    In Windows 2003 I was able to change the registry key as follows to display the actualy computer name on the desktop using the Computer Desktop Icon. System Key: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}] Change "LocalizedString" value to %COMPUTERNAME% I'm getting access denied messages using regedit for this key and I'm unable to give full rights to this specific key as well as administrator. Does anyone have a better solution for displaying the computer name on the desktop? Thanks.

The most obvious solution is for him to get an unlimited 3G data plan. What is the best way for him to set this up? I am assuming he should get something like Verizon's MiFi 3G access point, but does this have an ethernet jack?

    I'm using a Gigabyte GN-WPKG card on Windows 7 64-bit and was thinking it would be good to turn it into a wireless AP (I have a wired internet connection). Connectify, which would normally be the solution, says it's not compatible. There are instructions for setting up an AP, but they seem to be for 32-bit. I found the equivalent drivers for 7 and they don't seem to do anything. Is there no SoftAP for Vista and later on a Gigabyte card?

    Hi, we are going to migrate from CVS to SVN using subversion 1.6. But also we have another SVN-Server using subversion 1.2 (no chance to update). So we plan to use the newer TortoiseSVN 1.6.x Is it possible to use two different servers while using only the new TortoiseSVN? Another solution may be using an old TortoiseSVN compiled against subversion 1.2. Is this possible? What about using two TortoiseSVN (1.2.x and 1.6.x)?

    I accidentally make Pidgin the default app for Yahoo Messenger URI scheme (ymsgr://) in Google Chrome. Now, whenever I click on a Yahoo Messenger URI scheme, instead of appearing a popup chat box, nothing happens. How can I change the default app to associate with this URI scheme back to Yahoo Messenger? I found a similar problem here. But I am using Windows 7, not Ubuntu, so the solution cannot be applied in my situation.

Whenever I open a folder having images, image thumbnails appear for an instant and they are replaced by standard file icon. Argh... Points to note: Setting "Always show icon, never thumbnail" is unchecked Running Windows Aero theme (with transparency support) Have 4GB of RAM on my machine so memory is not a problem Please can you suggest a solution?

I need to share a portable hard drive (USB/Firewire) between Mac OSX, Linux and Windows XP systems where the files being shared are sometimes 4GB. Is there a file system that is available out of the box on all these operating systems that support this and allows read/write access? Alternately I could accept a solution that lets Opera accept other form fields with the Wand. I need to limit it so that any outgoing http requests it makes (ie through wget) only go through eth0 and all other traffic goes through eth1. I dare say the solution might have something to do with iptables but I've no experience with it so would appreciate all help.

    I have a site with some URLs that look like this: /prefix/ID, where /prefix is static and ID is unique. Using Nginx as a reverse proxy, I'd like to cache these pages at the /ID portion only, omitting the prefix. Can I configure Nginx so that a request for the original URL is cached at the shortened URL?   • Office 2010 beta affects trial instalation

    I've found that after expiration of Office 2010 beta when I want to install trial, installation always ends up with an error 25400, even if everything is uninstalled. I've read that it's because Office refuses to install a trial after using a key that expires (like beta one). If so, is there a solution to reset that? I really need that trial. Please note that I don't want do anything illegal - I just want to use my obtained trial after betatesting Office 2010 before.

    In the Event Viewer: Source: Application Error Category: 100 Event ID: 1000 Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.4480, fault address 0x000000000000dd50. This error is happening on my background-app server (not web server). It's happening every 3-5 minutes. What's the problem in laymen's terms?     Does anyone know of a way to fix the Apache memory leak in relation to Subversion Server? We have a windows server 2003 machine running Apache to host Subversion. From day one, we have had memory leak issues and have not found a solution yet. All we do is monitor our server when when the memory use reaches near the max it can handle we have to restart Apache.

The problem is I don't like default shortcuts for switching keyboard input languages: [CTRL]+[SHIFT] and [ALT]+[SHIFT]. And I'd really like to change the shortcut to the one I'm using in Linux [SHIFT]+[SHIFT]. I've googled for a while, played with registry but have not found any solution. So, can I assign custom ([SHIFT]+[SHIFT]) shortcut for switching keyboard input languages? Thanks in advance, Andriy
