  • Frequent Netbeans freezes

    I'm using Netbeans 6.8 for PHP projects located on network drives in a Windows network. Frequently, the IDE gets really slow (like a temporary freeze) to a point where it's totally unusable. At first it seems like a total crash, but after some time (might be sevaral minutes) the IDE works again as before. This happens with Netbeans 6.7 as well as 6.8 on my Windows XP 32-bit installation. I'm using Java 1.6.0_13. This is a fresh Netbeans installation, so it can't have to do with too many temp files. I assume it has to do with the frequent code checks that Netbeans does. It's probably not very fast when doing this over the network connection. But it can't be that this feature renders the IDE useless...     What is the best way to document changes in a function with PHPDoc? Something like @change 2010.20.16 user added feature x @change 2010.20.26 user added feature y would be great. But assume there's no @change option... If i add it anyways, what will PHPDoc do with it? Or is there a better / more correct way to document function changes?

  • translation/rotation of a HUD against a camera using vectors in Euclidian 3D space

    i've got 2 points in 3D space: the camera position and the camera lookAt. the camera movement is restricted akin to typical first person shooter games. you can move the cam freely, tilt horizontally and up to 90 degrees vertically, but not roll. so now i want to draw a HUD to the screen, on which i can move the mouse freely, with the position of the cursor correctly translating into 3D space. the easy part was to draw something directly in front of the camera. V0 = camPos; V1 = lookAt; V2 = lookAt-camPos; normalize V2; mutiply V2 according to camera frustum V3 = V0+V2 draw something at V3 now the part i don't get: i could use V3 and add to that the rotations of the cam combined with the x/y of the mouse cursor, somehow, right? that's what i want.

  • Catch database exception in Kohana

    I'm using Kohana 2. I would like to catch a database exception to prevent an error page when no connection to the server can be established. The error displayed is system/libraries/drivers/Database/Mysql.php [61]: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 110 The database server is not reachable at all at this point. I'm doing this from a model. I tried both public function __construct() { // load database library into $this->db try { parent::__construct(); } catch (Exception $e) { die('Database error occured'); } } as well as try { $hoststatus = $this->db->query('SELECT x FROM y WHERE z;'); } catch (Exception $e) { die('Database error occured'); } ...but none of them seemed to work. It seems as if no exception gets passed on from the main model. Is there another way to catch the database error and use my own error handling?

  • Key/Value pyqt QComboBox

    I want to use a QComboBox with the "keys" and "values" from a tuple similar to the ones used in a django models. For example I have the following structure for a person's sex. SEX_CHOICES = (('M', 'Male'), ('F', 'Female')) The first item of the tuple contains the code of the sex that is stored in the database, and the second one the text that I want to display in the QComboBox as an item. Is there a way in wich I could set the QComboBox value as M and it displays Male. An also when the user select the element Male I could get the selected value as M. Thanks

  • Internet Explorer background-color hover problem

    I have a strange Problem with table formating using IE 7. My table looks like this: In IE, when using border-collapse, the borders don't get displayed correctly. That's why I used this fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;} When hovering over the row, it gets highlighted with CSS: .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } Now, in IE 7, when moving the mouse from the top to the bottom of the list, every row gets highlighted correctly and no problems happen. But if I move my mouse pointer from the bottom of the list to the top, every second row seems to loose the border. Can someone explain what the problem is, and how to solve it?   • jQuery slideDown + CSS Floats

    I'm using a HTML Table with several rows. Every second row - containing details about the preceding row - is hidden using CSS. When clicking the first row, the second row gets showed using jQuery show(). This is quite nice, but I would prefer the slideDown-Effect. The problem is, inside the details row, there are two floating DIVs, one floating on the left, and one on the right. Now if i slideDown the previously hidden row, the contained DIVs behave strange and "jump around".   • Execute a batch script from Firefox

    I have written an intranet application from which you can directly connect to a virtual machine by clicking on a RDP-button. The click calls a .bat file, which opens the connection. With IE, this is no problem, as you can choose to directly execute the batch file. But with Firefox, I can only download the script, and have to start it manually afterwards. Is there a way to trust the intranet domain (about:config?) so Firefox allows it to execute scripts directly? Or is there an even better (easier) way to start an RDP connection from Firefox?

    I'm testing CeGCC, that is a gcc built to cross-compile applications to Windows CE devices. As everyone do to test compilers, I've done a Hello World program: #include <stdio.h> int main() { printf("Hello, World!"); return 0; } As I'm using Windows now(because this is my other laptop), I'm using Cygwin.     I've just bought a new laptop for me on the travel, then on my free time, I've started to test MinGW on it by trying to compile my own OS that is written in C++, then I've created all the files needed and the kernel.cpp: extern "C" void _main(struct multiboot_data* mbd, unsigned int magic); void _main( struct multiboot_data* mbd, unsigned int magic ) { char * boot_loader_name =(char*) ((long*)mbd)[16]; /* Print a letter to screen to see everything is working: */ unsigned char *videoram = (unsigned char *) 0xb8000; videoram[0] = 65; /* character 'A' */ videoram[1] = 0x07; /* forground, background color. */ } And tried to compile it with g++ G: g++ -o C:\kernel.o -c kernel.cpp -Wall -Wextra -Werror -nostdlib -nostartfiles -nodefaultlibs kernel.cpp: In function `void _main(multiboot_data*, unsigned int)': kernel.cpp:8: warning: unused variable 'boot_loader_name' kernel.cpp: At global scope: kernel.cpp:4: warning: unused parameter 'magic' G: But it don't create any binary file at C:/. What can I do?

    I'm now taking a look at the PocketC powerful tool, but there is an fileopen function, that generates a integer called filehandle, that is used for most of the File I/O operations of PocketC, than I want to know how to discover the int filehandle from the function? Here is my example function that I'm using at my program: fileopen("\test.txt", 0, 0x00000000); Description of int filehandle: Integer used for file operations, used as a pointer to the fileopen instruction.

  • Asp.net HttpWebResponse - how can I not depend on WebException for flow control?

    I need to check whether the request will return a 500 Server Internal Error or not (so getting the error is expected). I'm doing this: HttpWebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(url) as HttpWebRequest; request.Method = "GET"; HttpWebResponse response = request.GetResponse() as HttpWebResponse; if (response.StatusCode == HttpStatusCode.OK) return true; else return false; But when I get the 500 Internal Server Error, a WebException is thrown, and I don't want to depend on it to control the application flow - how can this be done?

    Hello, I learning Objective-C in Linux(Ubuntu), but when i tryed to compile my application that needs the Foundation headers i got an error saying that the file cannot be found, but i have installed the GNUstep development package(gnustep-devel).
