  • SSH connection via USB to iPhone

    Hi, I want to connect to the SSH server on my jailbreaked iPhone via the USB connection (because that connection is much faster than WLAN) from MacOSX. Right now I am using this: http://novis.jimdo.com/2009/10/18/ssh-relay-aka-iphone-tunnel-version-3/ However, this is really buggy and always breaks when I am transfering a lot of data. Does anyone know a better solution? Preferable one that is free.

  • Install Windows 7 from ISO image

    Hi, I have an ISO file of the Windows 7 DVD and I want to install it on my PC which currently only runs Linux. I don't have any DVD drive. I have some unpartitioned space on one disk where I want to install it in. When I am doing this for Linux, I usually just create the partitions from the running system, format them, mount them, copy files over, chroot into it, setup the stuff and I can boot into it (or I use some of the uncountable available scripts which do exactly that automatically). However, I have no idea how to do the same thing with Windows. So far, I tried with VMware, i.e. I gave it direct full access to the disk where I want to install it in, installed it there, then tried to boot natively into it. The Windows logo showed up but after maybe 3 seconds or so, it crashes. Safe mode also crashes. I already expected that this probably would exactly behave the way it does right now because I have heard that Windows is quite sensible about hardware changes (i.e. the VMware hardware and the real hardware). However, how can I fix it now that it works? Or I could also just delete it again and try just over. But how exactly? I also searched for ways to boot directly into an ISO file. There seem to be ways to do that via GRUB (and maybe some additional boot loader), although quite complicated. I already tried one method (GRUB: map ...iso (hdX)), however, that didn't worked. Also, even if it does work, I will get into trouble when I boot into the newly installed Windows and it requests for the DVD (because it does that at the first boot into the new system). Seems all quite complicated. Isn't there some easy way like I would do it for Linux? Or what would be the easiest way to get what I want?

  • FTP Access Denied when uploading to server

    Ok, here's the story. I have a server running FTP 'out there' I can connect to it using the admin account, browse files, download files. When I try to upload files, I get 550 Access Denied. I have tried through FileZilla and command line. I have windows firewall turned off (on my machine) I can UPLOAD files from another machine (using the same admin account) on our local network (that means, same public IP) what is the problem? I am running Windows 7, Build 7100 and the other machine on the network is running XP SP3 The thing that gets me though, is that this worked for the last probably 4 months, without a problem, I get back in the office after a weekend today and it won't work...

  • Share Firefox/Thnderbird data between W7 and Linux Mint 12 in dual boot computer

    I've just set up my laptop (where I had running only W7) with a dual boot to run Linux Mint 12 as well. I have a "Data" partition (apart from the required partitions for W7 and Linux) where I store pretty much everything that isn't software installations (music, videos, project files, etc). I seem to be able to access that NTFS partition totally fine from Mint (like I've always done with W7), which is cool because I can access all that stuff regardless of which OS I'm using. I would like to know if it's possible (and how) to go one step further and share programs data between the two OS. One example would be my Firefox and Thunderbird data. For example, in Firefox share my bookmarks (and if I could share history, autocomplete and all that stuff, that would be awesome). In thunderbird, be able to share my mail and configuration, seeing the same inbox, folders, message rules, etc... So if I receive/send an email from W7 and later switch to Mint, I can see that email as it had been received/sent from Mint, and vice versa. Is this even possible? Or am I asking for too much convenience? If it's possible, any clues on how to set it all up?

At the moment I am having a problem with some users having mixed case user names in active directory. Would it be possible to change all users with mixed case user names to be all lowercase instead? I'm using Windows Server 2003 Active Directory with 64 bit domain controller running on Windows 2000 mixed functionality.

  • Problem with SVN filename encoding on Mac OS X

    I have some filename with some Unicode character in it. All filenames on Mac OS X are UTF8 encoded. Also $LANG is set to en_US.UTF-8.     I've installed libevent on my server in the directory root/data/ and have i'm about to install memcached with ./configure –with-lib-event=/data/; make; make install However, after running a bit I get this error saying i'm pointing to the wrong directory for libevent. checking for libevent directory... configure: error: libevent is required. You can get it from http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/ If it's already installed, specify its path using --with-libevent=/dir/ make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. Any suggestions. I am not experience with cli so anything is help. Thanks!

    What is the easiest way to setup an PXE server (i.e. a DHCP server + TFTP server) on MacOSX? Is there maybe some easy-to-use tool which just comes with both servers builtin? I have done that in the past but I remember that it took me several hours of editing some config files of tftpd (I think) and different versions of dhcpd, many trials and errors until I got it working (mostly). Now I have a fresh MacOSX installation and I want to avoid any complicated setup.

    Hi All, Is it possible to emulate my customer production environment inside my AD domain by just creating the same domain inside my primary DNS server ? Can I created mycustomer.com DNS zone (STUB) just for the sake of listing few database servers and application servers and then for the other DNS records eg. MX, NS and the other refer to the REAL MX record entry so that my Exchange Server email flow is unaffected to mycustomer.com ? because if I just create A record in my current domain for some of the servers, the FQDN is not exactly what I want.   • How to install PyQt on Mac OS X 10.6

    I want to install PyQt. This seems kind of complicated to install on OS X. I haven't found any precompiled packages of it (are there any? I would really prefer those). So I downloaded PyQt. And SIP, because it depends on that. These files: http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/static/Downloads/PyQt4/PyQt-mac-gpl-4.7.3.tar.gz http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/static/Downloads/sip4/sip-4.10.2.tar.gz Did a python configure.py && make && sudo make install on SIP -- installed without any problems. Tried the same on PyQt -- and failed of course: /Library/Frameworks/QtCore.framework/Headers/qglobal.h:288:2: error: #error "You are building a 64-bit application, but using a 32-bit version of Qt. Check your build configuration." Ok, so I tried with python configure.py --use-arch=i386. Same error. Any idea?

    Hi All, I wonder if this is possible to extend or regrow the Linux hard disk partition from 8 GB to 20 GB without losing the existing data on the partition ? at the moment this Ubuntu Linux is deployed on top of VMware and I've just regrow the hard drive from 8 GB into 20 GB but can't see the effect immediately. can anyone suggest how to do this without losing the data ? and I found some strange error message when i do the fdisk -l ?

  • Multiple synonym dictionary matches in PostgreSQL full text searching

    I am trying to do full text searching in PostgreSQL 8.3. It worked splendidly, so I added in synonym matching (e.g. 'bob' == 'robert') using a synonym dictionary. That works great too. But I've noticed that it apparently only allows a word to have one synonym. That is, 'al' cannot be 'albert' and 'allen'. Is this correct? Is there any way to have multiple dictionary matches in a PostgreSQL synonym dictionary? For reference, here is my sample dictionary file: bob robert bobby robert al alan al albert al allen And the SQL that creates the full text search config: CREATE TEXT SEARCH DICTIONARY nickname (TEMPLATE = synonym, SYNONYMS = nickname); CREATE TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name (COPY = simple); ALTER TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name ALTER MAPPING FOR asciiword WITH nickname, simple; What am I doing wrong?     I run: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade , and the linux kernel seemed to be updated to 3.2.0-31-generic successfully. However, after I rebooted, I typed: uname -a , it showed : Linux Albert-PC 3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Does that means the kernel wasn't being updated? I didn't encounter any error or warning messages during the upgrade or dist-upgrade. Thanks for any help

And then if I go into the .RPT file, and change over the datasource to the training server, and try to open it again, it works fine. Why doesn't the code above overwrite the .RPT files datasource? How can I avoid having to open up each .RPT and change the datasource when migrating reports from server to server? Is there a setting in the .RPT file I'm missing or something?

    Normally I just redirect to a custom error page in on the Application_Error event, but I have a specific error for which I'd like to display an alert message while the user is still on the page which triggers the error. How can I make this happen? I'm open to a modalpopup or any other type of error message, I just want to ensure the user stays on the page where they encounter the error. Thank for any ideas.
