• Throttling Cache Events

  The real-time eventing feature in Coherence is great for relaying state changes to other systems or to users. However, sometimes not all changes need to or can be sent to consumers. For instance; If rapid changes cannot be consumed or interpreted as fast as they are being sent. A user looking at changing Stock prices may only be able to interpret and react to 1 change per second. A client may be using low bandwidth connection, so rapidly sending events will only result in them being queued and delayed A large number of clients may need to be notified of state changes and sending 100 events p/s to 1000 clients cannot be supported with the available hardware, but 10 events p/s to 1000 clients can. Note this example assumes that many of the state changes are to the same value. One simple approach to throttling Coherence cache events is to use a cache store to capture changes to one cache (data cache) and insert those changes periodically in another cache (events cache). Consumers interested in state changes to entires in the first cache register an interest (event listener) against the second event cache. By using the cache store write-behind feature rapid updates to the same cache entry are coalesced so that updates are merged and written at the interval configured to the event cache.   Here is part 1 of our problem (Loading a dynamically generated XML file as PHP in Flash). Now we were able to get Flash to read the XML file, but we can only see the Flash render correctly when tested(test movie) from the actual Flash program. However, when we upload our files online to preview the Flash does not render correctly, missing some vital information(thumbnails, titles, video etc..). The expected run time should be about 10 seconds, but MSDeploy only runs it for about 2-3 seconds, after which time error details are returned.   This is a classic sort of question, I suppose, but it seems that most people are interested in having the textbox cause a postback. I'm not. I just want the event to fire when a postback occurs. I have created a webpart with a custom editorpart. The editorpart renders with a textbox and a button. Clicking the button causes a dialog to open. When the dialog is closed, it sets the value of the textbox via javascript and then does __doPostBack using the ClientID of the editorpart. The postback happens, but the TextChanged event never fires, and I'm not sure if it's a problem with the way __doPostBack is invoked, or if it's because of the way I'm setting up the event handler, or something else.   I wrote some AES encryption code in C# and I am having trouble getting it to encrypt and decrypt properly. If I enter "test" as the passphrase and "This data must be kept secret from everyone!"   I am trying to write a generic extension to turn a ManagementObjectCollection into a DataTable. This is just to make things easier for a startup script/program I am writing. I have ran into a problem with CimType. If I change my service definition to include a demand for the caller to be authenticated, like so: <OperationContract(), PrincipalPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Authenticated:=True)> _ Public Function GetLookupValues(ByVal prefixText As String, ByVal count As Integer, ByVal contextKey As String) As String() Then the autocomplete extender stops working, and I get an authentication error in the service. The service is set up to use ASPNetCompatibility mode, and I was hoping that the extender would pass the authentication credentials for my logged in user - does anyone know how to make this work?

• Optimized Image Loading in a UIScrollView

  I have a UIScrollView that has a set of images loaded side-by-side inside it. You can see an example of my app here: http://www.42restaurants.com. My problem comes in with memory usage. I want to lazy load the images as they are about to appear on the screen and unload images that aren't on screen. As you can see in the code I work out at a minimum which image I need to load and then assign the loading portion to an NSOperation and place it on an NSOperationQueue. Everything works great apart from a jerky scrolling experience. • How to scroll to the bottom of a UITableView on the iPhone before the view appears

  I have a UITableView that is populated with cells of a variable height. I would like the table to scroll to the bottom when the view is pushed into view. I currently have the following function NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:[log count]-1 inSection:0]; [self.table scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indexPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionBottom animated:NO]; log is a mutable array containing the objects that make up the content of each cell. The above code works fine in viewDidAppear however this has the unfortunate side effect of displaying the top of the table when the view first appears and then jumping to the bottom. I would prefer it if the table view could be scrolled to the bottom before it appears. I tried the scroll in viewWillAppear and viewDidLoad but in both cases the data has not been loaded into the table yet and both throw an exception. Any guidance would be much appreciated, even if it's just a case of telling me what I have is all that is possible.

  I have created a Delphi Service which prints TQuickReports. Everything works fine if compiled and run as a Windows Application. But when converted to operate as a service trying to create a form containing a TQuickRep component throws the exception. This service runs fine on many other boxes but not this one in particular. Here are some details: Using QuickReport version 4.07 Box is a Windows Server 2008 operating system. Using Delphi 2007 Printer.Printers.Count is returning a positive value. In fact I can list out all of the printers. I have tried running the service both using Local System Account and Logged on as an Admin.

  I need to write some dynamic queries for a project I'm working on. I'm finding out that a significant amount of time is being spent by my program on the Count and First methods, so I started to change to .Single, only to find out that there is no such method. The code below was my first attempt at creating one (mostly copied from the Where method), but it's not working. • WPF DataGrid : CanContentScroll property causing odd behavior

  i have a solution where i generate a DataGrid (or multiple instances) based on user criteria.. each grid keeps receiving data as it comes in via ObservableCollection the problem i had, was that the scroll acted weird. It was choppy, and scrollbar would resize it self while scrolling. than i found.. CanContentScroll property! It completely fixes the weird scrolling behavior bringing me temporary bliss and happiness. however, it causes 2 unfortunate side effects. whenever i re-create grid instances and bind them to my observable collection, it freezes my entire window for 5 seconds. when my grid grows to a big size, this delay can last for 30 seconds. when i call TradeGrid.ScrollIntoView(TradeGrid.Items(TradeGrid.Items.Count - 1)) to scroll to the bottom, it jumps to bottom and than back to the top. is there another way to achieve smooth scrolling perhaps?

• wix: does INSTALLDIR always end in a slash?

  I think the default dir gets a trailing slash. But what if the user selects a different directory? Is there a way for the INSTALLDIR to NOT have a trailing slash? It's not that I want it to not have a trailing slash. I want to know if I can count on it, so that, for example, [INSTALLDIR]Filter.dll ...will always resolve to a real, valid filesystem path. Currently I use [INSTALLDIR]\Filter.dll and I get a double-slash in there. It's valid and resolves, but I'd like to eliminate the double slash. thanks.
