  • Unable to open attachment in Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922)

    - by Anon2010
I use Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922), in Windows 7 Pro 64. When I receive an email message that has an attachment, when I double click to open this attachment, nothing happens. Any kind of attachment, nothing happens. If I right click and choose "Open", nothing happens either. If I right click and choose Save As, I can save the file to disk and open it via Windows Explorer. I would like to be able to double click to open the attachment. I tried to repair WLM but that didn't make any difference. My antivirus is Microsoft Security Essentials. Does anyone know anything about this issue? Thanks

  • Outlook attachment save prompt behavior

    - by kara-marfia
It seems they've put some Clippy-like behavior into Outlook 07. Assume you open an email message and open its attachment, given that you make no changes to the message or the attachment. If you close the attachment, then close the email - works as expected Close email - prompted to save changes to attachment I have some clerical users, and they tend to believe what the computer tells them. In this case, I'm having a hard time determining the reason someone determined that Outlook should lie in this case, and prompt someone to save a file that hasn't changed. Regardless, I've only been able to find examples of people failing to find a fix for this. Anyone have ideas? edit: I should have clarified, I suppose I'm looking for a workarounnd, as it's consistently reproduceable for any machine, and I suspect is therefore "working as intended"

  • Gmail Now Supports Google Drive Integration; Share Files Up to 10GB

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Gmail users can now easily send large files thanks to Google Drive’s increased integration with Gmail–blow through the 25MB in-email attachment limit and share files up to 10GB. From the official Gmail announcement: Have you ever tried to attach a file to an email only to find out it’s too large to send? Now with Drive, you can insert filesup to 10GB – 400 times larger than what you can send as a traditional attachment. Also, because you’re sending a file stored in the cloud, all your recipients will have access to the same, most-up-to-date version.  Like a smart assistant, Gmail will also double-check that your recipients all have access to any files you’re sending. This works like Gmail’s forgotten attachment detector: whenever you send a file from Drive that isn’t shared with everyone, you’ll be prompted with the option to change the file’s sharing settings without leaving your email. It’ll even work with Drive links pasted directly into emails.  The new Gmail/Drive integration is rolling out in waves to users over the next few days and is accessible via the new Gmail compose window. • Attachment handling for web application with Jackrabbit

    - by Andrea Girardi
I need to manage attachments on my Spring web application and I thought to use an open source repository. My app it's a job approval system using J2EE / SPRING 3 Framework and Postgress DB to allow user to tracks the job, right through every step of the approval process. It is a fully managed, collaborative system that operates from a central server and is accessed by a standard internet browser. An user should be able to add an attach to a request or an approval step, so, I though to use Jackrabbit with Postgres database persistence manager. I took a look to this post: http://onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2006/10/04/what-is-java-content-repository.html?page=1 It's really interesting but, I've some question about this kind of solution :- I seen that Jackrabbit standalone as a Derby database embedded solution for persistence, is it enough for a professional use of the repository with more than 50 request / days (with attachment) ? Is there a reason for which I should use another database manager for persistence instead of the default one ?

  • A better way of representing File Attachment into a list(c#3.0)

    - by Newbie
I have written List<Attachment> lstAttachment = new List<Attachment>(); //Check if any error file is present in which case it needs to be send if (new FileInfo(Path.Combine(errorFolder, errorFileName)).Exists) { Attachment unprocessedFile = new Attachment(Path.Combine(errorFolder, errorFileName)); lstAttachment.Add(unprocessedFile); } //Check if any processed file is present in which case it needs to be send if (new FileInfo(Path.Combine(outputFolder, outputFileName)).Exists) { Attachment processedFile = new Attachment(Path.Combine(outputFolder, outputFileName)); lstAttachment.Add(processedFile); } Working fine and is giving the expected output. Basically I am attaching the file to the list based on whether the file is present or not. I am looking for any other elegant solution than the one I have written. Reason: Want to learn differnt ways of representing the same program. I am using C#3.0 Thanks.

  • Sending an email with attachment from server side

    - by SaravananArumugam
I have to create a word document in a specific format and send it as attachment to some email addresses. I have a preview screen for the report which on approval has to be send in email. This is an ASP.NET MVC 3 application. I am left with a few options here. I am creating the preview using html. I can convert this html into doc and send it, which would be a straight solution. But capturing the Response object's output is being a tough job. I thought of using Mail merge functionality of MS word, where I'll be filling the placeholders of the doc template. But the problem is conceptually, it doesn't appear to be mail merge. I have found someone suggesting to use RTF format and replace the placeholders with database values. Which is the right thing to do? What's the best solution here? Is there any other option than the three listed above?

  • Design considerations on JSON schema for scalars with a consistent attachment property

    - by casperOne
I'm trying to create a JSON schema for the results of doing statistical analysis based on disparate pieces of data. The current schema I have looks something like this: { // Basic key information. video : "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uwfjpfK0jo", start : "00:00:00", end : null, // For results of analysis, to be populated: // *** This is where it gets interesting *** analysis : { game : { value: "Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition Ver. 2012", confidence: 0.9725 } teams : [ { player : { value : "Desk", confidence: 0.95, } characters : [ { value : "Hakan", confidence: 0.80 } ] } ] } } The issue is the tuples that are used to store a value and the confidence related to that value (i.e. { value : "some value", confidence : 0.85 }), populated after the results of the analysis. This leads to a creep of this tuple for every value. Take a fully-fleshed out value from the characters array: { name : { value : "Hakan", confidence: 0.80 } ultra : { value: 1, confidence: 0.90 } } As the structures that represent the values become more and more detailed (and more analysis is done on them to try and determine the confidence behind that analysis), the nesting of the tuples adds great deal of noise to the overall structure, considering that the final result (when verified) will be: { name : "Hakan", ultra : 1 } (And recall that this is just a nested value) In .NET (in which I'll be using to work with this data), I'd have a little helper like this: public class UnknownValue<T> { T Value { get; set; } double? Confidence { get; set; } } Which I'd then use like so: public class Character { public UnknownValue<Character> Name { get; set; } } While the same as the JSON representation in code, it doesn't have the same creep because I don't have to redefine the tuple every time and property accessors hide the appearance of creep. Of course, this is an apples-to-oranges comparison, the above is code while the JSON is data. Is there a more formalized/cleaner/best practice way of containing the creep of these tuples in JSON, or is the approach above an accepted approach for the type of data I'm trying to store (and I'm just perceiving it the wrong way)? Note, this is being represented in JSON because this will ultimately go in a document database (something like RavenDB or elasticsearch). I'm not concerned about being able to serialize into the object above, because I can always use data transfer objects to facilitate getting data into/out of my underlying data store.

  • Implicit and Explicit implementations for Multiple Interface inheritance

Following C#.NET demo explains you all the scenarios for implementation of Interface methods to classes. There are two ways you can implement a interface method to a class. 1. Implicit Implementation 2. Explicit Implementation. • Extract and view Outlook contacts attachment sent to Gmail

    - by matt wilkie
A friend forwarded a contact list to my gmail account from Outlook (2007 or 2010, not sure which). I can see there is an attachment in gmail but when I save it to my local drive it's just a plain text file containing the text This attachment is a MAPI 1.0 embedded message and is not supported by this mail system. If I use gmail's "show original message" it contains in part: This is a multipart message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0016_01CC6656.CE12F030 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit ------=_NextPart_000_0016_01CC6656.CE12F030 Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="winmail.dat" eJ8+Ih0VAQaQCAAEAAAAAAABAAEAAQeQBgAIAAAA5AQAAAAAAADoAAEIgAcAGAAAAElQTS5NaWNy b3NvZnQgTWFpbC5Ob3RlADEIAQgABQAEAAAAAAAAAAAAAQkABAACAAAAAAAAAAEDkAYASAgAACgA --8<---snip---8<-- GUC/9NKH95rABgMA/g8HAAAAAwANNP0/pQ4DAA80/T+lDvAm ------=_NextPart_000_0016_01CC6656.CE12F030-- How do I save the attached winmail.dat properly, and open the winmail.dat and extract the contact list? I have Outlook 2010, but can't use it to connect directly to gmail as pop3 and imap are blocked by the corporate firewall.

  • How to Add an Attachment to a User Story using Rally REST .NET

    - by user1373451
    We're in the process of porting our .NET Rally code from SOAP to the REST .NET API. One thing I'm looking to replicate is the ability to upload attachments. I'm following a very similar procedure as to the one outlined in this posting: Rally SOAP API - How do I add an attachment to a Hierarchical Requirement Whereby the image is read into a System.Drawing.Image. We use the ImageToBase64 function to convert the image to a byte array which then gets assigned to the AttachmentContent, which is created first. Then, the Attachment gets created, and wired up to both AttachmentContent, and the HierarchicalRequirement. All of the creation events work great. A new attachment called "Image.png" gets created on the Story. However, when I download the resulting attachment from Rally, Image.png has zero bytes! I've tried this with different images, JPEG's, PNG's, etc. all with the same results. An excerpt of the code showing the process is included below. Is there something obvious that I'm missing? Thanks in advance. // .... Read content into a System.Drawing.Image.... // Convert Image to Base64 format byte[] imageBase64Format = ImageToBase64(imageObject, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Png); var imageLength = imageBase64Format.Length; // AttachmentContent DynamicJsonObject attachmentContent = new DynamicJsonObject(); attachmentContent["Content"] = imageBase64Format; CreateResult cr = restApi.Create("AttachmentContent", myAttachmentContent); String contentRef = cr.Reference; Console.WriteLine("Created: " + contentRef); // Tee up attachment DynamicJsonObject newAttachment = new DynamicJsonObject(); newAttachment["Artifact"] = story; newAttachment["Content"] = attachmentContent; newAttachment["Name"] = "Image.png"; newAttachment["ContentType"] = "image/png"; newAttachment["Size"] = imageLength; newAttachment["User"] = user; cr = restApi.Create("Attachment", newAttachment); String attachRef = attachRef.Reference; Console.WriteLine("Created: " + attachRef); } public static byte[] ImageToBase64(Image image, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat format) { using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { image.Save(ms, format); // Convert Image to byte[] byte[] imageBytes = ms.ToArray(); return imageBytes; } }

  • Sending an email attachment in memory using OpenXML

    - by ohnoesitsbroken
I've got an Excel file that's built using OpenXML 2 and I want to send it as an email attachment. e.g. System.IO.MemoryStream stream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(); SpreadsheetDocument package = SpreadsheetDocument.Create(stream, SpreadsheetDocumentType.Workbook)) AddParts(package); //created using document reflector Saving the spreadsheet to a temp file using stream.WriteTo(new System.IO.FileStream(@"c:\test.xlsx", System.IO.FileMode.Create)); works fine. But trying to send the stream directly as an email attachment fails - just get an empty file attached to the email when I do System.Net.Mail.Attachment file = new System.Net.Mail.Attachment(stream, "MobileBill.xlsx", "application/vnd.ms-excel"); Anbody know how to do this?

  • How can I send email attachment without using an additional library in Perl?

    - by CheeseConQueso
Hey, I was wondering if there is a way to attach files (specifically .csv files) to a mail message in Perl without using MIME::Lite or any other libraries. Right now, I have a 'mailer function' that works fine, but I'm not sure how to adapt it into attaching files. Here is what I have: open(MAIL, "|/usr/sbin/sendmail -t"); print MAIL "To: cheese\@yahoo.com\n"; print MAIL "From: queso\@what.com\n"; print MAIL "Subject: Attached is $filename\n\n"; print MAIL "$message"; close(MAIL); I think this is specific for UNIX.

  • Test for `point` within an attachment in `mail-mode`

    - by lawlist
I'm looking for a better test to determine when point is within a hidden attachment in mail-mode (which is used by wl-draft-mode). The attachments are mostly hidden and look like this: --[[application/xls Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="hello-world.xls"][base64]] The test of invisible-p yields a result of nil. I am current using the following test, but it seems rather poor: (save-excursion (goto-char (point-max)) (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (re-search-backward "]]" (point-at-bol) t))) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is the full snippet: (goto-char (point-max)) (cond ((= (save-excursion (abs (skip-chars-backward "\n\t"))) 0) (insert "\n\n")) ((and (= (save-excursion (abs (skip-chars-backward "\n\t"))) 1) (not (save-excursion (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (re-search-backward "]]" (point-at-bol) t)))) (insert "\n"))) GOAL:  If there are no attachments and no new lines at the end of the buffer, then insert \n\n and then insert the attachment thereafter. If there is just one new line at the end of the buffer, then insert \n and then insert the attachment thereafter. If there is an attachment at the end of the buffer, then do not insert any new lines.

  • Error in Outlook: "A program has attachment...open" when replying to email

    - by Billious
Whenever I reply to an email in Outlook 2007, dialogue box pops up saying: "A program has the attachment <email subject> open. Changes to this file will be lost unless you save your changes to another file by clicking the Microsoft Office Button in the other program, and then clicking Save As." This happens whether the original email has an attachment or not. It's just an annoyance really - Outlook works fine in every other respect. It only started happening about a week ago. As far as I can remember I haven't installed any new software that is likely to have affected it.
