  • ListView not firing OnItemCommand (nor ItemInserting) after preventing postback

    - by nevizi
    Hi there, I have a ListView inside a FormView that, for some strange reason, doesn't fire neither the ItemInsert nor the ItemCommand event. I'm populating the ListView with a generic list. I bind the list to the ListView on the OnPreRenderComplete. <asp:ListView runat="server" ID="lvReferences" DataKeyNames="idReference" OnItemInserting="ContractReferences_Inserting" OnItemDeleting="ContractReferences_Deleting" InsertItemPosition="LastItem" OnItemCommand="ContractReferences_Command" OnItemCreated="ContractReferences_ItemDataBound"> <LayoutTemplate> <ul> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="itemPlaceholder" runat="server" /> </ul> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <li class="obsItem"> <a href="#"><asp:TextBox ID="valRef" runat="server" Width="5px" Enabled="false" Text='<%#Bind("idProcessRecordRef") %>' /></a> <asp:TextBox id="txtRef" runat="server" Text='<%#Bind("description") %>' /> <asp:ImageButton ID="btDelete" runat="server" CommandName="Delete" ImageUrl="~/_layouts/web.commons/Images/eliminar.png" /> </li> </ItemTemplate> <InsertItemTemplate> <li class="obsItem"> <a href="#"><asp:TextBox ID="valRef" runat="server" Width="5px" Enabled="false" /></a> <asp:TextBox id="txtRef" runat="server" /> <asp:ImageButton ID="btDetail" CausesValidation="false" OnClientClick="javascript:openPopup();return false;" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/_layouts/web.commons/Images/novo.png" /> <asp:ImageButton ID="btSaveDs" runat="server" CommmandName="Insert" CausesValidation="false" ImageUrl="~/_layouts/web.commons/Images/gravarObs.png" /> </li> </InsertItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> My ItemDataBound method is: protected void ContractReferences_ItemDataBound(object sender, ListViewItemEventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { TextBox valRef = e.Item.FindControl("valRef") as TextBox; TextBox txtRef = e.Item.FindControl("txtRef") as TextBox; ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this, this.GetType(), "popup", "function openPopup(){ window.open('ContractPicker.aspx?c1=" + valRef.ClientID + "&c2=" + txtRef.ClientID + "');}", true); } } So, basically, in the InsertItemTemplate I put a button that opens a LOV and populates my valRef and txtRef fields. I had to put a "return false" in order for the parent page to not postback (and I think the problem lies here...). Then, when I click in the ImageButton with the CommandName="Insert", instead of firing the ItemCommand event, it enters once again in the ItemDataBound handler. So, any ideas? Thanks!

  • load complex class/nested xml file into dataset

    - by iTayb
    I want to create a dataset and bind it with a repeater. My datasource is a class, which is itself loaded from an nested xml file. I can use both as datasources. How can I do it? This is my sample XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <BookStore xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Book> <Name>??????? ????? 035006</Name> <Imageurl>math1.jpg</Imageurl> <Subject>???????</Subject> <Author>??? ????</Author> <Level>5</Level> <Year>2002</Year> <Rating>4</Rating> <BookSellers> <string>????? ?????</string> <string>?.?. ????? ??"?</string> <string>??? ?? ???? ????? ??????? ??"?</string> <string>?? ?????? ???? ?'????</string> <string>???? ??? ?????</string> <string>Garbage Collector</string> <string>???? ??????? ??????</string> </BookSellers> <BookPrices> <double>25</double> <double>48</double> <double>37</double> <double>52</double> <double>34</double> <double>22</double> <double>60</double> </BookPrices> </Book> </BookStore> Plus, how will I refer to this data? for example, DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Imageurl" will bring me the url? Thank you very much!

  • Issue accessing class variable from thread.

    - by James
    Hello, The code below is meant to take an arraylist of product objects as an input, spun thread for each product(and add the product to the arraylist 'products'), check product image(product.imageURL) availability, remove the products without images(remove the product from the arraylist 'products'), and return an arraylist of products with image available. package com.catgen.thread; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Iterator; import java.util.List; import com.catgen.Product; import com.catgen.Utils; public class ProductFilterThread extends Thread{ private Product product; private List<Product> products = new ArrayList<Product>(); public ProductFilterThread(){ } public ProductFilterThread(Product product){ this.product = product; } public synchronized void addProduct(Product product){ System.out.println("Before add: "+getProducts().size()); getProducts().add(product); System.out.println("After add: "+getProducts().size()); } public synchronized void removeProduct(Product product){ System.out.println("Before rem: "+getProducts().size()); getProducts().remove(product); System.out.println("After rem: "+getProducts().size()); } public synchronized List<Product> getProducts(){ return this.products; } public synchronized void setProducts(List<Product> products){ this.products = products; } public void run(){ boolean imageExists = Utils.fileExists(this.product.ImageURL); if(!imageExists){ System.out.println(this.product.ImageURL); removeProduct(this.product); } } public List<Product> getProductsWithImageOnly(List<Product> products){ ProductFilterThread pft = null; try{ List<ProductFilterThread> threads = new ArrayList<ProductFilterThread>(); for(Product product: products){ pft = new ProductFilterThread(product); addProduct(product); pft.start(); threads.add(pft); } Iterator<ProductFilterThread> threadsIter = threads.iterator(); while(threadsIter.hasNext()){ ProductFilterThread thread = threadsIter.next(); thread.join(); } }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } System.out.println("Total returned products = "+getProducts().size()); return getProducts(); } } Calling statement: displayProducts = new ProductFilterThread().getProductsWithImageOnly(displayProducts); Here, when addProduct(product) is called from within getProductsWithImageOnly(), getProducts() returns the list of products, but that's not the case(no products are returned) when the method removeProduct() is called by a thread, because of which the products without images are never removed. As a result, all the products are returned by the module whether or not the contained products have images. What can be the problem here? Thanks in advance. James.

  • kCGImagePropertyIPTCKeywords problem

    - by deepa
    Hi, I am developing an iPhone app in which I want to set the keywords for an image using ImageIO.framework. Following is the code snippet that I use for setting the keywords. But, it does not apply the keywords to image meta data. Could some one help me out in finding the problem here. NSMutableDictionary *iptcDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject: [NSArray arrayWithObject: @"Test"] forKey:(NSString *)kCGImagePropertyIPTCKeywords]; NSDictionary *newImageProperties = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:iptcDictionary forKey:(NSString *)kCGImagePropertyIPTCDictionary]; CGImageSourceRef imageSource=CGImageSourceCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)imageURL, nil); //imageURL is URL of source image CGImageDestinationRef imageDestination = CGImageDestinationCreateWithData( (CFMutableDataRef)newImageFileData, CGImageSourceGetType(imageSource), 1,NULL); CGImageDestinationAddImageFromSource(imageDestination, imageSource, 0, (CFDictionaryRef) newImageProperties); if (CGImageDestinationFinalize(imageDestination)) [newImageFileData writeToFile:imagePath atomically:YES]; //imagePath is the path of the destination image with new metadata Thanks and regards, Deepa

  • How to replace a codebehind method with an aspx method using ternary operator

    - by user466663
    I have an asp:hyperlink control as part of a gridview template. The code in the aspx page is given below: asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="lnkEdit" ToolTip="Edit article" NavigateUrl='<%# GetUrl(Eval("ID").ToString(), Eval("CategoryID").ToString()) %' ImageUrl="~/Images/Edit.gif" The NavigateUrl value is obtained from the codebehind method GetUrl(string, string). The code works fine and is as follows: protected string GetUrl(string id, string categoryID) { var CategoryID = string.Empty; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(Request.QueryString["CatID"])) { CategoryID = Request.QueryString["CatID"].ToString(); } else if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(categoryID)) { CategoryID = categoryID; } return "~/TBSArticles/WriteOrEditArticle.aspx?ID=" + id + "&CatID=" + CategoryID; } I want to replace the code behind method by using a ternary operator within the aspx page. I tried something like below, but didn't work: asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="lnkEdit" ToolTip="Edit article" NavigateUrl='<%# "~/TBSArticles/WriteOrEditArticle.aspx?ID=" + Eval("ID") + "&CatID=" + Eval(this.Request.QueryString["CatID"].ToString()) != ""? this.Request.QueryString["CatID"] : Eval("CategoryID")) %' ImageUrl="~/Images/Edit.gif" Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Is there an autorelease pool in class methods?

    - by mystify
    I have an class method which generates an UIView, like this: + (UIImage*)imageWithFileName:(NSString*)imgFile { UIImage *img = nil; NSBundle *appBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *resourcePath = [appBundle pathForResource:imgFile ofType:nil]; if (resourcePath != nil) { NSURL *imageURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:resourcePath]; NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:imageURL]; img = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; // should be autoreleased!! [data release]; } return img; } However, when I use this, the image data is NEVER freed. There is definitely a memory bug with this, although I didn't break any memory management rule I am aware of. My guess is that because this is a class method which gets called from instance methods, There is no active autorelease pool in place or it's one that only gets drained when I quit the app. Could that be right?

  • Safe, standard way to load images in ListView on a different thread?

    - by Po
    Before making this question, I have searched and read these ones: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/541966/android-how-do-i-do-a-lazy-load-of-images-in-listview http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1409623/android-issue-with-lazy-loading-images-into-a-listview My problem is I have a ListView, where: Each row contains an ImageView, whose content is to be loaded from the internet Each row's view is recycled as in ApiDemo's List14 What I want ultimately: Load images lazily, only when the user scrolls to them Load images on different thread(s) to maintain responsiveness My current approach: In the adapter's getView() method, apart from setting up other child views, I launch a new thread that loads the Bitmap from the internet. When that loading thread finishes, it returns the Bitmap to be set on the ImageView (I do this using AsyncTask or Handler). Because I recycle ImageViews, it may be the case that I first want to set a view with Bitmap#1, then later want to set it to Bitmap#2 when the user scrolls down. Bitmap#1 may happen to take longer than Bitmap#2 to load, so it may end up overwriting Bitmap#2 on the view. I solve this by maintaining a WeakHashMap that remembers the last Bitmap I want to set for that view. Below is somewhat a pseudocode for my current approach. I've ommitted other details like caching, just to keep the thing clear. public class ImageLoader { // keeps track of the last Bitmap we want to set for this ImageView private static final WeakHashMap<ImageView, AsyncTask> assignments = new WeakHashMap<ImageView, AsyncTask>(); /** Asynchronously sets an ImageView to some Bitmap loaded from the internet */ public static void setImageAsync(final ImageView imageView, final String imageUrl) { // cancel whatever previous task AsyncTask oldTask = assignments.get(imageView); if (oldTask != null) { oldTask.cancel(true); } // prepare to launch a new task to load this new image AsyncTask<String, Integer, Bitmap> newTask = new AsyncTask<String, Integer, Bitmap>() { protected void onPreExecute() { // set ImageView to some "loading..." image } protected Bitmap doInBackground(String... urls) { return loadFromInternet(imageUrl); } protected void onPostExecute(Bitmap bitmap) { // set Bitmap if successfully loaded, or an "error" image if (bitmap != null) { imageView.setImageBitmap(bitmap); } else { imageView.setImageResource(R.drawable.error); } } }; newTask.execute(); // mark this as the latest Bitmap we want to set for this ImageView assignments.put(imageView, newTask); } /** returns (Bitmap on success | null on error) */ private Bitmap loadFromInternet(String imageUrl) {} } Problem I still have: what if the Activity gets destroyed while some images are still loading? Is there any risk when the loading thread calls back to the ImageView later, when the Activity is already destroyed? Moreover, AsyncTask has some global thread-pool underneath, so if lengthy tasks are not canceled when they're not needed anymore, I may end up wasting time loading things users don't see. My current design of keeping this thing globally is too ugly, and may eventually cause some leaks that are beyond my understanding. Instead of making ImageLoader a singleton like this, I'm thinking of actually creating separate ImageLoader objects for different Activities, then when an Activity gets destroyed, all its AsyncTask will be canceled. Is this too awkward? Anyway, I wonder if there is a safe and standard way of doing this in Android. In addition, I don't know iPhone but is there a similar problem there and do they have a standard way to do this kind of task? Many thanks.

  • jquery with ASP.NET MVC - calling ajax enabled web service

    - by dcp
    This is a bit of a continuation of a previous question. Now I'm trying to make a call to an AJAX enabled web service which I have defined within the ASP.NET MVC application (i.e. the MovieService.svc). But the service is never being called in my getMovies javascript function. This same technique of calling the AJAX web service works ok if I try it in a non ASP.NET MVC application, so it makes me wonder if maybe the ASP MVC routes are interfering with things somehow when it tries to make the AJAX web service call. Do you have any idea why my web service isn't getting called? Code below. <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/jquery-1.4.2.min.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/grid.locale-en.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/jquery.jqGrid.min.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var lastsel2; function successFunction(jsondata) { debugger var thegrid = jQuery("#editgrid"); for (var i = 0; i < jsondata.d.length; i++) { thegrid.addRowData(i + 1, jsondata.d[i]); } } function getMovies() { debugger // ***** the MovieService#GetMovies method never gets called $.ajax({ url: 'MovieService.svc/GetMovies', data: "{}", // For empty input data use "{}", dataType: "json", type: "GET", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: successFunction }); } jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid({ datatype: getMovies, colNames: ['id', 'Movie Name', 'Directed By', 'Release Date', 'IMDB Rating', 'Plot', 'ImageURL'], colModel: [ { name: 'id', index: 'Id', width: 55, sortable: false, hidden: true, editable: false, editoptions: { readonly: true, size: 10} }, { name: 'Movie Name', index: 'Name', width: 250, editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'Directed By', index: 'Director', width: 250, align: 'right', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'Release Date', index: 'ReleaseDate', width: 100, align: 'right', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'IMDB Rating', index: 'IMDBUserRating', width: 100, align: 'right', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'Plot', index: 'Plot', width: 150, hidden: false, editable: true, editoptions: { size: 30} }, { name: 'ImageURL', index: 'ImageURL', width: 55, hidden: true, editable: false, editoptions: { readonly: true, size: 10} } ], pager: jQuery('#pager'), rowNum: 5, rowList: [5, 10, 20], sortname: 'id', sortorder: "desc", height: '100%', width: '100%', viewrecords: true, imgpath: '/Content/jqGridCss/redmond/images', caption: 'Movies from 2008', editurl: '/Home/EditMovieData/', caption: 'Movie List' }); $("#bedata").click(function() { var gr = jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid('getGridParam', 'selrow'); if (gr != null) jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid('editGridRow', gr, { height: 280, reloadAfterSubmit: false }); else alert("Hey dork, please select a row"); }); }); </script> <h2> <%= Html.Encode(ViewData["Message"]) %></h2> <p> To learn more about ASP.NET MVC visit <a href="http://asp.net/mvc" title="ASP.NET MVC Website"> http://asp.net/mvc</a>. </p> <table id="editgrid"> </table> <div id="pager" style="text-align: center;"> </div> <input type="button" id="bedata" value="Edit Selected" /> Here's my RegisterRoutes code: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.IgnoreRoute("*MovieService.svc*"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); } Here's what my MovieService class looks like: namespace jQueryMVC { [ServiceContract(Namespace = "")] [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] public class MovieService { // Add [WebGet] attribute to use HTTP GET [OperationContract] [WebGet(ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] public IList<Movie> GetMovies() { return Persistence.GetMovies(); } } }

  • Caching NHibernate Named Queries

    - by TStewartDev
    I recently started a new job and one of my first tasks was to implement a "popular products" design. The parameters were that it be done with NHibernate and be cached for 24 hours at a time because the query will be pretty taxing and the results do not need to be constantly up to date. This ended up being tougher than it sounds. The database schema meant a minimum of four joins with filtering and ordering criteria. I decided to use a stored procedure rather than letting NHibernate create the SQL for me. Here is a summary of what I learned (even if I didn't ultimately use all of it): You can't, at the time of this writing, use Fluent NHibernate to configure SQL named queries or imports You can return persistent entities from a stored procedure and there are a couple ways to do that You can populate POCOs using the results of a stored procedure, but it isn't quite as obvious You can reuse your named query result mapping other places (avoid duplication) Caching your query results is not at all obvious Testing to see if your cache is working is a pain NHibernate does a lot of things right. Having unified, up-to-date, comprehensive, and easy-to-find documentation is not one of them. By the way, if you're new to this, I'll use the terms "named query" and "stored procedure" (from NHibernate's perspective) fairly interchangeably. Technically, a named query can execute any SQL, not just a stored procedure, and a stored procedure doesn't have to be executed from a named query, but for reusability, it seems to me like the best practice. If you're here, chances are good you're looking for answers to a similar problem. You don't want to read about the path, you just want the result. So, here's how to get this thing going. The Stored Procedure NHibernate has some guidelines when using stored procedures. For Microsoft SQL Server, you have to return a result set. The scalar value that the stored procedure returns is ignored as are any result sets after the first. Other than that, it's nothing special. CREATE PROCEDURE GetPopularProducts @StartDate DATETIME, @MaxResults INT AS BEGIN SELECT [ProductId], [ProductName], [ImageUrl] FROM SomeTableWithJoinsEtc END The Result Class - PopularProduct You have two options to transport your query results to your view (or wherever is the final destination): you can populate an existing mapped entity class in your model, or you can create a new entity class. If you go with the existing model, the advantage is that the query will act as a loader and you'll get full proxied access to the domain model. However, this can be a disadvantage if you require access to the related entities that aren't loaded by your results. For example, my PopularProduct has image references. Unless I tie them into the query (thus making it even more complicated and expensive to run), they'll have to be loaded on access, requiring more trips to the database. Since we're trying to avoid trips to the database by using a second-level cache, we should use the second option, which is to create a separate entity for results. This approach is (I believe) in the spirit of the Command-Query Separation principle, and it allows us to flatten our data and optimize our report-generation process from data source to view. public class PopularProduct { public virtual int ProductId { get; set; } public virtual string ProductName { get; set; } public virtual string ImageUrl { get; set; } } The NHibernate Mappings (hbm) Next up, we need to let NHibernate know about the query and where the results will go. Below is the markup for the PopularProduct class. Notice that I'm using the <resultset> element and that it has a name attribute. The name allows us to drop this into our query map and any others, giving us reusability. Also notice the <import> element which lets NHibernate know about our entity class. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2"> <import class="PopularProduct, Infrastructure.NHibernate, Version=1.0.0.0"/> <resultset name="PopularProductResultSet"> <return-scalar column="ProductId" type="System.Int32"/> <return-scalar column="ProductName" type="System.String"/> <return-scalar column="ImageUrl" type="System.String"/> </resultset> </hibernate-mapping>  And now the PopularProductsMap: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2"> <sql-query name="GetPopularProducts" resultset-ref="PopularProductResultSet" cacheable="true" cache-mode="normal"> <query-param name="StartDate" type="System.DateTime" /> <query-param name="MaxResults" type="System.Int32" /> exec GetPopularProducts @StartDate = :StartDate, @MaxResults = :MaxResults </sql-query> </hibernate-mapping>  The two most important things to notice here are the resultset-ref attribute, which links in our resultset mapping, and the cacheable attribute. The Query Class – PopularProductsQuery So far, this has been fairly obvious if you're familiar with NHibernate. This next part, maybe not so much. You can implement your query however you want to; for me, I wanted a self-encapsulated Query class, so here's what it looks like: public class PopularProductsQuery : IPopularProductsQuery { private static readonly IResultTransformer ResultTransformer; private readonly ISessionBuilder _sessionBuilder;   static PopularProductsQuery() { ResultTransformer = Transformers.AliasToBean<PopularProduct>(); }   public PopularProductsQuery(ISessionBuilder sessionBuilder) { _sessionBuilder = sessionBuilder; }   public IList<PopularProduct> GetPopularProducts(DateTime startDate, int maxResults) { var session = _sessionBuilder.GetSession(); var popularProducts = session .GetNamedQuery("GetPopularProducts") .SetCacheable(true) .SetCacheRegion("PopularProductsCacheRegion") .SetCacheMode(CacheMode.Normal) .SetReadOnly(true) .SetResultTransformer(ResultTransformer) .SetParameter("StartDate", startDate.Date) .SetParameter("MaxResults", maxResults) .List<PopularProduct>();   return popularProducts; } }  Okay, so let's look at each line of the query execution. The first, GetNamedQuery, matches up with our NHibernate mapping for the sql-query. Next, we set it as cacheable (this is probably redundant since our mapping also specified it, but it can't hurt, right?). Then we set the cache region which we'll get to in the next section. Set the cache mode (optional, I believe), and my cache is read-only, so I set that as well. The result transformer is very important. This tells NHibernate how to transform your query results into a non-persistent entity. You can see I've defined ResultTransformer in the static constructor using the AliasToBean transformer. The name is obviously leftover from Java/Hibernate. Finally, set your parameters and then call a result method which will execute the query. Because this is set to cached, you execute this statement every time you run the query and NHibernate will know based on your parameters whether to use its cached version or a fresh version. The Configuration – hibernate.cfg.xml and Web.config You need to explicitly enable second-level caching in your hibernate configuration: <hibernate-configuration xmlns="urn:nhibernate-configuration-2.2"> <session-factory> [...] <property name="dialect">NHibernate.Dialect.MsSql2005Dialect</property> <property name="cache.provider_class">NHibernate.Caches.SysCache.SysCacheProvider,NHibernate.Caches.SysCache</property> <property name="cache.use_query_cache">true</property> <property name="cache.use_second_level_cache">true</property> [...] </session-factory> </hibernate-configuration> Both properties "use_query_cache" and "use_second_level_cache" are necessary. As this is for a web deployement, we're using SysCache which relies on ASP.NET's caching. Be aware of this if you're not deploying to the web! You'll have to use a different cache provider. We also need to tell our cache provider (in this cache, SysCache) about our caching region: <syscache> <cache region="PopularProductsCacheRegion" expiration="86400" priority="5" /> </syscache> Here I've set the cache to be valid for 24 hours. This XML snippet goes in your Web.config (or in a separate file referenced by Web.config, which helps keep things tidy). The Payoff That should be it! At this point, your queries should run once against the database for a given set of parameters and then use the cache thereafter until it expires. You can, of course, adjust settings to work in your particular environment. Testing Testing your application to ensure it is using the cache is a pain, but if you're like me, you want to know that it's actually working. It's a bit involved, though, so I'll create a separate post for it if comments indicate there is interest.

  • Serving up a RSS feed in MVC using WCF Syndication

    - by brian_ritchie
    With .NET 3.5, Microsoft added the SyndicationFeed class to WCF for generating ATOM 1.0 & RSS 2.0 feeds.  In .NET 3.5, it lives in System.ServiceModel.Web but was moved into System.ServiceModel in .NET 4.0. Here's some sample code on constructing a feed: .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", Courier, Monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } 1: SyndicationFeed feed = new SyndicationFeed(title, description, new Uri(link)); 2: feed.Categories.Add(new SyndicationCategory(category)); 3: feed.Copyright = new TextSyndicationContent(copyright); 4: feed.Language = "en-us"; 5: feed.Copyright = new TextSyndicationContent(DateTime.Now.Year + " " + ownerName); 6: feed.ImageUrl = new Uri(imageUrl); 7: feed.LastUpdatedTime = DateTime.Now; 8: feed.Authors.Add(new SyndicationPerson() { Name = ownerName, Email = ownerEmail }); 9:   10: var feedItems = new List<SyndicationItem>(); 11: foreach (var item in Items) 12: { 13: var sItem = new SyndicationItem(item.title, null, new Uri(link)); 14: sItem.Summary = new TextSyndicationContent(item.summary); 15: sItem.Id = item.id; 16: if (item.publishedDate != null) 17: sItem.PublishDate = (DateTimeOffset)item.publishedDate; 18: sItem.Links.Add(new SyndicationLink() { Title = item.title, Uri = new Uri(link), Length = item.size, MediaType = item.mediaType }); 19: feedItems.Add(sItem); 20: } 21: feed.Items = feedItems;   Then, we create a custom ContentResult to serialize the feed & stream it to the client: 1: public class SyndicationFeedResult : ContentResult 2: { 3: public SyndicationFeedResult(SyndicationFeed feed) 4: : base() 5: { 6: using (var memstream = new MemoryStream()) 7: using (var writer = new XmlTextWriter(memstream, System.Text.UTF8Encoding.UTF8)) 8: { 9: feed.SaveAsRss20(writer); 10: writer.Flush(); 11: memstream.Position = 0; 12: Content = new StreamReader(memstream).ReadToEnd(); 13: ContentType = "application/rss+xml" ; 14: } 15: } 16: } Finally, we wire it up through the controller: 1: public class RssController : Controller 2: { 3: public SyndicationFeedResult Feed() 4: { 5: var feed = new SyndicationFeed(); 6: // populate feed... 7: return new SyndicationFeedResult(feed); 8: } 9: }   In the next post, I'll discuss how to add iTunes markup to the feed to publish it on iTunes as a Podcast.

  • Uploading image with AsynFileUpload(ACT Control) and changing Image Url of an Image Control??

    - by mahdiahmadirad
    Hi! I Used AsyncFileUpload(one of Ajac Control Toolkit Controls) to Uploading User's Image. this works well. But i want to change the image url of an image contorl to uploaded image url. how can i perform that? I put Image control in a Update Panel: <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanelNew" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Image ID="Image1" ImageUrl="~/Images/Categories/NoCategory.png" runat="server" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> <asp:AsyncFileUpload OnClientUploadError="uploadError" OnClientUploadComplete="uploadComplete" runat="server" ID="AsyncFileUpload1" UploadingBackColor="#CCFFFF" ThrobberID="myThrobber" /> &nbsp; <asp:Label ID="myThrobber" runat="server" Style="display: none;"> <img align="middle" alt="Working..." src="../../Images/App/uploading.gif" /> </asp:Label> in C# code I wrote these: protected void Page_Init() { AsyncFileUpload1.UploadedComplete += new EventHandler<AsyncFileUploadEventArgs>(AsyncFileUpload1_UploadedComplete); } void AsyncFileUpload1_UploadedComplete(object sender, AsyncFileUploadEventArgs e) { ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this, this.GetType(), "size", "top.$get(\"" + uploadResult.ClientID + "\").innerHTML = 'Uploaded size: " + AsyncFileUpload1.FileBytes.Length.ToString() + "';", true); string savePath = MapPath("~/Images/Categories/" + Path.GetFileName(e.filename)); ImageOperations.ResizeFromStream(savePath, 128, AsyncFileUpload1.FileContent); Image1.ImageUrl = "~/Images/Categories/" + AsyncFileUpload1.FileName; //AsyncFileUpload1.SaveAs(savePath); } But it does not work. can you help me? Note that ImageOperations.ResizeFromStream() method resizes and saves the image to a specefic folder. actually I should trigger a Postback to Update the Update Panel but How to do that. I used UpdatePanelNew.Update(); but it does not work!

  • How do i bind an image to a <asp:Image /> tag in Form View

    - by Ranhiru
    First i have a getProfileImage.aspx which accepts a CusID and TN as query strings and display n image. So getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=10&TN=Y will show the image fine in the browser :) But... Now i am presented with a Form View and i want to bind the src of the image to get the image from the getProfileImage.aspx page... The following code works fine :) 10 is the customer ID and the image is working fine... <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" Height="151px" ImageUrl='~/getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=10&TN=N' /> But now i want to Bind the CusID value... <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" Height="151px" ImageUrl='~/getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=<%# Bind("CusID") %>&TN=N' /> This simply does not work :( The getProfileImage.aspx is called with CusID=<%... where the way i see it the <%# Bind("CusID") % is not parsed by ASP which would have returned 10... <%# Bind("CusID") %> The above tag alone will work... but inserting it to the middle of the tag seems to break it... Any suggestions ? Thanx a lot in advance :)

  • Image URL not changing in Update panel

    Ok this is probably really simple but I have been staring at it for too long now. I have an AJAX AsyncFileUpload control that when a file is selected I want the Image next to it to change. I tried it in Javascript and it did nothing, i have since tried it server-side and still nothing. here is the client side. <asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="upnlConfidential"> <ContentTemplate> <td> <asp:AsyncFileUpload ID="_flupCV" runat="server" OnUploadedComplete="AdminFileUpload" /> </td> <td> <asp:Image ID="imgCV" runat="server" Height="25px" Width="25px" ImageUrl="~/Images/Exclamation.png"/> </td> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> and here is the server side protected void AdminFileUpload(object sender, AjaxControlToolkit.AsyncFileUploadEventArgs e) { AjaxControlToolkit.AsyncFileUpload upload = (AjaxControlToolkit.AsyncFileUpload)sender; if (upload.PostedFile != null) { switch (upload.ID) { case "_flupCV": ImageCheckMark(imgCV); break; //etc... } } } private void ImageCheckMark(Image image) { image.Visible = true; image.ImageUrl = "~/Images/CheckMark.png"; } When the server side is called it sets the URL just fine but then nothing happens to the image, when I call the code again the URL is still the previous Exclamation image. its almost like its forgotten. Can anybody help me on this please. Thanks in advance to all who contribute!

    I'm having trouble getting the compressed jpeg image (stored as a blob in my database). here is the snippet of code I use to output the image that I have in my database: if($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $size = $row['image_size']; $image = $row['image']; if($image == null){ echo "no image!"; } else { header('Content-Type: content/data'); header("Content-length: $size"); echo $image; } } here is the code that I use to read in from the server: URL sizeUrl = new URL(MYURL); URLConnection sizeConn = sizeUrl.openConnection(); // Get The Response BufferedReader sizeRd = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(sizeConn.getInputStream())); String line = ""; while(line.equals("")){ line = sizeRd.readLine(); } int image_size = Integer.parseInt(line); if(image_size == 0){ return null; } URL imageUrl = new URL(MYIMAGEURL); URLConnection imageConn = imageUrl.openConnection(); // Get The Response InputStream imageRd = imageConn.getInputStream(); byte[] bytedata = new byte[image_size]; int read = imageRd.read(bytedata, 0, image_size); Log.e("IMAGEDOWNLOADER", "read "+ read + " amount of bytes"); Log.e("IMAGEDOWNLOADER", "byte data has length " + bytedata.length); Bitmap theImage = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(bytedata, 0, image_size); if(theImage == null){ Log.e("IMAGEDOWNLOADER", "the bitmap is null"); } return theImage; My logging shows that everything has the right length, yet theImage is always null. I'm thinking it has to do with my content type. Or maybe the way I'm uploading?
