  So, I've extended GridView to include an Advanced Search feature tailored to the needs of my organization. Filter - lets you show/hide columns in the table, and you can also reorder columns by dragging the little drag icon to the left of each item. Sort - Allows for the selection of multiple columns, specify Ascending or Descending. Search - Select your column and insert search parameters. Operators tailored to data type of selected column. Version 1 works, albeit slowly. Basically, I had my hands in the inner workings of CGridView, where I snatch the results from the DataProvider and do the searching and sorting in PHP before rendering the table contents. Now writing Version 2, where I aim to focus on clever CDbCriteria creation, allowing MySQL to do the heavy lifting so it will run quicker. The implementation is trivial when dealing with a single database table. The difficulty arises when I'm dealing with 2 or more tables... For example, if the user intends to search on a field that is a STAT relation, I need that relation to be present in my query. Here's the question. How do I assure that Yii includes all with relations in my query so that I include comparisons?   When I save a file in Visual Studio 2005, I'd like to have a macro also run that updates a copyright (through a regular expression search and replace). I'm not new to regular expressions, but I am new to VB/VBA and Visual Studio macros, so what I need help with specifically is: getting a macro to run upon save, preferably after I press CTRL-S but before it actually writes the file so that the results of the search and replace are actually saved without having to save twice calling search and replace for a regular expression from inside the VB/VBA macro Thanks, Mark

  I just setup a subdomain with the following RewriteCond: RewriteCond $1 !^search.php$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/?([^/]+)$ search.php?q=$1 [L,NS] I'm using the same rewrite condition on my main domain and it works perfectly. However, when I set it up on the subdomain, it simply outputs "index.php" when going to http://sub.domain.com Every page on the subdomain outputs the page name in the body instead of processing the code, except for the search page, which appears to be working correctly. What can I do to correct this issue?

• What changes were made to a document

  Part of my job is writing functional specs. Due to the inevitable iterative and incremental nature of software design/development, these specs need to be updated with additions/deletions/changes over a period of time. When the time comes for a developer to implement features or update their design document (or a tester to test the feature or update their test specs) they need to be doing that against the latest spec. The problem is that if they have reviewed this document already, they need a quick way to find the delta from the last time they reviewed it to see what changes exist and how their existing plans may be affected (instead of having to read the entire document again). Doing that is very easy assuming your Word documents are hosted on SharePoint. 1. Every time you review a document note the SharePoint version and/or date (if it is a printed copy, make sure your printout includes the date in the footer – all my specs do) 2. When you need to see what changed, open the document (make sure you are not using a cached or local offline copy) and on the ribbon go to the "Review" tab and then  click on the "Compare" button. 3. Click on the "Specific Version…" option. In the dialog that pops up pick the last version you reviewed and click the "Compare" button. [TIP for authors: before checkin of your document, always compare against the "Last Version" on the SharePoint so you can add appropriate more complete check in comments] 4. What you see now is that in addition to the document you have open, two other documents just opened up. One is in the background (flashing on your task bar) – close that one as it is the old version. 5. The other document is in the foreground and contains all the changes between the old version and the latest one. Be sure not to make edits to this document, use it only for reading the changes. To find all the changes, on the ribbon under the "Review" tab, click on the "Reviewing Pane" to open the reviewing pane on the left. You can now click on each pink change to see what it is. 6. When you are done reviewing changes close the document and don't save any changes (remember if you want to make edits/additions/comments make them in the original document which is still open). • Most efficient way to store list structure in XML

  Starting a new project and was planning on storing all of my web content in XML. I do not have access to a database so this seemed like the next best thing. One thing I'm struggling with is how to structure the XML for links (which will later be transformed using XSLT). It needs to be fairly flexible as well.   I would like to implement something similar to the Google quick scroll extension with jquery for the extracts of a search result, so when the full document is opened (within the same website) it gives the user the opportunity to go straight to the extract location. Is there an existing jquery script for this? If not, can you suggest any jquery/javascript code that would simplify my task to implement this. Notes: I can access the extracts from the document details page. I'm aware that the HTML in some cases could be slightly different in the extract than in the details page, finding no match. The search engine does not return where the extract was located. At the moment I'm trying to understand the JS code that the extension uses.

• Planning an Event&ndash;SPS NYC

  I bet some of you were wondering why I am not going to any events for the most part in June and July (aside from volunteering at SPS Chicago).  Well I basically have no life for the next 2 months.  We are approaching the 11th hour of SharePoint Saturday New York City.  The event is slated to have 350 to 400 attendees.  This is second year in a row I’ve helped run it with Jason Gallicchio.  It’s amazingly crazy how much effort this event requires versus Kansas City.  It’s literally 2x the volume of attendees, speakers, and sponsors plus don’t even get me started about volunteers.  So here is a bit of the break down… We have 30 volunteers+ that Tasha Scott from the Hampton Roads Area will be managing the day of the event to do things like timing the speakers, handing out food, making sure people don’t walk into the event that did not sign up until we get a count for fire code, registering people, watching the sharpees, watching the prizes, making sure attendees get to the right place,  opening and closing the partition in the big room, moving chairs, moving furniture, etc…Then there is Jason, Greg, and I who will be making sure that the speakers, sponsors, and everything is going smoothly in the background.  We need to make sure that everything is setup properly and in the right spot.  We also need to make sure signs are printed, schedules are created, bags are stuffed with sponsor material.  Plus we need to send out emails to sponsors reminding them to send us the right information to post on the site for charity sessions, send us boxes with material to stuff bags, and we need to make sure that Michael Lotter gets there information for invoicing.  We also need to check that Michael has invoiced everyone and who has paid, because we can’t order anything for the event without money.  Once people have paid we need to setup food orders, speaker and volunteer dinners, buy prizes, buy bags, buy speakers/volunteer/organizer shirts, etc…During this process we need all the abstracts from speakers, all the bios, pictures, shirt sizes, and other items so we can create schedules and order items.  We also need to keep track of who is attending the dinner the night before for volunteers and speakers and make sure we don’t hit capacity.  Then there is attendee tracking and making sure that we don’t hit too many attendees.  We need to make sure that attendees know where to go and what to do.  We have to make all kinds of random supply lists during this process and keep on track with a variety of lists and emails plus conference calls.  All in all it’s a lot of work and I am trying to keep track of it all the top so that we don’t duplicate anything or miss anything.  So basically all in all if you don’t see me around for another month don’t worry I do exist. Right now if you look at what I’m doing I am traveling every Monday morning and Thursday night back and forth to Washington DC from New Jersey.  Every night I am working on organizational stuff for SharePoint Saturday New York City.  Every Tuesday night we are running an event conference call.  Every weekend I am either with family or my boyfriend and cat trying hard not to touch the event.  So all my time is pretty much work, event, and family/boyfriend.  I have 0 bandwidth for anything in the community.  If you compound that with my severe allergy problems in DC and a doctor’s appointment every month plus a new med once a week I’m lucky I am still standing and walking.  So basically once July 30th hits hopefully Jason Gallicchio, Greg Hurlman, and myself will be able to breathe a little easier.  If I forget to do this thank you Greg and Jason.  Thank you Tom Daly.  Thank you Michael Lotter.  Thank you Tasha Scott.  Thank you Kevin Griffin.  Thank you all the volunteers, speakers, sponsors, and attendees who will and have made this event a success.  Hopefully, we have enough time until next year to regroup, recharge, and make the event grow bigger in a different venue.  Awesome job everyone we sole out within 3 days of registration and we still have several weeks to go.  Right now the waitlist is at 49 people with room to grow.  If you attend the event thank all these guys I mentioned above for making it possible.  It’s going to be awesome I know it but I probably won’t remember half of it due to the blur of things that we will all be taking care of the day of the event.  Catch you all in the end of July/Early August where I will attempt to post something useful and clever and possibly while wearing a fez.
