• Computer freezes, wireless network icon disappears

  As you can see I have two problems. I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 computer. It is 5-6 years old and it is connected to a D-link router. For a period now it has not been working correctly. The computer freezes either when i try turning it on or when I have been using the computer for a short period of time. The times the computer works normally I have a problem with a disappearing wireless network icon, and so I have no internet. Can this be fixed or do I have to buy a new computer? I only use the computer for internet surfing and easy tasks like word etc, so I would like to keep it as long as possible.

• Convert WPF BitmapSource to Icon for window

  I have a 16x16 .png file which I have loaded as an ImageSource (BitmapSource) and it is working fine when I use it on an Image in a tabcontrol header. I now want to use that same image in a floating window (inherited from the WPF Window class) when the user drags the document tab. (This is AvalonDock which I have tweaked to allow images in the tab header) After many searches on the web, I understand that Window.Icon requires a BitmapFrame but all the sample code seems to assume that a .ico file is available which it isn't in my case. I have tried the following code (plus variants including cloning, freezing etc): var image = (Image) content.Icon; var bitmapSource = (BitmapSource) image.Source; Icon = BitmapFrame.Create(bitmapSource); but when the Show() method is called, an exception is thrown: "Exception of type 'System.ExecutionEngineException' was thrown." How can a I create a compatible bitmap on the fly to allow the Window to display the icon?

• Android: No icon for Notification

  Hello, I wanted to create a notification without the icon in the status bar (the state that is not expanded). I tried the custom expanded view and set the icon for this view only. But it did not work. When I give 0 as icon to the constructor, the icon disappears but notification also does not appear in the expanded view. Notification notification = new Notification(0, "", 0); I tried a lot of combinations but didn't come out with a solution. By the way, I know it is working because I saw this feature in some apps. Thanks.

• Carbide / Symbian C++ - Change Application Icon

  I am using Carbide (just upgraded to 2.0) to develop an S60 3rd Edition application. I would like to know the easiest way to change the icon (both the application icon on the device menu and the icon at the top left of the main view) because I have the need to skin my application in many different ways as easily as possible. All my efforts with messing around with .mif files have so far failed. I have a 44x44 .svg icon I made with Illustrator, could someone please help me in the right direction? Thanks!

• Google Map Overlay Icon disappears at certain zoom level

  I notice that Firefox 3 demonstrates this problem. I put down an overlay icon and play around with the map zoom. At certain zoom level, I found that the icon disappears for some unknown reason. Zooming out brings back the icon. Or during the disappearance, I click on the Google Map and it will somehow trigger to bring back the icon. I suspect it has something to do with the event triggering. Internet Explorer doesn't demonstrate the same problem though. Any advice? Like how to trigger update event on Firefox?

• Blender has weird fuzzy misbehaving icon in launcher

  I got Blender 2.58 (stable) from blender.org (downloaded the package, extracted it). Everything works fine, but the only thing that bugs me is that the icon in the launcher (when I open it) is really fuzzy. I guess that's no big deal, but when I select "Keep in Launcher" and close Blender, the icon doesn't work when I try to open it again. Then, I created a Launcher on my desktop with the path to the blender executable, slapped on a shiny new non-fuzzy .svg icon that came with the package, and dragged the (desktop) Launcher to my (Unity) Launcher. Now, when I click on the new launcher, it keeps showing the flashing thing that says it's opening the program, and then the old fuzzy icon comes back but doesn't replace the new icon. Even after Blender opens, the new icon is still flashing. What is wrong with my launcher?

• Remove the Lock Icon from a Folder in Windows 7

  If you’ve been playing around with folder sharing or security options, then you might have ended up with an unsightly lock icon on a folder. We’ll show you how to get rid of that icon without over-sharing it. The lock icon in Windows 7 indicates that the file or folder can only be accessed by you, and not any other user on your computer. If this is desired, then the lock icon is a good way to ensure that those settings are in place. If this isn’t your intention, then it’s an eyesore. To remove the lock icon, we have to change the security settings on the folder to allow the Users group to, at the very least, read from the folder. Right-click on the folder with the lock icon and select Properties. Switch to the Security tab, and then press the Edit… button. A list of groups and users that have access to the folder appears. Missing from the list will be the “Users” group. Click the Add… button. The next window is a bit confusing, but all you need to do is enter “Users” into the text field near the bottom of the window. Click the Check Names button. “Users” will change to the location of the Users group on your particular computer. In our case, this is PHOENIX\Users (PHOENIX is the name of our test machine). Click OK. The Users group should now appear in the list of Groups and Users with access to the folder. You can modify the specific permissions that the Users group has if you’d like – at the minimum, it must have Read access. Click OK. Keep clicking OK until you’re back at the Explorer window. You should now see that the lock icon is gone from your folder! It may be a small aesthetic nuance, but having that one folder stick out in a group of other folders is needlessly distracting. Fortunately, the fix is quick and easy, and does not compromise the security of the folder!   I know how to change an icon this way. What I'm looking for is an equivalent to changing the icon for an application in the launcher, i. e. the Home folder, via gedit ~/.local/share/applications/nautilus-home.desktop That way you can set an icon type, which is helpful when you later want to change the icon set resp. theme or when you want the best resolution for each size of the icon. So, I know how I can do this for applications in the launcher - but how can I realize this for icon folders in Nautilus? (In which file these settings are stored and editable whith i. e. Gedit?)

I added the icon to the project as a resource and when i start the app, everything works (the icon appears at the right place). But the WPF designer window can't be reloaded and i'm not able to see changes in the designer, when i change the XAML code. Can somebody explain this error or am i doing something wrong? • Windows Mobile application icon

  Is it possible to specify the application icon for a windows mobile app from a resource file or other configuration besides the .csproj? The reason I would like to do this is because I have an application that can be configured to run in several different ways. We would like to build out three unique .cabs based on these configurations, and we would like to use a different icon for each version. One option we've considered is just running multiple builds and swapping out the icon file each time, but we were hoping there would be a way to do this using a "resource" DLL or something along those lines, that could be compiled or linked in to the main .exe.

Therefore I created an own Icon and moved it to: /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/22 It is named indicator-notify.svg Heres the code for the icon. ind = appindicator.Indicator ("notify", "indicator-notify", appindicator.CATEGORY_APPLICATION_STATUS) ind.set_status (appindicator.STATUS_ACTIVE) This Icon is not displayed.   Instead of using <img> tags for your icons, you can use icon fonts on <span> tags (which offer some advantages such as not having to create a sprite, being able to scale icons up/down without degrading quality...). However, by using an icon font you give up the <img> alt attribute (that attribute can help you with SEO). There is a way to add text to the <span> and hide it, but I wonder whether this is recognized / penalized by Google (as it seems to go against the quality guidelines). Would inserting text in font icon tag and hiding it with CSS (text-indent: -9999px) be recognized / penalized by Google ?

• Duplicate (Spotify) Icon in launcher

  I have installed spotify on Ubuntu 13.04 and have locked the icon on the launcher. But when I exit the program fully or even restart and use that icon to open spotify, a new icon is created or a different icon is generated with a ? on it. It is a clean install of Ubuntu 13.04 so was wondering if this is a known bug or if there was a way of making sure it just doesn't created a duplicate icon? N.B it has not happened as of yet to any other program I have installed (Chrome & Steam)
