    I'm using OpenVPN with Tunneblick on my Macbook Pro to access a server on my job. I't works fine, but i can't get it working with my Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router. I get this warning: WARNING: potential route subnet conflict between local LAN [192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0] and remote VPN [192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0] Someone told me that i should "port forward" on my router, but i can't figure out the right settings. Also not shure i'm doing it right.

  • How can I start using MS-SQL Server ( express )

    Hello. I have just installed Microsoft SQL Express from here: http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2005/en/us/express-down.aspx I need it because an example of some code I have uses it. My question is: How do I start using it? Which port it opens by default. All I have after installing it is this: I'm not asking for a full tutorial on how to admin MSSql, just a hint on what to do next. I have downloaded and tested in the past Oracle XE and test it with SQuirreL SQL client with out problems.

    if i have the below ip 168.144.254.X and i would like to add a ptr record in amazon in the form of X.254.144.168.in-addr.arpa what should be in the name field and what should be in the value field i have a zone created with a name like mydomain.com which host the DNS records for my ip. amazon wont let me add a value of X.254.144.168.in-addr.arpa in the name field do i need to create a new zone for the ip in order to allow this?

  • Modifying a gedit syntax highlighting file

    I am trying to change a highlighting file from Gedit. I have modified the file /usr/share/gtksourceview-3.0/language-specs/fortran.lang because I want to change the cases in which the editor takes a statement as a comment. The problem I have is that when I choose the new highlighting scheme nothing highlights, it just remains as plain text. The file fortran.lang was opened with su permissions and I just copy-pasted everything into a new Gedit file and later saved it as fortran_enhanced.lang in the same folder. I have to say that I have never done a thing like this before and I don't even understand most of the language file, so I am open to every criticism, as I have been guided purely by intuition.   • man: command not found in zsh (Mac OS 10.58)

    I changed to zsh from the default (by changing the "Shells open with" preference in Terminal to "command (complete path)" set to /bin/zsh While most things seem to work, I tried to see the man page for a command and got a "permission denied" message. When I tried sudo, I got "man: command not found". I changed to the default shell (/bin/tcsh), and this is what I get when I open a new shell: Last login: Fri Nov 18 13:53:50 on ttys000 Fri Nov 18 13:55:21 CST 2011 /usr/bin/manpath: Permission denied. If I try man, I get the same "command not found message". I guess there is something wrong in my PATH, but I have no idea how to fix it. "echo $PATH" (in tcsh) gets: /sw/bin:/sw/sbin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/texbin In zsh, it gets: /usr/bin:/bin:/sw/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/texbin:/usr/X11/bin Any ideas?

  • Linux on HP Envy

    OK, the Ubuntu forums aren't helping and I thought maybe you guys here could help. First off, does anyone know the best flavor of Linux to use on an HP Envy? what has the best support out of the box? If not, does anyone know how the hell to get the following to work on Ubuntu 10.04: The touchpad to work at all? Right now, right clicking doesnt work at at all, and left clicks dont work while you have another finger on the pad at all. It jumps all over. ALSO, the multi-touch isn't clickable, but it's for sure a multi-touch touchpad. Works in W7 and can do things like a MBP in W7 The computer feels like it's on fire... i think im missing some driver. Seems odd that the random meta keys like calc, email, brightness, right click, etc work, but not the touchpad? The video card seems fine, but i haven't tested compiz fully yet... Thanks so much to anyone who helps. i want to get back to linux after a couple years on Mac. :)

    I'm trying to set up a triple monitor desktop at my office using Fedora 17, but it seems impossible, let me explain the setting: Laptop ASUS K53SD with 2 graphic cards, Intel and nVidia (Screen controled by Intel card) 24" Full HD monitor connected to the HDMI output (controlled by Intel card) 23" Full HD monitor connected to an USB-HDMI adapter (via framebuffer in /dev/fb2, apparently) VGA output (not used) controlled by nVidia card First of all, the USB-HDMI adapter works perfectly, it gives me a green screen (which means the communication is OK) and I can make it work if I set up a single monitor setting via framebuffer in Xorg. Here I leave the page where I got the instructions: http://plugable.com/2011/12/23/usb-graphics-and-linux Now I'm trying to set up the the two main monitors (laptop and 24") with the intel driver and the 23" with the framebuffer, but the most succesful configuration I get is the two main monitors working and the third disconnected.     I'm trying to use memcached from a different machine (which has access to my server), but I can't figure out how. on the memcached machine I can test the connection by running telnet 127.0.0.1 port And it works, but on the other machine it just keeps trying to connect telnet machine_address port Trying machine_address... I'm not sure if I should set up something else to get it working. I know the port is working and accessible because if I try to run other services on it, they works. Os is ubuntu

    How can I mount windows share file system into RHEL? I'm not a sysadmin, but I got this task assigned :( I've tried this solution mount -t smbfs -o username=samba,password=samba //Desktop/Public /mnt/public But the output is: mount: unknown filesystem type 'smbfs' How can I mount a windows share into RHEL 5? FWIW I've successfully created a link with the menu: Places>Connect to Server>Service Type:Windows Share Which creates a link in the desktop, but I would need to programatically save files in that machine, hence I need it mounted as filesystem.   • Problem opening files with Gvim on Windows 7

    Just installed gvim on windows 7 for the first time, and I'm having a problem opening some files. When I open files vim seems to flash up a cmd window for a few second before closing it (too quickly to make out the contents,) and I end up with a C:/Program folder, and a /Files/vim/vimfiles/doc/ in the directory of the file I just opened. I can see it's trying to access C:/Program Files/vim/vimfiles/doc, which is where vim is installed, however it's choking on the space, and I'm not familiar enough with gvim to work out why. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.

  • How do I restore to a delta file (disk) on Vmware ESXi

    Using VMware Server ESXi (freebie version) I have a Virtual Machine (win 2k3 r2 server). When I first provisioned it I took a snapshot of it. I recently tried to clone the primary drive using my standard hardware-based method to grow a windows disk. (using knoppix, clone drive to a new drive, make it bootable, then I intended to extend the partition via diskpart from within windows). This process failed; I tried setting the cloned drive (via the vmware gui) to replace the original drive, boot and be done. This didn't work out so well. The machine never booted. I checked the boot order, the disk location and all the basics I usually do. As a failsafe, I then tried changing all the settings back so the machine would boot to the original drive and I could figure out (as I eventually did) a better way of growing the disk. However when I powered on the machine with the original drive, it reverted back to that initial snapshot I created; It lost all the changes since. I looked in the file system and found a few files, I think the keyfile here is one named "delta" and I'm assuming that's the disk I want, but I can't find a way to have the Virtual Machine actually use that drive/file. It isn't available to add when I go to add an existing drive. Do I need to somehow commit that delta to the original drive and then boot from it again? Can you point me in the right direction? I've since discovered the proper way of growing drives using "vmkfstools" but I need to get back to the original state of the machine to try this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    For several years I wanted to move from Windows to OSX. Mainly because back then Windows95/98/2000 were terrible options. Now I have finally put my hands on this. Just when Vista and Win7 seems to redeem all the mistakes from their predecessors. The most terrible rant is the lack of the following keys: PageUp, PageDown, Home, End, Supr Not having those made my first programming day terrible on OSX. I don't regret switching, but somehow I expected something else. So: Have you considered switch to mac? What has stopped you? What is holding you back? If you have switched already, are you willing to comeback? (Now I run XP/Vista/Ubuntu/OSX in the same machine, yeah!!)

  • Script to gather all the files ending in .log and create a tar.gz file.

    I'm currently using this script line to find all the log files from a given directory structure and copy them to another directy where I can easily compress them. find . -name "*.log" -exec cp \{\} /tmp/allLogs/ \; The problem I have, is, the directory/subdirectory information gets lost because, I'm copying only the file. For instance I have: ./product/install/install.log ./product/execution/daily.log ./other/conf/blah.log And I end up with: /tmp/allLogs/install.log /tmp/allLogs/daily.log /tmp/allLogs/blah.log And I would like to have: /tmp/allLogs/product/install/install.log /tmp/allLogs/product/execution/daily.log /tmp/allLogs/other/conf/blah.log

  • Hiding "Syntax OK" from apache2ctl output

    I am checking whether a particular apache module is installed using apache2ctl -M. When listing the modules, apache runs a syntax check on the configuration files which prints out "Syntax OK" if everything is fine. However, this message doesn't seem to be coming from STDOUT or STDERR as it shows even if all output is redirected to /dev/null. i.e. $ sudo apache2ctl -M Loaded Modules: core_module (static) log_config_module (static) ... Syntax OK $ sudo apache2ctl -M >/dev/null Syntax OK How is this being outputted, and is it possible to hide?

  • Where can I request a new enhancement for Google Chrome?

    I have a request for enhancement for Google Chrome, but don't know where to place it. I checked http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list but it seems to be only for bugs. I use the spelling check quite often, but I need to swap between english and spanish all the time according to the website. Since chrome can detect the webpage language, it would be great to have the spell check set to that language by default.

  • Sound plays on headphones and speakers with Lenovo ThinkPad L512 + Ubuntu 10

    The only thing really missing from this install is this issue with the sound. I've searched all over the forums and i found one thing where you get the model and codecs and write them to a file, however, I can't seem to find what my "model" is because none of the postings have anything about Lenovo laptops. Here is the command they all asked for: Code: cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec Codec: Realtek ALC269 Codec: Intel G45 DEVIBX With that info, how do I get the model, and how do I get my speakers to stop playing when headphones are plugged in. Also, I don't have any software installed like pulse audio either, so it's not that. Thanks so much to whoever can answer this... The Ubuntu forums are nearly useless... ive never gotten a correct answer back on that site.

  • What is the correct approach i should use for an application that requires amazon S3 uploads and SimpleDB data management?

    I am developing an application for iOS and that is going smoothly, the problem is that I am very new at server sided things. I am totally confused about how to correctly use Amazon Web Services for this purpose. What I want to do is very simple. I want my application to be able to query a servlet hosted in EC2 to be able to retrieve pictures and data based on some criteria from S3 and SImpleDB respectively. Also the application should be able to upload pictures into a S3 bucket and register the information in the SImpleDB. My main concerns are security and costs, So far i was using Amazon Token Vending Machine but I haven't been successful when trying to customize it, and while researching I discovered that on the long run it is very expensive. The ultimate goal is to handle a "social" picture service for my iOS application. Being able to register new users, authenticate these users. See what permissions they have to which pictures from the bucked. And all this without having to worry about Third party people from accessing the private pictures of my users. Sorry for this question but I am really clueless about how to handle this... I have tried reading many articles but all these server stuff looks very scary.
