  • Installation of SAP Web Application Server 6.20 in Windows Vista

    I tried installing trial version of sap netweaver 7.1 in windows vista in my laptop but i couldnt succeed there.. then i tried installing SAP WEB AS 6.20 now.I am able to succeed till 91% completion.After that i get some errors and the installation stops... if anybody have any experiences please share.it will be really helpful.I mentioned the complete log details below. nfo: INSTGUI.EXE Protocol version is 10.     I've read Visual VM remotely over ssh but I think I've not fully understood because it was not working for me :-( Please can someone give some example? ssh -D 9696 [email protected] and visualvm.exe -J-Dnetbeans.system_socks_proxy=localhost:9696 -J-Djava.net.useSystemProxies=true starts visualvm, but no processes of external machine are shown (only the local ones like visualvm itself). Moreover sometimes (but not always) I got the message "channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused" in my ssh window. Any help?

  • DVD-ROM: Pioneer DVD-115GA not being detected.

    Specs to put things in context: AMD Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2.00 GHz / 2 x 512 MB PC-3200 DDR RAM / 160 GB IDE HDD / 128 MB GeForce 6200 AGP / FIC AM37 / Windows XP Pro SP3 So this computer is actually an upgraded EMachines T2482. I found a used DVD-ROM for cheap... the Pioneer DVD-115GA. I originally had a plain DVD Reader (Lite-On XJ-HD166S) which was quite useless. So I basically did a simple swap of the drive and powered up the computer. The drive could open and close, and I put in a DVD and it was spinning, but no detection. Going into the BIOS, the drive was not detected. (The IDE cable connecting the DVD-ROM is connected to the CD-ROM below it and then attached to the secondary IDE port on the motherboard.) So I started all the way up and tried to scan for hardware changes in Computer Management. Still, nothing. I have the software downloaded from the Pioneer site, and that couldn't detect anything. So what else can I try to hopefully get my DVD-ROM recognized by the BIOS? Thanks in advance!

  • Problem booting virtual machine after converting VMDK to VHD

    I used the VMWare VCenter Converter Standalone Client to convert a physical drive on my old PC to a virtual drive. The conversion worked fine and I ended up with a valid VMDK file. Next, I wanted to convert the VMDK to a VHD for use with Microsoft Virtual PC, since that's what I use on my new box. I used WinImage for the conversion and that worked fine, too. I can access the files from the virtual drive through WinImage. However, when I create a new virtual machine using Virtual PC and add the existing VHD file, the machine doesn't boot. The initial boot screen flashes with the amount of RAM and then the screen goes black. If I turn off the VM and reboot in safe mode I can see the drivers being loaded until eventually it gets to crcdisk.sys and hangs indefinitely. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm not opposed to starting over from scratch if there's another method to turn my physical machine into a Virtual PC VM. Thanks! EDIT - I should add that the virtual drive is a system boot drive and not a secondary drive. EDIT - I tried booting from the install CD and doing a repair. The result was that the system could not be repaired due to a "driver error."

    Most people advice against rewriting every (internal) url to include the sessionId (both GET and POST). The standard argument against it seems to be:   If an attacker gets hold of the sessionId, they can hijack the session.   With the sessionId in the url, it easily leaks to the attacker (by referer etc.) But what if you put the sessionId in both an (encrypted) cookie and the url. if the sessionId in either the cookie or the url is missing or if they do not match, decline the request. Let's pretend the website in question is free of xss holes, the cookie encryption is strong enough, etc. etc. Then what is the increased risk of rewriting every url to include the sessionId? UPDATE: @Casper That is a very good point. so up to now there are 2 reasons: bad for search engines / SEO if used in public part of the website can cause trouble when users post an url with a session Id on a forum, send it trough email or bookmark the page apart from the:   It increases the security risk, but it is not clear what the increased risk is. some background info: I've a website that offers blog-like service to travellers. I cannot be sure cookies work nor can I require cookies to work. Most computers in internet cafes are old and not (even close to) up-to-date. The user has no control over them and the connection can be very unreliable for some more 'off the beaten path' locations. Binding the session to an IP-address is not possible, some places use load-balancing proxies with multiple IP addresses. (and from China there is The Great Firewall). Upon receiving the first cookie back, I flag cookies as mandatory. However, if the cookie was flagged as mandatory but not there, I ask for their password once more, knowing their session from the url. (Also cookies have a 1 time token in them, but that's not the point of this question). UPDATE 2: The conclusion seems to be that there are no extra *security* issues when you expose you session id trough the URL while also keeping a copy of the session id in an encrypted cookie. Do not hesitate to add additional information about any possible security implications

  • Scripting an automated SQLServer 2008 DR move

    Hi All We use the built in logshipping in SQLServer to logship to our DR site but once in a month do a DR test which requires us to move back and forth between our Live and BAckup servers. We run multiple (30) databases on the system so manually backing up the final logs and disabling the jobs is too much work and takes too long. I though no problem, I will script it but have run into trouble with it always complaninig that the final logship is too early to apply even though I dont export the final log until putting the database into norecovery mode. Firstly, does any one no a simple and reliable way of doing this? I have lokoed at some 3rd party software (redgate sqlbackup I think it was) but that didnt make it easy in this situation either. What I want to be able to do is basically run a script (a series of stored procedures) to get me to DR and run another to get me back with no dataloss. My scripts are very simplistic at the moment but here they are: 2 servers Primary Paris Secondary ParisT The StartAgentJobAndWait is a script written by someone else (ta) and just checks the jobs have finished or quits it if it never ends.   • ZFS - destroying deduplicated zvol or data set stalls the server. How to recover?

    I'm using Nexentastor on a secondary storage server running on an HP ProLiant DL180 G6 with 12 Midline (7200 RPM) SAS drives. The system has an E5620 CPU and 8GB RAM. There is no ZIL or L2ARC device. Last week, I created a 750GB sparse zvol with dedup and compression enabled to share via iSCSI to a VMWare ESX host. I then created a Windows 2008 file server image and copied ~300GB of user data to the VM. Once happy with the system, I moved the virtual machine to an NFS store on the same pool. Once up and running with my VMs on the NFS datastore, I decided to remove the original 750GB zvol. Doing so stalled the system. Access to the Nexenta web interface and NMC halted. I was eventually able to get to a raw shell. Most OS operations were fine, but the system was hanging on the zfs destroy -r vol1/filesystem command. Ugly. I found the following two OpenSolaris bugzilla entries and now understand that the machine will be bricked for an unknown period of time. It's been 14 hours, so I need a plan to be able to regain access to the server. http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6924390 and http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do;jsessionid=593704962bcbe0743d82aa339988?bug_id=6924824 In the future, I'll probably take the advice given in one of the buzilla workarounds: Workaround Do not use dedupe, and do not attempt to destroy zvols that had dedupe enabled. Update: I had to force the system to power off. Upon reboot, the system stalls at Importing zfs filesystems. It's been that way for 2 hours now.

    Hi Everyone, I hope that someone would point me in the correct direction - it looks like I have no enough konwledge in the subject and timeframes are too tight for me to explore different scenarios in depth.. We have two datacenters few miles away from each other connected by 100 Mbps link.Each datacenter will have 5 BL490 blades with ESX Standard hosting about 50 VMs. Eac hsite has HP eva4400 SAN with SAN replication set up.VC is going to be in the first datacenter and both datacenter are networked. SAN Replication is block level so it seems like I cannot just replicate changes but all writes would have to be replicated.This should not be a problem as link can sustain about 1.8 TB a dayand data can be buffered. I am having trouble however visioning how recovery would work in this case.We don't need instant recovery , I would say 4 hours recovery time is accepted so fancy automatic SRM like DR scenario would not be easily accepted due to the financial reasons, however any comments are welcomed. Current idea is following: replicate LUNs from primary site to the secondary.When disaster strikes, IT personnel switches on ESX hosts on the remote side and connects replicated LUNS to them, then registers VMs and changes IP address. I understand that this seems like horribly manual process and I almost sure I have missed some obvious pitfalls here. Could someone let me know what direction should I go?An articles regarding the subject? This is a brand new setup and we would rather build up basic recovery process and scale it later.I just need to have a right direction to allow for such scalability. Thank you very much in advance!

    I am toying with trace route, my application send a ICMP echo request with a ttl of 0 every time i receive a time exceeded message i increment the ttl by one and resent the package, but what happens is I have 2 routers on my network i can trace the route through these router but third hop always ends up being one of the open dns servers same ip every time no matter where i traceroute to. AFAIK this is the correct traceroute implementation, can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?

  • Why does my dd backup of MacBook OS X fail to boot upon restore?

    I created a backup of a MacBook hard drive (WD2500BEVS-88US) by hooking it up as a secondary drive on my linux system (Ubuntu 10.10). I used the following command: sudo dd if=/dev/sdc of=/home/backup.img bs=2M This appears to have completed with no errors. I noticed that the file is only 68 GB in size even though the drive is 250 GB in capacity. I restored the image to a spare drive (WD2500BEVS) with the following command: sudo dd if=/home/backup.img of=/dev/sdb bs=2M When I boot the spare drive in the Mac, it appears to start up for a few seconds and then shuts down. (It does not appear to load into the OS at all).   • ASP.NET Web Service Throws 401 (unauthorized) Error

    Hi Experts, I have this .NET application to be run in an intranet environment. It is configured so that it requires Windows Authentication before you can access the website (Anonymous access is disabled). This website calls a web service (enable anonymous access) and the web service calls the DB. We do have a token-based authentication between the web application and the web service to secure the communication between them. The issue I'm facing is that when I deploy this to production, I'm having an intermittent issue whereby the communication between the web application and the web service failed. The 401 issue was thrown. This is actually working fine in our QA environment. Is this an issue with Active Directory? Or could it be an isssue with FQDN as mentioned here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;896861? The weirdest thing is that this is happening intermittently when tested in both on the server itself and a remote workstation in my client's environment. I searched the web and am doubting whether I need a .htaccess file. That file does not exist in my root folder.   • mdadm+zfs vs mdadm+lvm

    This may be a naive question since I'm new to this and I cannot find any results about mdadm+zfs, but after some testing it seems it might work: The use case is a server with RAID6 for some data that is backed-up somewhat infrequently. I think I'm well served by any of ZFS or RAID6. Platform is Linux. Performance is secondary. So the two setups I am considering are: A RAID6 array plus regular LVM and ext4 A RAID6 array plus ZFS (without redundancy). Is this second option that I don't see discussed at all. Why ZFS+RAID6? It's mainly because the inability of ZFS to grow a raidz2 with new disks. You can replace disks with larger ones, I know, but not add another disk. You can accomplish 2-disk redundancy and ZFS disk growth using mdadm as the redundancy layer. Besides that main point (otherwise I could go directly to raidz2 without RAID under it), these are the pros-cons that I see for each option: ZFS has snapshots without preallocated space. LVM requires preallocation (might be no longer true). ZFS has checksumming (very interested in this) and compression (nice bonus). LVM has online filesystem growth (ZFS can do it offline with export/mdadm --grow/import). LVM has encryption (ZFS-on-Linux has not). This is the only major con of this combo I see. I guess I could go RAID6+LVM+ZFS... seems too heavy, or not? So, to close with a proper question: 1) Is there anything that inherently discourages or precludes RAID6+ZFS? Anyone has experience with a setup like this? 2) Are there possibilities for checksumming and compression that would make ZFS unnecessary (maintaining the possibility of filesystem growth)? Because the RAID6+LVM combo seems the sanctioned, tested way.
