• JavaOne Kicks Off with Sunday Keynotes

• Which ATI driver version did 10.04 use?

  I have a trouble with ATI driver with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. When I install ATI driver in Ubuntu 12.04 via "Additional Driver", then I can't shutdown Ubuntu, it showed blank (black) screen and my laptop still run. Sometimes, my screen like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9_iygesbBM But when I install Ubuntu 10.04 and install ATI driver via "Additional Driver", it's very good and no trouble I've seen. It's sweet but 10.04 is old and is supported to 4/2013. So I want to know why Ubuntu 10.04 works good better than 12.04 with ATI driver (in my case)?

• Maya Animated Character export for XNA 4.0 problem

  To begin with, I'm trying to export an animated character in .fbx format from Maya 2013 to XNA 4.0 In Maya, The Model has a basic rig and the animations are in clips made in the Trax editor. so the issue i'm having is after selecting the model and the root joint and then hitting export in .fbx format, for some reason when i open the exported .fbx file the joint system is detached from the model with no animation. Btw, i have the animations in clips so that they can be called in code, for example "run","walk","attack". So, what can i do to solve this problem? Thank you.

• Internet connection randomly drops out

  Since a week or 2, I have this random network failures. No error pops up, the system says it's still connected to the internet(wifi and wired). The problem is, I can't connect to anything, even a ping google.com gives no feedback. And after many network-manager resets it will work again, for just a minute, and drop out again. I noticed that the /etc/resolv.conf contains this line: nameserver 127.0.0.1 I left out the "Do not edit" stuff, and after it worked for a second, this line is added: search lan When I change the nameserver to 8.8.8.8, I am still able to connect to anywhere. Does anyone got a clue what is happening here? I will provide any information asked. Thanks in advance p.s. I run Ubuntu 13.04 since lastnight(24-06-2013)

• PowerShell 3.0 x64 bit broken after installing KB2506143

  I have searched using all kinds of variations on relevant terms and I cannot find a single other instance of someone else having this excact same problem, so I am hoping someone here may have a clue. Problem I installed Windows Management Framework 3.0 (KB2506143) by downloading and running Windows6.1-KB2506143-x64.msu from Microsoft.com. Once completed I rebooted my machine as requested. After rebooting and logging in, I try to run the 64-bit PowerShell command shell and it comes up for a second then goes away. The 32-bit shell seems to work fine, it is just the 64-bit one that fails. Looking in the Fusion logs, I found: *** Assembly Binder Log Entry (10/4/2012 @ 1:51:48 PM) *** The operation failed. Bind result: hr = 0x80070002. The system cannot find the file specified. Assembly manager loaded from: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll Running under executable C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe --- A detailed error log follows. === Pre-bind state information === LOG: User = ********\***** LOG: DisplayName = Microsoft.PowerShell.ConsoleHost, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35, processorArchitecture=MSIL <remainder omitted> GacUtil reveals that there is a Microsoft.PowerShell.ConsoleHost, Version=1.0.0.0, but not 3.0.0.0. I tried uninstalling KB2506143 (which removed MSVCRT90.dll and caused Windows Live Messenger to fail on load after rebooting again, so I ran a repair in stall on Windows Live Essentials and that fixed the Messenger problem) and then re-installing it, but nothing changed. If it helps, here are what I think may be the relevant parts of my hardware/software environment. Environment Dell Latitude E6510, 8GB RAM Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with SP1 Visual Studio 2010 Professional installed (includes .NET 4.0) Visual Studio 2012 Professional installed Microsoft Forefront Client Security Any clues out there? • Migrating Printers from XP to 7 (using USMT 4.0)

  I'm attempting to migrate a user from an XP machine to a 7 machine, using USMT 4.0 (User State Migration Tool, from Microsoft). For some reason the migration of printers isn't working, and none of the topics at Microsoft's TechNet are helping me out. They also mention a folder named DIManifests, which has to be present in the USMT directory. I've tried everything, but with no success. Can anyone please help me sort this one out? Apparently it's a bug, but there's gotta be some workaround. Thank you!

• Use hotplug and turn on/off PCI device for replacing NIC

  How can I turn off the PCI slots and change the device (especially NIC) without shutting the server down? I found a similar question (How do I turn off PCI devices?) but there are no /sys/bus/pci/slot and no files in /sys/bus/pci/slots. • Windows Embedded Compact 7

  This will be the official name of the new release of Windows CE. Windows Embedded Compact 7 is available as a public CTP and it already supports a wide range of CPUs and both the device emulator and VirtualPC emulated environments. So I’ll have to learn a new (and longer) name for my favorite OS… but I (and all my two readers!) will be able to test it as soon as the download from connect web site completes (I'm sorry for my readers, but you'll have to download it by yourselves). Here’s a link for the download (it's free but you’ll have to register on connect with a valid LiveId): https://connect.microsoft.com/windowsembeddedce Remember that this is still a beta (or “Community Technology Preview” if you speak marketing language) and so it’s better to not install it on your main development PC (or, at least, backup everything before installation) and that the features and performances you’ll get from this beta may not be the same ones of the final release of the OS.     Ich darf ja keine Namen nennen, aber der Gewinner unserer Umfrage auf der DOAG Konferenz 2012 steht fest und hat sich mit seiner Teilnahme selbst ein erstklassiges Nikolaus-Geschenk gemacht - und zwar ein niegelnagelneues iPad!!! Zugegeben - genau so wie auf dem Bild sieht das iPad des glücklichen Gewinners nicht aus, denn dieser Custom Design Wunsch von mir hätte wahrscheinlich ebenso viel gekostet wie eine ausgewachsene Exadata, aber das wird die Freude nicht trüben. Und freuen können sich auch noch die Gewinner auf den Plätzen 2 bis 5 - nämlich über eine Laptop-Tasche, hochwertigen Stift und Notizmappe aus Leder. Ich freue mich mit den Gewinnern und nicht zuletzt über die rege Teilnahme und vor allem die Ergebnisse der Umfrage. Auch dazu kann ich nicht viel sagen, nur so viel, dass Windows als Server Betriebssystem für Oracle Datenbanken kein Schattendasein führt. • Cannot delete a SharePoint web application

  What I have? I have normal web application and it has 3 site collections with name, "PDirectory". Other than this I have only Central administration web application in the farm. What I want? I want to delete that web application, "PDirectory". What problem am I facing? I am not able to delete the web application. I get below error when I try to delete it but, the site collections got deleted! Error: An object in the SharePoint administrative framework, "SPWebApplication Name=XXX Parent=SPWebService", could not be deleted because other objects depend on it. Update all of these dependants to point to null or different objects and retry this operation. • How to tell google a blog article has been updated?

  The URL of my posts has the publication date and slugged title, but how can I best show google search users that an article has been updated since its original publication? I was considering devoting a few characters of the meta description (e.g. "updated 2013-Aug-1), or doing so under the first h1 tag. I don't want to hurt the seo value of my site, but I also want to let users know that articles have been substantially updated since their publication. Is there a better way to do this?
