  • Unable to access certain websites from a computer

    - by matt74tm
One of the desktop computers in my office is unable to access some particular websites. We've tried from Chrome, IE, Firefox, but no luck. eg: http://spsims.wto.org/ -> click on "Regular notifications" On the affected computer, every browser times out after the click. Whereas it should redirect the user to http://spsims.wto.org/web/pages/search/notification/regular/Search.aspx How can I diagnose this further? This is a Windows XP machine.

  • Zune Keyboard Shortcuts

    - by Pulkit Sinha
Does anyone know what keyboard shortcuts work with the latest Zune Desktop software (I believe it is v4.7)? I am particularly interested in something which helps in navigation and search. Also, I've noticed that if I select the leftmost column (Artists/Genres only) and start typing I get a kind of instant search. Does anyone know if - there is a way to invoke this without selecting the first column use it with the album and song view

  • Start menu entries suddenly missing

    - by stefan.at.wpf
I am using Windows 7 x64 SP1 with all updates applied. During the last weeks I observed that some start menu entries / folders suddenly disappeared. Those programs then sometimes can be found using the search function of the start menu, then however they are labeled by the name of their executable (like photoshop instead of Adobe Photoshop). Does anyone know where to start looking for errors? Does the start menu has anything to do with windows search? I doubt it?

  • How to bind up arrow in ~/.inputrc (readline) for vim insert mode?

    - by Pawel Goscicki
When in Readline apps with vim mode enabled in ~/.inputrc (set editing-mode vi) is there a way to bind the up arrow key? To previous history, for example. It seems I have to press ESC key first, only then it works. Here's my attempt at making it work (~/.inputrc): $if mode=vi # INSERT MODE set keymap vi-insert "\e[A": history-search-backward # up-arrow "\e[B": history-search-forward # down-arrow Also note, that when I press Ctrl+v and then <Up>, it prints ^[[A.

  • One google IP address is failing. Is there a way to force a switch to different one?

    - by vaccano
The google ip address 74.125.53.100 is failing. I know no one would believe this so I did an online ping: As this image shows one of the IP addresses for Google is failing. But there are others. If I type them in then I can get to Google just fine. But when I try to search, Google reverts back to the broken IP. Is there any way for me to say "I want to do a search with one of the working IP addresses"?

  • Log all files saved on XP system.

    - by Jason Taylor
I have a user that frequently saves items (or even forgets to save) to places that he forgets. Usually a simple search finds them, but not always. Is there any way to log/track the most recently saved files? It would be great to be the last "saved" files as the recent documents feature is unreliable if he constantly opens documents in his search for the file he just saved. Alternatively, any ideas on how to control this situation?

  • What does ldapsearch response mean?

    - by Martijn Burger
I created a ldap directory with a number of users and groups. When I query this directory from a remote server with: ldapsearch -H ldap://ldap.myserver.net/ -x -vvvvvvv -b dc=myserver,dc=net -D cn=admin,dc=myserver,dc=net -W I get all objects in the directory returned. The result finishes with the following: # search result search: 2 result: 0 Success # numResponses: 85 # numEntries: 84 What do these numbers mean exactly?

  • Maximum number of hard drives in a build-your-own NAS solution [closed]

    - by groovehunter
My IT department has a bunch of older 160/320GB Drives. I'd like to use them in a build-your-own NAS device. What limitations exist in regards to the maximum number of drives that can be connected to typical commodity hardware that might be used in a situation like this? EDIT okay I like to specify my question is what to search for to find a storage controller which can handle many drives. I simply cannot find the right search terms.

  • How to schedule server jobs more intelligently than with cron?

    - by John
I run a job every minute to reindex my site's content. Today, the search engine died, and when I logged in there were hundreds of orphan processes that had been started by cron. Is there another way using some kind of existing software that will let me execute a job every minute, but that won't launch another instance if that job doesn't return (i.e. because the search engine process has failed)?

  • Is there a way of using ctrl-r after typing part of command in bash?

    - by skeept
In bash the ctrl-r command is very useful, I type ctrl-r whatever and it searchs my history for commands containing the word whatever. But if I type whatever and realize that I would like search that word and hit ctrl-r nothing happens. Is there a way hitting a key and having it behaving as if I had typed ctrl-r whatever instead of whatever ctrl-r? I have the following in my .inputrc "\C-p": history-search-backward but this only works if the beginning of the line is the same.

  • Override my ISP's "domain not found" page?

    - by Amanda
If I screw up typing a URL, my ISP shoots me over to their branded search page. So if I type "superuser" in my location bar I end up at http://domainnotfound.optimum.net/cablevassist/dnsassist/main/?domain=superuser I'd like my browser to leave the location the way it was and just say "nothing doing," rather than redirecting me to a search. Can I override that in my own /etc/hosts or at my router?

  • Why does my laptop resume immediately after suspend?

    - by Igor Zinov'yev
I seem to be having some problem with suspend mode. Every time I try to suspend my laptop, it just locks the screen. Or maybe it successfully suspends just to resume only an instant after. What could cause such a behaviour? I'm running 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04 with the 3.2.0-25 kernel on a HP dv5-1178er Pavilion laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo). • [Silverlight, Navigation] Layout of elements added to a tabcontrol on a different navigation page wr

    - by sinni800
Hello, I am developing a Silverlight client using the provided navigation template for an imageboard I developed. I have a "search" tab which lists all searches for tags which were executed. I also have a show post tab which shows (also in tab-form) posts, opened from the search tab. When I open a post from the search page, it instanciates a new control (of type UserControl) and inserts this into the ShowPost page's tabcontrol. When I switch (or get switched) to the Show Post view the layout is all messed up. The UserControl inside the tab does not stretch in the tab. When I switch tabs back and forth this is strangely fixed. The reason seems to be that the user control gets created there but has no layout to "fit to" until said layout is opened, which is too late then. You can see it here: http://aspbooru.tk/Silverlight/UI.aspx Thank you in advance...
