• 503 (Server Unavailable) WebException when loading local XHTML file

  Hello! So I'm currently working on an ePub reader application, and I've been reading through a bunch of regular XML files just fine with System.Xml and XmlDocument: XmlDocument xmldoc = new XmlDocument(); xmldoc.Load(Path.Combine(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(), "META-INF/container.xml")); XmlNodeList xnl = xmldoc.GetElementsByTagName("rootfile"); However, now I'm trying to open the XHTML files that contain the actual book text, and they're XHTML files. Now I don't really know the difference between the two, but I'm getting the following error with this code (in the same document, using the same XmlDocument and XmlNodeList variable) xmldoc.Load(Path.Combine(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(), "OEBPS/part1.xhtml")); "WebException was unhandled: The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable" It's a local document, so I'm not understanding why it's giving this error? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :) I've got the full source code here if it helps: http://drop.io/epubtest (I know the ePubConstructor.ParseDocument() method is horribly messy, I'm just trying to get it working at the moment before I split it into classes)

• 500 error for long url iis7

  I was getting 404 errors for some long URLs on a website I'm developing. After a bit of digging I discovered that this occurs when the length of certain aspects of the URL exceed configurable limits in IIS7. In this case the maxQueryString attribute of the requestLimits property needed to be increased in the web.config <system.webServer> <security> <requestFiltering> <requestLimits maxQueryString="4096" maxAllowedContentLength="4096" maxUrl="8192" > </requestLimits> </requestFiltering> </security> This fixed the problem instantly on my development server but on the remote server I now get: 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. And that's all the information it gives me.

  Hi, I'm very new to Git and I've been following this online tutorial for converting my existing SVN repository to a Git repository and am stuck at the final hurdle. http://www.jonmaddox.com/2008/03/05/cleanly-migrate-your-subversion-repository-to-a-git-repository/ On the last step of the tutorial it says to do this: git clone my_blog_tmp my_blog However, when I do, I get the following error: fatal: 'my_blog_tmp' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Some points: 1) I'm entering the above command from within the "my_blog_tmp" directory 2) I've tried entering "git init" to make sure Git is initialised inside the "my_blog_tmp" folder but no joy. • Integration of Photoshop and MySQL

  I’m working to integrate Photoshop (CS4, local) with MySQL (Linux, remote), such that: a) image file information, data and meta data can be exported from PS into MySQL where same can be manipulated both manually and calculated, and then b) the MySQL fields can be referenced in Photoshop scripting for further automated image file manipulation, and c) the MySQL fields can be referenced for other purposes such as dynamic propagation of files and associated file data to a website, for example. I’ve spent many hours running searches for these concepts on StackOverflow, Google, and Adobe Support. I’m coming up empty, which leads me to believe that it’s not natively possible, and that I’ll need some middle language like PHP. Does anyone know if it’s possible for Photoshop and MySQL to bi-directionally share data? If so, how? If that’s not possible, what solution(s) might you recommend, in terms of specific tools/technologies that I can research further. Thank you.

• Graceful handling of server timeout in BlazeDS

  I have a flex client that makes service calls to a tomcat server running BlazeDS. I would like to gracefully handle server session timeouts in this environment. I do have security constraints on the service, so the client authenticates against a remote object by initializing a ChannelSet based on the destination, and then logging in using that ChannelSet. After the user is authenticated, if they go get a (long) cup of coffee, their session will inevitably time out. I would like the client to detect the timeout, and return the user back to the login page, with the appropriate informational messages. But I am having difficulty finding the best way to detect this timeout from the client. Is it possible, or must I have the server throw an error when the timeout occurs? Thanks!

No such app as fierce-fog-63 fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly It's weird that I am getting this now, I have pushed the app to heroku many times without issue. the especially weird thing is, fierce-fog-63 is an old app that I made a deleted a long time ago. Why is it now that heroku is trying to push to this app that doesn't exist anymore, especially when I have created a new one. Any suggestions?

• Mirror a git repository by pulling?

  I am wondering if there is an easy way, ie like a simple cron job, to regularly pull from a remote git repository to a local read only mirror for backup purposes? Ideally it would pull all branches and tags, but the master/trunk/head would be sufficient. I just need a way to make sure that if the master git server dies, we have a backup location that we could manually fail over to. (I have been googling and reading documentation for help on how to do this for quite some time now and the furthest I have gotten is a bash script that does pull's on a regular interval.)

• Creating database desktop application with data manipulation in Netbeans using Java Persistence

  It's my first time to use Persistence in developing a Java program because I usually connect via JDBC. I read that for large amounts of data, it is best to use persistence. I tried playing with the CRUD example of Netbeans. It's not very helpful thought because it only connects to the DB and allows addition and deletion of records. I need something that will allow me to manipulate the data like if the value from column C1 of table T1 is such, it will retrieve data from table t2. In short, I need to apply conditions before knowing what to retrieve exactly. The example in CRUD example already has a specific table to retrieve and only acts like a database manager. How is it possible to retrieve a specific item first then from this, will determine the next steps to be done. I'm also using embedded JavaDB/Derby as my database (also my first time to use because I usually use remote mysql)

• jQuery UI autocomplete examples

  I'm hoping someone can help with this, I'm having a real difficult time getting jQueryUI's autocomplete to work with ajax in a asp.net app (not MVC). I can get it to make the ajax call but I'm not doing something right handling the response. Just for starters I'm trying to have autocomplete make an ajax call to 'GetSuggestions.aspx' which will return a hard coded string. I have it where it will make the call to GetSuggestions.aspx but I can't get it to return anything to the page. (My next step would be to have 'GetSuggestions.asxp' return a list of name/value pairs but I'll tackle that next). I'm using the example from here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#remote with the exception of using 'source: "GetSuggestions.aspx" (instead of "search.php")

• WCF Project vs. A folder in the existing website project?

  What way makes the most sense? I have a ASP.NET app... and maybe a Silverlight app in the future.. I want both to talk to web services.. At first, I like have the WCF project be by it self for the seperation.. But then I thought.. What is the point since I can just as easily have a 'WEBSERVICES' folder that contains all the .svc files and code in the EXISTING website project. ... Atleast that way.. deploying to a remote host will be a little easier since everything is in one project.. any other considerations ?

• Estimate serialization size of objects?

  In my thesis, I woud like to enhance messaging in a cluster. It's important to log runtime information about how big a message is (should I prefer processing local or remote). I could just find frameoworks about estimating the object memory size based on java instrumentation. I've tested classmexer, which didn't come close to the serialization size and sourceforge SizeOf. In a small testcase, SizeOf was around 10% wrong and 10x faster than serialization. (Still transient breaks the estimation completely and since e.g. ArrayList is transient but is serialized as an Array, it's not easy to patch SizeOf. But I could live with that) On the other hand, 10x faster with 10% error doesn't seem very good. Any ideas how I could do better?

• Multiple complete HTTP requests stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state

  I have a Java and Tomcat-based server application which initiates many outbound HTTP requests to other web sites. We use Jakarta's HTTP Core/Client libraries, very latest versions. The server locks up at some point since all its worker threads are stuck trying to close completed HTTP connections. Using 'lsof' reveals a bunch of sockets stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state. This doesn't happen for all, or even most connections. In fact, I saw it before and resolved it by making sure to set the Connection: Close response header. So that makes me think it may be bad behavior of remote servers. It may have come up again since I moved the app to a totally new service provider -- different OS, network situation. But, I am still at a loss as to what I could do, if anything, to work around this. Some poking around on the internet didn't turn up anything I'm not already doing. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has seen and solved this?

• Packet Crafting on a Mac

  I think (based on searching the forums), that NetCat is the best option, but wanted to hear if others are preferable. Anyone have good success with a packet-crafting tool (specifically on Mac)? I've tried HPing, but had some issues. I'm looking into NetCat ('nc' on mac) now, but it's not working as I had thought. Basically, I captured some packets that a remote control sends over a wifi network to turn lights on and off (using X10 controllers), and am looking for a way to replay them by crafting a TCP packet from the command line. I used Wireshark to sniff the traffic, so I know the package is: DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10" I'm trying: echo 'DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10"' nc 192.168.2.196 6003 but there's no response from the receiving system. • No network packets sent immediately after quick physical disconnect and reconnect.

  I am using Boost's ASIO libraries to establish a UDP connection to a remote server. To make sure the connection is active, every second a keep-alive message is sent to the server. I have noticed that if I unplug the network cable and reinsert it quickly, the first 2 or 3 keep-alive messages after the reinsert are never sent. I tested this by running wire-shark on the server. I have seen it take up to 5 seconds before the client starts sending out network traffic again. The client is running under Linux (2.6.2), if that helps.

• How to call an ASP.NET WebMethod using PowerShell?

  It seems like ASP.NET WebMethods are not "web servicey" enough to work with New-WebServiceProxy. Or maybe it is, and I haven't figured out how to initialize it? • my android app runs fine in the emulator, but when i publish it it's wrong

  i have an app that has a few checkboxes in the settings and then compiles a remote sql based on the checkboxes selected. i ran it in the emulator and it's fine. but then i exported it and published it as an app, and the same checked boxes aren't being passed correctly. i wonder if it's a caching issue or something. tried deleting the apks a few times and republish but to no avail. i "fake-edited" the source java and then export again, still no difference. i'm kind of new to eclipse but is there a force build option? i only see build-automatically option under project but not sure how i can make sure that the apk exported is the same as run in the emulator edit the emulator is version 1.5, and my phone is nexus one running 2.1- not sure if that makes a difference thanks

• Keeping WPF grids from getting out of parent bounds

  In my UI, I have a big grid with two columns and one row. in the right column, I have a grid with three rows where in the top row I have a user control, and in the two bottom rows I have two Expander objects, each containing an ItemsControl with a list that gets populated in runtime. Sometimes, that list gets really long and "spills" from the screen towards the bottom. What I want to do is to allow the user to see both expanders, be able to expand or collapse them while keeping them both in sight. I tried wrapping them in WrapPanels or StackPanel but to no avail. • send form data as web service in symfony

  I am making a restrictive portal to a WiFi network using symfony, and I want to send a form as web service to other sites that want to use this portal. How should I solve this? I realize I could go the SOAP/WSDL route, but since symfony is already RESTful, it seems to me I could go the RESTful route with considerably less pain and loss of performance. Right now, I have a working form, but I've only made a casual attempt to bring the form to a remote site by using cURL. The form does not work remotely since the routing is not set up correctly (I think). Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

  Hi All, I am trying to do a sample project on the Apple the push notification. I created an AppID, done some terminal commands, and finally got a Provisional Certificate for do the same. I got the certificate installed on my device and SDK. Till now every thing goes fine. But when i try to run the app on the device.... it doesnt.   Here is my use case I have a search model with two actions search_set and search_show. 1 - A user loads the home page which contains a search_form, rendered via a partial (search_form). 2 - User does a search, and the request goes to search_set, the search is saved and a redirect happens to search_show page which again renders the search_form with the saved search preferences. This search form is different than the one if step1, because it's a remote form being submitted to the same action (search set) 3 - Now the user does another search, and the search form is submitted via ajax to the search_set action. The search is saved and executed and now I need to present the result via rjs templates (corresponding to search_show). I am told that if the request is xhr then I can't redirect to the search_show action? Is that right? If yes, how do I handle this? Here is my controller class http://pastie.org/993460 Thanks

• SQL Server (2005) Linked Server Issue

  I have SQL Server 2005 with several linked server defined. One of them is a connection to an Oracle server and another one is an ODBC bridge to another server on a remote machine (ODBC server). Recently I tried to use the linked server to Oracle to update data with two large size tables by using several joints. The update query took too long time and finally there was exception thrown: Update O set value = l.value FROM OracleServer..schema.largesizeTable O Join localLargeSizeTable l on .... The problem is that after the exception, I realized that another linked server to ODBC was not working any more. I had to restart SQL server to get the ODBC linked server back. It looks that the linked server pool could be crashed if any of them failed(not like sandbox in Chrome for each tab and no impact on other tabs or Chrome application at all). I am not sure if my assumption is correct or not. Is this a known issue of SQL server 2005?
