  • PHP While loop seperating unique categories from multiple 'Joined' tables

    - by Hob
    I'm pretty new to Joins so hope this all makes sense. I'm joining 4 tables and want to create a while loop that spits out results nested under different categories. My Tables categories id | category_name pages id | page_name | category *page_content* id | page_id | image_id images id | thumb_path My current SQL join <?php $all_photos = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM categories JOIN pages ON pages.category = categories.id JOIN image_pages ON image_pages.page_id = pages.id JOIN images ON images.id = image_pages.image_id ");?> The result I want from a while loop I would like to get something like this.... Category 1 page 1 Image 1, image 2, image 3 page 2 Image 2, image 4 Category 2 page 3 image 1 page 4 image 1, image 2, image 3 I hope that makes sense. Each image can fall under multiple pages and each page can fall under multiple categories. at the moment I have 2 solutions, one which lists each category several times according to the the amount of pages inside them: eg. category 1, page 1, image 1 - category 1, page 1, image 2 etc One that uses a while loop inside another while loop inside another while loop, resulting in 3 sql queries. <?php while($all_page = mysql_fetch_array($all_pages)) { ?> <p><?=$all_page['page_name']?></p> <?php $all_images = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM images JOIN image_pages ON image_pages.page_id = " . $all_page['id'] . " AND image_pages.image_id = images.id"); ?> <div class="admin-images-block clearfix"> <?php while($all_image = mysql_fetch_array($all_images)) { ?> <img src="<?=$all_image['thumb_path']?>" alt="<?=$all_image['title']?>"/> <?php } ?> </div> <?php } } ?

  • ampersand problem with wordpress categories

    - by InnateDev
I have an array of categories, some with an & i.e. events & entertainment. My script imports these categories and gets the ID of each using its name. i.e.: $cat_id = array(get_cat_id($linearray[0]),get_cat_id($linearray[1]),get_cat_id($linearray[2]),get_cat_id($linearray[3])); My script then adds a post to wp using these category ID's. My problem is that categories from my import with the & are not imported. These same categories (when an email notice is sent) break the email at the &. Is there a simple workaround to this?

  • Get category count for a category where only the child categories have products

    - by Matthew
I'm having problems getting a count for a category collection that will include products in any of that categories children. However I don't want just a full count I want to filter that count by a product collection (so only include products in the count that appear in the product collection)... Any suggestions? Code to get a filtered product collection (filtered by a multiselect attribute) /** @var $attribute Mage_Eav_Model_Entity_Attribute */ $valuesCollection = Mage::getResourceModel('eav/entity_attribute_option_collection') ->setAttributeFilter($attribute->getId()) ->addFieldToFilter('value', array ('like' => $make)) ->addFieldToSelect('option_id') ->setStoreFilter(0, false); $set = array(); foreach($valuesCollection as $option){ $set[] = $option->getData('option_id'); } $_productCollection = Mage::getResourceModel('catalog/product_collection') ->addAttributeToFilter('sparex_makemodel', array('in' => $set ) ) ->addAttributeToSelect('*'); I'm getting the child categories for a given category like thus.. $childCats = Mage::getModel('catalog/category')->load(2)->getChildrenCategories(); Now none of these categories have products assigned to them, however their children (or children of children) do. I want to produce a count for these categories that includes the child categories but only where the products are in my filtered collection.

  • How can I search in transcluded categories?

    - by Wikis
I want to add functionality to a MediaWiki wiki to search in specific categories: Platform 1 Platform 2 etc. So I created a template which, based on a certain field, assigns pages to those categories. The template was already included on most of these pages. So now most pages are in either: Category:Platform 1 or Category:Platform 2 Then I thought I just need to add incategory to the search and I'm done, as described on the Wikipedia page. But then I reread it and to my horror discovered: incategory: – using the incategory: parameter returns pages in a given category (as long as the pages are directly categorized, and not transcluded through templates). Eeeek! Is there any other way to search even in transcluded templates? Or any other way of resolving this?

  • Creating a custom categories widget

    - by Scott B
The code below is an attempt to take the WP_Widget_Categories class and use it as the basis for a custom categories widget based on the default categories widget. I'm getting no output however and the widget is not showing up in the "Available Widgets" listing. What am I doing wrong? <?php /* Plugin Name: My Categories Widget Version: 1.0 */ class MY_Widget_Categories extends WP_Widget { function MY_Widget_Categories() { $widget_ops = array( 'classname' => 'widget_categories', 'description' => __( "A list or dropdown of categories" ) ); $this->WP_Widget('categories', __('Categories'), $widget_ops); } function widget( $args, $instance ) { extract( $args ); $title = apply_filters('widget_title', empty( $instance['title'] ) ? __( 'Categories' ) : $instance['title']); $c = $instance['count'] ? • Add the categories selector widget to the PAGE editor with predefined categories listed?

    - by Scott B
The following code will add the categories selector widget to the WordPress Page editor interface... add_action('admin_menu', 'my_post_categories_meta_box'); function my_post_categories_meta_box() { add_meta_box('categorydiv', __('Categories'), 'post_categories_meta_box', 'page', 'side', 'core'); } What I would like to do is to figure out how to modify the resulting category listing so that it only contains a predefined list of hard coded categories that I define. Since I'm adding this via my custom theme, it will only appear on the page editor when my theme is active on the site. And I have some specific "handler" categories that my theme installs into the site and later uses to determine layout elements.

  • Adding Categories to my Articles in my Rails app (Small Help)

    - by user214038
I'm currently building a semi-small ruby app for a project. The problem I'm currently facing is the following: I want to be Able to fit the Article into the Categories. I've already accomplish this by having two models. An article model with a foreign key of category_id and my Category model with the name of the category. With a has_one and belogs_to relationship. (We're assuming you can only fit an article into one category). Here's the piece of code. This is the new method, where i create a new article and load up all the categories. def new @article = Article.new @categories = Category.find(:all) end The problem comes when i try to get the category from a combo box in order to insert it along with the article. This is the combo box code : f.select(:category_id,@categories) And this is the create method: def create @category = Category.find(params[:id]) @article = @category.articles.new(params[:article]) if @article.save flash[:notice] = "Article Submitted Sucessfully" redirect_to user_path else render :action = 'new' end end I believe that the problem i have is in this line when i try to load up the selected category "@category = Category.find(params[:id])" because whenever i hardcode the this line into @category = Category.find(1) It Works perfectly

  • Display ALL categories that a product belongs to in Magento

    - by Jason
I am conceptualizing a new Magento site which will have products that are included in several categories. What I am wondering is if I can display all categories a product is in on the product detail page. I know that it is possible to get the category, but is it possible to display a list of all categories which a product belongs to? For example, a shirt may be included in the Shirts category, as well as in Designers and Summer. Ideally, I would like to be able to display the following: More from:    Men Shirts    Men Designers Barnabé Hardy    Men Summer

  • related categories - database design

    - by mike
Hello! I'm looking for a little database design advice... I have a spreadsheet with a few columns in it. Column 1 being a list of categories and the rest being related categories(to the category in column 1). I'm trying to figure out what the best way to setup the tables would be... My thought so far is to have a table that just lists the categories then have a table with 2 columns that holds the id of the category and the id of a related category.... Would this be the best way to do this? Any better ideas?

  • What are some good Server Name Themes/Categories [duplicate]

    - by Arian
This question already has an answer here: What are the most manageable and interesting server naming schemes being used? [closed] 17 answers I need to create a naming scheme for my servers, but I am having a hard time come by a good category list to go by. I want something with an abundance of names to use, so as I scale my server count I won't run out. Some that I have heard being used is greek philosophers (plato) planet names (saturn, mercury, venus, mars) Mario Characters (mario, luigi, yoshi, toad) I feel like the above categories are kind of limited. What are some good naming scheme that you use?

  • Linking Listbox child categories

    - by Gerardo Abdo
Hello I have few monhts working with aspx, and now I'm developing a shopping cart website. For the employee to upload the products on the DB, every product needs to be linked to a category and sub category, and sub-sub category, and so on. Sometimes the sub-sub categories are up to 5. For example Electronics-TV-LCD-Samsung-40 inches. First, What I would like to identify is if the SQL table has the apporpiate structure. I have 3 columns Id, Description, Parent_Id. Categories with Parent Id=0 is used for the top ones. Is this the best way to do it? Then I want to use the ListBox control to select main Categories, and once it is selected, filled a second listbox with its childs and so on. Do I need to query SQL DB everytime the change event happens? I heard about linq but have not used yet, What would be your suggestion to do this. If you have seen a sample to understand it better will be appreciated. Thank you

  • how to select categories for user generated content site?

    - by Frederik Creemers
On the site I'm building, users can create tutorials. I want the users to be able to create tutorials on as many subjects as possible, but still have some preset categories. What's the best way to select these categories? The reason I don't just let users add keywords, and use these for categorization, is because users gain experience points in a certain subject when their tutorial is liked by someone, and in a similar way the Stack Exchange network does, create communities around these subjects. I will give visiters the possibility to suggest new categories. here are the categories that I'm thinking of at the moment: health gardening cooking technology science & math music visual art

  • Jquery Randomizing within Categories

    - by David Chase
Hi, so here is my question in a situation if you will. i have 6 items in div classes which correspond to 3 categories something like this class ="boat" class ="car" class ="bike" class ="blueboat" class ="redcar" class ="greenbike" so is there a jquery/javascript approach with .addClass where when someone clicks on the button "Randomize" it addClass .mine to each one of the 3 categories ie blueboat.mine and redcar.mine and bike.mine but not boat or car or greenbike because they are in the same category? or another situation rather than .addClass use a jquery/javascript so when "Randomize" is clicked to randomly show 3 out of 6 items one in each category of boat, car, bike and hide the rest blueboat, redcar, greenbike. in this situation all 6 items are on the page when document is ready but with the randomize only 3 are left one from each category. please let me know if anyone has any ideas or needs further clarification any help is greatly appreciated. thank you -david

  • Create Marker Categories & Display Markers on Click Only

    - by MizAkita
I am trying to create marker categories and display markers on click... For example, "Eat", "Banks", "Places of Interest" and clicking on them would produce only the markers in those categories. You can see it live HERE Here is a code snippet: //<![CDATA[ //<![CDATA[ var map = null; var gmarkers = []; var gicons = []; var icon = []; function initialize() { var myOptions = { zoom: 13, center: new google.maps.LatLng(37.979183,-121.302381), mapTypeControl: true, mapTypeControlOptions: {style: google.maps.MapTypeControlStyle.DROPDOWN_MENU}, navigationControl: true, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP } map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function() { infowindow.close(); }); // Add markers to the map // Set up three markers with info windows ///////////////////////// EATS ////////////////////////////////////////////// var point = new google.maps.LatLng(37.988012,-121.311901); var image = 'icons/orangepointer.png'; var marker = createMarker(point,'<div style="width:205"><center><img src="icons/tigeryogurt.jpg" /></center><br><b>Tiger Yogurt</b><small><br>4343 Pacific Avenue<br>209.952.6042<br><br><a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=&daddr=' + point.toUrlValue() + '" target ="_blank">Get Directions<\/a></small><\/div>', image); // this will be gmarkers[0] var point = new google.maps.LatLng(37.987054,-121.311655); var image = 'icons/orangepointer.png'; var marker = createMarker(point,'<div style="width:205"><center><img src="icons/mwbakery.jpg" /></center><br><b>M&W Bakery<br>Cakes & Sandwiches</b><small><br>4343 Pacific Avenue<br>209.473.3828<br><br>On the web visit:<br><a href="http://www.mandwdutchamericanbakery.com" target ="_blank">MandWDutchAmericanBakery.com<\/a><br><br><a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=&daddr=' + point.toUrlValue() + '" target ="_blank">Get Directions<\/a></small><\/div>', image); // this will be gmarkers[1] Currently, all markers display. • Feature categories for a social network

    - by mafutrct
Not sure if this question belongs on SO. Anyway, please let me try to clarify the issue. I'm currently planning a social program. It's basically a chat server with the major additional ability to play games. I'd like to create categories of features that are offered to users. My question is, are there any useful standard feature categories? Does not have to be specific to my case, I'm interested in the general case as well. Just to give you an idea of what I'm thinking: functional e.g. play games social e.g. chatting operational e.g. 24/7 service availability I'm entirely unsure if this is the right place to ask, if you know of any better site to ask please don't hesitate to add a comment.

  • Wordpress Custom Themes > How to script Categories, Tags and Excerpt options to appear on "page" edi

    - by Scott B
I'm using custom WordPress categories for some probably unintended functions, I will admit (things like marking a post no/index just by adding it to my custom "no-index" category, etc). But it sucks that WordPress does not enable pages with all the little extras you get with posts. For example, while the post editor gives you convenient access to Tags, Categories, and a Post excerpt field, pages get left out in the cold. I'd like to know if its possible to add the These items to the Post editor via add_action() directive from a custom theme.

I have a similar layout as below in Categories table. public List<Category> CategoryData = new List(new Category[] { new Category{ CategoryId = 1, Name = "Fruit", ParentCategoryId = null}, new Category{ CategoryId = 2, Name = "Vegetables", ParentCategoryId = null}, new Category{ CategoryId = 3, Name = "Apples", ParentCategoryId = 1}, new Category{ CategoryId = 4, Name = "Bananas", ParentCategoryId = 1}, new Category{ CategoryId = 5, Name = "Cucumber", ParentCategoryId = 2}, new Category{ CategoryId = 6, Name = "Onions", ParentCategoryId = 2} ); } The above should return something like Fruit (parent) "===Apples, Bananas (child) Vegetables (parent) "===Cucumber, Onions (child) I need to be able to pass this as some kind of 'grouped' (grouped by parentid) collection to my View. How to do this?

  • Accessing WordPress categories from outside

    - by John
So, I have a client that needs all the categories from their blog to be displayed on their homepage. The WordPress blog is in its own directory, /blog. I have tried the following code (taken from a tutorial, I changed the path to fit clients site): <?php // Include WordPress define('WP_USE_THEMES', false); require('blog/wp-load.php'); query_posts('showposts=1'); ?> But this code just redirects me to the install file of WordPress (it actually wrongly redirects me). It goes to http://www.site.com/wp-admin/install.php instead of http://www.site.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php. Is there a better way than this method? I would pull in the categories from the database table, but I do not currently have access. Thanks!
