    I am using DBAN to erase HDD. DBAN is loaded from a CD and BIOS Boot order has been set to favour CD drive. On starting laptop, system boots from CD and DBAN interface can be seen. DBAN detects two storage devices, HDD and the SD Card. My HDD IS 320GB but DBAN says 298GB. It erases the SD card but when i try to erase HDD, it gives following error. DBAN finished with non-fatal errors. *ERROR /dev/sdb (process crash) *ERROR /dev/sda (process crash)

  • Ideas for scaling out database architecture

    We're looking to scale out our existing database architecture and need some advice on which way to go. We currently have 2 web servers behind a load balancer that both read & write to a single master database which replicates to a slave. Ideally, I'd like each of the webservers to point to their own master DB and have the data between the 2 synchronised but from what I've read, using any kind of master-master or ring-replication is discouraged. I'm looking for a general "what do other people do" kind of answer - database vendor isn't a concern at the moment but we'd like to stay with MySQL or convert to MSSQL.     I was using Hamachi (v1) and banned a couple of users for a week. During this time, Hamachi auto-updated to Hamachi2, and now I can't find the ban/un-ban function. Any idea where this is and how to un-ban a user? I tried re-installing the Hamachi (v1) client, but when I started it, it auto-updated to v2.

  • Firefox 3.6.3 on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - symbolic link to command line binary doesn't work?

    I have Firefox 10.6.3 installed on Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the DMG. I can run firefox from the terminal using /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin. However, if I create a symbolic link: sudo ln -s /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin /bin/firefox then it refuses to run, or at least display. When I issue "firefox" from the terminal, I can see the process in top, but never get the GUI to appear. :/ = ls -lr /bin/firefox lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 52 May 5 15:19 /bin/firefox - /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Any ideas?   • getting input/output error from NFS client on RHEL5

    i have two RHEL5 boxes on a private network together (192.168.2.0/24) and I am trying to export a file system from one to the other but I keep getting the following error: mount.nfs: Input/output error on the client side I see this output: mount: trying 192.168.2.101 prog 100003 vers 3 prot tcp port 2049 mount: trying 192.168.2.101 prog 100005 vers 3 prot tcp port 960 and on the server side I see this: Sep 20 14:14:32 omicron mountd[18739]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.2.87:635 for /srv/nfs/web (/srv/nfs/web) but that's all. I opened up iptables so that the whole 192.168.2.0/24 network is allowed to communicate freely but the public side is locked down to 22,80 etc.... any ideas?

  • Issues running java in Solaris 9 container

    Hi, I have a solaris 9 container built from a physical server using flarcreate. Everything seems fine, except when trying to trying to run any "java -server" process it fails with the following error This is on a Sunfire T1000 machine running Solaris 10 10/09 s10s_u8wos_08a SPARC Running jdk1.5.0_15 Exception java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested -4 bytes for size_t in /BUILD_AREA/jdk1.5.0_15/hotspot/src/os/solaris/vm/os_solaris.cpp. Out of swap space? As far as I can tell I'm not actually out of swap space. Running java in client mode works without a problem. Googles only suggestion is related to x86. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Domains propagation issues.

    Hello to all. I got very strange issue, really weird. On weekend, May 9th I changed my server location from US to UK. Of course, everything works correctly excluding domains. There's something wrong. I got few domains on this server but I still cannot access them. When I try from the other location it works correctly. The most funny situation is that everything is working correctly from my girlfriend's work, about 500 meters from our house, but they have another ISP. It also works when I access the domains via proxy server. I checked who.is informations and everything seems to be working. On Sunday and today morning I was able to access my domains but only for a while. When I refreshed website second time I got error "Firefox was not able to connect server". Since then I'm still getting this error. Could it be my ISP fault? Regards, Andrew

  • Logging in with a different password than the database password, PHPMyAdmin

    I am trying to install PHPMyAdmin on my server to manage my MySQL databases. Right now I have only one I want to add, but I would like to be able to manage multiple databases from the same account on PHPMyAdmin. How would I configure PMA so I could login with "andrew" and a password of "examplepassword" instead of the annoyingly long and unchangeable database user and password I am provided (ie. db3483478234, password of random characters)? I can't seem to find an area to specify a different password than the regular database username and password.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio not working after installing .Net Framework 4

    Yesterday I installed .Net Framework 4 as it was required by Liquid XML Studio, but just after installing it, My SQL Server Management Studio stopped working. As soon as open the IDE I get package microsoft sql management studio package failed to load I tried pretty much all the solution posted on the internet but could not get it working, today when I removed the .Net Framework 4, SQL server management studio started working again. Then just to test, I installed the .Net Framework 4 back ... and I started getting the same problem in management studio. I want both on my machine ! how can i do it ? PS : OS is Windows 7

  • Issues with hard disk secure erase

    I want to completely wipe all the data and both OSes (Ubuntu and Windows 7) from my hard drive. I tried DBAN but it gives me an error and does not run. I am looking for an alternative. After reading some articles online, I came to know that, using a Linux live CD, it can be done using either of following commands. a) sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda b) sudo shred -vfz -n 1 /dev/sda My questions are 1) Which option (a or b) is more secure (wipes everything) and faster? 2) Does either of the options damage the hard drive or anything? I want to use hard drive again i.e. installing Windows and Ubuntu again.

The client company has the latest release versions of Java SE, .NET and Adobe AIR installed on all their machines.     Hi, How would I reset my asp:DropDownList element (which has a runat="server") to index 0 every time the page is "reloaded" in firefox (F5 is pressed). Now in excel you can delete the cell and shift the rest so the finished product looks like below: Column Headings: || Agent's Name || Time Logged In || Center || Row 1: Andrew || 12:30 PM || Virtual Base Row 2: Jeff || 7:00 AM || Test Base Row 3: Ryan || 6:30 PM || And you can see we are left with a blank cell last row. How do I code this procedure of shifting the cells up in SQL? I've been struggling on this problem for weeks! Thank you!
