• [Kubuntu 14.04][Eclipse] (ADT) crashes at button OK from Project properties

  Since i upgraded to kubuntu 14.04, my Eclipse crashes at different situations. Mostly i can "simulate" it when going to project properties and press ok. Then it always crashes. But the application appearance also is ugly. Beside that i get a lot of errors/warnings like that: (SWT:6148): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_closure_add_invalidate_notifier: assertion 'closure->n_inotifiers < CLOSURE_MAX_N_INOTIFIERS' failed or other GTK warnings from the particular design, not having theme-engine. Which actually doesn't cause any crahs it seems so far. So i have 3 options: accept crashes accept warnings (maybe the best choice) accept ugly design What can i do to solve this issue without changing the design settings?

• Any Practical Alternative to the Signals + Slots model for GUI Programming?

  The majority of GUI Toolkits nowadays use the Signals + Slots model. It was Qt and GTK+, if I am not wrong, who pioneered it. You know, the widgets or graphical objects (sometimes even ones that aren't displayed) send signals to the main-loop handler. The main-loop handler then calls the events, callbacks or slots assigned for that widget / graphical object. There are usually default (and in most cases virtual) event-handlers already provided by the toolkit for handling all pre-defined signals, therefore, unlike previous designs where the developer had to write the entire main-loop and handler for each and every message himself (think WINAPI), the developer only has to worry about the signals he needs to implement new functionality on. Now this design is being used in most modern toolkits as far as I know. There are Qt, GTK+, FLTK etc. There is Java Swing. C# even has a language feature for it ( events and delegates ), and Windows Forms has been developed on this design. In fact, over the last decade, this design for GUI programming has become a kind of an unwritten standard. Since it increases productivity and provides greater abstraction. However, my question is: Is there any alternative design, that is parallel or practical for modern GUI programming? i.e Is the Signals + Slots design, the only practical one in town? Is it feasible to do GUI Programming with any other design? Are any modern (preferably successful and popular) GUI toolkits built on an alternative design?

Looking Under the Hood of Networking in Oracle VM Server for x86 Oracle VM Server for SPARC lets you create logical networks out of physical Ethernet ports, bonded ports, VLAN segments, virtual MAC addresses (VNICs), and network channels. You can then assign channels (or "roles") to each logical network so that it handles the type of traffic you want it to. Greg King explains how you go about doing this, and how Oracle VM Server for SPARC implements the network infrastructure you configured. He also describes how the VM interacts with paravirtualized guest operating systems, hardware virtualized operating systems, and VLANs. Finally, he provides an example that shows you how it all looks from the VM Manager view, the logical view, and the command line view of Oracle VM Server for x86. • Virtually the fastest way to try Solaris 11 (and Solaris 10 zones)

  If you're looking to try out Solaris 11, there are the standard ISO and USB image downloads on the main page.  Those are great if you're looking to install Solaris 11 on hardware, and we hope you will.  But if you take the time to look down the page, you'll find a link off to the Oracle Solaris 11 Virtual Machine downloads.  There are two downloads there:A pre-built Solaris 10 zoneA pre-built Solaris 11 VM for use with VirtualBoxIf you're looking to try Solaris 11 on x86, the second one is what you want.  Of course, this assumes you have VirtualBox already (and if you don't, now's the time to try it, it's a terrific free desktop virtualization product).  Once you complete the 1.8 GB download, it's a simple matter of unzipping the archive and a few quick clicks in VirtualBox to get a Solaris 11 desktop booted.  While it's booting, you'll get to run through the new system configuration tool (that'll be the subject of a future posting here) to configure networking, a user account, and so on.So what about that pre-built Solaris 10 zone download?  It's a really simple way to get yourself acquainted with the Solaris 10 zones feature, which you may well find indispensible in transitioning an existing Solaris 10 infrastructure to Solaris 11.  Once you've downloaded the file, it's a self-extracting executable that'll configure the zone for you, all you have to supply is an IP address for the zone.  It's really quite slick!I expect we'll do a lot more pre-built VM's and zones going forward, as that's a big part of being a cloud OS; if there's one that would be really useful for you, let us know.

  I tried to apply the recommendation of question: Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) After running that command: sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev I get this error message: mount: mount point /mnt/dev does not exist fdisk -l returns /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 do I need to mount sda2 and sda5? Edited after @psusi's comment: /dev/sda1 is the boot file system It seems that I need to mount sda2 or sda5. • Lessons From OpenId, Cardspace and Facebook Connect

  (c) denise carbonell I think Johannes Ernst summarized pretty well what happened in a broad sense in regards to OpenId, Cardspace and Facebook Connect. However, I'm more interested in the lessons we can take away from this. First  - "Apple Lesson" - If user-centric identity is going to happen it's going to require not only technology but also a strong marketing campaign. I'm calling this the "Apple Lesson" because it's very similar to how Apple iPad saw success vs the tablet market. The iPad is not only a very good technology product but it was backed by a very good marketing plan. I know most people do not want to think about marketing here - but the fact is that nobody could really articulate why user-centric identity mattered in a way that the average person cared about. Second - "Facebook Lesson" - Facebook Connect solves a number of interesting problems that is easy for both consumer and service providers. For a consumer it's simple to log-in without any redirects. And while Facebook isn't perfect on privacy - no other major consumer-focused service on the Internet provides as much control about sharing identity information. From a developer perspective it is very easy to implement the SSO and fetch other identity information (if the user has given permission). This could only happen because a major company just decided to make a singular focus to make it happen. Third - "Developers Lesson" -  Facebook Social Graph API is by far the simplest API for accessing identity information which also is another reason why you're seeing such rapid growth in Facebook enabled Websites. By using a combination of URL and Javascript - the power a single HTML page now gives a developer writing Web applications is simply amazing. For example It doesn't get much simpler than this "http://api.facebook.com/mewilcox" for accessing identity. • You Don't Want to Meet Orgad Kimchi in a Dark Alley

  source Do you remember what those bad guys in the old Charles Bronson films looked like? They looked like Orgad Kimchi, that's what they looked like. When I met him at Oracle OpenWorld 2012, I realized I didn't want to meet him in the wrong alleyway of Budapest after dark. Neither do old versions of Oracle Solaris, which Orgad bends to his will with as much ease as he probably bends stray tourists to his will in Budapest, Kandahar, or Dagestan. How Orgad Made Oracle Database Migrate from Oracle Solaris 8 to Oracle Solaris 11 In this article, which we liked so much we reprinted it from his blog (please don't tell him!), Orgad explains how he head-butted an Oracle Database into submission. The database thought it was safe running in Oracle Solaris 8, but Orgad dragged its whimpering carcas into Oracle Solaris 11. How'd he do that? Well, if you had met Orgad in person, you wouldn't ask that question. Because you'd know he could have simply stared at it, and the database would have migrated on its own. But Orgad didn't do that. Instead, he stuffed an Oracle Solaris 8 Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) Archiver Tool into his leather trench coat, the one with the special pockets sown in by the East German Secret Police for several Uzis and their ammo, and walked into his data center in a way that reminded the survivors of this clip from Matrix Reloaded. The end result? The Oracle Database 10.2 that was running on Oracle Solaris 8 is now running inside a Solaris 10 branded zone in Oracle Solaris 11. With no complaints. Don't make Orgad angry. • Dell Laptop's Bluetooth isn't detected by Ubuntu

  I have Dell vostro 3500 Laptop. I Installed Ubuntu 12.04. It doesn't detect my bluetooth. below is my information. lsusb | grep Bluetooth Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0a5c:4500 Broadcom Corp. But I tried this, which is I installed windows xp on virtual box. Vbox showed me thow unknow USB devices. I connected them and installed windows bluethooth drivers to xp. But it didn't ditected Bluethooth either. Also, when I set off mode in hardware switch, those unknown devices disappear from Vbox usb device seletcion menu. So, they are definitely something to do with wifi or bluethooth. Please help me..

• Read-only lock on a SharePoint site collection, or Why can't I edit anymore?

  Monday morning, the calls started.  For some reason, long-time users were unable to edit list items.  I figured we had a permissions issue, so I popped in to look at the Site Settings -- and found that I couldn't.  A quick trip to Central Administration showed that I was still listed as a Site Collection Administrator, but I had no power at all on the site collection in question.A quick glance at the logs told me that the server had recently shut down unexpectedly (this is a Hyper-V virtual machine).  Apparently, in the confusion, somehow SharePoint decided to lock the site collection as Read Only.  This can be remedied in one of two ways:1)  In Central Administration, go to Application Management->SharePoint Site Management->Site collection quotas and locks.  Once you have arrived, select the correct application and site collection, and you will have the opportunity to view and set the lock status of the collection (it most likely will be set to "Read-only", and you'll want to move that radio button to "Not locked").2)  Fire up stsadm and issue the following command:stsadm -o setsitelock -url http://myportalsitecollection -lock none

• multiple godaddy domains to home router then reverse proxy to multiple internal servers [closed]

  I need someone to steer me correctly... advising on all required components. I have multiple domains with godaddy, say site1.com , site2.com, site3.net I have multiple home LAMP servers... one on say, lampsrv1 = 192.168.0.2:8080 (windows) and lampsrv2 = 192.168.0.3:9080 (linux srv2) I would like to have server1.site1.com point to lampsrv1 and server2.site1.com point to lampsrv2 . I may also want server1.site2.com also point to my lampsrv1 as an option. My thinking is - I have a dedicated linux srv1 with a reverse proxy server behind the router, ie Apache or NGINX or equivalent directing to appropriate LAMP server. It's the godaddy subdomains, cnames or redirections, etc I'm having a challenge with for starters... I have tested apache with virtual servers but can't get proxying to work based on host header info... seems to go to one address making me think its actually the apache reverse proxying that's not quite working. Finally to add to this, my router has a dynamic IP but does lease for quite a while but that would be my final piece. So, I'm sure this might be a popular question but can't seem to piece this together. I need someone who has actually configured this scenario to advise but will take other suggestions.... please indicate if you have successfully configured this.

  i have opened this thread because i upgraded to ubuntu 12.10 beta (kernel 3.5) and i have problem with vmware workstation 9: "Unable to change virtual machine power state: Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to" does anyone got the same problem? Clean install of ubuntu 12.10 (daily build) installed vmware 9 and patched but not working, my laptop is a Lenovo T420 with Nvidia Optimus Technology. i can't patch correctly and get the thinks be builded correctly, my configuration is ubuntu 12.10 fresh installation vmware workstation 9 fresh install on top of a lenovo thikpad t420 with nvidia optimus video card. have a problems.. this message is show whem i try to apply the patch.. # Stopping VMware services: VMware Authentication Daemon done At least one instance of VMware VMX is still running. • Radeon HD 6850 VMware 3D Support?

  I'm a new Ubuntu user (new to all of linux actually). I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 x64 and have been enjoying it, but I wanted to see how it would perform using VMware for small time gaming since I find dual booting too much of a nuisance to even bother using Ubuntu at all (sorry!). I have an Asus EAH6850 DirectCU Radeon HD 6850 graphics card and I've installed the additional ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver, but when I open a Windows XP 32bit machine I installed through VMware, I get this message: "The GPU driver currently installed on this host may cause issues with VMware products. If you notice any issues please disable the 3D support in the affected virtual machines." I still have 3D capabilities in the VM but they are very very choppy even running the DX tests (the spinning cube). I've seen people on youtube and other forums saying that since the new 3D acceleration in VMware 8 gaming is very possible through VMs (and I've seen them running the DX tests with the spinning cube very smoothly). I'm wondering if my graphics card isn't fully supported or if I have installed it wrong. Also when I check system info (on the host Ubuntu machine) it says "Graphics VESA:BARTS" Should my Radeon HD 6850 be showing up there? The rest of my basic system info i5 2500k 8GB 1600MHz memory Guest is running with access to all 4 cores of processor and 3gb memory assigned.

• Undeploy multiple SOA composites with WLST or ANT by Danilo Schmiedel

  As part of our current project the Build Management team asked for a solution to undeploy multiple composites at one time. Of course you have the “Undeploy All from This Partition” menu option in Enterprise Manager but since we have a lot of deployments every day the guys wanted to have a script solution. It is even more important for the nightly deployments on our continuous integration environment – strange, we couldn’t find anybody who wants to do the undeployment via Enterprise Manager manually every night ;-) However with WLST or ANT the SOA Suite comes with two options to undeploy composites via script. In this article I’d like to explain you both ways. Undeployment with WLST You can test the steps below on Oracle's Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g. • Am I misunderstanding chown and chmod?

  I want to either extend the size of my guest partition or figure out how to copy stuff from the guest partition to my normal /home directory. (Because of some other problems I can only run Xorg as guest, but I can log into virtual console as myself or root.) Here's the motivation: I want to torrent a large file. It's larger than my guest filesystem. But I have plenty of space on my real drive, I just can't log into it graphically. So I tried to set up a "pipe" to get the file out of the tmpfs. I did: su -u myself #catch mkdir ~/receiver_dir sudo su cd /tmp/guest-lkj567UIO/ #throw ln -s mario_pipe /home/myself/receiver_dir chown -R guest-lkj567UIO /home/myself/receiver_dir chown -R guest-lkj567UIO /tmp/guest-lkj567UIO/mario_pipe chmod -R a+rw /home/myself/receiver_dir chmod -R a+rw /tmp/guest-lkj567UIO/mario_pipe su -u guest-lkj567UIO cd /tmp/guest-lkj567UIO cd mario_pipe touch something #success! However, when I try to torrent to /tmp/guest-lkj567UIO/mario_pipe, Transmission says I don't have write permissions. But it looks like I just wrote there? And that everybody (a+rw) can write there in fact? Maybe this indicates I don't actually understand chown and chmod but nothing from their man pages pops out.

• KVM not installed?

  When I run virt-manager, and click on the icon to create a new virtual machine, I get an error that KVM is not installed or is not loaded. I use Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 All qemu packages are version 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1 qemu-kvm and many other qemu packages installed... libvirt packages: 1.2.2-0ubuntu13.1 libvirt0 libvirt-bin libvirt-doc python-libvirt virt-manager 0.9.5-1ubuntu3 When I open terminal and enter lsmod | grep kvm I get nothing returned. No lines showing kvm or kvm_amd and no error of any kind. Hardware: Tyan S2877 with dual Opteron 285s I have the latest bios and don't see any setting in there to turn virtualization on or off. when I run sudo apt-get -s install qemu-kvm Here are the results: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done qemu-kvm is already the newest version. The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: kde-l10n-engb libgtk2-gladexml-perl libqt4-test libvncserver0 Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded. @jobin: the problem was my hardware. I just bought it a few months ago, although obviously used LOL
