  • Old files on computer not visible after upgrade

    I recently upgraded Ubuntu OS to 12.04.01 version by selecting the option to upgrade and preserve old files. After installation, I am not able to view my old files on the computer. Can anyone help to retrieve all the old files and make it available with the new installation? The computer hard disk shows that it still has the capacity nearly full with all my old files. Netbook Acer AOA150 model. Thanks in advance. Srinivasan

  • PHP: Set max_file_uploads for one file rather than php.ini

    Like many variables in PHP using ini_set() on a page doesn't actually work. I've recently upgraded my PHP version and found that my multiple image uploader is now capped. After 3 hours of frustration, I've found that my new PHP install has the new "max_file_uploads" parameter set to "20". So only the first 7 images get uploaded (each is in three sizes, 7*3=21). I can now change my php.ini value of "max_file_uploads" to 300, but I'd rather not do that side wide. Is there any way to set that value just for a single file (upload.php)? Could a .htaccess file be used for this?

  • [PHP.ini] Can't load mcrypt.dll dynamic library.

    Hey guys, I'm trying to load this module: php_mcrypt.dll' Everything in the php.ini file is correct, see for yourself: extension_dir = "C:/PHP/5.2.13/ext" extension=php_mcrypt.dll The file exists in this path. And other modules are in there as well and are loaded successfully. It only has a problem with this particular module. I have a 64bit Windows XP, Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2.13... But i get this warning (error.log of Apache): PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:/PHP/5.2.13/ext\php_mcrypt1.dll' - The specified module could not be found.\r\n in Unknown on line 0 PHP itself is working fine. But one of our applications needs this module and it throws me this ugly error. Why on earth does it show me two backslashes in the log file?

  • PHP 5.4 turn display_errors off php.ini

    I need PHP errors not to be displayed but logged. I am using PHP 5.4 My current code to log errors in my php.ini is: log_errors = 1 error_log = "/path-to-file/error_log.txt" Which works however I am getting a 500 internal server error trying to turn error displaying off using display_errors. I have tried using the following, all returning 500 errors. display_errors = 0 display_errors = "0" display_errors = false display_errors = "false" display_errors = Off display_errors = "Off" According to the PHP documentation, as of PHP 5.4, it is a string. What am I suppose to set display_errors to to turn error displaying off?

  • file acess slow after deletion of many files

    I recently accidentally created millions of files in one folder (rougly 5 million) and due to limitations I couldn't process them correctly (maximum argument count exceeded for wc / ls and such stuff). So I deleted them, which took quite a while, but now they're gone. I deleted the files with a regular rm. It weren't any system files. So the files are definitively deleted, but the system is very slow on file stuff now. ls, cat and auto-complete by pressing tab freezes the terminal for several seconds. Is this some sort of fragmentation issue? Is it an issue with the files beeing still somehow present?

  • ".ts " files not recognised

    I have some .ts files (programs recorded from my Sharp TV on USB stick) that I want to store/play on my PC. However, although they are listed on the stick when its plugged in the PC nothing will recognize the files. I have tried VLC (the "slider" moves but there's no sound or video) and changed the extension to MPEG, MP2, etc. but no joy. I have tried converting the files with file converters and demuxers but none of these recognize the files. Are the files corrupted (they play on the TV) or do Sharp have a unique file structure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Slow to sync music files?

    I have created a folder in the Ubuntu One sync folder and called it music. I have added various albums and the folder has started to sync. However the files were added back in October and still only the folders have synced and no music files. I tested this service before and added a single music file directly into the Ubuntu One folder (no sub folders) and within a few days it synced, however it seems anything in sub folders seem to stall or take a very long time. My ubuntu One program always says syncing and the progression bar creeps, but still no files synced. I know there are issues with speed but a month and going to sync? I recently tested the same files with Dropbox and it took 9 hours. I have port forwarded the https (443) port both in the software firewall and in my router, I tried disabling both firewalls too, either way it makes no difference. I have also tried both from home and the office on different Ubuntu systems. Is there anything anyone has done to improve this service? I am trying to integrate Ubuntu One service into the office to share project files but the syncing is taking to long. I am using the latest Ubuntu 10.10 (fully updated, fresh install), I love Ubuntu and wish to continue to support it anyway I can, so a solution would be good :-) Any help would be appreciated.     WinRAR is good at searching for a string in text files(java, xml, txt etc.) within an archive and it supports multiple archive formats. (rar, 7zip, winzip etc) Is there some way to extend this feature (by means of plug-ins etc) to search within Pdf & office files (doc, ppt), Or any other similar unzip tool which has this feature? (Extracting the entire archive & searching using Windows search is always one option)

    I'm running PHP 5.3, FastCGI, and IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008. I have a site which I would like to configure its own php.ini settings for but things aren't working as expected. I am following the tutorial located here. This is what I have done so far: 1) Configured a new website with it's own AppPool. 2) Selected PHP 5.3.6 from the PHP Manager available on the website home on IIS (not the web server home which sets the global version of PHP) 3) Added the following lines to the section of the applicationHost.config file located at system32/inetsrv/config <application fullPath="C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v5.3\php-cgi.exe" arguments="-d open_basedir=C:\inetpub\wwwroot\kickasswebsite.com" maxInstances="4" idleTimeout="300" activityTimeout="30" requestTimeout="90" instanceMaxRequests="200" protocol="NamedPipe" queueLength="1000" flushNamedPipe="false" rapidFailsPerMinute="10"> <environmentVariables> <environmentVariable name="PHPRC" value="c:\inetpub\wwwroot\kickasswebsite.com" /> </environmentVariables> </application> 4) I then create a php.ini file located in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\kickasswebsite.com (the location of the root of the website) register_globals = on 5) I then run test.php which simply outputs everything the method call to phpinfo() returns. Furthermore, I see these settings in the output of the php.ini Configuration File (php.ini) Path C:\Windows Loaded Configuration File C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v5.3\php.ini Scan this dir for additional .ini files (none) Additional .ini files parsed (none) What am I messing up on, or is there a different way to go about this?

    Is it possible to have a separate php.ini file that overrides the default php.ini file for each virtual host? I'm running Apache/2.2.14, PHP 5.3.2-1. For example I have several vhosts pointing to domains in my /var/www/ directory: /var/www/website1.com /var/www/website2.com What I'd like is to be able to place a custom php.ini file in each directory that would override the default values only for that vhost, but keep the original defaults if the value isn't specified: /var/www/website1.com/htdocs/ /var/www/website1.com/php.ini

  • How to tell which php.ini files is loaded ?

    Looking at my php.info all it says is "Loaded Configuration file:" C:\xampp\php\php.ini Yet I have two ini files inside the php folder. One, "development", the other "production". I can not see within either ini file the value, "Loaded Configuration file" .. So How do I tell which one is being used and where is that managed ?   • Hidden files in Nautilus after extracting ISO

    I need to first point to the image below to explain a bit about what I find weird here: I extracted the informacion from an ISO I from Nautilus I could only see two folders but from the terminal I can see the rest of the files and folders. This folders do not have the . character in from of them to hide them from plain sight. When I try to "Show hidden files" in Nautilus, Nautilus closes itself. It does not show the hidden folders or files. Somehow they are hidden without using the normal dot in the beginning of the name. The have my user permission but no way of seeing them from Nautilus. I can interact with them but the fact that they appear hidden when I can see them inside the ISO and after extracting them they disappear is what confuses me. What permission or setting makes this folders appear hidden and does not let Nautilus show them and like I said before, trying to show them with the "Show hidden files" option crashes Nautilus and exits it. Forcing me to have to open Nautilus again from the Launcher.

  • How to organize music files?

    I'm trying to re-organize my music files. I copied them from my iPod before it died, so they have funky names, like DGEDH.mp3. I tried using a Windows utility to rename them from their ID3 tags, but it didn't work very well--it created a bunch of folders (one for each album in theory, but more like 7 or 8 in reality) and renamed the files with non-English characters. Most of the files are MP3s, but there's at least one or two other file types as well. I'd like to copy them to a new folder and try a Ubuntu utility to rename and re-organize them. In Windows, this would be straightforward--I'd use the Search function (with no file name specified) to list all of the files in the main folder and its subfolders, then drag and drop them to the new folder. What's the easiest way to accomplish the same thing in Ubuntu? The GUI search doesn't seem to accept wildcard characters, and I don't remember all of the file types I have, so it's not as simple as searching for "mp3". Many thanks!

    I'm trying to get this script to work. It's basically supposed to mirror two sets of folders and make sure they are exactly the same. If a folder is missing, the folder and it's content should be copied. Then the script should compare the DateModified attribute and only copy the files if the source file is newer than the destination file. I'm trying to get together a script that does exactly that. And so far I've been able to check all subfolder if they exist and then create them if they don't. Then I've been able to scan the top source folder for it's files and copy them if they don't exist or if the DateModified attribute is newer on the source file. What remains is basically scanning each subfolder for its files and copy them if they don't exist or if the DateModified stamp is newer.     I want to change the upload_max_filesize = 2M to 50M, then I started edit on php.ini, but when try to save it, it displays error message below Could not create a backup file while saving /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini gedit could not back up the old copy of the file before saving the new one. You can ignore this warning and save the file anyway, but if an error occurs while saving, you could lose the old copy of the file. Save anyway?

  • certain files not syncing

    I have UbuntuOne set up to sync a one folder with a number of subfolders. For some reason some of the subfolders have stopped syncing. Within one subfolder with 6 subfolders in it, some are showing up empty (they shouldn't be) and some are showing up with only some of the files they should contain. I have synced recently, and newer files are showing up in other subfolders. There's just some problem with these particular folders. They are not especially big nor do they have especially big files in them. Thoughts?
