  • Mod_wsgi versus fapws3 - Django

    - by RadiantHex
Hi folks, is there a difference between using FAPWS3 and MOD_WSGI when dealing with Django? FAPWS3 seems alot faster when serving requests toward Python scripts. I would like to know if I'm missing out anything. :) Any ideas?

  • How to manually start and re-start Apache with mod_wsgi powering a password protected Python WSGI app?

    - by Mahmoud Abdelkader
I'm working on a project where I have to meet some regulatory requirements that require at least 3 out of 5 authorized users to start a backend web service that handles very sensitive information using pre-assigned passwords. Right now, the prototype has been approved and is running using Python's wsgiref.simple_server(), which I have programmed to manually prompt for the passwords. Now that the prototype has been approved, I have to migrate the web application to a production environment where I will need to run it behind Apache and mod_wsgi. I have two questions: Right now, I use a thin Python wrapper around expect to programmatically allow for remote password entry. How do I get Apache to prompt me for a password before starting? Will this have to be in the app.wsgi script that's executed by mod_wsgi? How would that work since Apache daemonizes, and thus, has no stdin! Will I have to worry about some type of code reload? Apache probably has some maximum number of requests before it kills and restarts another worker process, but, would this require a password prompt as well?

  • django+mod_wsgi on virtualenv not working

    - by jwesonga
I've just finished setting up a django app on virtualenv, deployment went smoothly using a fabric script, but now the .wsgi is not working, I've tried every variation on the internet but no luck. My .wsgi file is: import os import sys import django.core.handlers.wsgi # put the Django project on sys.path root_path = os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(__file__) + '../') sys.path.insert(0, os.path.join(root_path, 'kcdf')) sys.path.insert(0, root_path) os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'kcdf.settings' application = django.core.handlers.wsgi.WSGIHandler() I keep getting the same error: [Sun Apr 18 12:44:30 2010] [error] [client 41.215.123.159] mod_wsgi (pid=16938): Exception occurred processing WSGI script '/home/kcdfweb/webapps/kcdf.web/releases/current/kcdf/apache/kcdf.wsgi'. • CentOS: make python 2.6 see django

    - by NP
In a harrowing attempt to get mod_wsgi to run on CentOS 5.4, I've added python 2.6 as an optional library following the instructions here. The configuration seems fine except that when trying to ping the server the Apache log prints this error: mod_wsgi (pid=20033, process='otalo', application='127.0.0.1|'): Loading WSGI script '...django.wsgi'. • HgWebDir push permission denied error

    - by Gregg
I have a new Fedora 12 server that I am attempting to set up Mercurial on. I have yum installed mercurial, and most things seem to work fine. However, after setting up hgwebdir.cgi through apache, I am unable to do an hg push to the only repo currently being hosted. The error I get back is: searching for changes abort: HTTP Error 500: Permission denied: .hg/store/lock httpd is running as user apache UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD root 1691 1 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1694 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1695 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1696 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1697 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1698 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1699 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1700 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd apache 1701 1691 0 13:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/httpd and I set permissions so that the apache user owns the whole repo and everything. Some possible quirks in how I've set this up... hgwebdir.cgi is sitting in /var/www/cgi-bin and the repo is a child of /opt/hg. I turned off suexec as well, and this doesn't seem to clear up the issue. The only line I added in the apache config to get hgwebdir running is: ScriptAlias /hg "/var/www/cgi-bin/hgwebdir.cgi" The hgweb.config is also in /var/www/cgi-bin and it's contents are: [collections] /opt/hg = /opt/hg [trusted] users = * [web] baseurl = /hg push_ssl = false allow_push = * The repo browser is working fine, it's just push that doesn't work. Apache error_log doesn't have anything in about this error at all.

  • apache+mod_wsgi configuration for django project(s) on a quad core

    - by Stefano
I've been experiment quite some time with a "typical" django setting upon nginx+apache2+mod_wsgi+memcached(+postgresql) (reading the doc and some questions on SO and SF, see comments) Since I'm still unsatisfied with the behavior (definitely because of some bad misconfiguration on my part) I would like to know what a good configuration would look like with these hypotesis: Quad-Core Xeon 2.8GHz 8 gigs memory several django projects (anything special related to this?) These are excerpts form my current confs: apache2 SetEnv VHOST null #WSGIPythonOptimize 2 <VirtualHost *:8082> ServerName subdomain.domain.com ServerAlias www.domain.com SetEnv VHOST subdomain.domain AddDefaultCharset UTF-8 ServerSignature Off LogFormat "%{X-Real-IP}i %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-agent}i\"" custom ErrorLog /home/project1/var/logs/apache_error.log CustomLog /home/project1/var/logs/apache_access.log custom AllowEncodedSlashes On WSGIDaemonProcess subdomain.domain user=www-data group=www-data threads=25 WSGIScriptAlias / /home/project1/project/wsgi.py WSGIProcessGroup %{ENV:VHOST} </VirtualHost> wsgi.py import os import sys # setting all the right paths.... _realpath = os.path.realpath(os.path.dirname(__file__)) _public_html = os.path.normpath(os.path.join(_realpath, '../')) sys.path.append(_realpath) sys.path.append(os.path.normpath(os.path.join(_realpath, 'apps'))) sys.path.append(os.path.normpath(_public_html)) sys.path.append(os.path.normpath(os.path.join(_public_html, 'libs'))) sys.path.append(os.path.normpath(os.path.join(_public_html, 'django'))) os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'settings' import django.core.handlers.wsgi _application = django.core.handlers.wsgi.WSGIHandler() def application(environ, start_response): """ Launches django passing over some environment (domain name) settings """ application_group = environ['mod_wsgi.application_group'] """ wsgi application group is required. It's also used to generate the HOST.DOMAIN.TLD:PORT parameters to pass over """ assert application_group fields = application_group.replace('|', '').split(':') server_name = fields[0] os.environ['WSGI_APPLICATION_GROUP'] = application_group os.environ['WSGI_SERVER_NAME'] = server_name if len(fields) > 1 : os.environ['WSGI_PORT'] = fields[1] splitted = server_name.rsplit('.', 2) assert splitted >= 2 splited.reverse() if len(splitted) > 0 : os.environ['WSGI_TLD'] = splitted[0] if len(splitted) > 1 : os.environ['WSGI_DOMAIN'] = splitted[1] if len(splitted) > 2 : os.environ['WSGI_HOST'] = splitted[2] return _application(environ, start_response)` folder structure in case it matters (slightly shortened actually) /home/www-data/projectN/var/logs /project (contains manage.py, wsgi.py, settings.py) /project/apps (all the project ups are here) /django /libs Please forgive me in advance if I overlooked something obvious. My main question is about the apache2 wsgi settings. Are those fine? Is 25 threads an /ok/ number with a quad core for one only django project? Is it still ok with several django projects on different virtual hosts? Should I specify 'process'? Any other directive which I should add? Is there anything really bad in the wsgi.py file? I've been reading about potential issues with the standard wsgi.py file, should I switch to that? Or.. should this conf just be running fine, and I should look for issues somewhere else? So, what do I mean by "unsatisfied": well, I often get quite high CPU WAIT; but what is worse, is that relatively often apache2 gets stuck. It just does not answer anymore, and has to be restarted. I have setup a monit to take care of that, but it ain't a real solution. I have been wondering if it's an issue with the database access (postgresql) under heavy load, but even if it was, why would the apache2 processes get stuck? Beside these two issues, performance is overall great. I even tried New Relic and got very good average results.

  • Controlling clone access to multiple mercurial repos served via hgwebdir.cgi

    - by chrislawlor
I'm trying to host multiple hg repositories to use for my clients. I need to control access to each repository individually - not just push access, but clone as well. I've got an .htaccess set which requires authentication globally: AuthUserFile /path/to/hgweb.passwd AuthGroupFile /dev/null AuthName "Chris Lawlor Client Mercurial Repositories" AuthType Basic <Limit GET POST PUT> Require valid-user </Limit> <FilesMatch "\.(htaccess|passwd|config|bak)$"> Order Allow,Deny Deny from all </FilesMatch> Then in each repository, I've got a .hg/hgrc file requiring a valid user [web] allow_push = <comma seperated user list> This almost does what I need. The problem is that I need to add ALL my clients to hgweb.passwd, which gives them clone access to ALL of the repositories. The only solution I can think of is to have another .htaccess and .passwd file in EACH repository. I don't really want to do that though, seems a little convoluted. I can already specify a list of authorized users for each repository in that repos' hgrc file with the allow_push setting. If only there were an allow_clone setting as well... All the documentation I've found for hgwebdir.cgi is incomplete. I've read: http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/HgWebDirStepByStep http://hgbook.red-bean.com/read/collaborating-with-other-people.html#sec:collab:cgi http://hgbook.red-bean.com/read/collaborating-with-other-people.html And others. I've yet to find a comprehensive list of hgrc settings. I guess this is as much an Apache question than a mercurial question. Unless I can find a better approach, I'll be going with a seperate .htaccess and .passwd file for each repo. This is a virtual host on Webfaction if it matters - set up roughly like this http://docs.webfaction.com/software/mercurial.html

  • Django running on Apache+WSGI and apache SSL proxying

    - by Lessfoe
Hi all, I'm trying to rewrite all requests for my Django server running on apache+WSGI ( inside my local network) and configured as the WSGI's wiki how to, except that I set a virtualhost for it. The server which from I want to rewrite requests is another apache server listening on port 80. I can manage it to work well if I don't try to enable SSL connection as the required way to connect. But I need all requests to Django server encrypted with SSL so I generally used this directive to achieve this ( on my public webserver ): Alias /dirname "/var/www/dirname" SSLVerifyClient none SSLOptions +FakeBasicAuth SSLRequireSSL AuthName "stuff name" AuthType Basic AuthUserFile /etc/httpd/djangoserver.passwd require valid-user # redirect all request to django.test:80 RewriteEngine On RewriteRule (.*)$ http://django.test/$1 [P] This configuration works if I try to load a specific page trough the external server from my browser. It is not working clicking my django application urls ( even tough the url seems correct when I put my mouse over). The url my public server is trying to serve use http ( instead of https ) and the directory "dirname" I specified on my apache configuration disappear, so it says that the page was not found. I think it depends on Django and its WSGI handler . Does anybody went trough my same problem? PS: I have already tried to modify the WSGI script . I'm Using Django 1.0.3, Apache 2.2 on a Fedora10 (inside), Apache 2.2 on the public server. Thanks in advance for your help. Fab

  • Right way to have a thread in parallel to django project on wsgi.

    - by Enrico Carlesso
Hi guys. I'm writing a django project, and I need to have a parallel thread which performs certain tasks. The project will be deployed in Apache2.2 with mod_wsgi. Actually my implementation consists on a thread with a while True - Sleep which is called from my django.wsgi file. Is this implementation correct? Two problems raises: does django.wsgi get called only once? Will I have just that instance of the thread running? And second, I need to "manually" visit at least a page to have the Thread run. Is there a workaround? Does anyone has some hints on better solutions? Thanks in advance.

  • Permission issue for apache

    - by Aamir Adnan
Environment Details: Amazon Ec2 Ubuntu 12.04 Django + mod_wsgi + python 2.6 web server: apache2 I have mounted a 10GB ebs volume to an instance to /mnt/ebs1/. After mounting the volume and formatting, I have placed all my project files in /mnt/ebs1/project. the wsgi file is in /mnt/ebs1/project/apache/django.wsgi. The content of wsgi file is: import os, sys sys.path.insert(0, '/mnt/ebs1/project') sys.path.insert(1, '/mnt/ebs1') os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'project.configs.common.settings' import django.core.handlers.wsgi application = django.core.handlers.wsgi.WSGIHandler() My httpd.conf file looks as: LoadModule wsgi_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_wsgi.so WSGIPythonHome /usr/bin/python2.6 WSGIScriptAlias / /mnt/ebs1/project/apache/django.wsgi <Directory /mnt/ebs1/project> Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory /mnt/ebs1/project/apache> Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> Alias /static/ /mnt/ebs1/project/static/ <Directory /mnt/ebs1/project/static> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Directory> The above configurations gives me Forbidden: You don't have permission to access / on this server. I tried to find the user which is running apache using ps aux which is www-data and has group www-data. I have tried to change the ownership of /mnt/ebs1 and its subdirectories using chown -R www-data:www-data /mnt/ebs1 but that still does not solve the problem. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong or have missed?

  • How to run Django 1.3/1.4 on uWSGI on nginx on EC2 (Apache2 works)

    - by Tadeck
I am posting a question on behalf of my administrator. Basically he wants to set up Django app (made on Django 1.3, but will be moving to Django 1.4, so it should not really matter which one of these two will work, I hope) on WSGI on nginx, installed on Amazon EC2. The app runs correctly when Django's development server is used (with ./manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8080 for example), also Apache works correctly. The only problem is with nginx and it looks there is something else wrong with nginx / WSGI or Django configuration. His description is as follows: Server has been configured according to many tutorials, but unfortunately Nginx and uWSGI still do not work with application. ProjectName.py: import os, sys, wsgi os.environ.setdefault("DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE", "ProjectName.settings") from django.core.wsgi import get_wsgi_application application = get_wsgi_application() I run uWSGI by comand: uwsgi -x /etc/uwsgi/apps-enabled/projectname.xml XML file: <uwsgi> <chdir>/home/projectname</chdir> <pythonpath>/usr/local/lib/python2.7</pythonpath> <socket>127.0.0.1:8001</socket> <daemonize>/var/log/uwsgi/proJectname.log</daemonize> <processes>1</processes> <uid>33</uid> <gid>33</gid> <enable-threads/> <master/> <vacuum/> <harakiri>120</harakiri> <max-requests>5000</max-requests> <vhost/> </uwsgi> In logs from uWSGI: *** no app loaded. going in full dynamic mode *** In logs from Nginx: XXX.com [pid: XXX|app: -1|req: -1/1] XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX () {48 vars in 989 bytes} [Date] GET / => generated 46 bytes in 77 m secs (HTTP/1.1 500) 2 headers in 63 bytes (0 switches on core 0) added /usr/lib/python2.7/ to pythonpath. • Make mod_wsgi use python2.7.2 instead of python2.6?

    - by guron
i am running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS and it came pre-packed with python2.6 but i need to replace it with python2.7.2. (The reason is simple, 2.7 has a lot of features backported from 3 ) i had installed python2.7.2 using ./configure make make altinstall the altinstall option installed it, without touching the system default version, to /usr/local/lib/python2.7 and placed the interpreter in /usr/local/bin/python2.7 Then to help mod_wsgi find python2.7 i added the following to /etc/apache2/sites-available/wsgisite WSGIPythonHome /usr/local i start apache and run a test wsgi app BUT i am greeted by python 2.6.5 and not Python2.7 Later i replaced the default python simlink to point to python 2.7 ln -f /usr/local/bin/python2.7 /usr/bin/python Now typing 'python' on the console opens python2.7 but somehow mod_wsgi still picks up python2.6 Next i tried, PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH export PATH then do a quick restart apache, but yet again its python2.6 !! • How to setup Mercurial and hgwebdir on IIS?

I've been looking all over for decent instructions on how to get hgwebdir working on IIS but I haven't found much of worth. There's this "step by step" on the Mercurial wiki, but it's not very good. There's also this and this, but again, I can't find good steps to lead up to where those get started.

  • Accessing php $_SESSION from python (wsgi) - is it possible?

    - by Bill Zimmerman
Hi, I've got a python/WSGI app which needs to check to see if a user has logged on to a PHP web app. The problem is that the PHP app checks if a user has logged on by comparing a value in the $_SESSION variable to a value in the cookie from the user's browser. I would prefer to avoid changing the behavior of the php app if at all possible. My questions: Is there anyway I can access the session variables from within python? Where should I start to look? Are there any obvious security/performance issues I should be aware of when taking this approach?

  • How can you setup multiple WSGI apps on one server?

    - by Shakakai
I'm working on a python based server product where a user can install WSGI-based python apps on their server. I can enforce any restriction on the application structure or format to make this easy. The user workflow would be: browse an app market, showing a list of WSGIpython apps select an app and choose "install" the app would be downloaded from a remote server to the user's server the http server would then have to be configured to start serving that application from the app's id, ex. a blog app with an id of "blog" at "/blog/", so all requests below /blog/ would be seen as root by the blog application. Any suggestions on how to set something like this up? Holler if my flow of consciousness lost you ;)

  • mod_wsgi on Plesk server

    - by Rogue Coder
I've installed mod_wsgi on my Plesk server, but I can't get it to behave the way I'd like. If I add WSGIScriptAlias /python /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/python/test.wsgi To my config file, going to http://domain.com/python/blah triggers my test.wsgi script. However, going to any domain on my server and adding /python triggers my script as well. How can I limit it to one specific domain without breaking anything in Plesk? Right now I've tried this and it doesn't work <Directory /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/python> WSGIApplicationGroup %{GLOBAL} AddHandler wsgi-script .wsgi Options ExecCGI Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory>

  • Deploying Django App with Nginx, Apache, mod_wsgi

    - by JCWong
    I have a django app which can run locally using the standard development environment. I want to now move this to EC2 for production. The django documentation suggests running with apache and mod_wsgi, and using nginx for loading static files. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on an Ec2 box. My Django app, "ddt", contains a subdirectory "apache" with ddt.wsgi import os, sys apache_configuration= os.path.dirname(__file__) project = os.path.dirname(apache_configuration) workspace = os.path.dirname(project) sys.path.append(workspace) sys.path.append('/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/django/') sys.path.append('/home/jeffrey/www/ddt/') os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'ddt.settings' import django.core.handlers.wsgi application = django.core.handlers.wsgi.WSGIHandler() I have mod_wsgi installed from apt. My apache/httpd.conf contains NameVirtualHost *:8080 WSGIScriptAlias / /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/apache/ddt.wsgi WSGIPythonPath /home/jeffrey/www/ddt <Directory /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/apache/> <Files ddt.wsgi> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Files> </Directory> Under apache2/sites-enabled <VirtualHost *:8080> ServerName www.mysite.com ServerAlias mysite.com <Directory /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/apache/> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> LogLevel warn ErrorLog /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/logs/apache_error.log CustomLog /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/logs/apache_access.log combined WSGIDaemonProcess datadriventrading.com user=www-data group=www-data threads=25 WSGIProcessGroup datadriventrading.com WSGIScriptAlias / /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/apache/ddt.wsgi </VirtualHost> If I am correct, these 3 files above should correctly allow my django app to run on port 8080. I have the following nginx/proxy.conf file proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; client_max_body_size 10m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90; proxy_send_timeout 90; proxy_read_timeout 90; proxy_buffer_size 4k; proxy_buffers 4 32k; proxy_busy_buffers_size 64k; proxy_temp_file_write_size 64k; Under nginx/sites-enabled server { listen 80; server_name www.mysite.com mysite.com; access_log /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/logs/nginx_access.log; error_log /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/logs/nginx_error.log; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; include /etc/nginx/proxy.conf; } location /media/ { root /home/jeffrey/www/ddt/; } } If I am correct these two files should setup nginx to take requests on the HTTP port 80, but then direct requests to apache which is running the django app on port 8080. If i go to mysite.com, all I see is Welcome to Nginx! Any advice for how to debug this?

  • Graphite not running

    - by River
I'm currently trying to install graphite 0.9.9 on a gentoo box using these instructions from the graphite wiki. Essentially, it fronts graphite using apache and mod_wsgi. Everything seems to have gone well, except that apache / the graphite webapp never seem to return a response to the web browser (the browser continuously waits to load the page). I've turned on the graphite debug info, but the only message in the log files is this, repeated over and over again in info.log (with the pid always changing): Thu Feb 23 01:59:38 2012 :: graphite.wsgi - pid 4810 - reloading search index These instructions have worked for me before to set up graphite on an Ubuntu machine. I suspect that mod_wsgi is dying, but I have confirmed that mod_wsgi works fine when not serving the graphite webapp. This is what my graphite.conf vhost file looks like: WSGISocketPrefix /etc/httpd/wsgi/ <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName # Server name DocumentRoot "/opt/graphite/webapp" ErrorLog /opt/graphite/storage/log/webapp/error.log CustomLog /opt/graphite/storage/log/webapp/access.log common # I've found that an equal number of processes & threads tends # to show the best performance for Graphite (ymmv). WSGIDaemonProcess graphite processes=5 threads=5 display-name='%{GROUP}' inactivity-timeout=120 WSGIProcessGroup graphite WSGIApplicationGroup %{GLOBAL} WSGIImportScript /opt/graphite/conf/graphite.wsgi process-group=graphite application-group=%{GLOBAL} WSGIScriptAlias / /opt/graphite/conf/graphite.wsgi Alias /content/ /opt/graphite/webapp/content/ <Location "/content/"> SetHandler None </Location> # XXX In order for the django admin site media to work you # must change @DJANGO_ROOT@ to be the path to your django # installation, which is probably something like: # /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django Alias /media/ "/usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/django/contrib/admin/media/" <Location "/media/"> SetHandler None </Location> # The graphite.wsgi file has to be accessible by apache. It won't # be visible to clients because of the DocumentRoot though. <Directory /opt/graphite/conf/> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost>

  • Deploying a Django application in a virtual Ubuntu Server

    - by mfsaint
I have a virtualbox machine running Ubuntu Server 10.04LTS. My intention is to this machine to work like a VPS, this way I can learn and prepare for when I get a VPS service. Apache+mod_wsgi for deploying the Django app seems the right choice to me. I have the domain (marianofalcon.com.ar) but nothing else, no DNS. The problem is that I'm pretty lost with all the deployment stuff. I know how to configure mod_wsgi(with the django.wsgi file) and apache(creating a VirtualHost). Something is missing and I don't know what it is. I think that I lack networking skills ant that's the big problem. Trying to host the app on a virtualbox adds some difficulty because I don't know well what IP to use. This is what I've got: file placed at: /etc/apache2/sites-available: NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName www.my-domain.com ServerAlias my-domain.com Alias /media /path/to/my/project/media DocumentRoot /path/to/my/project WSGIScriptAlias / /path/to/your/project/apache/django.wsgi ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined </VirtualHost> django.wsgi file: import os, sys wsgi_dir = os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(__file__)) project_dir = os.path.dirname(wsgi_dir) sys.path.append(project_dir) project_settings = os.path.join(project_dir,'settings') os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'myproject.settings' import django.core.handlers.wsgi application = django.core.handlers.wsgi.WSGIHandler()

  • Mercurial browser on Windows 2003 takes several refreshes before displaying repositories

    - by Tim Murphy
When attempt to browse my Mercurial repositories it usually takes several refreshes before the repository list is displayed. The configuration is as follows: Windows Server 2003 (Dedicated machine hosted by http://www.server4you.com/. Site has anonymous password protection with self-signed SSL. Mercurial 1.5.3 Python 2.6.5 Python for Windows 32 extensions 214 py2.6 isapi-wsgi 0.4.2 The repositories are being served via ISAPI using the standard hgwebdir_wspi.py file (copy to follow). Other problems with the repository server: Before doing a clone/push/etc I have to browse the repositories first otherwise hg on my local machine can not locate the site. I have one a repository with a large changeset that after a minute or so throw error "abort: error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". Will be asking another question for this problem. What can I do to start tracking down this problem? hgwebdir_wsgi.py # Configuration file location hgweb_config = r'C:\Public\Mercurial\WebSite\hgweb.config' # Global settings for IIS path translation path_strip = 0 # Strip this many path elements off (when using url rewrite) path_prefix = 0 # This many path elements are prefixes (depends on the # virtual path of the IIS application). import sys # Adjust python path if this is not a system-wide install #sys.path.insert(0, r'c:\path\to\python\lib') # Enable tracing. • Installing Mod-wsgi 3.3 for apache 2.2 and python 3.2

    - by aaronasterling
I am attempting to install Mod-wsgi 3.3 on an ubuntu 11.10 desktop edition with apache 2.2 and python 3.2 I downloaded the source tarball and extracted it. I configured it using the --with-python=/usr/bin/python3 option to configure. This is the only copy of python3 that I have installed. I then issued the commands make and sudo make install. I attempted to restart apache using sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart and get the following error message: apache2: Syntax error on line 203 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/wsgi.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules /mod_wsgi.so into server: /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_wsgi.so: undefined symbol: PyCObject_FromVoidPtr Action 'configtest' failed. The Apache error log may have more information. ...fail! The error logs only inform us that it's a segfault: ` I checked to make sure that it's linked against the right python library with ldd mod_wsgi.so and got the output linux-gate.so.1 => (0x00d66000) libpython3.2mu.so.1.0 => /usr/lib/libpython3.2mu.so.1.0 (0x0065b000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x00a20000) libc.so.6 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x00110000) libssl.so.1.0.0 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0 (0x0028c000) libcrypto.so.1.0.0 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 (0x0044c000) libffi.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libffi.so.6 (0x002d9000) libz.so.1 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1 (0x00eb3000) libexpat.so.1 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libexpat.so.1 (0x00abe000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x002e0000) libutil.so.1 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libutil.so.1 (0x00c47000) libm.so.6 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libm.so.6 (0x00e24000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x0042c000) It seems to be linking against the python3 library so I'm not sure what the issue is. I have read on another question that mod-python can present problems however it was never installed. I saw that the directive WSGIPythonHome can be used to point to the correct python version and created a directory /usr/bin/apache2-python/ with a link named python and python3(the name I passed to the configure script) to /usr/bin/python3 This results in the same error. So I'm pretty sure it's using the correct version of python. I am now at a loss. Thanks in advance for any help. update Using the version from the repository I get the following log when I attempt to request a page: [Wed Mar 21 13:21:11 2012] [notice] child pid 5567 exit signal Aborted (6) Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: Unable to get the locale encoding LookupError: no codec search functions registered: can't find encoding [Wed Mar 21 13:21:13 2012] [notice] child pid 5568 exit signal Aborted (6) Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: Unable to get the locale encoding LookupError: no codec search functions registered: can't find encoding [Wed Mar 21 13:21:14 2012] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down If I comment out the instruction to load mod-wsgi, the page serves normally.
