  • Project hosting on Google Code. Files are cahced?

    I do not really understand how Google Code handles file versioning. I am building a jQuery plugin that anyone can access. Like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jquery-old-browser-warning.googlecode.com/files/jquery.browser-warning.js"></script> This script accesses other files on the same project (via ajax). The problem is, that when I upload a new file, it just seems like there aren't any changed to it. Google recommends that new files should have new names. But then I would have to change the filenames that the script loads. But then I would have to change the script file as well, and that would break everybodys implementation (with the script-tag above) Is there a way to force a file to change when uploading with the same filename? PS: If I go directly to the project page's file list. Then I do get the file with the updated content. But as I said, not when getting it through ajax.

  • How do I reload a Roo project without clearing the database?

    I've been learning how to build projects using Roo and am making good progress. I have the nucleus of a project which correctly displays my defined entities and allows me to create, edit, and delete the representative objects. I am using mysql at the database and I see that objects entered using the UI correctly appear in the mysql database. Per the Roo instructions, I am starting the webapp using "mvn tomcat:run". Unfortunately, I've discovered that whenever I restart Tomcat using Maven, it clears all of the existing objects out of the database. I'm left with empty tables. It seems to do this as the final step just prior to Tomcat stating that the server has started. I know this is just me being a n00b, but searches haven't been very helpful, none of the project's XML files seem relevant,

    I want to apply NTFS-Search to our project. Our project have to find the files which we specified.(fast and exactly!) But I'm not sure the program(NTFS-Search) works well. What if the file specified is system file? What if the file is being opened by a process with NO_READ_SHARE_MODE? Do you think NTFS-Search can find any files? I don't know about NTFS filesystem well.     I'm working on a php project.. And I started building the admin login system and have already finished it and it works properly on my machine (local server) where I'm developing the project.. But when I moved it to a (web server) it didn't work properly as it was working on (local server). the problem that showed up is that when the admin get authentication to log in to the admin area, once he clicks any link in the page or even he reloads the page that page disappear and the login page appear again which mean the admin forced to log out even he didn't.

I see how to add a target, but I'm not sure how to set it up to run like the "Command Line Tool" project template does. I tried adding a new "Shell Tool" target, but I don't know how to make it run like one. What build settings do I have to add to that target? What files (main.m?) do I need to start it up?

  • Is it possible to exclude folders from a web application project in vs 2010?

    I had previously asked this question. At the time I was working with VS 2008. To restate the question. I have a web application that generates 1000's of small xml files in a certain directory. I would like to exclude this directory from the web application project in visual studio 2010. With vs 2008 it was not possible. Has anything changed? Besides the general wait for VS to iterate through this directory and add an item in the solution explorer for each file, it also strains my system resources, so I would like to exclude it from the project, but the dir and files need to physically exist on disk, because they are part of the application.     The project is hosted on a tfs server and I need to access the build number which I assume is automatically generated when ever you build a project. I need to retrieve that build number and display it on the web pages so that QAs and testing people know exactly which build they are working on. I found how to create customize build numbers in the following link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa395241(v=vs.100).aspx but it dose not solve my problem as I do not have access to the build definition file. I am looking for some kind of post deployment task which can access the build number or may be generate one and probably write it down to a file, from where I can read it.     Hi I have 3 project files(webui,framework that contains service layers and repos and unit tests). Most of my unit testing will be done in the service layer as this will contain all the business logic. So I will be mocking out the repo. In some cases I will query my a repo from my controller(say I just need all users in the database and I am not doing any business logic for it). So I am thinking that I need to have ninject used in my framework project. Where is the best place to put it so I can use them against my repos in my service layers?

    Hi, I'm having problem with MS Chart chart type column. If there are only 9 bar in the chart like the following picture, then the axis-x label show up properly. However, there are more than 9 bars bar the chart, the axis-x label wont show up properly, some of them just dissappear.   • What MS technology to use for HTTP service returning XML?

    I need to create a service that: accepts HTTP requests (with query string or HTTP POST parameters) does some processing on the requests (checking if the request is valid, authentication etc.) reads data from a custom store (another HTTP call in our case) returns the result as custom XML (defined with XSD) I'm trying to think of various MS technologies that could help me and how good they would be for this scenario (pretty standard one I guess). The tasks above are relatively separate, this is what comes to mind: HTTP front-end: ASP.NET Web Forms ASP.NET MVC (seems more appropriate here as I won't need server controls, view state etc.) WCF? Don't know much about it or how well it would suit my task. Custom logic on the server: this will probably be a generic C# code in all cases (sometimes "plugged into" or called from MVC controllers or some equivalent place in other technologies) Reading data from internal data stores: As said, this is another HTTP server in our case. Options that come to mind: Just read the data using something like WebClient (Just theoretically) implement a LINQ provider (Just even more theoretically) implement an EF provider Output the data as custom XML: Linq2XML Serialization? Is it flexible enough? Does WCF provide some tools for this? Some "OXM" - Object/XML mapper if there is something like that for .NET I may be wrong in many of my assumptions, this is just a quick list that comes to mind after a quick research. Some general notes / questions: Testing is important Solution with a clear domain model would be much preferred over the one without Can Entity Framework actually help somewhere in my scenario? If so, where and how? Would WCF be an appropriate technology for this? I don't know much about it.

  • How to upload files and store them in a server local path when MS SQL SERVER allows remote connectio

    I am developing a win32 windows application with Delphi and MS SQL Server. it works fine in LAN but I am trying to add the support for SQL Server remote connections (= working with a DB that can be accessed with an external IP, as described in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;914277). Basically I have a Table in DB where I keep the DocumentID, the document description and the Document path (like \FILESERVER\MyApplicationDocuments\45.zip). Of course \FILESERVER is a local (LAN) path for the server but not for the client (as I am now trying to add the support for remote connections). So I need a way to access \FILESERVER even if of course I cannot see it in LAN. I found the following T-SQL code snippet that is perfect for the "download trick": SELECT BulkColumn as MyFile FROM OPENROWSET(BULK '\FILESERVER\MyApplicationDocuments\45.zip' , SINGLE_BLOB) AS X With the code above I can download a file on the client. But how to upload it? I need an "Uppload trick" to be able to insert new files, but also to delete or replace existing files. Can anyone suggest? If a trick is not available could you suggest an alternative? Like an extended stored procedure or calling some .net assembly from the server.

  • What problem did MS solve by creating PowerShell? [closed]

    I'm asking because PowerShell confuses me. I've been trying to write some deployment scripts using PowerShell and I've been less than enthused by the result. I have a co-worker who loves PowerShell and defends it at every turn. Said co-worker claims PowerShell was never written to be a strong shell, but instead was written to: a) Allow you to peek and poke at .NET assemblies on the command-line (why is this a reason for PowerShell to exist?) b) To be hosted in .NET applications for automation, similar to DCOP in KDE and how Gnome is using CORBA. c) to be treated as ".NET script" rather than as an actual shell (related to b). I've always felt like Windows was missing a decent way to bang out automation scripts. cmd is too simplistic in many cases, and WSH is too obtuse (although the combination can be used successfully, I'm not a fan). When I first heard about PowerShell I felt like Windows was finally getting a decent shell that would be able to help with automation of many tasks, but recent experiences, and my co-worker, tell me otherwise. To be clear, I don't take issue with the fact that it's built on .NET, or that it passes objects around rather than text (despite my Unix background :]), and I'm not arguing that PowerShell is useless, but from what I can see, it doesn't solve the problem I was hoping it would solve very well. As soon as you step outside of the .NET/Powershell world, things quit being nice and cozy for you. So with all that out of the way, what problem did MS solve by creating PowerShell, or is it some political bastard child as I suspect? I've googled and haven't hit upon anything that sufficiently answered that for me, but the more citations the better.
