• Asp.net MVC and MOSS 2010 integration

  Just a sidenote: I'm not sure whether I should post this to serverfault as well, because some MOSS admin may have some info for me as well? A bit of explanation first (without Asp.net MVC) Is it possible to integrate the two? Is it possible to write an application that would share at least credential information with MOSS? I have to write a MOSS application that has to do with these technologies: MOSS 2010 Personal client certificates authentication (most probably on USB keys) Active Directory Federation Services Separate SQL DB that would serve application specific data (separate as not being part of MOSS DB) How should it work? Users should authenticate using personal certificates into MOSS 2010 There would be a certain part of MOSS that would be related to my custom application This application should only authorize certain users via AD FS - I guess these users should have a certain security claim attached to them This application should manage users (that have access to this app) with additional (app specific) security claims related to this application (as additional application level authorization rights for individual application parts) This application should use custom SQL 2008 DB heavily with its own data This application should have the possibility to integrate with external systems as well (Exchange for instance to inject calendar entries, ERP systems etc) This application should be able to export its data (from its DB) to files. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice if the app could add these files to MOSS and attach authorization info to them so only users with sufficient rights would be able to view/open these files. Why Asp.net MVC then? I'm very well versed in Asp.net MVC (also with the latest version) and I haven't done anything on Sharepoint since version 2003 (which doesn't do me no good or prepare me for the latest version in any way shape or form). This project will most probably be a death march project so I would rather write my application as a UI rich Asp.net MVC application and somehow integrate it into MOSS. But not only via a link, because I would like to at least share credentials, so users wouldn't need to re-login when accessing my app. Using Asp.net MVC I would at least have the possibility to finish on time or be less death marching. Is this at all possible? Questions Is it possible to integrate Asp.net MVC into MOSS as described above? If integration is not possible, would it be possible to create a completely MOSS based application that would work as described? Which parts of MOSS 2010 should I use to accomplish what I need?

• Can I retain a Google apps session token permanently for a specific user who logs into my google app

  Hi guys, is it possible to retain upon authorization a single session token for a user who signs into my gogle application. CUrrently my application seems to every now and then require the user to authenticate into google apps. I think it has to do with session dying out or so. • How do I add a custom view to iPhone app's UI?

  I'm diving into iPad development and I'm still learning how everything works together. I understand how to add standard view (i.e. buttons, tableviews, datepicker, etc.) to my UI using both Xcode and Interface Builder, but now I'm trying to add a custom calendar control (TapkuLibrary) to the left window in my UISplitView application. My question is, if I have a custom view (in this case, the TKCalendarMonthView), how do I programmatically add it to one of the views in my UI (in this case, the RootViewController)? This works well for sending out updates to the meeting request as well. The only problem that I am having is that I do not know the proper format for sending out a cancellation. I've attempted to examine some meeting request cancellations in text editors and can't seem to pinpoint the difference in the format between cancelling/creating. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

• Why is cell phone software still so primitive?

  I don't do mobile development, but it strikes me as odd that features like this aren't available by default on most phones: full text search: searches all address book contents, messages, anything else being a plus better call management: e.g. a rotating audio call log, meaning you always have the last N calls recorded for your listening pleasure later (your little girl just said her first "da-da" while you were on a business trip, you had a telephone job interview, you received complex instructions to do something etc.) bluetooth remote control (like e.g. anyRemote, but available by default on a bluetooth phone) no multitasking capabilities worth mentioning and in general no e.g. weekly software updates, making the phone much more usable (even if it had to be done over USB, rather than over the network). I'm sure I was dumbfounded by the lack or design of other features as well, but they don't come to mind right now. To clarify, I'm not talking about smartphones here: my plain, 2-year old phone has a CPU an order of magnitude faster than my first PC, about as much storage space and it's ridiculous how bad (slow, unwieldy) the software is and it's not one phone or one manufacturer. What keeps the (to me) obvious software functionality vacuum on a capable hardware platform from being filled up? Edit: I believe a clarification on the multitasking point might be beneficial. I'll use my phone as an example, although the point is much more general. The phone can multitask and in fact does: you can listen to music and do something else at the same time. On the other hand, the way the software has been designed makes multitasking next to useless. (Ditto with the external touch screen: it can take touch commands, but only one application makes use of it, and only with 3 commands.) To take the multitasking example to the extreme, if I plug my phone into my laptop and it registers as an external disk, it doesn't allow any kind of operation: messages, calling, calendar, everything out of reach, although I can receive a call. No "battery life" issue there: it's charging while connected. BTW, another example of design below the current state of the art: I don't see a phone on the horizon which will remember where in an audio or video file you were when you stopped listening/watching it last time (podcasts are a good use case). Simplistic rewind/fast forward functionality only aggravates the problem.

This can either be done in a SQL Stored Procedure, or it can be incorporated into the .Net app that's generating this data, so the solution doesn't really need to be "one big SQL script", but can be :) (SQL-2005)

• Generate a list of file names based on month and year arithmetic

  How can I list the numbers 01 to 12 (one for each of the 12 months) in such a way so that the current month always comes last where the oldest one is first. In other words, if the number is grater than the current month, it's from the previous year. e.g. 02 is Feb, 2011 (the current month right now), 03 is March, 2010 and 09 is Sep, 2010 but 01 is Jan, 2011. In this case, I'd like to have [09, 03, 01, 02]. • Building a QueryExpression where name field is either A or B

  I'm trying to build a Dynamics CRM 4 query so that I can get calendar events that are named either "Event A" or "Event B". A QueryByAttribute doesn't seem to do the job as I cannot specify a condition where the field called "event_name" = "Event A" of "event_name" = "Event B". When using the QueryExpression, I've found the FilterExpression applies to the Referencing Entity. I don't know if the FilterExpression can be used on the Referenced Entity at all. The example below is something like what I want to achieve, though this would return an empty result set as it will go looking in the entity called "my_event_response" for a "name" attribute. It's starting to look like I will need to run several queries to get this but this is less efficient than if I can submit it all at once.   I am transforming an XML document. There is an attribute @prettydate that is a string similar to "Friday, May 7, 2010". I want to split that string and add links to the month and the year. I am using the exslt:strings module and I can add any other necessary EXSLT module.   Hi all I am trying to add two jquery plugins files to my application. When a user triggers my ajax event, the server will return text with a form button. The plugins (a jquery calendar) will work when the user clicks the form button inside the returned text . • Activity gets killed while executing the camera intent

  In my app I call the system camera to take a picture, and then handle the result in onActivityResult. You know, the usual. It used to work, but now my calling activity gets killed while I'm taking the picture. Specifically, onDestroy() is called on my activity right after I press the camera shutter. The photo does get taken & saved (I've checked that the file gets written on the SD card). After I accept the photo, instead of returning to the calling activity and invoking onActivityResult, the previous activity in the activity stack gets called. I see no exceptions in the logcat. My custom exception handler doesn't get called. If it matters, my app also includes a service that listens to GPS updates, but I unregister all the receivers in onPause(). • JQuery Datepicker Date highlight Issue

  I have an in-line date picker in which I want to highlight some dates based on array of strings from the server side. I found out the on load of the page with the datepicker, events the matches in the current month will not be highlighted. when I click the next month button the events on the next moth will be highlighted. What I discovered that i the matching only get highlighted when I click to the next month and not when I click back to the previous month.   Im trying to achieve current page highlights on wordpress similar to this site Alex Soth. I'm very nearly there with my css. At present i have current page highlights on pages, ie. home,calendar, projects. However when it come to current page highlights on child pages i have a problem. the indented child page list appears on hover when selecting a child page, but after page selection the menu reverts back to the standard pages menu with no visible child menus? unlike the link to the Alex Soth site where the extended menu stays and current page is highlighted I know that the answer will be a simple piece of css involving current_page_item and possible position:relative to obtain the menu staying visible after selection. But i can for the life of me work it out. • Finding open contiguous blocks of time for every day of a month, fast

  I am working on a booking availability system for a group of several venues, and am having a hard time generating the availability of time blocks for days in a given month. This is happening server-side in PHP, but the concept itself is language agnostic -- I could be doing this in JS or anything else. Given a venue_id, month, and year (6/2012 for example), I have a list of all events occurring in that range at that venue, represented as unix timestamps start and end. This data comes from the database. I need to establish what, if any, contiguous block of time of a minimum length (different per venue) exist on each day. For example, on 6/1 I have an event between 2:00pm and 7:00pm. The minimum time is 5 hours, so there's a block open there from 9am - 2pm and another between 7pm and 12pm. This would continue for the 2nd, 3rd, etc... every day of June. Some (most) of the days have nothing happening at all, some have 1 - 3 events. The solution I came up with works, but it also takes waaaay too long to generate the data. Basically, I loop every day of the month and create an array of timestamps for each 15 minutes of that day. Then, I loop the time spans of events from that day by 15 minutes, marking any "taken" timeslot as false. Remaining, I have an array that contains timestamp of free time vs. taken time: //one day's array after processing through loops (not real timestamps) array( 12345678=>12345678, // <--- avail 12345878=>12345878, 12346078=>12346078, 12346278=>false, // <--- not avail 12346478=>false, 12346678=>false, 12346878=>false, 12347078=>12347078, // <--- avail 12347278=>12347278 ) Now I would need to loop THIS array to find continuous time blocks, then check to see if they are long enough (each venue has a minimum), and if so then establish the descriptive text for their start and end (i.e. 9am - 2pm). WHEW! By the time all this looping is done, the user has grown bored and wandered off to Youtube to watch videos of puppies; it takes ages to so examine 30 or so days. Is there a faster way to solve this issue? To summarize the problem, given time ranges t1 and t2 on day d, how can I determine the remaining time left in d that is longer than the minimum time block m. This data is assembled on demand via AJAX as the user moves between calendar months. Results are cached per-page-load, so if the user goes to July a second time, the data that was generated the first time would be reused. Any other details that would help, let me know. • Boxy Submit Form

  I am using the boxy jQuery plugin in my page to display a form on a clickEvent for the fullCalendar plugin. It is working all right , the only problem I have is that the form in boxy brings up the confirmation dialog the first time the dialog is opened and when the user clicks "Ok" it submits the form a second time which generates 2 events on my calendar and 2 entries in my database. • Customs toString in Java not giving desired output and throwing error

  I am writing a program in Java to accept and validate dates according to the Gregorian Calendar. My public boolean setDate(String aDate) function for an incorrect entry is suppose to change the boolean goodDate variable to false. That variable is suppose tell the toString function, when called, to output "Invalid Entry" but it does not. My public boolean setDate(int d, int m, int y) function works fine though. I've only included the problem parts as its a long piece of code. • Xenserver 5.6 SR_BACKEND_FAILURE_47 no such volume group, but it is there

  I've looked everywhere (Google, here, a bunch of other sites), and while I have found people with similar problems, I couldn't find a single one with a solution to this. Last night our xenserver 5.6 box corrupted the /var/xapi/state.db, and I couldn't fix the xml, no matter what I did. After a good hour fiddling with the file, I figured it would be faster to just reinstall. The server had one 2tb hard drive running Xen and its VMs, and since Xen's install said it would erase the hard drive it was installed on, I plugged a new harddrive and installed Xen on it, without selecting any hard drives for storage. I Figured I could make it happen after install, using the partition on the old harddrive with all my VMs on it. So, now I'm kinda lost about what to do, I'm not used to Xen and most sites I've been finding are really unhelpful. I hope someone can guide me in the right way to fix this. I cant lose those VMs (got backups, but from inside the guests, not the VMs themselves).

• Mounting NAS share: Bad Address

  I've faced to the problem that can't solve. Hope you can help me with it. I have a storage QNAP TS-459U, with it's own Linux, and 'massive1' folder shared, which I need to mount to my Debian server. They are connected by regular patch cord. Debian server has two network interfaces - eth0 and eth1. eth0 is for Internet, eth1 is for QNAP. So, I'm saying this: mount -t cifs //169.254.100.100/massive1/ /mnt/storage -o user=admin , where 169.254.100.100 is an IP of QNAP's interface. The result I get (after entering password): mount error(14): Bad address Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) Tried: mount.cifs, smbmount, with '/' at the end of the network share and without it, and many other variations of that command. And always its: mount error(14): Bad address Funny thing is when I was in Data Center, I had connected my netbook to QNAP by the same scheme (with Fedora 16 on it), and it connected without any problems, I could read/write files on the QNAP's NAS share! So I'm really stuck with the Debian. I can't undrestand where's the difference with Fedora, making this error. Yeah, I've used Google. Couldn't find any useful info. Ping to the QNAP's IP is working, I can log into QNAP's Linux by ssh, telnet on 139's port is working. This is network interface configuration I use in Debian: IP: 169.254.100.1 Netmask: 255.255.0.0 The only diffence in connecting to Fedora and Debian is that in Fedora I've added gateway - 169.254.100.129, but ping to this IP is not working, so I think it's not necessary at all.
