  • ExtJS: Autoscroll vertical FormPanels added to panel

    - by Sarge
    Hi All, I'm writing an app where I have a BorderLayout for the entire page. In the south part I have a Panel to which I add FormPanels. I would like to be able to scroll that Panel so I can scroll through the FormPanels. So far, nothing I've found from searches has helped. I don't quite understand what ExtJS requires in terms of the combination of LayoutManagers, setting the size and setting AutoScroll. Any partial tips will be gratefully followed up. A code snippet: createTrailJunctionPanel = function(trailJunction) { var trailJunctionPanel = new Ext.form.FormPanel({ labelWidth: 75, width: 350, defaultType: 'textfield', items: [{ fieldLabel: 'Junction Name', name: 'junction-name' }], autoScroll:true, //anchor: '100% 100%', height: 100 }); matchedTrailJunctionsPanel.add(trailJunctionPanel); if(trailJunction.publicTrailSegments.length == 0) { matchedTrailJunctionsPanel.add(new Ext.form.Label({text: 'No public trails matched'})); } else { var grid = new Ext.grid.GridPanel({ store: mapMatchObjectStore, columns: [ {id:'publicTrailSegment',header: 'Trail', width: 160, sortable: true, dataIndex: 'publicTrailSegment'} ], stripeRows: true, autoExpandColumn: 'publicTrailSegment', height: 350, width: 600, title: 'Matched Trail Junctions' }); matchedTrailJunctionsPanel.add(grid); } matchedTrailJunctionsPanel.doLayout(); } matchedTrailJunctionsPanel = new Ext.Panel({ title: "Matched Trail Junctions2", id: "matched-trail-junctions", autoScroll:true //layout: 'anchor' });

  • Delete record in Linq to Sql

    - by Anders Svensson
I have Linq2Sql classes User, Page, and UserPage (from a junction table), i.e. a many-to-many relationship. I'm using a gridview to show all Users, with a dropdownlist in each row to show the Pages visited by each user. Now I want to be able to delete records through the gridview, so I have added a delete button in the gridview by setting "Enable deleting" on it. Then I tried to use the RowDeleting event to specify how to delete the records since it doesn't work by default. And because its a relationship I know I need to delete the related records in the junction table before deleting the user record itself, so I added this in the RowDeleting event: protected void GridView2_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e) { int id = (int)((DataKey)GridView2.DataKeys[e.RowIndex]).Value; UserPageDBDataContext context = new UserPageDBDataContext(); var userPages = from userPage in context.UserPages where userPage.User.UserID == id select userPage; foreach (var userPage in userPages) context.UserPages.DeleteOnSubmit(userPage); context.SubmitChanges(); var user = context.Users.Single(u => u.UserID == id); context.Users.DeleteOnSubmit(user); context.SubmitChanges(); } This actually seems to delete records, because the record with the id in question does indeed disappear, but strangely, a new record seems to be added at the end...! So, say I have 3 records in the gridview: 1 Jack stackoverflow.com 2 Betty stackoverflow.com/questions 3 Joe stackoverflow.com/whatever Now, if I try to delete user 1 (Jack), record number 1 will indeed disappear in the gridview, but the same record will appear at the end with a new id: 2 Jack stackoverflow.com 3 Betty stackoverflow.com/questions 4 Joe stackoverflow.com/whatever I have tried searching on how to delete records using Linq, and I believe I'm doing exacly as the examples I have read (e.g. the second example here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Bb386925%28v=VS.100%29.aspx). I have read that you can also set cascade delete on the relationship in the database, but I wanted to do it this way in code, as your supposed to be able to. So what am I doing wrong?

  • Schema design: many to many plus additional one to many

    - by chrisj
Hi, I have this scenario and I'm not sure exactly how it should be modeled in the database. The objects I'm trying to model are: teams, players, the team-player membership, and a list of fees due for each player on a given team. So, the fees depend on both the team and the player. So, my current approach is the following: **teams** id name **players** id name **team_players** id player_id team_id **team_player_fees** id team_players_id amount send_reminder_on Schema layout ERD In this schema, team_players is the junction table for teams and players. And the table team_player_fees has records that belong to records to the junction table. For example, playerA is on teamA and has the fees of $10 and $20 due in Aug and Feb. PlayerA is also on teamB and has the fees of $25 and $25 due in May and June. Each player/team combination can have a different set of fees. Questions: Are there better ways to handle such a scenario? Is there a term for this type of relationship? (so I can google it) Or know of any references with similar structures?

  • Unnecessary Redundancy with Tables.

    - by Stacey
My items are listed as follows; This is just a summary of course. But I'm using a method shown for the "Detail" table to represent a type of 'inheritence', so to speak - since "Item" and "Downloadable" are going to be identical except that each will have a few additional fields relevant only to them. My question is in this design pattern. This sort of thing appears many, many times in our projects - is there a more intelligent way to handle it? I basically need to normalize the tables as much as possible. I'm extremely new to databases and so this is all very confusing to me. There are 5 items. Awards, Items, Purchases, Tokens, and Downloads. They are all very, very similar, except each has a few pieces of data relevant only to itself. I've tried to use a declaration field (like an enumerator 'Type' field) in conjunction with nullable columns, but I was told that is a bad approach. What I have done is take everything similar and place it in a single table, and then each type has its own table that references a column in the 'base' table. The problem occurs with relationships, or junctions. Linking all of these back to a customer. Each type takes around 2 additional tables to properly junction all of the data together- and as such, my database is growing very, very large. Is there a smarter practice for this kind of behavior? Item ID | GUID Name | varchar(64) Product ID | GUID Name | varchar(64) Store | GUID [ FK ] Details | GUID [FK] Downloadable ID | GUID Name | varchar(64) Url | nvarchar(2048) Details | GUID [FK] Details ID | GUID Price | decimal Description | text Peripherals [ JUNCTION ] ID | GUID Detail | GUID [FK] Store ID | GUID Addresses | GUID Addresses ID | GUID Name | nvarchar(64) State | int [FK] ZipCode | int Address | nvarchar(64) State ID | int Name | varchar(32)

  • User Input That Involves A ' ' Causes A Substring Out Of Range Error

    - by Greenhouse Gases
Hi Stackoverflow people. You have already helped me quite a bit but near the end of writing this program I have somewhat of a bug. You see in order to read in city names with a space in from a text file I use a '/' that is then replaced by the program for a ' ' (and when the serializer runs the opposite happens for next time the program is run). The problem is when a user inputs a name too add, search for, or delete that contains a space, for instance 'New York' I get a Debug Assertion Error with a substring out of range expression. I have a feeling it's to do with my correctCase function, or setElementsNull that looks at the string until it experiences a null element in the array, however ' ' is not null so I'm not sure how to fix this and I'm going a bit insane. Any help would be much appreciated. Here is my code: // U08221.cpp : main project file. #include "stdafx.h" #include <_iostream> #include <_string> #include <_fstream> #include <_cmath> using namespace std; class locationNode { public: string nodeCityName; this->nodeCityName[n] = letVal; } } n++; } } }; Here is the main part of the program: // U08221.cpp : main project file. #include "stdafx.h" #include "Locations2.h" #include <_iostream> #include <_string> #include <_fstream> #include <_cmath> using namespace std; • Create Templates folder in Windows 7 profile

    - by Michael Itzoe
I'd like to create a Templates folder in my profile on Windows 7, but there's already a junction to AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates. I assume this is a system configuration so I don't want to delete it. I'm currently calling my folder File Templates, but that seems to verbose to me. Is there anything I can do?

  • How can I create a directory symbolic link on Windows Server 2003?

    - by SofaKng
I'm trying to create a directory symbolic link under Windows Server 2003 but I'm not having any luck. I've tried junction.exe (Sysinternals), ln.exe, and linkd.exe (Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit). I'd like c:\folder\subfolder to link to \fileserver\realSubfolder This works perfectly fine under Windows 7 (using mklink.exe) but I can't get this to work under Windows Server 2003. Can anybody help me out?

  • Databind gridview with LINQ

    - by Anders Svensson
I have two database tables, one for Users of a web site, containing the fields "UserID", "Name" and the foreign key "PageID". And the other with the fields "PageID" (here the primary key), and "Url". I want to be able to show the data in a gridview with data from both tables, and I'd like to do it with databinding in the aspx page. I'm not sure how to do this, though, and I can't find any good examples of this particular situation. Here's what I have so far: <%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="LinqBinding._Default" %> <asp:Content ID="HeaderContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent"> <h2> Testing LINQ </h2> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="LinqDataSourceUsers" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <Columns> <asp:CommandField ShowSelectButton="True" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="UserID" HeaderText="UserID" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="PageID" HeaderText="PageID" /> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Pages"> <ItemTemplate <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" DataSourceID="LinqDataSourcePages" SelectedValue='<%#Bind("PageID") %>' DataTextField="Url" DataValueField="PageID" runat="server"> </asp:DropDownList> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSourcePages" runat="server" ContextTypeName="LinqBinding.UserDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="Pages"> </asp:LinqDataSource> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSourceUsers" runat="server" ContextTypeName="LinqBinding.UserDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="Users"> </asp:LinqDataSource> </asp:Content> But this only works in so far as it gets the user table into the gridview (that's not a problem), and I get the page data into the dropdown, but here's the problem: I of course get ALL the page data in there, not just the pages for each user on each row. So how do I put some sort of "where" constraint on dropdown for each row to only show the pages for the user in that row? (Also, to be honest I'm not sure I'm getting the foreign key relationship right, because I'm not too used to working with relationships). EDIT: I think I have set up the relationship incorrectly. I keep getting the message that "Pages" doesn't exist as a property on the User object. And I guess it can't since the relationship right now is one way. So I tried to create a many-to-many relationship. Again, my database knowledge is a bit limited, but I added a so called "junction table" with the fields UserID and PageID, same as the other tables' primary keys. I wasn't able to make both of these primary keys in the junction table though (which it looked like some people had in examples I've seen...but since it wasn't possible I guessed they shouldn't be). Anyway, I created a relationship from each table and created new LINQ classes from that. But then what do I do? I set the junction table as the Linq data source, since I guessed I had to do this to access both tables, but that doesn't work. Then it complains there is no Name property on that object. So how do I access the related tables? Here's what I have now with the many-to-many relationship: <%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="ManyToMany._Default" %> <asp:Content ID="HeaderContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent"> <h2> Many to many LINQ </h2> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="LinqDataSource1" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <Columns> <asp:CommandField ShowSelectButton="True" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="UserID" HeaderText="UserID" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="PageID" HeaderText="PageID" /> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Pages"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" DataSource='<%#Eval("Pages") %>' SelectedValue='<%#Bind("PageID") %>' DataTextField="Url" DataValueField="PageID" runat="server"> </asp:DropDownList> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSource1" runat="server" ContextTypeName="ManyToMany.UserPageDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="UserPages"> </asp:LinqDataSource> </asp:Content>

  • Reading input from a text file, omits the first and adds a nonsense value to the end?

    - by Greenhouse Gases
Hi there When I input locations from a txt file I am getting a peculiar error where it seems to miss off the first entry, yet add a garbage entry to the end of the link list (it is designed to take the name, latitude and longitude for each location you will notice). I imagine this to be an issue with where it starts collecting the inputs and where it stops but I cant find the error!! It reads the first line correctly but then skips to the next before adding it because during testing for the bug it had no record of the first location Lisbon though whilst stepping into the method call it was reading it. Any ideas why? Thank you in advance.

  • How does affliate marketing work, technically?

    - by Ron Gonzales
There are lots of companies like Commision Junction that let you sell other people's products for a commission. How do these programs work, technically? Ie, are you simply given a link to the product you want to sell with an embedded ID in the URL? Does it involve cookies somehow? Do you take the order yourself and forward the information to the actual supplier of the goods/services? And how do you know if the program or the 'affliate network' isn't ripping you off by not creditting you for a sale?

  • Using Subjects to Deploy Queries Dynamically

    - by Roman Schindlauer
In the previous blog posting, we showed how to construct and deploy query fragments to a StreamInsight server, and how to re-use them later. In today’s posting we’ll integrate this pattern into a method of dynamically composing a new query with an existing one. The construct that enables this scenario in StreamInsight V2.1 is a Subject. A Subject lets me create a junction element in an existing query that I can tap into while the query is running. To set this up as an end-to-end example, let’s first define a stream simulator as our data source: var generator = myApp.DefineObservable(     (TimeSpan t) => Observable.Interval(t).Select(_ => new SourcePayload())); This ‘generator’ produces a new instance of SourcePayload with a period of t (system time) as an IObservable. SourcePayload happens to have a property of type double as its payload data. Let’s also define a sink for our example—an IObserver of double values that writes to the console: var console = myApp.DefineObserver(     (string label) => Observer.Create<double>(e => Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", label, e)))     .Deploy("ConsoleSink"); The observer takes a string as parameter which is used as a label on the console, so that we can distinguish the output of different sink instances. Note that we also deploy this observer, so that we can retrieve it later from the server from a different process. Remember how we defined the aggregation as an IQStreamable function in the previous article? We will use that as well: var avg = myApp     .DefineStreamable((IQStreamable<SourcePayload> s, TimeSpan w) =>         from win in s.TumblingWindow(w)         select win.Avg(e => e.Value))     .Deploy("AverageQuery"); Then we define the Subject, which acts as an observable sequence as well as an observer. Thus, we can feed a single source into the Subject and have multiple consumers—that can come and go at runtime—on the other side: var subject = myApp.CreateSubject("Subject", () => new Subject<SourcePayload>()); Subject are always deployed automatically. Their name is used to retrieve them from a (potentially) different process (see below). Note that the Subject as we defined it here doesn’t know anything about temporal streams. It is merely a sequence of SourcePayloads, without any notion of StreamInsight point events or CTIs. So in order to compose a temporal query on top of the Subject, we need to 'promote' the sequence of SourcePayloads into an IQStreamable of point events, including CTIs: var stream = subject.ToPointStreamable(     e => PointEvent.CreateInsert<SourcePayload>(e.Timestamp, e),     AdvanceTimeSettings.StrictlyIncreasingStartTime); In a later posting we will show how to use Subjects that have more awareness of time and can be used as a junction between QStreamables instead of IQbservables. Having turned the Subject into a temporal stream, we can now define the aggregate on this stream. We will use the IQStreamable entity avg that we defined above: var longAverages = avg(stream, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5)); In order to run the query, we need to bind it to a sink, and bind the subject to the source: var standardQuery = longAverages     .Bind(console("5sec average"))     .With(generator(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(300)).Bind(subject)); Lastly, we start the process: standardQuery.Run("StandardProcess"); Now we have a simple query running end-to-end, producing results. What follows next is the crucial part of tapping into the Subject and adding another query that runs in parallel, using the same query definition (the “AverageQuery”) but with a different window length. We are assuming that we connected to the same StreamInsight server from a different process or even client, and thus have to retrieve the previously deployed entities through their names: // simulate the addition of a 'fast' query from a separate server connection, // by retrieving the aggregation query fragment // (instead of simply using the 'avg' object) var averageQuery = myApp     .GetStreamable<IQStreamable<SourcePayload>, TimeSpan, double>("AverageQuery"); // retrieve the input sequence as a subject var inputSequence = myApp     .GetSubject<SourcePayload, SourcePayload>("Subject"); // retrieve the registered sink var sink = myApp.GetObserver<string, double>("ConsoleSink"); // turn the sequence into a temporal stream var stream2 = inputSequence.ToPointStreamable(     e => PointEvent.CreateInsert<SourcePayload>(e.Timestamp, e),     AdvanceTimeSettings.StrictlyIncreasingStartTime); // apply the query, now with a different window length var shortAverages = averageQuery(stream2, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1)); // bind new sink to query and run it var fastQuery = shortAverages     .Bind(sink("1sec average"))     .Run("FastProcess"); The attached solution demonstrates the sample end-to-end. • Algorithm for finding symmetries of a tree

    - by Paxinum
I have n sectors, enumerated 0 to n-1 counterclockwise. The boundaries between these sectors are infinite branches (n of them). The sectors live in the complex plane, and for n even, sector 0 and n/2 are bisected by the real axis, and the sectors are evenly spaced. These branches meet at certain points, called junctions. Each junction is adjacent to a subset of the sectors (at least 3 of them). Specifying the junctions, (in pre-fix order, lets say, starting from junction adjacent to sector 0 and 1), and the distance between the junctions, uniquely describes the tree. Now, given such a representation, how can I see if it is symmetric wrt the real axis? For example, n=6, the tree (0,1,5)(1,2,4,5)(2,3,4) have three junctions on the real line, so it is symmetric wrt the real axis. If the distances between (015) and (1245) is equal to distance from (1245) to (234), this is also symmetric wrt the imaginary axis. The tree (0,1,5)(1,2,5)(2,4,5)(2,3,4) have 4 junctions, and this is never symmetric wrt either imaginary or real axis, but it has 180 degrees rotation symmetry if the distance between the first two and the last two junctions in the representation are equal. Edit: This is actually for my research. I have posted the question at mathoverflow as well, but my days in competition programming tells me that this is more like an IOI task. Code in mathematica would be excellent, but java, python, or any other language readable by a human suffices. Here are some examples (pretend the double edges are single and we have a tree) http://www2.math.su.se/~per/files.php?file=contr_ex_1.pdf http://www2.math.su.se/~per/files.php?file=contr_ex_2.pdf http://www2.math.su.se/~per/files.php?file=contr_ex_5.pdf Example 1 is described as (0,1,4)(1,2,4)(2,3,4)(0,4,5) with distances (2,1,3). Example 2 is described as (0,1,4)(1,2,4)(2,3,4)(0,4,5) with distances (2,1,1). Example 5 is described as (0,1,4,5)(1,2,3,4) with distances (2). So, given the description/representation, I want to find some algorithm to decide if it is symmetric wrt real, imaginary, and rotation 180 degrees. The last example have 180 degree symmetry. (These symmetries corresponds to special kinds of potential in the Schroedinger equation, which has nice properties in quantum mechanics.)

  • How to create symbolic links in Windows?

    - by guillermooo
Related: In .NET, how do I Create a Junction in NTFS, as opposed to a Symlink? I've tried Winbolic (Windows XP), but i can't get it to work the way I want. Am I wrong here?: If I create a symbolic link within a folder in my %PATH%, the referenced directory should work as if it had actually been added to %PATH%, right?

  • Could I use directory junctions (symbolic link) to share music between 2 users in Windows 7

    - by bebop
I want to have 2 users be able to use the same itunes library and be able to sync an ipod which ever user is logged in. I tried making both the My Music folders point to the same folder, but that didn't work. One itunes would not store its library info in that folder. I was wondering if I could create a junction directory so that I can have both My Music folders redirect to a common library folder. I've only read about directory junctions , I havn't tried them.

  • Best approach to utilize RamDisk for Chrome?

    - by laggingreflex
I use a lot of tabs and after a while less recently opened tabs take some time to become responsive, which I guess is because they're being un-cached to HDD as they're not required. So after creating a Ram-Disk I have two options, use --disk-cache-dir="G:/" switch to do what it does. Or what I'm currently doing: using a directory junction for "[...]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default" to move that entire folder over to Ram-Disk. I thought this would be better than just disk-cache but what do I know. Is it? As one can guess it'll be a pain saving/loading the Ram-Disk image each time I start chrome but if it really is better than the former approach I'll write a script or something.

  • Windows 8 Media Center Pack Install Fails with DoTransmogrify failed due to error 0x80070011

My understanding is that 0x80070011 means Error_Not_Same_Device. I think this may be related to the fact that C:\Users is a junction point to D:\Users Do I have to move my users directory back? Is there a workaround?

  • Make symlink on Windows of whole tree without modifying the original folder

    - by DarkGhostHunter
I'm trying to do this: make a symlink of a whole directory "C:/Master", in different folders like "C:\Projects\Alpha\", "C:\Projects\Beta\" an so on. "Master" directory usually changes in files and data. I work on the "Projects/*", where every project folder uses the "Master" files, but every one has new files in them. Let's say, I point to the car engine in every project folder, and inside them I add different kind of wheels. The problem I'm having, as a Windows 8 user, is that symlinks (junction) acts as a window to "Master" - I'm not allowed to add any file inside. I looking a way to reference the entire "Master" directory, and add new files - not edit any of the "Master" ones. It's as described here, but on Windows.

  • Is it possible to share Skype's profile across OSs?

    - by Mihail
in my machine I have two Windows OSs plus a Linux based one and I have Skype in them all. I don't mind Linux because there software is already different, but I wanted to sync my profile between both Windows so that I have access to all the conversiations and settings independently of which I'm using. So I created a directory junction of %AppData%\Skype\username but when I change OS when I start Skype I get a message telling me that the password was wrong and I have to input it again. This works until I change to the other where I get the same message. Is it possible to share Skype's profile across OSs? If so, how?

  • Assigning an event or command to a DataTemplate in ResourceDictionary

    - by Scott
I have the following class: public class Day { public int Date { get; set; } public String DayName { get; set; } public Day() { } public Day(int date, string dayName) { Date = date; DayName = dayName; CommandManager.RegisterClassCommandBinding(typeof(Day), new CommandBinding(DayClick, new ExecutedRoutedEventHandler(OnExecutedDayClick), new CanExecuteRoutedEventHandler(OnCanExecuteDayClick))); } public static readonly RoutedCommand DayClick = new RoutedCommand("DayClick", typeof(Day)); private static void OnCanExecuteDayClick(object sender, CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { ((Day)sender).OnCanExecuteDayClick(e); } private static void OnExecutedDayClick(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { ((Day)sender).OnExecutedDayClick(e); } protected virtual void OnCanExecuteDayClick(CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { e.CanExecute = true; e.Handled = false; } protected virtual void OnExecutedDayClick(ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { string content = String.Format("Day {0}, which is {1}, was clicked.", Date.ToString(), DayName); MessageBox.Show(content); e.Handled = true; } } I am using the following DataTemplate (that is in a ResourceDictionary) to render it: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:Day}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectHasEntry" Fill="WhiteSmoke"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" x:Name="textBlockDayName" Text="{Binding DayName}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" x:Name="textBlockDate" Text="{Binding Date}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectMouseOver" Fill="#A2C0DA" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource DayRectangleMouseOverStyle}"> </Rectangle> </Grid> </DataTemplate> No problems so far, I can get it on screen. What I want to be able to do is assign a Command, or use an event, so that when the user clicks on the Day it will notify the parent of the Day object that it has been clicked. I've tried the following: <Rectangle.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="{x:Static local:Day.NextDay}" Executed="{x:Static local:Day.OnExecutedDayClick}" CanExecute="{x:Static local:Day.OnCanExecuteDayClick}"/> </Rectangle.CommandBindings> to try and bind the commands that are in the Day class but it didn't work. I got an error stating: 'ResourceDictionary' root element requires a x:Class attribute to support event handlers in the XAML file. Either remove the event handler for the Executed event, or add a x:Class attribute to the root element. Which I think means that there is no code-behind file for a ResourceDictionary, or something to that effect. In any event, I'm not sure if I should be using Commands here, or somehow tying events to the Rectangle in question, or if this is even possible. I've seen various places where it sure looks like it's possible, I'm just unable to translate what I'm seeing into something that actually works, hence this post. Thanks in advance.

  • Trouble displaying an object in WPF

    - by Scott
I'm so new to this that I can't even phrase the question right... Anyway, I'm trying to do something very simple and have been unable to figure it out. I have the following class: public class Day : Control, INotifyPropertyChanged { public static readonly DependencyProperty DateProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Date", typeof(int), typeof(Day)); public int Date { get { return (int)GetValue(DateProperty); } set { SetValue(DateProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Date")); } } } public static readonly DependencyProperty DayNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("DayName", typeof(String), typeof(Day)); public String DayName { get { return (String)GetValue(DayNameProperty); } set { SetValue(DayNameProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("DayName")); } } } static Day() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(Day), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(Day))); } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; #endregion } I've learned that you can't call a constructor that has parameters in XAML so the only way to actually set some data for this class is through the two properties, DayName and Date. I created a ControlTemplate for Day which is as follows: <Style TargetType="{x:Type con:Day}"> <Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="80"/> <Setter Property="Height" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="Width" Value="80"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type con:Day}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectHasEntry" Fill="WhiteSmoke"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" x:Name="textBlockDayName" Text="{TemplateBinding DayName}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" x:Name="textBlockDate" Text="{TemplateBinding Date}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectMouseOver" Fill="#A2C0DA" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource DayRectangleMouseOverStyle}"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> I then render it on screen in my MainWindow thusly: <Window x:Class="WPFControlLibrary.TestHarness.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:con="clr-namespace:WPFControlLibrary.Calendar;assembly=WPFControlLibrary" Title="MainWindow" Height="500" Width="525" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="80"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <con:Day Grid.Column="1" Height="20" Width="80" DayName="Mon" Date="1"/> </Grid> And what I actually see is, well, nothing. If I put my cursor on the con:Day line of the XAML it'll highlight the correctly sized rectangle in the window but I don't see "Mon" on the left side of the rectangle and "1" on the right. What am I doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple but I'll be darned if I'm seeing it. My ultimate goal is to group a bunch of the Day controls within a Month control, which is then contained in a Year control as I'm trying to make a long Calendar Bar that lets you navigate through the months and years, while clicking on a Day would display any information saved on that date. But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
