I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. • In AD how to get groups the workstation is a member of from the workstation itself?

    - by David
If I'm at the domain controller (in the Active Directory) to find out what groups the "XPSP3-A" workstation is a member of, I do: dsquery computer "CN=XPSP3-A,CN=Computers,DC=pvk,DC=local" -name XPSP3-A | dsget computer -memberof and receive the following: "CN=Sec Group 001,OU=OU1,DC=pvk,DC=local" "CN=Domain Computers,CN=Users,DC=pvk,DC=local" But how to do the same from the "XPSP3-A" workstation?

  • Am I Leaking ADO.NET Connections?

    - by HardCode
Here is an example of my code in a DAL. All calls to the database's Stored Procedures are structured this way, and there is no in-line SQL. Friend Shared Function Save(ByVal s As MyClass) As Boolean Dim cn As SqlClient.SqlConnection = Dal.Connections.MyAppConnection Dim cmd As New SqlClient.SqlCommand Try cmd.Connection = cn cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure cmd.CommandText = "proc_save_my_class" cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@param1", s.Foo) cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@param2", s.Bar) Return True Finally Dal.Utility.CleanupAdoObjects(cmd, cn) End Try End Function Here is the Connection factory (if I am using the correct term): Friend Shared Function MyAppConnection() As SqlClient.SqlConnection Dim cn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("MyConnectionString").ToString) cn.Open() If cn.State <> ConnectionState.Open Then ' CriticalException is a custom object inheriting from Exception. Throw New CriticalException("Could not connect to the database.") Else Return cn End If End Function Here is the Dal.Utility.CleaupAdoObjects() function: Friend Shared Sub CleanupAdoObjects(ByVal cmd As SqlCommand, ByVal cn As SqlConnection) If cmd IsNot Nothing Then cmd.Dispose() If cn IsNot Nothing AndAlso cn.State <> ConnectionState.Closed Then cn.Close() End Sub I am getting a lot of "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." error messages reported by the users. The application's DAL opens a connection, reads or saves data, and closes it. No connections are ever left open - intentionally! There is nothing obvious on the Windows 2000 Server hosting the SQL Server 2000 that would indicate a problem. Nothing in the Event Logs and nothing in the SQL Server logs. The timeouts happen randomly - I cannot reproduce. It happens early in the day with only 1 to 5 users in the system. It also happens with around 50 users in the system. The most connections to SQL Server via Performance Monitor, for all databases, has been about 74. The timeouts happen in code that both saves to, and reads from, the database in different parts of the application. The stack trace does not point to one or two offending DAL functions. It's happened in many different places. Does my ADO.NET code appear to be able to leak connections? I've goolged around a bit, and I've read that if the connection pool fills up, this can happen. However, I'm not explicitly setting any connection pooling. I've even tried to increase the Connection Timeout in the connection string, but timeouts happen long before the 300 second (5 minute) value: <add name="MyConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=MyServer;Initial Catalog=MyDatabase;Integrated Security=SSPI;Connection Timeout=300;"/> I'm at a total loss already as to what is causing these Timeout issues. Any ideas are appreciated.

  • Active Directory Child Domain Replication Problems

    - by MikeR
Hi, I've recently inherited an Active Directory (all DCs Windows 2003) which has been configured with several child domains that are used as test environments for out CRM software. Two of these child domains have been used for testing using dates in the future (2015), throwing them well outside of the Kerberos tolerance for time, and they're flooding my event logs with replication errors such as the following: Description: The attempt to establish a replication link for the following writable directory partition failed. Directory partition: CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ad,DC=xxxxxxx,DC=com Source domain controller: CN=NTDS Settings,CN=TESTDC001,CN=Servers,CN=SiteName,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=ad,DC=xxxxxxx,DC=com Source domain controller address: 38e95b2a-35af-4174-84ba-9ab039528cce._msdcs.ad.xxxxxxx.com Intersite transport (if any): This domain controller will be unable to replicate with the source domain controller until this problem is corrected. User Action Verify if the source domain controller is accessible or network connectivity is available. Additional Data Error value: 5 Access is denied. I'd also like to upgrade to Windows 2008 at some point, but wouldn't want to attempt any schema updates while I'm not 100% confident on the replication. I'm guessing my only real solution will be to get rid of these child domains. The child domains are operating as stand alone domains, the DC is up and running and authenticating test users fine. I'm guessing the best solution to this would be to delete the domains (although I'd be happily told otherwise). The clock forwarding appears to have been happening for several years, so I'm assuming I can't just put the clock right (I'm guessing scope for this would be 180days, the same as the tombstone lifetime) With the replication errors would I be able to dcpromo the child domains DC, select it as the last domain controller in the domain and the child domain would be deleted? Or would I be better off treating the domain as an orphaned domain and use Microsoft's instructions to clear up as such. Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Exchange 2013 attachments too big?

    - by KPS
I am having the toughest time sending large attachments, everywhere I have checked my file size limit for send/receive is 100mb but yet users are unable to receive files even at the size of 14mb. I'm using a spam filter (Appriver) and have worked with there support for a very long time, we see the following errors in logs 13:32:40.260 4 SMTP-000036([myserverIP]) rsp: 354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF> 13:33:41.038 3 SMTP-000033([myserverIP]) write failed. Error Code=connection reset by peer 13:33:41.038 4 SMTP([myserverIP]) [659500] batch reenqueued into tail Windows firewall is disabled on the exchange server, all other emails that are of smaller value come through just fine. Here is a print out of size limits: ConnectorType ConnectorName MaxReceiveMessageSize MaxSendMessageSize ------------- ------------- --------------------- ------------------ Send InternetSendConnector - 35 MB (36,700,160 bytes) Send Appriver-Smarthost - 35 MB (36,700,160 bytes) Receive Default EXCHSRVR 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) - Receive Client Proxy EXCHSRVR 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) - Receive Default Frontend EXCHSRVR 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) - Receive Outbound Proxy Frontend EXCHSRVR 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) - Receive Client Frontend EXCHSRVR 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) - Receive ExchangeRelay 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) - TransportConfig - 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes) 10 MB (10,485,760 bytes) ADSiteLink DEFAULTIPSITELINK Unlimited Unlimited There is a no anti-virus on the server either that could be interfering, I am out of ideas at this point :( EDIT 1 After running BPA, it gives and error: Exchange Organization: Check whether the incoming message(CN=MyDomain,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=WG,DC=local) size isn't set The maximum incoming message size isn't set in organization 'CN=MyDomain,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=WG,DC=local'. This can cause reliability problems. Seems like there is a 10mb receive limit somewhere that I cannot find.

  • fail2ban custom action to permanent ban IPs from China

    - by John Magnolia
When a IP address gets banned how can I check if the banned IP address is from China. If yes, then add it to the permanent ban list. I have found this nice guide which write the banned IP to file. Reason: I am getting a lot of brute force attacks from China daily, thankfully fail2ban is helping restrict this although they appear to be getting worse and they are just changing their IP Address. Or even better would be if there was a maintained database of known hacker IP addresses. Example 1 Hi, The IP 60.169.78.77 has just been banned by Fail2Ban after 4 attempts against vsftpd. • Write a GreaseMonkey script that reacts to domain strings (for I18N, e.g. cn,en,fr,etc.)

    - by Shizhidi
Hello. Suppose there is a website that supports multiple languages: cn.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/cn or mydomain.cn en.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/en or mydomain.com fr.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/fr or mydomain.fr I want to write a GreaseMonkey script that has variables assigned different strings/values according to the address the user is loading the page from. How do you do that? Thanks EDIT: I realize I can just use JavaScript to get the address. Does GreaseMonkey itself support this kind of function?

  • Modifying AD Schema permissions from the command line

    - by Ryan Roussel
Recently while making some changes for a client, I accidently dug myself into a pretty deep hole.  I was trying to explicitly deny a certain user from reading a few group policies including the Default Domain Policy.  When I went in to make the change I accidently denied Authenticated Users rather than the AD user object.  This of course made the GPO inaccessible to all users including any with domain admin rights.  The policy could no longer be modified in the GPMC and worse, changes could not be made through ADSIedit.   The errors I was getting from inside ADSIedit when trying to edit the container looked like this This object has one or more property sheets currently open. Invalid path to object The only solution was to strip Authenticated Users from the container ACL completely in the schema, then re-add it back with the default read and apply rights.  To perform this action, I used a command I had never used before:  DSALCS.exe  It’s part of the DSMOD group of tools.  Since this command interacts with the actual schema, you have to know the full LDAP container or object name.  In this case the GUID of the Default Domain Policy: {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}   The actual commands I ran looked like this:   To display the current ACL of the container: c:\>dsacls “cn={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},cn=Policies,cn=System, dc=domain,dc=com” /A To strip Authenticated Users from the ACL of the container: c:\>dsacls “cn={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},cn=Policies,cn=System, dc=domain,dc=com” /R “NT Authority\Authenticated Users”   For full reference of the DSACLS.EXE command visit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281146 Once the Authenticated Users was cleared from the ACL, I was able to use Group Policy Management Console to reassign the default permissions.

  • Programming logic to group a users activities like facebook. E.g. Chris is now friends with A, B and C

    - by Chris Dowdeswell
So I am trying to develop an activity feed for my site, Basically If I UNION a bunch of activities into a feed I would end up with something like the following. Chris is now friends with Mark Chris is now friends with Dave What I want though is a neater way of grouping these similar posts so the feed doesn't give information overload... E.g. Chris is now friends with Mark, Dave and 4 Others Any ideas on how I can approach this logically? I am using Classic ASP on SQL server. Here is the UNION statement I have so far... SELECT U.UserID As UserID, L.UN As UN,Left(U.UID,13) As ProfilePic,U.Fname + ' ' + U.Sname As FullName, 'said ' + WP.Post AS Activity, WP.Ctime FROM Users AS U LEFT JOIN Logins L ON L.userID = U.UserID LEFT OUTER JOIN WallPosts AS WP ON WP.userID = U.userID WHERE WP.Ctime IS NOT NULL UNION SELECT U.UserID As UserID, L.UN As UN,Left(U.UID,13) As ProfilePic,U.Fname + ' ' + U.Sname As FullName, 'commented ' + C.Comment AS Activity, C.Ctime FROM Users AS U LEFT JOIN Logins L ON L.userID = U.UserID LEFT OUTER JOIN Comments AS C ON C.UserID = U.userID WHERE C.Ctime IS NOT NULL UNION SELECT U.UserID As UserID, L.UN As UN,Left(U.UID,13) As ProfilePic, U.Fname + ' ' + U.Sname As FullName, 'connected with <a href="/profile.asp?un='+(SELECT Logins.un FROM Logins WHERE Logins.userID = Cn.ToUserID)+'">' + (SELECT Users.Fname + ' ' + Users.Sname FROM Users WHERE userID = Cn.ToUserID) + '</a>' AS Activity, Cn.Ctime FROM Users AS U LEFT JOIN Logins L ON L.userID = U.UserID LEFT OUTER JOIN Connections AS Cn ON Cn.UserID = U.userID WHERE CN.Ctime IS NOT NULL

  • Install DC again after removing on exchange server

    - by Kawharu
I had a DC and Exchange 2010 installed on the same machine. I removed the DC role, and Exchange server went crazy. I tried to install the DC role again to fix the problem but ran into this error when running DCPROMO: Active Directory Domain Services could not create the NTDS Settings object for this Active Directory Domain Controller CN=NTDS Settings,CN=DC1,CN=Servers,CN=Manukau,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=AccessGroupnz,DC=com on the remote AD DC Server1.AccessGroupnz.com. Ensure the provided network credentials have sufficient permissions. "The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure." Do you think I need to run this in an elevated command prompt, or change credentials somewhere to domain admin? Or is it something else?

  • LDAP installed, running, but can't connect remotely [Ubuntu 10.10]

    - by Casey Jordan
Hi all, I installed LDAP on my ubuntu 10.10 system, using the tutorial found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html Everything seems to be working well, when logged into the server via ssh I can run commands like: > ldapsearch -xLLL -b "dc=easydita,dc=com" uid=john sn givenName cn dn: uid=john,ou=people,dc=easydita,dc=com sn: Doe givenName: John cn: John Doe So I think that's a good sign that things are working well. However I have had zero luck connecting to the server remotely via GUI tools or command line. I have tied JXplorer, and LDAP administration tool. Running commands like this: > ldapsearch -xLLL -W -H ldap://ice.rit.edu -d1 "dc=easydita,dc=com" ldap_url_parse_ext(ldap://ice.rit.edu) ldap_create ldap_url_parse_ext(ldap://ice.rit.edu:389/??base) Enter LDAP Password: ldap_sasl_bind ldap_send_initial_request ldap_new_connection 1 1 0 ldap_int_open_connection ldap_connect_to_host: TCP ice.rit.edu:389 ldap_new_socket: 3 ldap_prepare_socket: 3 ldap_connect_to_host: Trying 127.0.0.1:389 ldap_pvt_connect: fd: 3 tm: -1 async: 0 ldap_open_defconn: successful ldap_send_server_request ber_scanf fmt ({it) ber: ber_scanf fmt ({i) ber: ber_flush2: 34 bytes to sd 3 ldap_result ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 wait4msg ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 (infinite timeout) wait4msg continue ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 all 1 ** ld 0xb8940170 Connections: * host: ice.rit.edu port: 389 (default) refcnt: 2 status: Connected last used: Thu Mar 17 19:42:29 2011 ** ld 0xb8940170 Outstanding Requests: * msgid 1, origid 1, status InProgress outstanding referrals 0, parent count 0 ld 0xb8940170 request count 1 (abandoned 0) ** ld 0xb8940170 Response Queue: Empty ld 0xb8940170 response count 0 ldap_chkResponseList ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 all 1 ldap_chkResponseList returns ld 0xb8940170 NULL ldap_int_select read1msg: ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 all 1 ber_get_next ber_get_next: tag 0x30 len 16 contents: read1msg: ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 message type bind ber_scanf fmt ({eAA) ber: read1msg: ld 0xb8940170 0 new referrals read1msg: mark request completed, ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 request done: ld 0xb8940170 msgid 1 res_errno: 49, res_error: <>, res_matched: <> ldap_free_request (origid 1, msgid 1) ldap_parse_result ber_scanf fmt ({iAA) ber: ber_scanf fmt (}) ber: ldap_msgfree ldap_err2string ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) I am pretty sure that I set up the admin password correctly, but the tutorial was not very specific about that. • Create a AD-LDS partition under a child of the primary partition

    - by ixe013
I have a AD-LDS instance running on a Server 2008 R2. I have this application partition, created at installation : dc=enterprise,dc=example,dc=com I have succesfully followed this procedure to create application partitions. They are named : cn=stuff,dc=enterprise,dc=example,dc=com cn=things,dc=enterprise,dc=example,dc=com If I configure my client(s) to follow referals, I can search from dc=enterprise,dc=example,dc=com and find objects under cn=stuff and cn=things. How can I create (or move after the fact) the stuff and things partitions so they are logically located under a OU under the initial partition, ending up with something like : cn=stuff,ou=applications,dc=enterprise,dc=example,dc=com cn=things,ou=applications,dc=enterprise,dc=example,dc=com

  • Apply email retention policy to Inbox but not subfolders?

    - by NaOH
Our official email policy states that email older than 90 days in the Inbox is moved to Deleted Items, not including subfolders of the Inbox. This wasn't a problem to implement in Exchange 2003. In 2010, however, it appears that Policy Tags applied to the Inbox also apply to its subfolders. How can I prevent this from occuring? We are getting this exception when we start our cluster (2 managed servers, 1 admin), we have deployed only the ears corresponding to the OBPM 10.3.1 SP1 in a weblogic 10.3. • Elfsign Object Signing on Solaris

    - by danx
Elfsign Object Signing on Solaris Don't let this happen to you—use elfsign! Solaris elfsign(1) is a command that signs and verifies ELF format executables. That includes not just executable programs (such as ls or cp), but other ELF format files including libraries (such as libnvpair.so) and kernel modules (such as autofs). Elfsign has been available since Solaris 10 and ELF format files distributed with Solaris, since Solaris 10, are signed by either Sun Microsystems or its successor, Oracle Corporation. When an ELF file is signed, elfsign adds a new section the ELF file, .SUNW_signature, that contains a RSA public key signature and other information about the signer. That is, the algorithm used, algorithm OID, signer CN/OU, and time stamp. The signature section can later be verified by elfsign or other software by matching the signature in the file agains the ELF file contents (excluding the signature). ELF executable files may also be signed by a 3rd-party or by the customer. This is useful for verifying the origin and authenticity of executable files installed on a system. The 3rd-party or customer public key certificate should be installed in /etc/certs/ to allow verification by elfsign. For currently-released versions of Solaris, only cryptographic framework plugin libraries are verified by Solaris. However, all ELF files may be verified by the elfsign command at any time. Elfsign Algorithms Elfsign signatures are created by taking a digest of the ELF section contents, then signing the digest with RSA. To verify, one takes a digest of ELF file and compares with the expected digest that's computed from the signature and RSA public key. Originally elfsign took a MD5 digest of a SHA-1 digest of the ELF file sections, then signed the resulting digest with RSA. In Solaris 11.1 then Solaris 11.1 SRU 7 (5/2013), the elfsign crypto algorithms available have been expanded to keep up with evolving cryptography. The following table shows the available elfsign algorithms: Elfsign Algorithm Solaris Release Comments elfsign sign -F rsa_md5_sha1   S10, S11.0, S11.1 Default for S10. Not recommended* elfsign sign -F rsa_sha1 S11.1 Default for S11.1. Not recommended elfsign sign -F rsa_sha256 S11.1 patch SRU7+   Recommended ___ *Most or all CAs do not accept MD5 CSRs and do not issue MD5 certs due to MD5 hash collision problems. RSA Key Length. I recommend using RSA-2048 key length with elfsign is RSA-2048 as the best balance between a long expected "life time", interoperability, and performance. RSA-2048 keys have an expected lifetime through 2030 (and probably beyond). For details, see Recommendation for Key Management: Part 1: General, NIST Publication SP 800-57 part 1 (rev. 3, 7/2012, PDF), tables 2 and 4 (pp. 64, 67). Step 1: create or obtain a key and cert The first step in using elfsign is to obtain a key and cert from a public Certificate Authority (CA), or create your own self-signed key and cert. I'll briefly explain both methods. Obtaining a Certificate from a CA To obtain a cert from a CA, such as Verisign, Thawte, or Go Daddy (to name a few random examples), you create a private key and a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) file and send it to the CA, following the instructions of the CA on their website. They send back a signed public key certificate. The public key cert, along with the private key you created is used by elfsign to sign an ELF file. The public key cert is distributed with the software and is used by elfsign to verify elfsign signatures in ELF files. You need to request a RSA "Class 3 public key certificate", which is used for servers and software signing. Elfsign uses RSA and we recommend RSA-2048 keys. The private key and CSR can be generated with openssl(1) or pktool(1) on Solaris. Here's a simple example that uses pktool to generate a private RSA_2048 key and a CSR for sending to a CA: $ pktool gencsr keystore=file format=pem outcsr=MYCSR.p10 \ subject="CN=canineswworks.com,OU=Canine SW object signing" \ outkey=MYPRIVATEKEY.key $ openssl rsa -noout -text -in MYPRIVATEKEY.key Private-Key: (2048 bit) modulus: 00:d2:ef:42:f2:0b:8c:96:9f:45:32:fc:fe:54:94: . . . That is, protect the key to protect against unauthorized signatures by others. One method is to use a PIN-protected PKCS#11 keystore. The private key you generate should be stored in a secure manner, such as in a PKCS#11 keystore using pktool(1). Otherwise others can sign your signature. Other secure key storage mechanisms include a SCA-6000 crypto card, a USB thumb drive stored in a locked area, a dedicated server with restricted access, Oracle Key Manager (OKM), or some combination of these. I also recommend secure backup of the private key. Here's an example of generating a private key protected in the PKCS#11 keystore, and a CSR. $ pktool setpin # use if PIN not set yet Enter token passphrase: changeme Create new passphrase: Re-enter new passphrase: Passphrase changed. $ pktool gencsr keystore=pkcs11 label=MYPRIVATEKEY \ format=pem outcsr=MYCSR.p10 \ subject="CN=canineswworks.com,OU=Canine SW object signing" $ pktool list keystore=pkcs11 Enter PIN for Sun Software PKCS#11 softtoken: Found 1 asymmetric public keys. Key #1 - RSA public key: MYPRIVATEKEY Here's another example that uses openssl instead of pktool to generate a private key and CSR: $ openssl genrsa -out cert.key 2048 $ openssl req -new -key cert.key -out MYCSR.p10 Self-Signed Cert You can use openssl or pktool to create a private key and a self-signed public key certificate. A self-signed cert is useful for development, testing, and internal use. The private key created should be stored in a secure manner, as mentioned above. The following example creates a private key, MYSELFSIGNED.key, and a public key cert, MYSELFSIGNED.pem, using pktool and displays the contents with the openssl command. $ pktool gencert keystore=file format=pem serial=0xD06F00D lifetime=20-year \ keytype=rsa hash=sha256 outcert=MYSELFSIGNED.pem outkey=MYSELFSIGNED.key \ subject="O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com" $ pktool list keystore=file objtype=cert infile=MYSELFSIGNED.pem Found 1 certificates. 1. [omitted for brevity] . . . af:01:5f:af:ad:6a:09:bf Step 2: Sign the ELF File object By now you should have your private key, and obtained, by hook or crook, a cert (either from a CA or use one you created (a self-signed cert). The next step is to sign one or more objects with your private key and cert. Here's a simple example that creates an object file, signs, verifies, and lists the contents of the ELF signature. $ echo '#include <stdio.h>\nint main(){printf("Hello\\n");}'>hello.c $ make hello cc -o hello hello.c $ elfsign verify -v -c MYSELFSIGNED.pem -e hello elfsign: no signature found in hello. $ elfsign sign -F rsa_sha256 -v -k MYSELFSIGNED.key -c MYSELFSIGNED.pem -e hello elfsign: hello signed successfully. format: rsa_sha256. signer: O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com. signed on: October 17, 2013 04:22:49 PM PDT. $ elfsign list -f format -e hello rsa_sha256 $ elfsign list -f signer -e hello O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com $ elfsign list -f time -e hello October 17, 2013 04:22:49 PM PDT $ elfsign verify -v -c MYSELFSIGNED.key -e hello elfsign: verification of hello failed. format: rsa_sha256. signer: O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com. signed on: October 17, 2013 04:22:49 PM PDT. Signing using the pkcs11 keystore To sign the ELF file using a private key in the secure pkcs11 keystore, replace "-K MYSELFSIGNED.key" in the "elfsign sign" command line with "-T MYPRIVATEKEY", where MYPRIVATKEY is the pkcs11 token label. Step 3: Install the cert and test on another system Just signing the object isn't enough. You need to copy or install the cert and the signed ELF file(s) on another system to test that the signature is OK. Your public key cert should be installed in /etc/certs. Use elfsign verify to verify the signature. Elfsign verify checks each cert in /etc/certs until it finds one that matches the elfsign signature in the file. If one isn't found, the verification fails. Here's an example: $ su Password: # rm /etc/certs/MYSELFSIGNED.key # cp MYSELFSIGNED.pem /etc/certs # exit $ elfsign verify -v hello elfsign: verification of hello passed. format: rsa_sha256. signer: O=Canine Software Works, OU=Self-signed CA, CN=canineswworks.com. signed on: October 17, 2013 04:24:20 PM PDT. After testing, package your cert along with your ELF object to allow elfsign verification after your cert and object are installed or copied. Under the Hood: elfsign verification Here's the steps taken to verify a ELF file signed with elfsign. The steps to sign the file are similar except the private key exponent is used instead of the public key exponent and the .SUNW_signature section is written to the ELF file instead of being read from the file. Generate a digest (SHA-256) of the ELF file sections. This digest uses all ELF sections loaded in memory, but excludes the ELF header, the .SUNW_signature section, and the symbol table Extract the RSA signature (RSA-2048) from the .SUNW_signature section Extract the RSA public key modulus and public key exponent (65537) from the public key cert Calculate the expected digest as follows:     signaturepublicKeyExponent % publicKeyModulus Strip the PKCS#1 padding (most significant bytes) from the above. The padding is 0x00, 0x01, 0xff, 0xff, . . ., 0xff, 0x00. If the actual digest == expected digest, the ELF file is verified (OK). Further Information elfsign(1), pktool(1), and openssl(1) man pages. • Openldap/Sasl/GSSAPI on Debian: Key table entry not found

    - by badbishop
The goal: to make an OpenLDAP server to authenticate using Kerberos V via GSSAPI Setup: several virtual machines running on freshly installed/updated Debian Squeeze A master KDC server kdc.example.com A LDAP server, running OpenLDAP ldap.example.com The problem: tom@ldap:~$ ldapsearch -b 'dc=example,dc=com' SASL/GSSAPI authentication started ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error (80) additional info: SASL(-1): generic failure: GSSAPI Error: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information (Key table entry not found) One might suggest to add that bloody keytab entry, but here's the real problem: ktutil: rkt /etc/ldap/ldap.keytab ktutil: list slot KVNO Principal ---- ---- --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 2 ldap/[email protected] 2 2 ldap/[email protected] 3 2 ldap/[email protected] 4 2 ldap/[email protected] So, the entry as suggested by the OpenLDAP manual is there allright. Deleting and re-creating both service principal and the keytab on ldap.example.com didn't help, I get the same error. And before I make the keytab file readable by openldap, I get "Permission denied" error instead of the one in the subject. Which implies, that the right keytab file is being accessed, as set in /etc/default/slapd. I have my doubts about the following part of slapd config: root@ldap:~# cat /etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn\=config.ldif | grep -v "^#" dn: cn=config objectClass: olcGlobal cn: config olcArgsFile: /var/run/slapd/slapd.args olcLogLevel: 256 olcPidFile: /var/run/slapd/slapd.pid olcToolThreads: 1 structuralObjectClass: olcGlobal entryUUID: d6737f5c-d321-1030-9dbe-27d2a7751e11 olcSaslHost: kdc.example.com olcSaslRealm: EXAMPLE.COM olcSaslSecProps: noplain,noactive,noanonymous,minssf=56 olcAuthzRegexp: {0}"uid=([^/]*),cn=EXAMPLE.COM,cn=GSSAPI,cn=auth" "uid=$1,ou=People,dc=example,dc=com" olcAuthzRegexp: {1}"uid=host/([^/]*).example.com,cn=example.com,cn=gssapi,cn=auth" "cn=$1,ou=hosts,dc=example,dc=com" A HOWTO at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenLDAPServer#Kerberos_Authentication mentiones vaguely: Also, it is frequently necessary to map the Distinguished Name (DN) of an authorized Kerberos client to an existing entry in the DIT. I fail to understand where in the tree this should be defined, what schema should be used, etc. After hours of googling, it's official: I'm stuck! Please, help. Other things checked: Kerberos as such works fine (I can ssh without using a password to any machine in this setup). That means there should be no DNS-related problems. ldapsearch -b 'dc=example,dc=com' -x works OK. But when on Invoke I get the following exception : InvalidRunspaceStateException "Unable to call the pipeline because its state of execution is not Opened. Its current state is Opening." (Also translated from french) I'm clueless... Any help welcome !!! Thanks !!!

  • Squid - Active Directory - permissions based on Nodes rather than Groups

    - by Genboy
Hi, I have squid running on a gateway machine & I am trying to integrate it with Active Directory for authentication & also for giving different browsing permissions for different users. 1) /usr/lib/squid/ldap_auth -b OU=my,DC=company,DC=com -h ldapserver -f sAMAccountName=%s -D "CN=myadmin,OU=Unrestricted Users,OU=my,DC=company,DC=com" -w mypwd 2) /usr/lib/squid/squid_ldap_group -b "OU=my,DC=company,DC=com" -f "(&(sAMAccountName=%u)(memberOf=cn=%g,cn=users,dc=company,dc=com))" -h ldapserver -D "CN=myadmin,OU=Unrestricted Users,OU=my,DC=company,DC=com" -w zxcv Using the first command above, I am able to authenticate users. Using the second command above, I am able to figure out if a user belongs to a particular active directory group. So I should be able to set ACL's based on groups. However, my customer's AD setup is such that he has users arranged in different Nodes. For eg. He has users setup in the following way cn=usr1,ou=Lev1,ou=Users,ou=my,ou=company,ou=com cn=usr2,ou=Lev2,ou=Users,ou=my,ou=company,ou=com cn=usr3,ou=Lev3,ou=Users,ou=my,ou=company,ou=com etc. So, he wants that I have different permissions based on whether a user belongs to Lev1 or Lev2 or Lev3 nodes. Note that these aren't groups, but nodes. Is there a way to do this with squid? My squid is running on a debian machine.

  • Why is my RapidSSL Certificate chain is not trusted on ubuntu?

    - by olouv
I have a website that works perfectly with Chrome & other browser but i get some errors with PHP in CLI mode so i'm investigating it, running this: openssl s_client -showcerts -verify 32 -connect dev.carlipa-online.com:443 Quite suprisingly my HTTPS appears untrusted with a Verify return code: 27 (certificate not trusted) Here is the raw output : verify depth is 32 CONNECTED(00000003) depth=2 C = US, O = GeoTrust Inc., CN = GeoTrust Global CA verify error:num=20:unable to get local issuer certificate verify return:1 depth=2 C = US, O = GeoTrust Inc., CN = GeoTrust Global CA verify error:num=27:certificate not trusted verify return:1 depth=1 C = US, O = "GeoTrust, Inc.", CN = RapidSSL CA verify return:1 depth=0 serialNumber = khKDXfnS0WtB8DgV0CAdsmWrXl-Ia9wZ, C = FR, O = *.carlipa-online.com, OU = GT44535187, OU = See www.rapidssl.com/resources/cps (c)12, OU = Domain Control Validated - RapidSSL(R), CN = *.carlipa-online.com verify return:1 So GeoTrust Global CA appears to be not trusted on the system (Ubuntu 11.10). Added Equifax_Secure_CA to try to solve this... But i get in this case Verify return code: 19 (self signed certificate in certificate chain) ! Raw output : verify depth is 32 CONNECTED(00000003) depth=3 C = US, O = Equifax, OU = Equifax Secure Certificate Authority verify error:num=19:self signed certificate in certificate chain verify return:1 depth=3 C = US, O = Equifax, OU = Equifax Secure Certificate Authority verify return:1 depth=2 C = US, O = GeoTrust Inc., CN = GeoTrust Global CA verify return:1 depth=1 C = US, O = "GeoTrust, Inc.", CN = RapidSSL CA verify return:1 depth=0 serialNumber = khKDXfnS0WtB8DgV0CAdsmWrXl-Ia9wZ, C = FR, O = *.carlipa-online.com, OU = GT44535187, OU = See www.rapidssl.com/resources/cps (c)12, OU = Domain Control Validated - RapidSSL(R), CN = *.carlipa-online.com verify return:1 Edit Looks like my server does not trust/provide the Equifax Root CA, however i do correctly have the file in /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/Equifax...

  • Listing group members using ldapsearch

    - by colemanm
Our corporate LDAP directory is housed on a Snow Leopard Server Open Directory setup. I'm trying to use the ldapsearch tool to export an .ldif file to import into another external LDAP server to authenticate with externally; basically trying to be able to use the same credentials internally and externally. I've got ldapsearch working and giving me the contents and attributes of everything in the "Users" OU, and even filtering down to only the attributes I need: ldapsearch -xLLL -H ldap://server.domain.net / -b "cn=users,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=net" objectClass / uid uidNumber cn userPassword > directorycontents.ldif That gives me a list of users and properties that I can import to my remote OpenLDAP server. dn: uid=username1,cn=users,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=net objectClass: inetOrgPerson objectClass: posixAccount objectClass: organizationalPerson uidNumber: 1000 uid: username1 userPassword:: (hashedpassword) cn: username1 However, when I try the same query on an OD "group" instead of a "container," the results are something like this: dn: cn=groupname,cn=groups,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=net objectClass: posixGroup objectClass: apple-group objectClass: extensibleObject objectClass: top gidNumber: 1032 cn: groupname memberUid: username1 memberUid: username2 memberUid: username3 What I really want is a list of users from the top example filtered based on their group memberships, but it looks like membership is set from the Group side, rather than the user account side. There must be a way to filter this down and only export what I need, right?

  • Removing/modifying LDAP objectclasses/attributes using olc

    - by Foezjie
    I'm having trouble using openldap's olc to modify a schema without shutting down the server. To test some things out, I made the following schema: objectIdentifier tests orgUlyssisOID:4 objectIdentifier testAttribute tests:1 objectIdentifier testObjectClass tests:2 attributeType ( testAttribute:1 NAME 'attr1' DESC 'attribuut 1' SYNTAX '1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40' ) attributeType ( testAttribute:2 NAME 'attr2' DESC 'attribuut 2' SUP userPassword SINGLE-VALUE ) objectclass ( testObjectClass:1 NAME 'class1' DESC 'objectclass 1' SUP top STRUCTURAL MUST (attr1 $ attr2 ) ) And added it to a new schema called test. (cn={9}test.ldif in cn=schema). Now I can't seem to figure out how to delete class1 from that schema. I use the following LDIF (and tried lots of variations too, to no avail) dn : cn={9}test,cn=schema,cn=config changetype: modify delete: olcObjectClasses olcObjectClasses: ( testObjectClass:1 NAME 'class1' DESC 'objectclass 1' SUP top STRUCTURAL MUST ( attr1 $ attr2 ) ) Running ldapmodify -x -W -D cn=admin,cn=config -f test.ldif -d 0 gives no output. -d 1 gives this: ldap_create ldap_sasl_bind ldap_send_initial_request ldap_new_connection 1 1 0 ldap_int_open_connection ldap_connect_to_host: TCP localhost:389 ldap_new_socket: 4 ldap_prepare_socket: 4 ldap_connect_to_host: Trying 127.0.0.1:389 ldap_pvt_connect: fd: 4 tm: -1 async: 0 ldap_open_defconn: successful ldap_send_server_request ber_scanf fmt ({it) ber: ber_scanf fmt ({i) ber: ber_flush2: 38 bytes to sd 4 ldap_result ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 wait4msg ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 (infinite timeout) wait4msg continue ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 all 1 ** ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 Connections: * host: localhost port: 389 (default) refcnt: 2 status: Connected last used: Mon Sep 10 11:29:57 2012 ** ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 Outstanding Requests: * msgid 1, origid 1, status InProgress outstanding referrals 0, parent count 0 ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 request count 1 (abandoned 0) ** ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 Response Queue: Empty ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 response count 0 ldap_chkResponseList ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 all 1 ldap_chkResponseList returns ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 NULL ldap_int_select read1msg: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 all 1 ber_get_next ber_get_next: tag 0x30 len 12 contents: read1msg: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 message type bind ber_scanf fmt ({eAA) ber: read1msg: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 0 new referrals read1msg: mark request completed, ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 request done: ld 0x7f2a8ccf3430 msgid 1 res_errno: 0, res_error: <>, res_matched: <> ldap_free_request (origid 1, msgid 1) ldap_parse_result ber_scanf fmt ({iAA) ber: ber_scanf fmt (}) ber: ldap_msgfree ldap_free_connection 1 1 ldap_send_unbind ber_flush2: 7 bytes to sd 4 ldap_free_connection: actually freed So no real indication of an error.
