  • Selectively allow unsafe html tags in Plone

    I'm searching for a way to put widgets from several services (PicasaWeb, Yahoo Pipes, Delicious bookmarks, etc.) on the community site I host on Plone (currently 3.2.1). I'm looking for a way to allow a group of users to use dangerous html tags. There are some ways I see, but I don't know how to implement those. One would be changing safe_html for the pages editors own (1). Another would be to allow those tags on some subtree (2). And yet another finding an equivalent of "static text portlet" that would display in the middle panel (3). We could then use some of the composite products (I stumbled upon Collage and CMFContentPanels), to include the unsafe content on other sites. My site has been ridden by advert bots, so I don't want to remove the filtering all together. I don't have an easy (no false positives) way of checking which users are bots, so deploying captcha now wouldn't help either. The question is: How to implement any of those solutions? (I already asked that on plone mailing list without an answer, so I thought I would give it another try here.)

  • Best practice way to handle variable content margin?

    Ok, so a quick site that I am throwing together for a friend has about 20 static pages. Each one with a small amount of content. the div Container contains, well, the div Content, and the div Content contains, obviously, the content that changes on each page. Now, depending on the length of the content, I want a different margin at the top. The less content, then the larger the margin. Simply an aesthetic choice. For example, if the content almost fills the static sized container, there is less padding, but a 1 line page of content might be 1/3 of the way down the static container. Centering the content in the div wont do, as that creates too large of a margin. Whats the best way to handle this? A new class for each content with a different margin? A new Id, so that it is in its own special div positioned or margined differently? Inline css on each page to override the standard css for div Content? A differnt spacer div inside Container before Content on each page? Some sort of scripting along the lines of margin of Content = (ContainerHeight - ContentHeight) / 3? Whats the acceptable way of doing this? I don't want to get into bad habits.

  • Align col in a bootstrap collapsable menu

    I got my hands on bootstrap recently and I'm still discovering it. I made collapsable menu from a tutorial online but now that I want to had an image on each entry of my menu that I wasn't expecting. I want my image to be always aligned to the text in the menu but it still getting on top of it. I tried to remove row and col tag and forget about the responsiveness of my menu but it still doesn't work...   • Why does ASP.Net rewrite relative paths for runat=server anchor controls?

    I have my UserControls in a ~/Controls folder in my solution: /Controls/TheControl.ascx If specify the following: <a runat="server" href="./?pg=1">link text</a> ASP.Net seems to want to rewrite the path to point to the absolute location. For example, If the control is on site.com/products/fish/cans.aspx the link href will be rewritten to read <a href="../../Controls/?pg=1>link text</a> Why does Asp.Net rewrite these control paths, and is there an elegant way to fix it? I just want the anchor control to spit out exactly what I tell it to!!! Is that so hard?

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly.     I need to create a chat layout that uses all the available space and scales nicely, but has few fixed sizes. Here's the structure: <table style="width: 100%; height: 100%"> <tr> <td></td> <td style="width: 200px; background: red;"></td> </tr> <tr> <td style="height: 100px; background: blue"></td> <td></td> </tr> </table> However, I want to place a lot of content in the first table cell and I want it to scroll, so it won't expand the table. Is it possible to make it overflow properly, without having a fixed height for the cell? Simply adding overflow: auto doesn't seem to work. PS. I hate tables, but can't figure out a very clean and cross-browser way to do a layout like this with divs and css. If someone can come up with one, I'll gladly use it.

    my site is aimed purely at the laptop market (dont ask why or argue!), all my users (or 95%+) we on a screen width of 1200+, netbooks are now taking off, with a resolution of 1024 wide. my site still looks great on a netbook if you zoom out once (ctrl-minus), but i don't want to rely on users knowing about ctrl-minus. what are my options besides redesign? I'm keen not to have zoom buttons on my page. is there a javascript zoomer outer?!!!
