  Given a charset string, such as "utf-8", "iso-8859-1", "us-ascii" etc, is there any built-in way to get the appropriate NSStringEncoding in Cocoa? Right now I'm looking at just building a NSDictionary containing a canonicalized version of the name mapped to the NSStringEncoding, then having a lookup mechanism that canonicalizes the input in the same way. But is there really no way to get NSUTF8StringEncoding given the string "UTF-8", etc?

  So the company I'm working for is looking for a means to verify that a given .xls/.xlsx file is valid. Which means checking columns and rows and other data. He's having me evaluate GrapeCity Spread and SpreadsheetGear, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions of external tools to check out. We don't need a means to export .xls files or anything like that, just the ability to import them and verify they are valid based on a set of criteria I create. Thanks.

  I have an Android Activity with a RelativeLayout and I have implemented the following method to prevent the activity from being recreated on change of Orientation: @Override public void onConfigurationChanged(Configuration newConfig) { super.onConfigurationChanged(newConfig); } I am obviously not doing anything in this method, but it worked perfect when using a LinearLayout. Now however, using RelativeLayout, my layout is all messed up when changing to landscape orientation.   I'm having issues with multiple jQuery dialogs. The first one opens fine - is resizable, draggable, etc. However, when I open a second the first becomes unresponsive to dragging/moving/closing, even after the second one is closed. What is the reason for this and how can it be fixed? According to the jQuery documentation this should work fine (since stacking is supported).

  I'm working with the ASP.NET Charting Library and I've got it generating a pie chart but I'm having a problem configuring it to generate the pie chart with semi-transparent slices. If you look at the image here you'll see what I'm talking about. Of the 4 pie charts the top 2 and the bottom left chart have the pie slice transparency I'm talking about. What settings of the chart do I tweak to render the slices with a certain % of transparency? Thanks!

  When I create a form and add a WebBrowser control to it and have it navigate to http://www.adobe.com/flashplatform the flash area says I need Adobe Flash Player installed. This is already installed in IE, but apparently not in the WebBrowser control. Is there are way to have the WebBrowser control run flash without having to manually go to the flash site and install. Flash is already installed the normal IE browser, just not the WebBrowser control in the forms app.

  I'm trying to determine the neighborhood for a location, based on Zillow's freely published Shapefile data. I don't really know anything about the Shapefile format, and am having some trouble finding tutorials online -- but I basically want to take latitude/longitude pairs, and run it against the Shapefile data to determine the corresponding neighborhood(s).
