  • need help speeding up tag cloud filter for IE

    - by rod
    Hi All, Any ideas on how to speed this up in IE (performs decent in Firefox, but almost unusable in IE). Basically, it's a tag cloud with a filter text box to filter the cloud. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#tagFilter').keyup(function(e) { if (e.keyCode==8) { $('#cloudDiv > span').show(); } $('#cloudDiv > span').not('span:contains(' + $(this).val() + ')').hide(); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <input type="text" id="tagFilter" /> <div id="cloudDiv" style="height: 200px; width: 400px; overflow: auto;"> <script type="text/javascript"> for (i=0;i<=1300;i++) { document.write('<span><a href="#">Test ' + i + '</a>&nbsp;</span>'); } </script> </div> </body> </html> thanks, rodchar

  • Show my website's content on other websites. Is iframe only option?

    - by Jashwant
    In my project, I have created a code snippet which can be copied and then put in any website. It shows my content on other websites. What I am using now is : <script type='text/javascript'> var user = 'abc'; var age = '23'; document.write('<iframe src="http://www.mysite.com/page.php?user='+ user + '&age=' + age + '" ></iframe'); </script> In page.php, I do some processing based on user and age and show dynamic content. My approach works fine. But when I look into some good standard ways to do such tasks, I find a different way. Take an example of google adsense code. <script type='text/javascript'> var a = 'somedata'; var b = 'someotherdata'; </script> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.google.com/adsenseurl.js'></script> I guess, since a and b are global; adsenseurl.js must be using it and may be finally they are showing it on iframe. So, now the question. What's the advantage in using google's approach and whats wrong in my approach ? p.s. I know I should try to avoid using iframes but I dont see any other way to accomplish this.

  • Keeping a web app project organized?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I'm writing a web app, using jsp to create the page content. I need a pretty good amount of javascript to make the app work. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to structure my project, such that it doesn't become a mess? This is a broad question, but the basic problem is that I'm insert javascript code directly into my jsp content. Then I might have some external js files. Ids and such are strewn between multiple files. I'm not really sure what a best practice is for keeping this type of project organized. Do you always keep your javascript in separate files? There has to be a few hooks in the jsp pages though for them, right? I tried using GWT because I'm really a c/java developer, and I was hoping it would help keep my project more organized (definitely helps) - but GWT is a pain to use with jsp, it really wants you to do all UI generation client side after the page is done loading, doesn't work for what I need to do. Again, broad question, any tips would be great, Thanks

  • Use external inline script as local function

    - by Aidan
    Had this closed once as a duplicate, yet the so-called duplicate DID NOT actually address my whole question. I have found this script that, when run inline, returns your IP. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://l2.io/ip.js"></script> http://l2.io/ip.js Has nothing more than a line of code that says document.write('123.123.123.123'); (But obviously with the user's IP address) I want to use this IP address as a return string for a function DEFINED EXTERNALLY, BUT STILL ON MY DOMAIN. That is, I have a "scripts.js" that contains all the scripts I wish to use, and I would like to include it in that list as a local function that calls to the 12.io function, but javascript won't allow the < tags, so I am unsure as to how to do this. I.e. function getIP() { return (THAT SCRIPT'S OUTPUT); } This is the topic this was supposedly a duplicate of, and it is very similar. Get ip address with javascript However, this DOES NOT address defining as a forwarded script it in my own script file.

  • not a proper naming convention but it's working fine, How and what is need of naming conventions if it works?

    - by Pravallika69
    I'm new to javascript programming. I have found below example while practicing javascript. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function changeTabIndex() { document.getElementById('1').tabIndex="3" document.getElementById('2').tabIndex="2" document.getElementById('3').tabIndex="1" } </script> </head> <body> <p><a id="1" href="http://www.w3schools.com">1</a></p> <p><a id="2" href="http://www.w3schools.com">2</a></p> <p><a id="3" href="http://www.w3schools.com">3</a></p> <input type="button" onclick="changeTabIndex()" value="Change TabIndex" /> </body> </html> What's my doubt is, naming conventions for id attribute must start with an alphabet followed by numbers and underscore. But in this example even though they used numbers as id's the code working fine.Then what is the need of following naming conventions. It seems to be simple but anyone please clarify it.

  • Get real height of div plus css generated content (if possible)

    - by qp2wd
    I'm trying to use javascript to give three divs a negative top position equal to their height. I've got it working, sort of (thanks to help from here!) but instead of calculating the height of each div and calculating the top position accordingly, each div is being assigned a negative top position of -367px: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { //Get height of footer popup var pHeight = $('footer ul li > ul').outerHeight(); //Calculate new top position based on footer popup height var nHeight = pHeight + "px"; $('footer ul li > ul').css({ //Change top position to equal height of footer popup 'top' : "-" + nHeight }); }); </script> I've tried this using .height, .outerheight, and even .getheight which someone mentioned on the Jquery documentation for .height. I also tried using an each statement, though it didn't seem to work; I may have written it incorrectly. In addition (if possible), I'd like the negative position to take into account the height of a content being generated using the css :after psuedo-property, though I can always manually add that in to the calculation if javascript has no way to access that. EDIT: Added a test page link. It's the bottom divs I'm trying to target with JS, but if anyone has an idea regarding how to fix the problem with the top divs I'd be much obliged as well. http://www.qualityprinters2.com/test/float-tab-test.html

  • twitter bootstrap collapsable nav menu

    - by clifgray
    I am using twitter bootstrap on my web app to do all of the styling and everything is great for the most part. The problem is that my nav bar, once collapsed, will not drop down when I click the dropdown icon. I have listed my HTML but I think the problem is with my javascript seeing as this fiddle with the exact same code: http://jsfiddle.net/YWUmb/30/ works just fine. <div class="navbar navbar-fixed-top"> <div class="navbar-inner"> <div class="container"> <a class="btn btn-navbar" data-toggle="collapse" data-target=".nav-collapse"> <span class="icon-bar"></span> <span class="icon-bar"></span> <span class="icon-bar"></span> </a> <a class="brand" href="/">Exployre</a> <div class="nav-collapse"> <ul class="nav"> <li><a href="/">Home</a></li> <li><a href="/profile">Profile</a></li> <li><a href="/sponsors">Sponsors</a></li> <li><a href="/working">Exployrers</a></li> <li><a href="/about">About</a></li> <li><a href="/share">Share</a></li> <li> {% if user %} User: {{ user }}<br> <a href="{{ logout }}">Logout</a> {% else %} <a href="/login">Signin or Register</a> {% endif %} <li> <a href="/profile"> {% if visits %} {% if visits > 10 %} Prestige: {{ visits }} {% elif visits > 5 %} {% endif %} {% endif %} </a> </li> <li> <form action="/search" class="navbar-search"> <div> <input type="text" placeholder="Search" class="search-query" name="q" size="55"/> </div> </form> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/coop/cse/brand?form=cse-search-box&amp;lang=en"></script> </li> </ul> </div><!--/.nav-collapse --> </div> </div> </div> <script type="text/javascript" src="/static/js/bootstrap.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js"></script> Is there anything wrong with my source code links or anything additional that I need to do to make it work?

  • How to send web browser a loading page, then some time later a results page

    - by Kurt W. Leucht
    I've wasted at least a half day of my company's time searching the Internet for an answer and I'm getting wrapped around the axle here. I can't figure out the difference between all the different technology choices (long polling, ajax streaming, comet, XMPP, etc.) and I can't get a simple hello world example working on my PC. I am running Apache 2.2 and ActivePerl 5.10.0. JavaScript is completely acceptable for this solution. All I want to do is write a simple Perl CGI script that when accessed, it immediately returns some HTML that tells the user to wait or maybe sends an animated GIF. Then without any user intervention (no mouse clicks or anything) I want the CGI script to at some time later replace the wait message or the animated GIF with the actual results from their query. I know this is simple stuff and websites do it all the time using JavaScript, but I can't find a single working example that I can cut and paste onto my machine that will work in Perl. Here is my simple Hello World example that I've compiled from various Internet sources, but it doesn't seem to work. When I refresh this Perl CGI script in my web browser it prints nothing for 5 seconds, then it prints the PLEASE BE PATIENT web page, but not the results web page. So the Ajax XMLHttpRequest stuff obviously isn't working right. What am I doing wrong? #!C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe use CGI; use CGI::Carp qw/fatalsToBrowser warningsToBrowser/; sub Create_HTML { my $html = <<EOHTML; <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="expires" content="-1" /> <script type="text/javascript" > var xmlhttp=false; /*@cc_on @*/ /*@if (@_jscript_version >= 5) // JScript gives us Conditional compilation, we can cope with old IE versions. // and security blocked creation of the objects. try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (E) { xmlhttp = false; } } @end @*/ if (!xmlhttp && typeof XMLHttpRequest!='undefined') { try { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=false; } } if (!xmlhttp && window.createRequest) { try { xmlhttp = window.createRequest(); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=false; } } </script> <title>Ajax Streaming Connection Demo</title> </head> <body> Some header text. <p> <div id="response">PLEASE BE PATIENT</div> <p> Some footer text. </body> </html> EOHTML return $html; } my $cgi = new CGI; print $cgi->header; print Create_HTML(); sleep(5); print "<script type=\"text/javascript\">\n"; print "\$('response').innerHTML = 'Here are your results!';\n"; print "</script>\n";

By default, 3 blocks(Content 0,Content 1,Content 2) are coming. When is clicked then (Content 1,Content 2,Content 3) will come. For this, I hide content 0 block. But layout will disturb on << click. I know this is wrong way. I should set left position instead of hiding content but it is empty I tried to set left position but no luck. Let me know How the block can be moved one by one using javascript and what is the best approach to do this?

  • How can I determine/use $(this) in js callback script

    - by Rabbott
    I am using Rails and jQuery, making an ajax call initiated by clicking a link. I setup my application.js file to look like the one proposed here and it works great. The problem I'm having is how can I use $(this) in my say.. update.js.erb file to represent the link I clicked? I don't want to have to assign an ID to every one, then recompile that id in the callback script.. EDIT To give a simple example of something similar to what I'm trying to do (and much easier to explain): If a user clicks on a link, that deletes that element from a list, the controller would handle the callback, and the callback (which is in question here) would delete the element I clicked on, so in the callback delete.js.erb would just say $(this).fadeOut(); This is why I want to use $(this) so that I dont have to assign an ID to every element (which would be the end of the world, just more verbose markup) application.js jQuery.ajaxSetup({ 'beforeSend': function(xhr) {xhr.setRequestHeader("Accept", "text/javascript,application/javascript,text/html")} }) function _ajax_request(url, data, callback, type, method) { if (jQuery.isFunction(data)) { callback = data; data = {}; } return jQuery.ajax({ type: method, url: url, data: data, success: callback, dataType: type }); } jQuery.extend({ put: function(url, data, callback, type) { return _ajax_request(url, data, callback, type, 'PUT'); }, delete_: function(url, data, callback, type) { return _ajax_request(url, data, callback, type, 'DELETE'); } }); jQuery.fn.submitWithAjax = function() { this.unbind('submit', false); this.submit(function() { $.post(this.action, $(this).serialize(), null, "script"); return false; }) return this; }; // Send data via get if <acronym title="JavaScript">JS</acronym> enabled jQuery.fn.getWithAjax = function() { this.unbind('click', false); this.click(function() { $.get($(this).attr("href"), $(this).serialize(), null, "script"); return false; }) return this; }; // Send data via Post if <acronym title="JavaScript">JS</acronym> enabled jQuery.fn.postWithAjax = function() { this.unbind('click', false); this.click(function() { $.post($(this).attr("href"), $(this).serialize(), null, "script"); return false; }) return this; }; jQuery.fn.putWithAjax = function() { this.unbind('click', false); this.click(function() { $.put($(this).attr("href"), $(this).serialize(), null, "script"); return false; }) return this; }; jQuery.fn.deleteWithAjax = function() { this.removeAttr('onclick'); this.unbind('click', false); this.click(function() { $.delete_($(this).attr("href"), $(this).serialize(), null, "script"); return false; }) return this; }; // This will "ajaxify" the links function ajaxLinks(){ $('.ajaxForm').submitWithAjax(); $('a.get').getWithAjax(); $('a.post').postWithAjax(); $('a.put').putWithAjax(); $('a.delete').deleteWithAjax(); } show.html.erb <%= link_to 'Link Title', article_path(a, :sentiment => Article::Sentiment['Neutral']), :class => 'put' %> The combination of the two things will call update.js.erb in rails, the code in that file is used as the callback of the ajax ($.put in this case) update.js.erb // user feedback $("#notice").html('<%= flash[:notice] %>'); // update the background color $(this OR e.target).attr("color", "red");

    <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <title> Javascript - stuff </title> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function GetCountsAll( Wordcount, Sentancecount, Clausecount, Charactercount ) { var TextString = document.getElementById("Text").innerHTML; var Wordcount = 0; var Sentancecount = 0; var Clausecount = 0; var Charactercount = 0; // For loop that runs through all characters incrementing the variable(s) value each iteration for (i=0; i < TextString.length; i++); if (TextString.charAt(i) == " " = true) Wordcount++; return Wordcount; if (TextString.charAt(i) = "." = true) Sentancecount++; Clausecount++; return Sentancecount; if (TextString.charAt(i) = ";" = true) Clausecount++; return Clausecount; } --> </script> </head> <body> <div id="Text"> It is important to remember that XHTML is a markup language; it is not a programming language. The language only describes the placement and visual appearance of elements arranged on a page; it does not permit users to manipulate these elements to change their placement or appearance, or to perform any "processing" on the text or graphics to change their content in response to user needs. For many Web pages this lack of processing capability is not a great drawback; the pages are simply displays of static, unchanging, information for which no manipulation by the user is required. Still, there are cases where the ability to respond to user actions and the availability of processing methods can be a great asset. This is where JavaScript enters the picture. </div> <input type = "button" value = "Get Counts" class = "btnstyle" onclick = "GetCountsAll()"/> <br/> <span id= "Charactercount"> </span> Characters <br/> <span id= "Wordcount"> </span> Words <br/> <span id= "Sentancecount"> </span> Sentences <br/> <span id= "ClauseCount"> </span> Clauses <br/> </body> </html> I am a student and still learning JavaScript, so excuse any horrible mistakes. The script is meant to calculate the number of characters, words, sentences, and clauses in the passage. It's, plainly put, just not working. I have tried a multitude of things to get it to work for me and have gotten a plethora of different errors but no matter what I can NOT get this to work. Please help! (btw i know i misspelled sentence)

  • How to avoid double divide in loop?

    Thank you for your help. My code looks like: var CatItems = ""; for(var x=0; x < data.PRODUCTS.length; x++) { if (x % 3 === 0) CatItems += '<li class="jcarousel-item jcarousel-item-horizontal jcarousel-item-'+[x]+' jcarousel-item-'+[x]+'-horizontal jcarousel-item-placeholder jcarousel-item-placeholder-horizontal">'; It divide "x" inside the loop. For example in JS: <li class="jcarousel-item jcarousel-item-horizontal jcarousel-item-'+[x]+' jcarousel-item-'+[x]+'-horizontal jcarousel-item-placeholder jcarousel-item-placeholder-horizontal"> And HTML out is: <li class="jcarousel-item jcarousel-item-horizontal jcarousel-item-0 jcarousel-item-0-horizontal jcarousel-item-placeholder jcarousel-item-placeholder-horizontal"></li> then <li class="jcarousel-item jcarousel-item-horizontal jcarousel-item-3 jcarousel-item-3-horizontal jcarousel-item-placeholder jcarousel-item-placeholder-horizontal"></li> then <li class="jcarousel-item jcarousel-item-horizontal jcarousel-item-6 jcarousel-item-6-horizontal jcarousel-item-placeholder jcarousel-item-placeholder-horizontal"></li> etc... What I need is that count goes as 0-1-2-3-4-5-etc, but with divide it goes 0-3-6-etc and jCarousel insert blank li's 1-2, 4-5, 7-8. How I can avoid "x" divide inside the loop? Tnak you!

  • In JSF How can I understand of multi checkboxes whether all of them is checked or not?

    - by Bariscan
    As you understand from the title above, I have a datatable and checkboxes in each row. I want to enable a button when at least one checkbox is selected, and disable it when there is no selected checkboxes (I mean all of them is unselected). I could achieve this as like if one of the checkboxes is selected, the button becomes enable. However, the reversable case I have to do is when the checkboxes is being unselected, when the last selected checbox becomes unselected, the button immediately must become disabled... BTW, I must do it without using a setter method nor a backing bean. Can I perform it by using jquery or a jsfunction, richfaces, etc? As a result, I want to learn how I can disable a button at the moment when all of the checkboxes are unselected? In order to clarify the case, here is my code below; <h:selectBooleanCheckbox id="selectionCheck" onclick="document.getElementById('form1:button1').disabled=false" value="#{_apiV2Product.selectValue}" > </h:selectBooleanCheckbox> Any help would be appreciated, Many thanks, Baris

  • OnChange not firing in IE11

    - by bulletproof
    The date picker we use is created in a javascript library. It has a dropdown for the month and year and when these change it fires an onChange event to run a function that refreshes the dates displayed. Below is the function that creates the calendar. function makeCalendar(intWhatMonth,intWhatYear,bViewOnly) { if (bViewOnly) {intWhatMonth-=1;} var strOutput = ''; var intStartMonth=intWhatMonth; var intStartYear=intWhatYear; var intLoop; var strTemp=''; var strDateColWidth; dteCur.setMonth(intWhatMonth); dteCur.setFullYear(intWhatYear); dteCur.setDate(dteToday.getDate()); dteCur.setHours(0);dteCur.setMinutes(0);dteCur.setSeconds(0);dteCur.setMilliseconds(0); if (!(bViewOnly)) { strTemp='<form name="spiffyCal">'; } // special case for form not to be inside table in Netscape 6 if (scNN6) { strOutput += strTemp +'<table width="210" border="3" class="cal-Table" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr>'; } else { strOutput += '<table width="210" border="3" class="cal-Table" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">'+strTemp+'<tr>'; } if (!(bViewOnly)) { strOutput += '<td class="cal-HeadCell" align="center" width="100%"><a href="javascript:'+this.varName+'.clearDay();"><img name="calbtn1" src="'+strDefBtnImgPath+'btn_del_small.gif" border="0" width="12" height="10"></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="javascript:'+this.varName+'.scrollMonth(-1);" class="cal-DayLink">&lt;</a>&nbsp;<SELECT class="cal-ComboBox" id="cboMonth" NAME="cboMonth" onChange="'+this.varName+'.changeMonth();">'; for (intLoop=0; intLoop<12; intLoop++) { if (intLoop == intWhatMonth) strOutput += '<OPTION VALUE="' + intLoop + '" SELECTED>' + msNames[intLoop] + '<\/OPTION>'; else strOutput += '<OPTION VALUE="' + intLoop + '">' + msNames[intLoop] + '<\/OPTION>'; } strOutput += '<\/SELECT><SELECT class="cal-ComboBox" id="cboYear" NAME="cboYear" onChange="'+this.varName+'.changeYear();">'; for (intLoop=this.minYearChoice; intLoop<this.maxYearChoice; intLoop++) { if (intLoop == intWhatYear) strOutput += '<OPTION VALUE="' + intLoop + '" SELECTED>' + intLoop + '<\/OPTION>'; else strOutput += '<OPTION VALUE="' + intLoop + '">' + intLoop + '<\/OPTION>'; } strOutput += '<\/SELECT>&nbsp;<a href="javascript:'+this.varName+'.scrollMonth(1);" class="cal-DayLink">&gt;</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="javascript:'+this.varName+'.hide();"><img name="calbtn2" src="'+strDefBtnImgPath+'btn_close_small.gif" border="0" width="12" height="10"></a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td width="100%" align="center">'; } else { strOutput += '<td class="cal-HeadCell" align="center" width="100%">'+msNames[intWhatMonth]+'-'+intWhatYear+'<\/td><\/tr><tr><td width="100%" align="center">'; } firstDay = new Date(intWhatYear,intWhatMonth,1); startDay = firstDay.getDay(); if (((intWhatYear % 4 == 0) && (intWhatYear % 100 != 0)) || (intWhatYear % 400 == 0)) msDays[1] = 29; else msDays[1] = 28; strOutput += '<table width="210" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2" border="1"><tr>'; for (intLoop=0; intLoop<7; intLoop++) { if (intLoop==0 || intLoop==6) { strDateColWidth="15%" } else { strDateColWidth="14%" } strOutput += '<td class="cal-HeadCell" width="' + strDateColWidth + '" align="center" valign="middle">'+ msDOW[intLoop] +'<\/td>'; } strOutput += '<\/tr><tr>'; var intColumn = 0; var intLastMonth = intWhatMonth - 1; var intLastYear = intWhatYear; if (intLastMonth == -1) { intLastMonth = 11; intLastYear=intLastYear-1;} for (intLoop=0; intLoop<startDay; intLoop++, intColumn++) { strOutput += this.getDayLink(true,(msDays[intLastMonth]-startDay+intLoop+1),intLastMonth,intLastYear,bViewOnly); } for (intLoop=1; intLoop<=msDays[intWhatMonth]; intLoop++, intColumn++) { strOutput += this.getDayLink(false,intLoop,intWhatMonth,intWhatYear,bViewOnly); if (intColumn == 6) { strOutput += '<\/tr><tr>'; intColumn = -1; } } var intNextMonth = intWhatMonth+1; var intNextYear = intWhatYear; if (intNextMonth==12) { intNextMonth=0; intNextYear=intNextYear+1;} if (intColumn > 0) { for (intLoop=1; intColumn<7; intLoop++, intColumn++) { strOutput += this.getDayLink(true,intLoop,intNextMonth,intNextYear,bViewOnly); } strOutput += '<\/tr><\/table><\/td><\/tr>'; } else { strOutput = strOutput.substr(0,strOutput.length-4); // remove the <tr> from the end if there's no last row strOutput += '<\/table><\/td><\/tr>'; } if (scNN6) { strOutput += '<\/table><\/form>'; } else { strOutput += '<\/form><\/table>'; } dteCur.setDate(1); dteCur.setHours(0);dteCur.setMinutes(0);dteCur.setSeconds(0);dteCur.setMilliseconds(0); dteCur.setMonth(intStartMonth); dteCur.setFullYear(intStartYear); return strOutput; } this.makeCalendar=makeCalendar; We have recently upgraded to IE11 and it is not firing this event anymore. I've tested this in an earlier version of IE and also in Chrome and it works as expected. The functions called from the anchor tags are working as expected. Creating a dropdown with an onChange event in html works in IE11. Has anyone come across anything like this in IE11? I have checked the console and it is showing no errors.

  • ASP.Net IE6 disable button

    - by RemotecUk
    Hi, I have the following code running as part of my OnClientclick attribute on my custom ASP.Net button.... function clickOnce(btnSubmit) { if ( typeof( Page_ClientValidate ) == 'function' ) { if ( ! Page_ClientValidate() ) { return false; } } btnSubmit.disabled = true; } There is a validator on the page. If a given text box is empty then the validator activates no problem. If a given text box is populated then the button disables but a post back does not occur. The rendered markup looks like this... <input type="submit" name="TestButton" value="Test Button" onclick="clickOnce(this);WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions(&quot;TestButton&quot;, &quot;&quot;, true, &quot;&quot;, &quot;&quot;, false, false))" id="TestButton" class="euva-button-decorated" /> This works nicely in Firefox but not in IE6. Its almost like after the button has been disabled it simply does not run the post back javascript. Any ideas welcomed. EDIT: I have tried returning true from the function as well.

  • Using Flot's Bar Graph in an Android WebView with Highlighting

    - by Nicholi
    The issue is unhighlighting bars which are no longer selected in a bar graph plotted by flot in a WebView on Android. Got no other issues drawing the actual graphs (which look beautiful for something so simple btw). I am not extremely knowledgeable in terms of javascript and web design/development but it seems little should have been needed, if it would just work!! :( I believe I'm following the Flot API correctly, if not someone please scream and yell at me. It seems to work just fine in a non-mobile browser at least. Hoping someone has done this before, but if not I've got the minimal necessary code to poke at your droids if inquiring minds would like to test. I've tested on two Nexus Ones (both 2.2.1), and have tried targeting with Andriod 1.5 and 2.2 SDKs (my intention is to target 1.5 if possible). I've been attempting to hack away at this for far too long on my own now. What happens: 1. Graph loads fine with bars. All bars unhighlighted. 2. Select a bar in graph, gets highlighted fine (and a tooltip is placed). 3. Select a different bar in graph, old bar is unhighlighted, old tooltip removed, new bar highlighted and tooltip placed (still no problems). 4. Click in the vast darkness of the graph which should then unhighlight the last bar... but it doesn't. I've tried disabling flot's autohighlight and manually doing it as well to no avail. Looking into flot itself and only getting down to drawOverlay() where the issue seems to begin... An even more disturbing bug(?) appears if the fill bar option is enabled in the graph, but I'd rather just forget about that for now. Also grabbed the latest version of flot from their svn (r290), but made no different from last public release (v0.6). As a complete guess I'm thinking it's an issue with WebKit's javascript implementation (or something specific to Nexus Ones, which wouldn't be so bad), but if there is any ugly hack to just get it to work I'm all ears. I've thrown the graph data directly into the html/js, rather than deal with showing all the code involved in the Java-javascript handler and callbacks. The simple html placed in 'assets/flot/test/' with jquery.js and jquery.flot.js: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <script src="jquery.js"></script> <script src="jquery.flot.js"></script> <script id="source" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var lastItem = null; var plot = null; $(document).ready(function () { //window.testhandler.loadGraph(); // bind plotclick here $("#graphHolder").bind("plotclick", function (event, pos, item) { if (item) { var lastPoint = null; if (lastItem != null) lastPoint = lastItem.datapoint; if (!pointEquals(lastPoint, item.datapoint)) { //if (lastItem != null) // plot.unhighlight(lastItem.series, lastItem.datapoint); lastItem = item; $("#tooltip").remove(); //plot.highlight(item.series, item.datapoint); showTooltip(item.pageX, item.pageY, item.datapoint[1]); } } else if (lastItem != null) { plot.unhighlight(lastItem.series, lastItem.datapoint); // not unhighlighting anything //plot.unhighlight(); // doesn't work either, supposed to unhighlight everything lastItem = null; $("#tooltip").remove(); } }); GotGraph(); }); /** * Show a tooltip above bar in graph * @param {int} x Left coordinate of div * @param {int} y Top coordinate of div * @param {String} contents text to place in div */ function showTooltip(x, y, contents) { $('<div id="tooltip">' + contents + '</div>').css( { position: 'absolute', display: 'none', top: y, left: x, border: '1px solid #fdd', padding: '2px', 'background-color': '#fee', opacity: 0.80 }).appendTo("body").fadeIn(200); } /** * Draw the graph. • How can I stop the browser viewport moving to the top of the page when the user clicks on a jQueryUI radio button?

    - by ben
    I have got some radio buttons setup like this: <div id="typeRadios"> <input id="note_notetype_note1" name="note[notetype]" type="radio" value="note1" /><label for="note_notetype_note1">note1</label> <input id="note_notetype_note2" name="note[notetype]" type="radio" value="note2" /><label for="note_notetype_note2">note2</label> </div> That I turn into jQueryUI buttons like this: $("#typeRadios").buttonset(); This is the resulting HTML: <input type="radio" value="note1" name="note[notetype]" id="note_notetype_note1" class="ui-helper-hidden-accessible"> <label for="note_notetype_note1" aria-pressed="false" class="ui-button ui-widget ui-state-default ui-button-text-only ui-corner-left" role="button" aria-disabled="false"><span class="ui-button-text">note1</span></label> <input type="radio" value="note2" name="note[notetype]" id="note_notetype_note2" class="ui-helper-hidden-accessible"> <label for="note_notetype_note2" aria-pressed="false" class="ui-button ui-widget ui-state-default ui-button-text-only ui-corner-left" role="button" aria-disabled="false"><span class="ui-button-text">note2</span></label> The buttons work, but whenever I click one, the browser view-port gets returned to the top of the page, the same way it happens when you click on a <a href="#">link</a> link.   • Slow Response in checkbox using JQuery

    - by Dean
    Hi to all. I'm trying to optimize a website. The flow is i tried to query a certain table and all of its data entry in a page(w/ toolbars), work fine. When i tried to edit the page the problem is when i click the checkbox button i have to wait 2-5sec just by clicking it. I limit the viewing of entry to 5 only but the response on checkbox doesn't change. The tables have 100 entries in them. function checkAccess(celDiv,id) { var celValue = $(celDiv).html(); if (celValue==1) $(celDiv).html("<input type='checkbox' value='"+$(celDiv).html()+"' checked disabled>") else $(celDiv).html("<input type='checkbox' value='"+$(celDiv).html()+"' disabled>") $(celDiv).click ( function() { $('input',this).each( function(){ tr_idx = $('#detFlex1 tbody tr').index($(this).parent().parent().parent()); td_idx = $('#detFlex1 tbody tr:eq('+tr_idx+') td').index($(this).parent().parent()); td_last = 13; for(var td=td_idx+1; td<=td_last;td++) { if ($(this).attr('checked') == true) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td_idx] = 1;//index[1] = Full Access if (td_idx==3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 1; } df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[2] = 1; if (td_idx > 3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[2] = 1; } } else { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td_idx] = 0;//index[0] = With Access if (td_idx==2) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 0; } else if (td_idx==3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 0; } if (td_idx > 3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[3] = 0; } } } $('#detFlex1').flexAddData(df[0]); $('.toolbar a[title=Edit Item]').trigger('click'); }); } ); } I've thought that the problem is this above code. Could anyone help me simplify this code.?

  • IE8 and below <input type="image"> value work around

    - by kielie
    Hi guys, I have a slight problem, I am trying to capture the input of two buttons, one yes, one no, into a database but for some reason the database doesn't always show the value of the button clicked, it just shows up blank. <form action="refer.php" method="post" id="formID" > <div class="prompt_container" style="float: left;"> <span class="prompt_item"><input type="image" src="images/yes.jpg" alt="submit" value="yes" onclick="this.disabled=true,this.form.submit();" /></span> <input type="hidden" name="refer" value="yes"> </div> </form> <form action="thank_you.php" method="post" id="formID" > <div class="prompt_container" style="float: right;"> <span class="prompt_item"><input type="image" src="images/no.jpg" alt="submit" value="no" onclick="this.disabled=true,this.form.submit();" /></span> <input type="hidden" name="refer" value="no" > </div> </form> Apparently anything lower than IE8 will ignore the value attribute of all form inputs. How could I get this to work properly in all browsers? jQuery or Javascript maybe?
