  • Priority queue with dynamic item priorities.

    I need to implement a priority queue where the priority of an item in the queue can change and the queue adjusts itself so that items are always removed in the correct order. I have some ideas of how I could implement this but I'm sure this is quite a common data structure so I'm hoping I can use an implementation by someone smarter than me as a base. Can anyone tell me the name of this type of priority queue so I know what to search for or, even better, point me to an implementation?

    I have data in the form of four columns. The first three columns represent time, value1, value 2. The fourth column is binary, all 0's or 1's. Is there a way to tell excel to delete time, value1 and value 2, when the corresponding binary value in column four is 0? I know this is a lot easier in C++ or matlab, but for reasons beyond my control, I must do it in excel.

    I'm in the process of creating a responsive site (currently only working on the main content.) I've created two floated divs with percentage based widths. One contains an image which resizes with the browser resizing. The image has a min-width of 100px. Can anyone tell me why when put into a mobile sized width it doesn't drop down?     How can I get the filesize of a file in C when the filesize is greater than 4gb? ftell returns a 4 byte signed long, limiting it to two bytes. stat has a variable of type off_t which is also 4 bytes (not sure of sign), so at most it can tell me the size of a 4gb file. What if the file is larger than 4 gb?

When I deploy my Windows Service using InstallUtil.exe: a) do I have to explicitly tell it to reference my FooLib.dll? b) where does FooLib.dll get deployed if I mean to deploy it as a private assembly and not in the GAC?

    Regular HTML select boxes (such as, e.g. found here), while being "chosen" are presented by the iPhone on a native widget that seems to totally ignore regular html font sizes and whatnot. It does some ellipsing when it goes too long, but the font is way too big for a list I want to present -- even on landscape, only about 35 characters can fit. Is there any way to tell the iPhone to use a smaller font there?

    I wonder if UIScrollView has got an "hidden" subview acting as an container for the content. If I scroll a scroll view, is that content view moved up/down in the scroll view? Or is the scrolling offset applied to the bounds of that UIScrollView instance? Or: Does UIScrollView use an additional view as container, or is all content added directly to the view? The documentation doesn't tell much about wether it has a content container or not.
