  • Importer or converter for ClarisWorks cwk format?

    I have several ClarisWorks documents (*.CWK) that I'd like to import into a more modern format like Microsoft Word or Open Office. It seems Star Office can apparently open cwk files, but the product is discontinued and cannot be downloaded any more. There has been a feature request to add a cwk importer to OpenOffice since 2002, so I doubt that OpenOffice will support cwk files any time soon. Are there any utilities that can open a cwk file besides ClarisWorks itself?

  • SSH from mac to linux -> start gnome-session -> X11 keyboard mapping all messed up.

    I have 2 computers: echo.local is running Ubuntu 9.04. justin.local is running Mac OS 10.6.1. X11 version on the mac is 2.3.4. I open X11 on the mac, and open a new xterm window (Applications Menu - Terminal), everything is fine. Keyboard works as expected. I do ssh -X echo.local from the mac (connecting to the linux box), and from the linux command prompt, start xterm - everything is fine. Keyboard works as expected. I do gnome-session from the linux command prompt (through SSH), gnome launches, but keyboard mapping is ALL types of screwed up. If I kill gnome-session and open an xterm via ssh, keyboard mapping is still screwed up. If I then kill the SSH session entirely, and do X11 - Applications Menu - Terminal, opening a brand new xterm window on the mac with no SSH session running at all ... keyboard mapping is still screwed up. Only after I quit X11 and relaunch, is the keyboard mapping back to normal. Keyboard layout under GNOME is Apple-MacBook/MacBook Pro.

  • Can I setup a test server and then transfer everything to a diff. production server?

    Hello, I am going to be setting up a "real" server, but it's not being shipped for another week. I was planning on setting up most of the server's functionality using an extra workstation I have. I wanted to set-up Windows Server 2003 or 2008, IIS, Terminal Services, Firewall, and Antivirus on this regular machine. I'd also be installing software like Winzip and VMWare that'll be used on the server. I can't ghost the machine, as far as I've done in the past, because the motherboard/cpu/etc. will all be different. Is there any way to export all of the "server settings" or something like that so I can move everything from test to production? Is there any software out there that does something similar to this? Some things I'm going to have to wait on such as setting up the file server completely in its raid configuration, but I'd like to get the simple server stuff and network setup out of the way. Has anyone done this before? Do I need software, open-source or not, to do this? Or maybe there's a way to export all the server settings in some way? Thanks in advance! Justin

  • Need to set up a proxy on Linksys E3200 to filter home internet

    the fact that I have a Linksys E3200 may not be important. I can configure the router through the web interface, but I don't know the things I will be toggling are called. I already do simple port forwarding to access applications on my Mac remotely. So router admin is not something I technically need explained. I'm looking to running a proxy on my home computer, that filters all HTTP traffic that goes through my router. So if my daughter is on her iPad and accesses Safari, my Mac will be the judge of the validity of the request. I need something like NetNanny I guess, but local. Actually, anything that can just filter all port 80 traffic that runs locally, but maybe validates with a password? I truly truly hope this question falls within the bounds of Serverfault. I'm not a total internet newb but I'm at a loss for what to Google. If possible answer this question: Is there a webapp that can listen on port 80, and validate requests to port 80 with a password? If so, can I forward all traffic on port 80 to my Mac, to be re-routed to the user? Is this the same as a VPN? Thank you for your help. Justin

I've found jtvlc and tried using that, but whenever I use it the stream comes out either blank or lagged with extremely high latency. It works fine for insert but doesn't work for update, the database doesn't get called, so it's clearly not tracking the changes, as it's "detached".   • ASP.NET MVC 2 Areas 404

    Hey, Has anyone been able to get the Areas in ASP.NET MVC 2 to work? I created a new Area called "Secure" and placed a new controller in it named HomeController. I then Created a new Home/Index.aspx view. However, when I browse to http://localhost/myapp/Secure/ it gives a 404 resource cannot be found. http://localhost/myapp/Secure/Home gives the same error.     I have a need to convert any document gets uploaded to Image. I downloaded the exe (with all the dlls) on my local machine (dont have to install) export.exe sourcefile.doc destinationfile.gif this syntax works from my local dos prompt. How do I use the same syntax "export.exe exampledoc.doc exampledoc.gif" when an item is added to sharepoint doc library. and Do I need to put the folder (where the exe and dlls are for this) in the sharepoint frontend server so it's accessible? If yes, where should this folder reside? Does the folder and files need sharepoint service account access?   • MonoRail - Select parent category from one dropdown, show child category dropdown

    Hey, I'm new to MonoRail and am trying to figure out how to have it so that I can select a parent category in a dropdown then have it show a second dropdown with the categories that are children of the parent. If I were using what I'm used to, ASP.NET MVC, I would have a javascript function that would be called onchange of the first dropdown and would make an ajax call to a controller method (passing in the selected parent category id) that would grab all child categories of that parent category and return them in JSON. Then in the callback javascript function I would eval the JSON and populate the second dropdown with the child categories. How would I do this using MonoRail/jQuery?   • CSS 100% Height, and then Scroll DIV not page

    Okay so I haven't been able to find a question with an answer yet, so I decided to make my own. I am trying to create a 100% fluid layout, which technically I have done. http://stickystudios.ca/sandbox/stickyplanner/layout/index2.php BUT, what I want it to now do, is make the page 100% in HEIGHT... But I don't want the page to scroll I want the inner DIV to scroll. So I believe in short I want it to detect the height of the viewport screen, go 100%, and then IF content is longer then the screen, scroll the specific DIV, NOT the page. I hope this makes sense.   • EJB3 Caching Instance Variables

    Hi, I've noticed some strange code on a project I am working on - its a SLSB EJB3, and it uses a private instance variable to maintain a cache of data (it even calls it dataCache or something), with a getter/setter. For EJB2 and bellow, this was a typical EJB antipattern - SLSBs are not meant to retain state in between invocations, theres no guarantee you'll see the same data on a subsequent invocation. One of my colleagues said maybe its ok in EJB3 (we don't have much EJB3 experience), but still, its a Stateless Session Bean - why is it trying to maintain state, this doesn't make sense. Can anyone confirm if this is still a bad idea in EJB3 land, or if somehow it is ok? Thanks if you can help, Justin

  • Access 2007 VBA : Building a listbox with selection choices from another list box

    So there are 8 categories that may be associated to each order, but not necessarily all of them. So i was going to build a list box that allowed the user to double click each of the category they wish to associate when they have an "Order Detail" form opened up (unbound form that has hidden text boxes with all needed ID numbers). I want to have another empty text box right beside it that will allow me to append the selections (up to 8) so the user can see that they have been added. So one list box with the default choices, and when a choice is double clicked, it adds that choice to the second list box to see the tally so to speak.   • Access 2007 & 2003 : Creating an mde for 2003 users with a 2007 dev copy issues

    So i have an image on my computer that has office 2007, and I have the development copy of this database file where I corrected some code, added some fields, etc... I then converted the Access file (.mdb dev file) to Access 2002-2003 format to create an mde. So I then created the new mde, but when users try to open, it gives them the message that it is not the correct format and that they should upgrade to a newer version of access. So will i be able to get this done with having office 2007, and these other end users not having their new image pushed yet (so they still have office 2003)? I thought that if I converted the file to 2002-2003 then this should not be a problem Thanks Justin

So orderID is a FOREIGN KEY in the Products Table please help thanks justin

    Hi guys, I can't seem to figure this out. I setup my email address in cruisecontrol.rb but no matter how I set it, it always gives me this error. Current settings are: project/cruise_config.rb: project.email_notifier.emails = ['[email protected]'] project.email_notifier.from = '[email protected]' site_config.rb: ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = { :address => "localhost", :domain => "myemail.com", } I've even tried ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail Configuration.email_from = '[email protected]' Any thoughts as to why my cruisecontrol can't send an e-mail?     Hi, I work in team which uses Work flow management tool. I was presented with a challenge where the user should be able to roll back the changes made anytime during the flow to a certain point in the past. Surely the toll can handle it but the additional database calls that may have made during these activities have to be manually rolled back. the challenge is that there are multiple parallel paths and there different permutations of external database calls. So is there a frame work or a way to keep track of these DB calls and rollback them?. thank you, Justin

  • MonoRail - Server-side vs. Client-side Form Validation

    Hey, I'm using MonoRail and was wondering how it decides when to use client-side vs. server-side validation? In my model class I have [ValidateNonEmpty] on two properties, one is a textbox, the other is a dropdown. The textbox triggers client-side validation on form submission, if I leave the dropdown empty though it posts back to the server and returns back the validation error from server-side. Is there a way to get the dropdown to trigger client-side validation? Also it's odd because after the postback, it clears what I had entered in the dropdown but maintains the state of the textbox (viewstate anyone??) Thanks, Justin

  • MonoRail - Clearing value on edit form submission doesn't trigger validation

    Hey, In a MonoRail app I have an add/edit view. On add if I don't pick a value for a dropdown I get a validation error and am forced to pick a value. However, if I then edit that same item and reset the dropdown back to the first item ("Select an Item", "0"), it saves and doesn't say it was invalid. Debugging the entity sent back to the server, I can see that it's sending the original value for the dropdown instead of the new value of "0". What's going on here? The first thing I would expect is that it would trigger the validation since the dropdown value isn't set. The second thing I would expect is that it would send the new value I send, not the original. It does send the new value if I change it to another value, but it's as if it has internal logic that says - "I'm updating this entity and a new value was not passed, just don't change the entity value."     Hi all, I have a small amount of programing experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley but would like to make my own app for a certain website I frequent. I would like the website to be a little more user friendly for me instead of having to open browser etc. Is it possible to have a simple forum translated into a widget so you can see the forum posts and post from there?   • Netgear VPN endpoint drops connectivity to single IP address

    I'm having a strange issue with one of the networks I manage recently. We have about 14 different networks connected together through a Netgear hardware VPN. Everything has been running fine (other than standard connectivity problems) for a few years now, but I've hit a wall with a problem that's just cropped up at one of the VPN endpoint locations. Our primary VPN network is on the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet and our other 13 networks are on the 192.168.2.0/24 - 192.168.14.0/24 subnets. We run a terminal server on the 192.168.1.0/24 network with IP address 192.168.1.100. Starting Thursday of last week, we had a problem with connectivity of the 192.168.2.0/24 network to 192.168.1.100. When troubleshooting the problem, I found that Network 2 (192.168.2.0/24) still had connectivity to the Internet as well as VPN connectivity to Network 1 (192.168.1.0/24). We could ping and connect to any other device other than the server with IP address 192.168.1.100. Also, none of our networks had an issue accessing 192.168.1.100. I ran a scan on Network 2 after assigning static IP addresses to one of the workstations but received no response from 192.168.1.100 (looking for possibly a new device that someone had plugged into Network 2 that had a duplicate IP address with the server). Asking the staff, noone had reported connecting a new device to Network 2 as well. I then assigned a secondary IP address of 192.168.1.88 to the server and could ping and connect to the secondary IP address from Network 2, but still couldn't access it via 192.168.1.100. I then just rebooted the Netgear VPN Firewall (FVS318v3) and after it came back up, connectivity to 192.168.1.100 was restored. Beforehand, when checking for devices with a possible duplicate IP address, I did run a check for available wireless access points and stations and found none (our wireless is secured via MAC address access control through a WG102 device). I thought that it may have been a fluke for some reason since everything came back up after a power cycle of the VPN Firewall. Things ran fine for a few days until this afternoon, when the problem happened again. One of our users claimed that they had connectivity problems to the server and after connecting to the computer, I found that I couldn't ping the server address anymore. I could still ping the alternate IP address of the server though, so I went ahead and rebooted the VPN firewall again and connectivity was restored. Unfortunately, I can't find anything in the security or VPN logs of the firewall that helps point me in the right direction, so I thought I would go ahead and ask to see if anyone else has any other insight into why we've started having this problem. I am aware that it could still be a device with a duplicate IP address of the server on Network 2, but every employee claim states that there's been no such new device brought in to the network.
