  Hi all, Here is the situation, in order to support our legacy system, we need to insert to a table whenever a user logs in. This is basically an CRUD operation, so it doesn't really make sense to create repository/entity/command/event for this since this doesn't tie to any business rules at all. The only benefit to create a CQRS command is that this database write can happen asynchronously under that model. Which is a better route to take? Use CQRS, and then call a stored proc. when handling that command? Just call database directly in the controller (I am using asp.net mvc)

The aim is to move the "confirm cancel" interaction to the control rather than having it in the ViewModel. Functional outline: 1) Have a property IsDirty, needs to support binding 2) Has two "states", controled by IsDirty IsDirty = false - Content is "Close" IsDirty = true - Content is "Cancel" 3) When clicked if it is Dirty show a message box to confirm cancel, before calling the command 4) Both states will call the command Usage would be <i:CancelButton Command="{Binding Path=CloseCommand}" IsDirty="{Binding Path=IsDirty}"/> I am looking for pointers, I think a Templated Control would be the best option, but need some guidance on how to do this

  hi I am looking for code beautifier for UNIX/emacs. I have looked at gnu indent, artistic style, however I need something a bit different. For example, I would like the following: for( int x= 0;; ++ x) if(x) break; to be formatted as for (int x = 0; ; ++x) if (x) break;. As far as I can tell artistic style does not do that (correct me if I am wrong). What can you recommend? Thanks edit both, artistic style and indent remove whitespace.   I have installed vim 7.3 on debian system along with some vimrc i have downloaded from internet. It used to work fine on my other debian machine but here i get these error messages while i load the vim editor. • Selenium / FlashSelenium calling the wrong methods?

  Seems like sometimes when Selenium should call a certain method, it instead calls another, as pointed out by the following log: 14:57:18.328 INFO - Command request: getEval[this.browserbot.findElement("someElement").doFlexClick('someIdOfAButton','');, ] on session 21708b0a4a154ebc96c9720c14578e74 14:57:18.343 INFO - Got result: OK,Error: Cannot type text into someIdOfAButton on session 21708b0a4a154ebc96c9720c14578e74 I've tried both Selenium server 1.0.3 and the 2.0 alpha 7 versions, they both display this behaviour. FlashSelenium is involved so I'm not sure where along the way lies the bug. Furthermore it's hard to reproduce as it doesn't happen only for some methods, and doesn't always happen. I've tried searching for issues similar to these but couldn't find any remotely similar... Anyone experienced the same behavior? And if so, is there a fix for it? Edit: I doubt FlashSelenium is at fault for this, as the log tells that the command arrives correctly at the server... But I can't seem to be able to follow the path of execution from the moment the Selenium server gets the command and passes over to the browser, to the moment where it gets the response.

• Shift browser contents to the left while viewing in wide screen

  I use a widescreen laptop. Many websites have their content centre aligned. On wider screens this means lot of empty space on left and right. As such this is not a botheration. Many a times, I read some instructions on the web page and type them out on the command prompt. I prefer to overlay the command prompt window on top of the browser and if the browser contents are left aligned (or right aligned), then I need not Alt-tab across these windows. I use Firefox on Ubuntu. I use the command line (konsole) heavily. I know compiz (and similar) tools provides transparent windows so that the content beneath is visible. But I don't want to install compiz or its equivalent because my graphics driver is not all that good. Any addon or simple trick that would shift the page content to the left (or right) would be very helpful (read productive).

  I wanted to display a long list of strings from an array. Right now, my script run through a for loop echoing each value to the standard output: for value in ${values[@]} do echo $value done Yeah, that's pretty ugly! And the one column listing is pretty long too... I was wondering if i can find a command or builtin helping me to display all those values in columns, like the ls command does by default when listing a directory (ls -C). • In XAML is there way to bind key press and key release to specific commands?

  In my application I have keys that bound to commands using the KeyBinding class. The command is executed when the key is pressed and released. I have a special case where I want to bind separate commands to the pressed action and to the released action. For example when the space key is pressed I want my app to run a command to enter a special mode. Then when the space key is released I want to run another command to exit that special mode. Currently I do this by manually handling the KeyUp and KeyDown events. Is there anyway to execute commands for pressed and released purely in XAML?

Is there any advantage to using using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(conStr)) { using (SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand()) { // dostuff } } instead of using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(conStr)) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(); // dostuff } Obviously it does matter run more than one command with the same connection, since closing an SqlDataReader is more efficient than closing and reopening a connection (calling conn.Close();conn.Open(); will also free up the connection). I see many people insist that failure to close the DataReader means leaving open connection resources around, but doesn't that only apply if you don't close the connection?

• How do I redirect stdin/stdout when I have a sequence of commands in Bash?

  I've currently got a Bash command being executed (via Python's subprocess::Popen) which is reading from stdin, doing something and outputing to stdout. Something along the lines of: pid = subprocess.Popen( ["-c", "cmd1 | cmd2"], stdin = subprocess.PIPE, stdout = subprocess.PIPE, shell =True ) output_data = pid.communicate( "input data\n" ) Now, what I want to do is to change that to execute another command in that same subshell that will alter the state before the next commands execute, so my shell command line will now (conceptually) be: cmd0; cmd1 | cmd2 Is there any way to have the input sent to cmd1 instead of cmd0 in this scenario? I'm assuming the output will include cmd0's output (which will be empty) followed by cmd2's output. cmd0 shouldn't actually read anything from stdin, does that make a difference in this situation? I know this is probably just a dumb way of doing this, I'm trying to patch in cmd0 without altering the other code too significantly. That said, I'm open to suggestions if there's a much cleaner way to approach this.

• Why does order matter for ImageMagick's -colorspace operation?

  Starting with ImageMagick 6, the command style changed to solve a bunch of problems outlined in the Basic Usage document. That document does imply that for simple operations, one should only need to move the options from before the source file to between the source and output files to convert from the "old" style to the "new" style. However, this doesn't seem to work for the -colorspace operation. When I use the following command, I get an output file with the correct colors: convert -colorspace rgb input.pdf output.png But when I try to use the new command style, the -colorspace operation is never applied: convert input.pdf -colorspace rgb output.png Samples: Why does this occur?

• Vim: multi-file editing - having different makes in different splits

  I'm a recent vim convert (from fancy IDEs like eclipse.) I love the :make command in vim and use it extensively; however I also like to edit multiple projects (with separate makefiles.) So usually to edit more than one project I will do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp [suspend signal] pushd ../project2 vim project2.cpp and now I can switch between the two projects with ctrl+z i.e. suspend signal, and fg. When this becomes an issue is when I want to open one project in the context of another so I can do copy/pasting. So if instead in the above I do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp :vsp ../project2/project2.cpp I can edit both concurrently in the same vim process, however I can't effectively build one or the other with the :make command, it will only build project 1. Does anyone have some kind of scheme that gives them the best of both worlds: being able to edit concurrently while still being able to build multiple projects with the :make command all from the same vim process?

  If I have many input controls in a form (There are separate validators for each of these input controls - like required,length and so on ) , there is a command button which submits the form and calls an action method. The requirement is - though the input control values are , say , individually okay - the combination of these values should be okay to process them together after the form submission - Where do i place the code to validate them together? 1) Can i add a custom validator for the command button and validate the combination together? like validate(FacesContext arg0, UIComponent arg1, Object value) but even then I will not have values of the other input controls except for the command button's/component's value right ? 2) can i do the validation of the combination in the action method and add validation messages using FacesMessage ? or do you suggest any other approach? • Unix - "xargs" - output "in the middle" (not at the end!)

  Hello, example use of "xargs" application in Unix can be something like this: ls | xargs echo which is the same as (let's say I have "someFile" and "someDir/" in the working dir): echo someFile someDir so "xargs" take its "input" and place it "at the end" of the next command (here at the end of echo). But sometimes I want xargs to place its input somewhere "in the middle" of next command. For example: find . -type f -name "*.cpp" -print | xargs g++ -o outputFile so if I had in the current directory files "a.cpp" "b.cpp" "c.cpp" the output would be the same as with the command: g++ -o outputFile a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp but I want to have something like this: g++ a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp -o outputFile Is there a way to do it? P.S.: I need it in some cases, because e.g.: i586-mingw32msvc-g++ -o outputFile `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtkmm-2.4` a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp doesn't work but this one works fine: i586-mingw32msvc-g++ a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp -o outputFile `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtkmm-2.4` Thanks. • Calling software modules (Java, Perl, etc.) from R

  I've recently started using R for Natural Language Processing tasks and find that a lot of applications are available in Java and Perl (for my purposes). For example: A few perl modules are available to find distance measures between words by querying Wordnet. I am aware of the R Wordnet package, but it does not perform the tasks that these CPAN modules do. Many Java packages for NLP are out there, which I'd like to use from within R. I know of rJava, RSPerl, the simple system command amongst others, but I'd like more examples of how I could make calls to Java and Perl applications from R. Recently I tried capturing console output from a perl script. cat( 'print "Hello World\n";',file="hello.pl" ) system(command="c:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl") system(command=paste(Sys.getenv("COMSPEC"),"/c","C:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl")) None of the above system commands showed 'Hello World' on the R console. I've used "system" before to run perl scripts to perform tasks without wanting to capture console output.   I am trying to create something in Perl that is basically like the Unix "tee" command. I'm trying to read each line of STDIN, run a substitution on it, and print it. (And eventually, also print it to a file.) This works if I'm using console input, but if I try to pipe input to the command it doesn't do anything. Here's a simple example: print "about to loop\n"; while(<STDIN>) { s/2010/2009/; print; } print "done!\n"; I try to pipe the dir command to it like this: C:\perltestdir | mytee.pl about to loop done! Why is it not seeing the piped input?

  Dear All, I am migrating my application from 32bit(Windows 2003 Server) to 64bit (Windows 2008 Server R2).I am getting the following while trying to execute a SQL command Encountered ODBC error -1: S1010, 0, [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Function sequence error . Basically internal function call is SQLExecute() function call. This works perfectly for Windows 2003 Server 32bit. I tried the command execute at the background from the command prompt and it is working. Any help or suggestion would be very much appreciated. I checked the squence of call.We have two consecutive SQLBindParameter function call and then we call SQLExecute. Is this sequence incorrect in case of 64bit? I also checked the return code given by SQLExecute which is 99. Any pointers or suggestions would be very helpful. The above sequence is working fine with 32bit Windows. Thanks in advance. -R
