    Ok, so I have a table Table: Id Value If I query my table and group my result by "Value" how can I make it so each of the groups are alphabetized (a group grouped by a "Value"="a" will come before a group grouped by a "Value" = "z").     Hello everybody, i am developing a GPS application in which i needs to track the speed of the device/iphone ,i am using the CLCorelocation API's Locate me referral code provided by Apple my problem is that the LocationManager does not updates the current latitude and longitudes thus i am unable to calculate the distance as well as the speed of the device/iphone.   • What's the best Scala build system?

    I've seen questions about IDE's here -- Which is the best IDE for Scala development? and What is the current state of tooling for Scala?, but I've had mixed experiences with IDEs. Right now, I'm using the Eclipse IDE with the automatic workspace refresh option, and KDE 4's Kate as my text editor. Here are some of the problems I'd like to solve: use my own editor IDEs are really geared at everyone using their components. I like Kate better, but the refresh system is very annoying (it doesn't use inotify, rather, maybe a 10s polling interval). The reason I don't use the built-in text editor is because broken auto-complete functionalities cause the IDE to hang for maybe 10s. rebuild only modified files The Eclipse build system is broken. It doesn't know when to rebuild classes. I find myself almost half of the time going to project-clean. Worse, it seems even after it has finished building my project, a few minutes later it will pop up with some bizarre error (edit - these errors appear to be things that were previously solved with a project clean, but then come back up...). Finally, setting "Preferences / Continue launch if project contains errors" to "prompt" seems to have no effect for Scala projects (i.e. it always launches even if there are errors). build customization I can use the "nightly" release, but I'll want to modify and use my own Scala builds, not the compiler that's built into the IDE's plugin. It would also be nice to pass [e.g.] -Xprint:jvm to the compiler (to print out lowered code). fast compiling Though Eclipse doesn't always build right, it does seem snappy -- even more so than fsc. I looked at Ant and Maven, though haven't employed either yet (I'll also need to spend time solving #3 and #4). I wanted to see if anyone has other suggestions before I spend time getting a suboptimal build system working. Thanks in advance! UPDATE - I'm now using Maven, passing a project as a compiler plugin to it. It seems fast enough; I'm not sure what kind of jar caching Maven does. A current repository for Scala 2.8.0 is available [link]. The archetypes are very cool, and cross-platform support seems very good. However, about compile issues, I'm not sure if fsc is actually fixed, or my project is stable enough (e.g. class names aren't changing) -- running it manually doesn't bother me as much. If you'd like to see an example, feel free to browse the pom.xml files I'm using [github]. UPDATE 2 - from benchmarks I've seen, Daniel Spiewak is right that buildr's faster than Maven (and, if one is doing incremental changes, Maven's 10 second latency gets annoying), so if one can craft a compatible build file, then it's probably worth it...

    Hi I am having a problem debugging an issue on a website. Everything works locally, the local and server databases are the same The strange thing about the error is that it points to my local dev machine in the error stack.   • Good object/DB set-up for CMS-esque app for managing content and user permissions?

    Hi all, so I am writing a big CMS-esque app to allow users to manage web content through web applications, I've got a pretty good db-driven user permission system going, but am having trouble coming up with a good way to handle content groups and pages, I've got a couple options and not sure which one to take. Furthermore, I am not sure how to handle static page updates that have no 'widgets' in them. My current set-up for permissions is this: Objects: User, UserGroup, UserUserGroup, UserGroupType Standard many to many relationship User -> UserUserGroup <- UserGroup each Usergroup has a UserGroupType, which could be anything from Title, Department, to PermissionGroup. PermissionGroup manages the permissions. Right now on a per page basis I check permissions based on their PermissionsGroups. So for a page which has CMS features for a news widget, I check for permission groups of "Site Admin" and "News Admin". Now the issue I am coming to is, the site has many different departments involved. No problem I think, I can just have a EntityContentGroup so any widget app can be used for any departments. So my HR department, each of their news items would be in the EntityContentGroup with the news item ID, and content group of "HR" or "HR News". But maybe this isn't the most efficient way to go about it? I don't want to put the content group simply as a NewsItemType because some news items could apply to multiple areas, so I want to be able to assign them to as many areas as I want. Likewise, all of my widget apps have this, so that's why I decided to choose EntityContentGroup and not just NewsItemContentGroup. I was also thinking well instead of doing a contentGroup do a Page object that says which page some entity should be on. It seems almost like the same thing, but would I want to use Page for something else? I was thinking Page would be used for static pages with no widgets, a simple Rich Text Editor can edit the content of that page and I save that item to a page?? And then instead of doing a page level check for UserGroup permissions, would it be better to associate a usergroup to a contentgroup, and then just depending on what contentGroup content on the page is displayed, determine the permissions through that relationship? Is that better? I am not sure at this point. I guess I am just getting a tad overwhelmed at this is the largest app in scope and size that I have ever written. What is the best approach for this based on my current user permission set-up?

I've experienced outofmemory from my application : Current setting is : -Xmx900m Computer, Windows 2003 Server 32bit, RAM 4GB. Also is changing boot.ini to /3GB on windows, will make any difference? If is set Xmx900m, how much max native memory can be allocated for this process ? is it 1100m ?

  • Why is TransactionScope using a distributed transaction when I am only using LinqToSql and Ado.Net

    We are having problems on one machine, with the error message: "MSDTC on server XXX is unavailable." The code is using a TransactionScope to wrap some LingToSql database code; there is also some raw Ado.net inside of the transaction. As only a single sql database (2005) is being accessed, why is a distributed transaction being used at all? (I don’t wish to know how to enable MSDTC, as the code needs to work on the server with their current setup)

  • Why do calls to waveOutGetPosition hang?

    I'm using the winmm.dll API method waveOutGetPosition to get the current position of the playback of a WAV file. Sometimes this works as expected for me, but eventually one of the calls never returns and my application locks up.     I have a custom attribute PackerAttrib which takes no data, simply marking a field or property, which will be used to mark a property or field of a class inherited from Panel in order to serialize it later on. How would I take an instance of any object derived from Panel and get a Directory<string s, object o> where s is the name of the field or property and o is the current value of said field or property from the instance.     I have a Ruby on Rails app running on 12001. I am currently redirecting a subdomain to 127.0.0.1:12001 using some ReWriteCond detection. Now I want to redirect my subdirectory to that rails app. http[s]://domain.com/redmine to 127.0.0.1:12001 The current rules apply REQUEST_URI to the above rails path, but I need to strip "/redmine" from the front of REQUEST_URI... Any ideas?

    Hi Fiburt, Today I meet a similar problem and it reminds me about this thread. In Visual Studio, if we open the .csproj file, we see that they tell us to uncomment the two targets AfterBuild and BeforeBuild so as to execute them after and before the build of the current project accordingly. My questions are: Where are these two targets called in Visual Studio? And how is it handled if the targets are not defined (be commented out) ?
