Car si la boutique en ligne de la firme à la Pomme domine toujours en volume de contenus (350.000 applications contre 250.000 pour son concurrent), celle de Google se développe beaucoup plus vite. While I try to understand as much as possible by myself sometimes I do not get why things work in a certain way, and if after sufficient amount of time the problem stays unsolved I send an email describing what the issue is to a team-mate who works on the project for a long time. But often the email is just ignored or answered with one-two short sentences which do not explain a lot. What is the best way to deal with this situation?

  My customer, a translations business owner, just told me that he has been reading about Ruby on Rails and told me that "there are more PHP guys around there" and "it seems the community prefers it". What would you, as software engineer and freelancer, say to the customer to achieve these goals: Sell Make him see that the technology is my expert decision and Rails is as good or better than PHP (+ whatever framework) for this particular project. I had the following questions. 1) What industries most widely use search engine optimization services? 2) Is it small business or big firms that use SEO services typically? 3) What is SEO pricing typically dependent upon and how much is it on average? 4) Do SEO services really increase traffic? Is there a dataset I can get a hold of for this sort of thing? I am not looking for answers to the questions necessarily.   A friend of mine asked me for a easy website for him. As it was just 3 subpages, no database need or anything, I've done it quite fast with plain PHP, HTML, JS and CSS. But then another and another friend showed up. They only wanted arrange differently they navigation, some different picutures etc. So I though, is there any kind of CMS, that allows build small business website (barbershop, local groceries shop), with small list of subpages, yet allowing us to arrange look'n'feel. There's no need for the databas as content won't change, or can be stored in simple textfiles for example. Things like WordPress might be simple overkill Does anyone know such cms?

  I'm thinking of developing software for Ubuntu and other related Linux-based distros (like Linux Mint). But currently am at a loss for where to start. Would learning Python be enough/good? And what are the other things I should know about before starting this kind of developing? And will I be able to publish my apps to a software store like Ubuntu store even if I am from outside USA/UK? If not, what are the options I have to make my apps reach the audience? As a lot of users had asked, I intend to build applications only for Linux (I'm thinking of Gnome) that will be a bit business and enterprise oriented. Currently I am an Oracle certified Java developer in J2SE and J2ME. And I know Python a bit.

• Request Entity Too Large error while uploading files of more than 128KB over SSL

  We have a web portal setup on Java spring framework. It running on tomcat app server. Portal is served through apache web server connected to tomcat through JK connector. Entire portal is HTTPS enabled using 443 port of apache. Apache version is : Apache/2.4.2 (Unix). it is the latest stable version of apache web server. Whenever we try to upload files more than 128 KB into the portal, We are facing 413 error: Request Entity Too Large The requested resource /teamleadchoachingtracking/doFileUpload does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. In the apache error log we get the following errors: AH02018: request body exceeds maximum size (131072) for SSL buffer AH02257: could not buffer message body to allow SSL renegotiation to proceed We did search over google and there were suggestions to put SSLRenegBufferSize as some high value like 10MB. Based on these suggestions, we had put the following entry in virtualhost section of httpd config file: SSLRenegBufferSize 10486000 But still the error persists. Also we have specified SSLVerifyClient none, but still renegotiation is happening. This is a very inconsistent and frustrating error. Any help will be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

• How to make my SanDisk Cruzer Blade 4GB disk back to normal?

  Currently, my SanDisk Cruzer Blade 4GB have become a 64MB Firebird RAW flash drive (thumb drive). I don't know why it become like this but when I plug it into a PC, it suddenly transform itself to become a 64MB flash drive. (From 4 GB to 64 MB, that is a huge change!) Some of their solution is as follows: Using the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=1970), which did not work for me as it could not format. Using the h2testw to see if it is genuine, which did not work for me because it is a RAW partition. Return to the vendor, which I doubt since the product only have 1 year warranty and it has expired. I also notice that the flash drive is very fragile as after a few use, the flash drive have become something like the following: (The upper cover of the USB connector was broken or torn) So, wondering if someone have any good solution to fix it back so that at least I can retrieve my data on the fragile thumb drive.

  I have been trying to figure out how to highlight the selected row in a table. In my jsp I have jsp scriplet that can get access to the id of the row the displaytag library is creating. I want to compare it to the the id of the current row selected by the user ${currentNoteId}. Right now if the row id = 849 (hardcoded) the class "currentClass" is added to just that row of the table. I need to change the 849 for the {$currentNoteId} and I don't know how to do it. I am using java, Spring MVC. • SBS 2008 BPA Warnings After Migration From SBS 2003

  We just finished a we-know-just-enough-to-be-dangerous migration from SBS 2003 to SBS 2008, and things seem to have gone relatively smoothly. After running the SBS 2008 Best Practices Analyzer on the destination server, we've got three warning messages, and I can't tell if they're important or not. First, the easy one: SMTP Port (TCP 25 Status): The Edgetransport.exe process should listen on SMTP port 25, but that port is owned by the process. I don't think that this one is a big deal--e-mail is flowing through the SMTP connector. Since there are two spaces between "the" and "process," I'm assuming that for some reason BPA just couldn't figure out the owning process name and this is just some sloppy programming when displaying the message. (Indeed, on subsequent runs of the BPA this message goes away, and other times it comes back.) Now, two more scary sounding ones: No DNS name server records: There are no DNS name server (NS) resource records in the _msdcs sub-domain in the forward lookup zone for Windows SBS 2008. and, similarly, No DNS name server records: There are no DNS name server (NS) resource records in the _msdcs zone for Windows SBS 2008. Now for these two, everything appears to be functioning correctly--but I'm assuming this is a weird state as a result of the SBS 2003 to 2008 migration. Can anyone provide any pointers on how to fix it, or whether or not it can be safely ignored? Thanks!

• Windows Server 2008 / SQL 2008 Licensing for Authenticated Web Application

  Hello, I'm trying to crunch some numbers to see what the software costs involved are for hosting an application we are developing. Users will not be anonymous - they will need to log in. SQL Server 2008: SQL Server licensing is easy - it will be licensed per-processor. No real fuss there. The cost of CALs would be much higher for the number of users as compared to the processor licenses. Windows Server 2008: This is where it gets trickier. We need to license the OS for both the web servers (there will be a couple) plus the database servers (also a couple). The Web Servers could run on the Web Edition without a need for CALs, but if you continue reading, you will see that may not matter much because I will likely have user CALs for each user anyway. We can't use the "External Connector" for any of the Windows licenses, because that doesn't cover customers who are paying to access a hosted application. We can't use the Web Edition for the SQL Servers because that license only allows database running on Web Edition to host data for the local web application (i.e. other web servers can't connect to it). So that leaves us with the "full" editions of Windows Server for the database server OS. I find this a little rediculous, and I feel as though I must be missing something, but it looks to me like I will actually need to buy a CAL for every user who signs up to use our service. I feel like I'm missing something because that means that for every user, I have to shell out $40 for a CAL. That could be one or two years' worth of revenue from each user for an inexpensive service! Is there any way to serve a web application to authenticated users without paying for individual Windows Server CALs, if the web servers and SQL servers are seperate boxes?

• How to use HttpContext.Current on asynchronous threads?

  I've a schedule tasks mechanism (very similar to DotNetNuke's) in my business logic library (a DLL that is used by ASP.Net website). When I use HttpContext.Current inside on of these tasks, it returns with a null value, because the current async thread (or task) was not initiated from a user's request. How can I use HttpContext.Current in these asynchronous threads? P.S - I think my question is more best-practices related than technical.
