• snipMate only working on empty buffer?

  I'm attempting to use snipMate with sql files, however it doesn't seem to work when editing an existing file. If I create a new empty buffer (no file; e.g. launch gvim from the start menu), and set the filetype to sql (:set ft=sql), it works. However, if I then try to open a sql file (e.g. :e c:\blah.sql) and edit it, snipMate no longer works. What gives!? Setup: gvim vim 7.3 Windows 7 snipMate 0.84 Also, I do in fact have filetype plugin on in my .vimrc file. edit Apparently if I open an empty buffer, set the filetype to sql, then save to file using w c:\blah.sql, I now have a sql file open AND snipMate continues to work. edit Here's a gist of my current .vimrc in case it helps: https://gist.github.com/3946877

I have something that works, but seems far from the "Ruby way": def x(str, arr, rep='?') i = 0 query.gsub(rep) { i+=1; arr[i-1] } end Is there a more idiomatic way of doing this?   I have a data set for employees that contains name and 3 attributes (job function, job grade and location). I then have a data set for open positions that contains the requisition number and 3 attributes (job function, job grade and job location). For every employee, i would like the three attributes associated with them compared to the same three attributes of the open positions and have the cooresponding requisition numbers displayed for each employee where there is a match.

  Hi all, I'm having an issue creating a link like "<a href="javascript:window.open('www.microsoft.com');">Visit Microsoft</a> using stringbuilder. I am adding html to a panel dynamically and I am trying to create a popup link. The problem is that for some reason the link gets "mixed up". • Immersed versus 'normal' version of chrome

  I installed chrome, and now I have 2 ways to open chrome: if I open chrome from the metro-tile menu, I get the full-screen, immersed, windows-8 style chrome. If I start the link I got on my desktop, I get the windowed version. Apart from the fact that I would like to know how I might do that on purpose, I also want to know what's going on so I can use the windowed version (I prefer that for a browser) from all links I have, especially the one in the menu.

• Changing file browser in Scientific Linux

  I use Scientific Linux Release 6.1 (Carbon) with GNOME 2.28.2. When I double-click on a folder on the Desktop it is opened in "File Browser". When I open a folder via "Places" on the Main Menu Bar, the folder is opened in "File Manager". I dislike "File Manager" and I don't understand why there are two different programs (file managers) running depending on how I open a folder. How can I get rid of "File Manager"?

• Explorer right-click uploader for CMS?

  I'm looking for a "right-click upload" application like RightLoad - an application that can upload media files to a remote FTP server from the Windows Explorer's context menu. I want to customize the application to serve as a customized image uploading tool to a PHP-based CMS. The user would upload images and other media files to a defined FTP account (I'm also very open for other methods of transport, as long as they are supported by run-off-the-mill web hosting stacks) that they could then use in the CMS they log in to. For me to be able to do these customizations, the application would have to be Open Source - RightLoad is "only" Freeware. Alternatively, I'm open for closed-source and commercial suggestions as long as they allow "pre-packaged" server settings that can easily be deployed to the user. Does anybody know such a tool compatible with at least the most current versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7)?

  I have a Python script which needs to calculate the exact size of arbitrary strings displayed in arbitrary fonts in order to generate simple diagrams. I can easily do it with Tkinter.   In my application I can programmatically open explorer and select a file using the following code: void BrowseToFile(LPCTSTR filename) { CString strArgs; strArgs = _T("/select,\""); strArgs += filename; strArgs += _T("\""); ShellExecute(0, _T("open"), _T("explorer.exe"), strArgs, 0, SW_NORMAL); } My problem is that if I call this function a second time with a different file, but in the same folder, the selection in explorer does not change to the new file, but remains on the previous file. For example, if I call my function with C:\path\to\file1.txt, a new explorer window will open and file1.txt will be selected. If I call my function a second time with C:\path\to\file2.txt, the existing explorer window will be activated, but the selection will still be on file1.txt. Is there a way to force explorer to update the selection or a better way to accomplish this?

  In Python, for example: f = open('test','w') f.write('this is a test\n'.encode('utf-16')) f.write('another test\n'.encode('utf-8')) f.close() That file gets messy when I re-open it: f = open("test") print f.readline().decode('utf-16') # it leads to UnicodeDecodeError print f.readline().decode('utf-8') # it works fine However if I keep the texts encoded in one style (say utf-16 only), it could read back ok. So I'm guessing mixing two types of encoding in the same file is wrong and couldn't be decoded back, even if I do know the encoding rules of each specific string? Any suggestion is welcome, thank you!

  Hi All, I need to find the most efficient way of matching multiple regular expressions on a single block of text. To give an example of what I need, consider a block of text: "Hello World what a beautiful day" I want to replace Hello with "Bye" and "World" with Universe. I can always do this in a loop ofcourse, using something like String.replace functions availiable in various languages. However, I could have a huge block of text with multiple string patterns, that I need to match and replace. I was wondering if I can use Regular Expressions to do this efficiently or do I have to use a Parser like LALR. I need to do this in JavaScript, so if anyone knows tools that can get it done, it would be appreciated.

  When I boot into Windows on my Macbook Pro, I am unable to make the external monitor the default monitor. So when I play games full screen, they automatically open up on my laptop monitor. I want them to open up on my secondary monitor. The only solution I found to this is to make my external monitor mirror my laptop monitor. I can't even close the lid of the laptop monitor because that will cause the system to go to sleep.
