    I have a ASP.NET MVC 2 project. I've created edmx file on the class library project that holds the model. now I've created another class library called it shared and moved the edmx file over there. resolved some issues, everything compiles, but it can't find the connection string resource at runtime. I've copied the ConnectionString part of the Web.Config to the main file, the old class library app.config file and the new class library app.config file. Still get this error: System.Data.MetadataException: Unable to load the specified metadata resource. Line 75: public myProjdb() : base("name=myProjdb", "MyProjdb") in the MyProj.Designer.cs file. Any Idea how to resolve this issue ? Is there a better way to store connection string data ?

  • What is the best way to add attributes to auto-generated entities (using VS2010 and EF4)

    ASP.NET MVC2 has strong support for using attributes on entities (validation, and extending Html helper class and more). If I generated my Model from the Database using VS2010 EF4 Entity Data Model (edmx and it's cs class), And I want to add attributes on some of the entities. what would be the best practice ? how should I cope with updating the model (adding more fields / tables to the database and merging them into the edmx) - will it keep my attributes or generate a new cs file erasing everything ? (Manual changes to this file may cause unexpected behavior in your application.) (Manual changes to this file will be overwritten if the code is regenerated.)

    I've created a dataset that contains 2 tables: Users (userID, UserName, other user details) Emails (Id, UserId, UserEmail) I populate the dataset using 2 DataAdapters (one for each table) I have a listbox, a few textboxes and a grid. listbox gets all the users, the few textboxs displays the user details when picked in the list box (this is easy b/c they are both bound to the same table). the grid should display the selected user's email addresses. How do I do it using binding ? is it possible or should I catch the selection change event and filter the grid "manually" (currently the grid displays all the emails in the tables).

  • Identifying a function call in a python script line in runtime

    I have a python script that I run with 'exec'. The script's string has calls to functions. When a function is called, I would like it to know the line number and offset in line for that call in the script (in the string I fed exec with). Here is an example. If my script is: foo1(); foo2(); foo1() foo3() And if I have code that prints (line,offset) in every function, I should get (0,0), (0,8), (0,16), (1,0) In most cases this can be easily done by getting the stack frame, because it contains the line number and the function name. The only problem is when there are two functions with the same name in a certain line. Unfortunately this is a common case for me. Any ideas?

    I want to use Where method in Linq 2 entities that will be equal to this userRepository.Users.Where(u=>u.RoleID == 1 || u=>u.RoldID == 2).Select(o => new SelectListItem { Text = o.Role.RoleName, Value = o.RoleID.ToString() }).ToList(); The problem of course is in Where(u=u.RoleID == 1 || u=u.RoldID == 2) The problem is that I don't know how to use WHERE method with OR inside the WHERE clause. any ideas (the code above will not compile of-course b/c of the lambda expression. userRepository.Users returns an list of Users entities. I guess that and can be done using concatenation of .Where().Where() but I need an OR.

When I delete a row I get only the first one: public ActionResult DeleteItemGridAjax(int OrderID, string ItemID) Why is it happens and how can I get the ItemId value of the deleted row ?     I encountered ConcurrentModificationException and by looking at it I can't see the reason why it's happening; the area throwing the exception and all the places modifying the collection are surrounded by synchronized (this.locks.get(id)) { ... } // locks is a HashMap<String, Object>; I tried to catch the the pesky thread but all I could nail (by setting a breakpoint in the exception) is that the throwing thread owns the monitor while the other thread (there are two threads in the program) sleeps. How should I proceed? What do you usually do when you encounter similar threading issues?

    I retrieve an object graph from DB using EF4. The context is closed as soon as the data retrieve and the data passes to the controller, and then to the view. in the view the data is modified, and then the controller gets it back. From the controller I run Repository.Update(MyEmp); and in my repository the code goes: using (var context = new mydb()) { if (myEmp.ID != 0) // Checking if it's modified or new { context.Emp.Attach(MyEmp); int result = context.SaveChanges(); return myEmp.ID; } } The problem - once attached, the object entityState goes to unchanged, and not modified, and of course - nothing is saved to the database. What am I doing wrong ?

    i am new to webservices, I have created a basic stockmarket webservice, I have successfully created the server script for it and placed it in my server, Now I also creted a clent script and accessed it hruogh the same server.. Is it valid ? can boh files be accesed from the same server? or do I have to place them in different servers? If yes Then Y? If No then why do i get the blank page? I am using nusoap library for webservice. I am on my way of scripting a PHP code for Audit Trail, in this I encountered a situation that if there will be new table created then I will not be available with triggers for that new table and hence no tracking could be done for that, so if I code it to create three new triggers for this new table, then how will get the last change done in this table? Hence I found that Binary Log File can be helpfull for me in this case, to fetch the last change for this new table and insert it in tracking table... BUT HOW????

    Hi Guys, In my iPhone app, I have ASCII art, which I am sharing via email and SMS. I have inserted the ASCII art into the Sqlite database along with the newline character and spaces. Problem is when I send them through SMS and Email, the whole ASCII art comes in left alignment and spacing between characters is lost.
