  • Automated fake mailbox

    Hello, i'm about to start the development of a new automated-email application. The idea is that customers (or other external users) send emails to a mailbox and then an automated process will read them, extract their information and insert it into some database. It's a requirement that the emails have an standard format in order to be parsed (standard subject, etc.). The obvious thing to do would be to set up a process that periodically pools an ordinary mailbox, through pop-3 for example, processing the messages it finds. However, it would be for me much nicer to be able to process the emails as they arrive. I was wondering then, is there any way to set up a process that acts as a fake email-box? do you know about any open-source implementation of something like that I can extend? I would prefer something already written in c#. Thanks in advance for your help, bernabé

    i got an idea for making php template engine fast and user friendly but i'm not sure if it's good or bad. the idea is to create a fake template engine: creating a template editor in control panel that let user see something like this: <html> <head> <title>{title}</title> </head> <body> {content} </body> </html> what the editor actually does is to replace all php code like <?php echo $this->title; ?> to user friendly {title} but it's not really replacing it just in the view when the user save the template the template actually saved as fast pure php template. the question is this a good idea or bad ? your answers is highly appreciated.

  • Fake Mouse (C# or C++)

    I need a way to fake that a mouse is connected. The problem: My HTPC (Windows 8) has no mouse connected and I wrote a program to simulate mouse input using my Xbox 360 Controller. This works just fine, the only problem is, that there is no cursor visible (I can move it, but I cant see it). My guess is, that Windows doesn't show a cursor when there is no mouse connected, so I need a way to pretend that a mouse is connected to the PC. Of course, if you know another way to make the cursor visible I would gladly take this solution as well. Regards, Hidden

  • Fake location for the device (custom)

    I know there are a few apps out there to fake a devices location but specifically what i want to do is use a location grabbed from a url. What direction should I look for setting the location on the device. The scenario i have is a jailbroken Wi-Fi iPad tethered to a nexus one. The nexus one would host a background service that when a request is recieved, it would respond with gps data of its current location. The jailbroken ipad would have a background service that either updated the location on a time interval, or on a per request basis (depending on how i have to implement it) by submitting a request to the tethered nexus one service. That data would then be set on the ipad and an application requesting location would get the service data. The goal is to recreate the location faker app's functionality with the exception of the spoofed location comes from the nexus ones gps via the service but i have not yet found out how to set the location data for the device. I can ofcourse implement this in a per app basis but it would be awesome to have any app be able to use it.

    Hey! I've got a quick question about the jQuery UI DatePicker. When I load the page, defaultDate: 0 will work fine with selecting the current day's date. I would like to create a 'fake' click on the date so it will execute my JavaScript function and retrieve information from the database.     I have several compiled python modules; they are put into a single .so (to avoid runtime linking, there are cross-module symbol dependencies), but a number of symlinks points to this .so: libfoo.so -> liball.so libbar.so -> liball.so liball.so This way, I can do import foo (Python will call initfoo() defined in liball.so) or import bar (calls initbar()). I am wondering if this approach will work on Windows?

  • Fake "user initiated" <audio> tag on iPad

    I know that Apple's docs say that an mp3 within an <audio tag on iPhone OS can't be played without user intervention (they cite bandwidth concerns, totally reasonable). However, has anyone succeeded in faking a user action to play the audio? Perhaps faking events to off screen native audio controls with JavaScript? I'm using jPlayer right now which works great on desktop Safari, but is silent on my iPad. I'm prototyping a touch interface using WebKit on the iPad, and audio is an integral part of the experience, so yes, I do have a good reason to want to override this convention.     I just installed the Nfc Demo from google, but it doesn´t read the information from the Tag.- It just provides some fakeTag information. Has anybody an idea, where I can change the sample to read from the nfc Tag? Or has somebody a working nfc demo for the nexus?     Hello, some journals require each figure to be submitted in a separate document. However, they do want the figure legends to be listed in the main document. I was thus hoping to do something along these lines: \section{Figure Legends} \begin{description} \item[Figure \ref{fig:fireAntBiology}] \label{fig:fireAntBiology} bla bla ants \end{description} This would still permit to \ref the figure from the main text. However, it doesn't work (The \ref returns the number of section "Figure Legends"). The following correctly gives a different number to each "figure": \item[Figure \ref{fig:fireAntBiology}] \begin{figure} \caption{\label{fig:fireAntBiology}} \end{figure} bla bla ants However, it also places empty figure floats throughout the document. A solution should be straightforward. What am I missing? Any ideas? Thanks! yannick

  • Fake serial communication under Linux

    I have an application where I want to simulate the connection between a device and a "modem". The device will be connected to a serial port and will talk to the software modem through that. For testing purposes I want to be able to use a mock software device to test send and receive data. Example Python code device = Device() modem = Modem() device.connect(modem) device.write("Hello") modem_reply = device.read() Now, in my final app I will just pass /dev/ttyS1 or COM1 or whatever for the application to use. But how can I do this in software? I am running Linux and application is written in Python. I have tried making a FIFO (mkfifo ~/my_fifo) and that does work, but then I'll need one FIFO for writing and one for reading. What I want is to open ~/my_fake_serial_port and read and write to that. I have also lpayed with the ptymodule, but can't get that to work either. I can get a master and slave file descriptor from pty.openpty() but trying to read or write to them only causes IOError Bad File Descriptor error message.

    hi there, just a question in between. a friend of mine brougth me a laptop that does not work anymore and wanted me to check whether i can do something. she told me its windows 7, and startup screen and login screen look like it. howevere, as she gets a bluescreen on startup it is only possible to boot in safe mode where the system pretends to be windows xp sp3. the system also may have 1 gig of ram but the system itself states that it has 954 mb of ram which is a value i´ve never seen before. is there everything corrupt from operating system to hardware, or am i just a newbie that does not know that windows 7 pretends to be winxp sp3 in safe mode? or is this laptop just the victim of an illegal, crazy copy of xp sold as win7? maybe some strange chinese stuff? i also recognized that the startup screen of Outlook Express is pronounced as "Outllok Express" (no typo) i´m kinda confused, maybe someone could put light into this ;) thanks

  • Disadvantages of a fake phpMyAdmin honeypot that causes ip blacklisting and robots.txt disallow/exclusion of the honeypot?

    I'm trying to figure out whether I should set up a honeypot system with a fake phpMyAdmin (site gets hits all the time with people spidering for insecurities with that app). My thought was to create a honeypot php script that would mimic a phpMyAdmin login, and then blacklist ips that hit that url (and aren't already whitelisted). I would then add the appropriate urls to the robots.txt so that spiders that actually respect my robots.txt wouldn't be caught by the blacklist. Are there disadvantages to this approach, do legit robots sometimes not respect robots.txt in certain circumstances, are there any problems with this that I should consider in advance?

    Hi, i have a question about unit testing. say i have a controller with one create method which puts a new customer in the database: //code a bit shortened public actionresult Create(Formcollection formcollection){ client c = nwe client(); c.Name = formcollection["name"]; ClientService.Save(c); { Clientservice would call a datalayer object and save it in the database. What i do now is create a database testscript and set my database in a know condition before testing. So when i test this method in the unit test, i know that there must be one more client in the database, and what it's name is. In short: ClientController cc = new ClientController(); cc.Create(new FormCollection (){name="John"}); //i know i had 10 clients before assert.areEqual(11, ClientService.GetNumberOfClients()); //the last inserted one is John assert.areEqual("John", ClientService.GetAllClients()[10].Name); So i've read that unit testing should not be hitting the database, i've setup an IOC for the database classes, but then what? I can create a fake database class, and make it do nothing. But then ofcourse my assertions will not work because if i say GetNumberOfClients() it will alwasy return X because it has no interaction with the fake database class used in the Create Method. I can also create a List of Clients in the fake database class, but as there will be two different instance created (one in the controller action and one in the unit test), they will have no interaction. What is the way to make this unit test work without a database?
