  • Why does Visual Studio 2008 try to open a project from the wrong folder?

    I'm having a bizarre problem with Visual Studio 2008. I wanted to debug one of the libraries that my web application references. Therefore, I decide to add the project containing the library to my solution so that I can debug them together. The project containing my library sits at c:\webLibs\myproj.vbproj. However, when I try to add the project to my solution, Visual Studio throws the following error: "The project file 'c:\someOtherFolder\myproj.vbproj'. has been moved, renamed, or is not on your computer." As you can see, VS appears to be trying to open a different file than the one I clicked on. I used to have the file in that other location, but not anymore. I've tried restarting VS several times. What could cause this bizarre behavior? Why would Visual Studio try to open my project from the wrong folder?

  • Integrating Search Server 2008 Express with WSS 3.0

    I'm setting up the environment for an intranet using WSS (Windows SharePoint Services) 3.0. The catch is getting the environment configured to work with MS Search Server 2008 Express. Here's the environment I'd like to setup: A: Web Server; Win Server 2003 SP2; WSS 3.0 SP2; IIS 6.0; .NET 3.5 SP1 B: Search Server; Win Server 2003 SP2; WSS 3.0 SP2; IIS 6.0; .NET 3.5 SP1; Search Server 2008 Express C: Database Server; Win Server 2003 SP2; SQL Server 2000 SP3 - Admin db, Content db, Config db, Search db The question is whether 3 servers can be used like the above configuration or if the Search Server (B) has to be combined with (A) since we're using the free Express version of the Search Server. The documentation from MS doesn't make it clear either way. I can attack this problem with trial and error but would rather not. The bigger question is: What is the best practice for a WSS / Search Server installation?

But at some point Git suddenly became looking super popular and number of Git submitters on Debian popcon graph (see graph image below) literally exploded.     I am constantly switching between a project written in C# 4.0 and another one written in Java. I find it very difficult to read the code in Java, and I think it's because of its colors (or lack of them really) Is there any way to mimic the colors that VS.NET 2010 has inside eclipse? (even better would be to replace all its hotkeys for their equivalent in VS.NET, like ctrl+k for ctrl+f3, but I believe it would be utopic)
