is to find an application that a team of developers can use together and use the build-in code of the app as much as possible. E.g. the app will provide a modular just for handle user login or a shopping cart; a developer just need to drag and drop the modular to the logic designer and the code will be generated. This way the functionality will be in a module and code will always be standard across developers. So if a new developer get on-board, he will just need to use the system and get up and running quickly. To explain this better: there is a lot php frameworks, e.g. cakephp, CodeIgniter, etc which I can use to help coding, but still I need to create (code) the GUI, writing quite a bit of codes. I am looking for a tool/ app that is a little more high level than those frameworks. Here is 2 examples apps I found during my google search which they have visual logic designer and gui builder in one single app. Also a single click deployment (but I need it to be php apps or at least I can deploy the (php) code to a LAMP/ WAMP server): Wavemaker: for JAVA Agile from Outsystems: for JAVA or .net (This one is really good, with work-flow drag and drop logic designer!) Talend: it is just an ETL tool, but the concept is what I want to bring up. Drag and drop, point and click logic design. Custom code can be added if it is needed, but the drag and drop process already finished the structure and most of the coding of the web app one needs to build. I want to list Adobe Flex, but it is more like a GUI designer + IDE, not exactly what I want to describe here. The drag and drop/ work-flow logic designer is a key for the app. I could go for the CMS route by learning how to extend them, but it is not that flexible for me and is a long learning curve. Anybody came across this type of app before? Or any idea of how can I find those apps? I googled them for long time, I don't see any of them for php and just few (just 2) for Java. • How can I utilize or mimic Application OnStart in an HttpModule?

  We are trying to remove the global.asax from our many web applications in favor of HttpModules that are in a common code base. This works really well for many application events such as BeginRequest and PostAuthentication, but there is no Application Start event exposed in the HttpModule. I can think of a couple of smelly ways to overcome this deficit. • SQLite REGEXP initializer not working in production on Heroku

  I am using this to create a REGEXP in SQLite with rails because SQLite does not support REGEXP. When running this app on Heroku rather than the localhost it does not work. Is the initializer not being run when the app launches? • For the iPad or iPhone, how do you control the system Volume? For example, have a button that mutes

  I would like to make a button in my iPad app (probably will be similar to iPhone apps) that when I push this button, all audio is muted, even when you exit the app. I don't see anyway that you can control the volume, although I'm sure other apps have that I have seen in the app store for the iPhone. I also read some places that doing this would reject you from the app store. How could I go about lowering, or highering the volume of the iPad from an app that works even when the app closes? • iPhone - how to be notified of call completion

  Hi- I'm developing an application that needs to take action on completed phone calls, preferably right after the call ends but minimally once per day. I've read up on the new CoreTelphony framework, and it seems I can get call events if my app is active, but I don't see how to launch/wake my app when a call ends if my app is not the foreground app. I also don't see how any of the new pseudo-background "modes" would allow my app to listen for these events in the background. Do any of you know how this might be done? If post-call processing isn't possible, then I'd like to figure out a way to automatically wake my app up once per day, pull all of the call events since the last wakeup, and process them. I know how I might do this with Push or Local notifications, but my understanding is that those require user action to continue; in this case, I just want the processing to happen automatically. Is there a mechanism that would enable this? Thanks, Dan

  Lets say I have: a static library project called "LIB" a application project called "LIBAPP" a application project called "APP" a application project called "APPTEST" When i add "LIB" to LIBAPP Project Dependencies, Visual Studio automatically links "LIBAPP" against LIB. But when i add APP to APPTEST Project Dependencies, it doesnt. Since i am doing unit tests of APP's classes in APPTEST, i have to link against APP, therefore i am currently manually linking against all *.obj files of APP (hundreds...) Since i have to change the link targets of APPTEST everytime i add or remove a *.cpp file from APP, this isnt a nice solution. So is there a way to force Visual Studio to do this for me automatically, like it does when adding a static library Project Dependency ?

  I have tried to write an Android application with an activity that should be launched from a different application. It is not a content provider, just an app with a gui that should not be listed among the installed applications. I have tried the code examples here and it seems to be quite easy to launch existing providers and so on, but I fail to figure out how to just write a "hidden" app and launch it from a different one. The basic use case is: App A is a normal apk launchable from the application list. App B is a different apk with known package and activity names, but is is not visible or launchable from the application list. App A launches app B using the package and class names (or perhaps a URI constructed from these?). I fail in the third step. Is it possible to do this?

• Can I set a style for the content of an iframe from the main page?

  We have a page the embeds a Google Calendar in an iframe. Recently, a warning box div began appearing on the calendar that looks like this: <div id="warningBox" style="color:#aa0000;">Events from one or more calendars could not be shown here because you do not have the permission to view them.</div> Obviously the best solution here is to find the private events and remove them, but so far the search for those events has proved fruitless. This calendar is an aggregate of several calendars, including a few we don't control (ie weather). We're still looking, but in the meantime, I would like to try to hide that div. I know that iframes enforce the separation between the pages, such that the child page is pretty much a law unto itself. But surely there must be some way to set a style on an element inside the frame?

• Multiple Rails forks with separate designs and layouts

  I have a Rails project that is basically a simple web app for a membership-based organization. We've open sourced the code on Github for the web app so that others can use it, but have a licensed design/layout that the original organization is going to use. This layout cannot be open sourced. I was wondering if others have run into the situation where you have an open-source Rails app with a non-OS design. My initial thought is to put app/views in .gitignore, and to have anyone forking the code add their own views directory, perhaps including an app/views_default directory with a web-app-theme layout or something else to get people running. Is this the best option (realizing that there are other files such as JavaScript, CSS, etc that come with the layout that must also be ignored). Does anyone have some good thoughts or pointers on this?

  In short: I need to find a way to implement swipe action (touchEvent) for my Calendar just like the default Android Calendar one. I am using GridView to make a calendar for my application. When I touch any date, I launch an activity to display details on that date. My problem is that now I tried to implement swipe to change month/year to display but I dont know a way to do it. I tried to use setOnTouchListener on GridView but it seems like detecting for each grid separately instead of the whole grid as one. Further problem would be that it overridden my onItemClick implementation as well.

  Is there some way to change Rails environments mid-way through a test? Or, alternately, what would be the right way to set up a test suite that can start up Rails in one environment, run the first half of my test in it, then restart Rails in another environment to finish the test? The two environments have separate databases. Some necessary context: I'm writing a Rails plugin that allows multiple installations of a Rails app to communicate with each other with user assistance, so that a user without Internet access can still use the app. They'll run a local version of an app, and upload their work to the online app by saving a file to a thumbdrive and taking it to an Internet cafe. The plugin adds two special environments to Rails: "offline-production" and "offline-test". I want to write functional tests that involve both the "test" and "offline-test" environments, to represent the main online version of the app and the local offline version of the app respectively.

• Pre loaded database on iPhone?

  Hi, I have recently developed an app using core data as the storage db. The app allowed the user to read and write to the db. I am now developing a new app which the user doesnt need to write anything to the db, instead the app just needs to read the data. The data has relationships etc so cannot just use a plist or something similar. My question is should I use core data for such a requirement and if so how would i go about entering the data and then releasing the app. Would I have to code the data entry which would populate the db then remove all this code (as I dont want the database to repopulate every time the user opens the app)?? Is there a way to create a core data model using sql commands as with sqlite ie insert into..... etc? Any ideas/thoughts would be very helpful. Many thanks Jules

  On a fresh mac os x 10.8 install, i've Quantum GIS Installed from Kingchaos binaries and running fine. I'm trying to develop a plugin for QGIS, and using Plugin Builder. The skel that Plugin Builder, produces, should work off-the-shelf, but it does not compile using the makefile. Somewhere python can't find (pyuic.py), and it searches for (/Users/kyngchaos/...), path. • How can I use a pre-populated core data DB on my device.

  Hi all, I have developed my app using core data. It works fine in the simulator. When I deploy it to the device the DB is empty. It is 49k where it should be 484k. Basically it is not populated. Since I don't write to the DB when the app is running I need to provide a populated DB to the App. So I copied the populated DB from the simulator to resources and then deploy. Still no luck. the populated DB is in MyApp.app and the AppDelegate is reading from the Documents directory.
