• PHP MySQL Update query

  I have a website that has an update query. Example. Table name - myTable Table Content - id(AI) name -- myName age -- 13 image -- (no values) birthdate -- (no values) I only put values in name and age. In image and birthdate, I haven't put anything. If I edit it and update it and I don't put anything in name and in age, I only put values in image and in birthdate. The output is like this. • Validation Summary with JQuery in MVC 2

  I'm trying to get client validation working on my asp.net mvc 2 web application (Visual Studio 2010). The client side validation IS working. However the validation summary is not. I'm including the following scripts <script type="text/javascript" src="../../content/scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../content/scripts/jquery.validate.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../content/scripts/MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js"></script> Have this before this form is started <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> and inside the form is <%: Html.ValidationSummary("There are some errors to fix.", new { @class = "warning_box" })%> <p> <%: Html.LabelFor(m => m.Name) %><br /> <%: Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Name) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.Name, "*") %> </p> I have that latest version of MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js from the MvcFutures download, but it doesn't look like it supports Validation Summary. I've tried correcting this by setting extra options such as errorContainer and errorLabelContainer, but it looks like there's some more underlying issues with it. Is there an updated / better version of this file around?

• MVC Multiple submit buttons on a array of objects

  Hi, I've got a list of objects in an MVC view, each with a set of submit buttons - Move up, Move down and Remove. Using the answer from this question, I can get the button clicked - but I need to know which item it would be operating on. The problem comes from the fact the input's value attribute is passed back, I need more information than that - i.e. an id. Below is a snippet of the contents of a for loop, rendering each item. <ul> <li><input type="submit" name="SubmitButton" value="Move-Up" class="linked-content-position-modifier" /></li> <li><input type="submit" name="SubmitButton" value="Move-Down" class="linked-content-position-modifier" /></li> <li><input type="submit" name="SubmitButton" value="Remove" class="linked-content-modifier" /></li> <li><%= Model.Contents[i] %></li> </ul> When the form is posted back, I can see that the SubmitButton has a value of either Move-Up, Move-Down or Remove - but no idea which item in the array it's referring too. Without changing the value to something really ugly, how would I tell which item it's referring to?

• jquery tab switching links so they jump to top of page?

  I was given some great help by redsquare to get this far to change jquery tabs from links within the content, but I have one more issue that I'm looking for support on... When a user clicks a link to switch to a different tab from within the content, can i get the page to jump to the top of the page? Within my demo link, scroll to the bottom of the page to click the links and they switch tabs just perfectly, which you can confirm if you scroll up. So, I'm looking for the switch to also jump the user to the top of the page, so the user doesn't have to "scroll" to the top of the page to begin reading new content. • Problem converting a byte array into datatable.

  Hi, In my aspx page I have a HTML inputfile type which allows user to browse for a spreadsheet.Once the user choses the file to upload I want to read the content of the spreadsheet and store the content into mysql database table. Binary stream '0' does not contain a valid BinaryHeader. Possible causes are invalid stream or object version change between serialization and deserialization. Could someone please tell me what am I doing wrong? I've also tried converting the bytearray into string ,then converting the string back to byte array and convert into datatable.That is also throwing the same error. Thanks.

• Using Jquery UI Tab control in ASP.NET MVC

  I am new to jquery and am trying out UI plugins. For some reason this following code does not work, in the sense, it does not render the tabs and it's just a bunch of text. But when I copy the page source and paste it in the html page, and put it in the views folder, everything looks great, so , I assume all the js paths are good. • Differing paths for lua script and app

  My problem is that I'm having trouble specifying paths for Lua to look in. For example, in my script I have a require("someScript") line that works perfectly (it is able to use functions from someScript when the script is run standalone. However, when I run my app, the script fails. I believe this is because Lua is looking in a location relative to the application rather than relative to the script. Hardcoding the entire path down to the drive isn't an option since people can download the game wherever they like so the highest I can go is the root folder for the game. We have XML files to load in information on objects. In them, when we specify the script the object uses, we only have to do something like Content\Core\Scripts\someScript.lua where Content is in the same directory as Debug and the app is located inside Debug. If I try putting that (the Content\Core...) in Lua's package.path I get errors when I try to run the script standalone. I'm really stuck, and am not sure how to solve this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. P.S. When I print out the default package.path in the app I see syntax like ;.\?.lua in a sequence like... ;.\?.lua;c:...(long file path)\Debug\?.lua; I assume the ; means the end of the path, but I have no idea what the .\?.lua means. Any Lua file in the directory?

• IRP_MJ_WRITE latency up to 15 seconds

  We have written an application that performs small (22kB) writes to multiple files at once (one thread performing asynchronous queued writes to multiple locations on behalf of other threads) on the same local volume (RAID1). 99.9% of the writes are low-latency but occasionally (maybe every minute or two) we get one or two huge latency writes (I have seen 10 seconds and above) without any real explanation. Platform: Win2003 Server with NTFS. Monitoring: Sysinternals Process Monitor (see link below) and our own application logging. We have tried multiple things to try and solve this that have been gleaned from a few websites, e.g.: Making the first part of file names unique to aid 8.3 name generation Writing files to multiple directories Changing Intel Disk Write Caching Windows File/Printer Sharing Minimize memory used Balance Maximize data throughput for file sharing Maximize data throughput for network applications System-Advanced-Performance-Advanced NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate - use fsutil behavior set disablelastaccess 1 disable 8.3 name generation - use "fsutil behavior set disable8dot3 1" + restart Enable a large size file system cache Disable paging of the kernel code IO Page Lock Limit Turn Off (or On) the Indexing Service But nothing seems to make much difference. There's a whole host of things we haven't tried yet but we wondered if anyone had come across the same problem, a reason and a solution (programmatic or not)? We can reproduce the problem using IOMeter and a simple setup: Start IOMeter and remove all but the first worker thread in 'Topology' using the disconnect button. Select the Worker thread and put a cross in the box next to the disk you want to use in the Disk Targets tab and put '2000000' in Maximum Disk Size (NOTE: must have at least 1GB free space; sector size is 512 bytes) Next create a new access specification and add it to the worker thread: Transfer Request Size = 22kB 100% Sequential Percent of Access Spec = 100% Percent Read/Write = 100% Write Change Results Display Update Frequency to 5 seconds, Test Setup Run Time to 20 seconds and both 'Number of Workers to Spawn Automatically' settings to zero. Select the Worker Thread in the Topology panel and hit the Duplicate Worker button 59 times to create 60 threads with identical settings. Hit the 'Go' button (green flag) and monitor the Results tab. The 'Maximum I/O Response Time (ms)' always hits at least 3500 on our machine. Our machine isn't exactly slow (Xeon 8 core rack server with 4GB and onboard RAID). I'd be interested to see what other people get. We have a feeling it might be something to do with the NTFS filesystem (ours is currently 75% full of fragmented files) and we are going to try a few things around this principle. But it is also related to disk performance since we don't see it on a RAMDisk and it's not as severe on a RAID10 array. Any help is much appreciated. • Usercontrol losing Viewstate across Postback

  I have a user control which uses objects as inner properties (some code is below). I am having trouble with setting the attribute of the Step class programmatically, when set programmatically it is being lost across postback which would indicate something to do with Viewstate (?). When setting the property of the Step class declaratively it's working fine. • How to debug a native Java crash on Linux?

  I've seen this question and this article on how to debug a native Java crash. The article is with respect to Windows. What are the equivalent debugging aids on Linux? Note: All I have is this crash log from a user in the field. I do not have access to the machine on which the crash occurred. Update: I am pretty sure the crash is due to JNI code we have. • Python - Help with multiprocessing / threading basics.

  I haven't ever used multi-threading, and I decided to learn it today. I was reluctant to ever use it before, but when I tried it out it seemed way to easy, which makes me wary. Is that a reasonable task for Python's multiprocessing? I've read a lot about certain types of tasks not really getting any gain from using threading in Python due to the GIL, but it seems that multiprocessing completely removes that worry, yes? I can imagine a case where 50 users hit the system and it spawns 150 Python interpreters. I can also imagine that wouldn't be good on a production server. How can something like that be avoided? Finally (but most important): How can I return control back to the caller of the new processes? I need to be able to continue with returning an HTTP response and content back to the user and then have the processes continue doing there work after the user of my website is done with the transaction.

• Building a Drupal Newsletter Module for handling Newsletter Articles

  We're building a module for generating HTML for email newsletters. We've looked into using a few other modules (SimpleNews, MailChimp, among others), but due to various requirements, it'll be easier and better for us to build a custom solution. Being a new Drupal developer, I'm a bit worried about handling this in a "non-Drupal" way. That being said, my plan is to setup a vocabulary with Newsletters as a term and the actual Newsletters as sub-terms, like so: Newsletters (term) - Newsletter A (sub-term) - Newsletter B (sub-term) This has the added benefit of being able to organize where articles were published (besides just on the site.) The question, though, is how to handle the different Newsletter issues. I could go another level deeper in the vocabulary, like so: Newsletters (term) - Newsletter A (sub-term) - Issue - 2010-03-01 - Issue - 2010-03-02 - Newsletter B (sub-term) - Issue - 2010-03-01 - Issue - 2010-03-08 But I'm wondering if this is adding a bit too much complexity. Once I have this taxonomy setup, when the user went to add new newsletters it would also create a node (content type: newsletter), and when he/she went to add new issues, it would also create a node (content type: issue.) Those would then be the landing pages for that content. So, the question is is there a better way for handling this structure? Is this a Drupal-like solution?

  I have a div element with fixed height and width and overflow:hidden, and I have a menu that causes this div to scroll to anchors in the text within the div. However, when you click on an item on this menu, it doesn't just scroll the div, it also scrolls the page to the div. How do I prevent this second from happening. That is, I just want the div to scroll without the page itself scrolling. • Salesforce/PHP - outbound messages (SOAP) - memory limit issue

  I'm using Salesforce to send outbound messages (via SOAP) to another server. The server can process about 8 messages at a time, but will not send back the ACK file if the SOAP request contains more than 8 messages. SF can send up to 100 outbound messages in 1 SOAP request and I think this is causing a memory issue with PHP. If I process the outbound messages 1 by 1 they all go through fine, I can even do 8 at a time with no issues. But larger sets are not working. ERROR in SF: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Premature end of file Looking in the HTTP error logs I see that the incoming SOAP message looks to be getting cut of which throws a PHP warning stating: Premature end of data in tag ... PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function getAttribute() on a non-object This leads me to believe that PHP is having a memory issue and can not parse the incoming message due to it's size. I was thinking I could just set: ini_set('memory_limit', '64M'); But would this be the correct approach? Is there a way I could set this to increase with the incoming SOAP request dynamically?   Is it possible to load an external HTML file into a variable and then use this variable to load the SimpleModal dialog?   Trying to hook into the function comment_text() supplied by Wordpress API to wrap the output of every comment into a <div>...</div> container I am running into the following problem: Without my added filter the output of comment_text() looks like this: <p>Hello User!</p> <p>Thank you for your comment.</p> <p>Stefan</p> Thats fine but as I said I would like to have it wrapped into a <div class="comment-text">...</div>.   Hi , I have a perl client which is calling a http restlet service (put method). Some of the parameters in this call contain japanese text. when I printed the contents of these request parameters in the restlet service I found these chars garbled ! This is my PERL client code: my %request_headers = ( 'DocumentName' => $document_name, --> This name is a JAPANESE String 'DocumentDescription' => 'Test Japanese Chars', 'content-length' => 200, 'Content-Type' => 'application/octet-stream; charset=utf-8', 'User-Agent' => "JPCharTester", ); $s-write_request('PUT', '/test-document/TEST/TEST_DOCUMENT' , %request_headers, $content); in this call both the values of $context and $document_name are JAPANESE Strings. But ONLY the document_name is received as garbled in my backend service. • android app working on simulator but not on phone

  i have this app that i developed and it works great on the simulator with no errors what so ever. but the moment i try to run the same on the phone for testing, the app crashes stating filenotfoundexception. it says the file /res/drawable/divider_horizontal.9.png is missing. but actually speaking, i have never referenced that file through my code. i believe its a system/os file that is unavailable. i have a custom list view, i guess its the divider there... could somebody please suggest what is wrong here. i believe this is a similar issue discussed here..but i am unable to make
