    I issued an command on a local machine scp -r download/ [email protected] Then I checked at the remote foo.xxx.xxx.xxx and found under my home directory, there is nothing. Did scp transfer something? If yes, where are they? Thanks!

  • Make Apache server available on a LAN via custom ServerName

    Hi, is it possible to set up an Apache server on a machine which is part of a LAN, then allow machines on the LAN to access the server via a custom ServerName (instead of Localhost). I want to serve a simple website in an office space using a short ServerName (no ports etc if possible), but I want to make sure this is possible (after originally being certain it was!).   • Vagrant / puppet workflow

    I'm new to puppet and vagrant, but I'm developing my own Puppet manifests intended to set up a vagrant box. That is, the puppet manifest is in my Vagrant directory on the host machine, and vagrant is invoking puppet -- there is no puppet server. The thing is, my workflow is: while(not working as desired) { vagrant destroy amend manifest vagrant up } ... and this means quite a lot of waiting around. What's a better way to work?

    Hi, I want to enable file sharing between servers and clients, both linux. I don't want to rely on machine trust like in NFSv4 because client users will have root privileges. What are my options besides SMB (SAMBA)? Does OpenAFS support user level authentication & access? Using mounted WebDAV/ftp/sshfs seems silly for LAN.

    My office has multiple Windows 8 Machines and slow internet. Is there a place online I can download the 8.1 upgrade from home on my fast internet so I can do a network or usb install at the office? I don't want to have to download 3GB+ of updates on each and every machine through the Windows store over our slow internet connection. The Windows 8 PC's in question are OEM Windows 8 Home, upgraded to Windows 8 Pro via the online Pro pack upgrade.

  • Mac OS X kernel panic after TM restore

    I changed my HD in my MacBook Pro, and restored from Time Machine backup. Now I keep getting kernel panic error everytime I restart. I booted from the DVD and ran a few tests, noticed that HD and RAM are being detected, also did a repair on the disk through disk utility, still getting same error. Any suggestions?

However, if I send a request with the path of a HTML/image file explicitly the resource is accessible. Also, I do not get the "Create Virtual Directory" option in IIS. I only have the option to create a web site. What went wrong?

  • problems mounting an external IDE drive via USB in ubuntu

    I am having a problem connecting a specific IDE drive to my linux box. It's an old drive which I just want to get about 3 GB of files off of. INFO I am trying to connect a 200GB IDE Maxtor Drive, internally and externally... externally: I am using an self powered USB IDE external drive enclosure which I have used to connect various drives, under ubuntu and windows, in the past. The other posts stated it coudl be a problem I think i may have formatted the /dev/sdc partition instead of /dev/sdc1 partition when i originally formatted the drive. internally: I only have one machine left that has an internal IDE interface, and it's got XP on it. I plugged this drive internally into this machine with windows XP and used the ext2/ext3 drivers to mount this drive, but some files have question marks (?) in the file names which is messing up my copy process in windows. I can't delete the files under windows. Ubuntu Linux will not install on my only remaining machine that has IDE controller.   • Multiple nt52 entries in bootmgr

    I have a machine with Windows XP, Server 2003 R2, and Server 2008 R2. Right now, bootmgr has one entry for Server 2008 R2 and one entry for ntldr, which then leads to the ntldr boot.ini menu. Is it possible to add two different nt52 entries on two partitions so that I can access all three OSes from the bootmgr menu? Right now, Server 2008 and XP are in logical drives on an extended partition, but (I assume) I can image them onto basic partitions if necessary.

I then tried installing a 64bit sybase on it but the sybase installation fails the moment i launch ./setup with below error: Unhandled error...try running with is:debug system property. the install shield wizard fails to launch.. I tried replacing the JVM folder in sybase installation dump but it doesn't help. how do i use this is:debug property? has any one encountered such an error?

  • Launch remote NX sessions using metacity while local sessions use compiz?

    I'm using gnome with compiz (gtk-window-decorator) on Arch Linux for my desktop. I installed FreeNX from the repo, but when I connect remotely it does not render any window decorations. I can make the window decorations appear and function as normal by opening a command prompt and typing: metacity --replace I'm fine with using metacity for remote sessions, but I want gtk-window-decorator when using the machine locally. Is it possible to make it run metacity for FreeNX sessions and gtk-window-decorator for local sessions?

  • Port forwarding to a computer with two NICs

    I have a laptop which occasionally uses Ethernet and most of the time WiFi. Now I want to forward a port in the router so that it always points to my current IP. I'm likely to get different IPs from time to time and I can't really use a dedicated IP for the machine since the IPs are assigned by MAC address and the wireless card has a different MAC address than the Ethernet port. I'm using a NetGear CG3100 router.
